Fox Sports Update. One down, 161 to go. Good morning, I'm Jared Max. The reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers picked up today where they left off in late October, winning. The Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs today, 4-1 in Tokyo, where like last year, the first two games of the MLB season were on the continent of Asia and South Korea last year.
We'll be right back.
Cubs starting pitcher Shota Imanaga did not allow a hit in the first four innings. He issued four walks and needed 69 pitches to get through four. At the top of the fifth, the Cubs sent reliever Ben Brown to the mound, which is when the Dodgers took over in the fifth inning. Shohei Otani got the team's first hit when Tommy Edmond, Teosca Hernandez, and Will Smith then followed by knocking in runs for a 3-1 Dodgers lead.
In the top of the ninth, Otani scored his second run of the game on a swing off the bat of Teosca Hernandez. First it was a fielder's choice, then a single in the ninth. Four to one Dodgers.
