At the Olympics, the United States men's gymnastics team medaled in the team competition for the first time since 2008, winning the bronze medal. Japan won the gold medal, surging past China in the final event to win. Elsewhere in Paris, the United States women's basketball team won its opening game of the tournament, defeating Japan 102-76 in Group C action. Asia Wilson and Brianna Stewart combined for 46 points in the win.

Houston Texans defensive end Danico Autry will miss the first six games of the 2024 season due to a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy against performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Monday. The 34-year-old Autry said the violation was the result of his doctor submitting a prescription for a different medication that contained a banned substance.
