experiencing the horror of the Wendigo ready for its next meeting. It is the night before Winter's Eve. In all directions, save for the severe snowstorm that rages around you, there is darkness. Standing now on a great frozen river, you recognize how truly alone and lost you all are.

Both banks completely shrouded from view, the sky is veiled by gusting, turbulent, violent ice and snow. The events that brought you to this place fade as you gaze upon that which hunts you. Before you now, the terrible, monstrous, dreadful vision of a monstrosity stands poised, nearly ten feet tall in its vicious posture.

Nightmares would shrink from its malevolent force. Gray skin stretches taut over its enormous muscled frame. Four wicked antlers twist out of its shuddering skull. It arches its back and screams at the sky in seeming delight for the coming meal. A veritable banquet before its cursed, empty, cavernous eyes. No breath is visible as it howls.

Only three baleful and bloodied skeletal jaws. The shriek is over in an instant. All goes silent from the pain and you feel your ears pop. The river ice you stand on shatters and breaks free. What was a stable frozen water course suddenly releases from its jam and the already slick surface rocks and bumps and grinds and turns under your feet.

The thick layer of ice breaks apart, and the rushing water underneath immediately begins carrying you down its rushing current. appearing in a square adjacent to you. If the space where the creature would appear is occupied by other creatures or objects, or if there isn't enough space for the creature, the stone doesn't become a creature and the use of the wild shape is still expended.

The summoned creature has the chosen beast statistics, except for any legendary or lair actions. This creature is friendly to me and my companions, it understands language and obeys your spoken commands. If you issue no commands, it defends itself and takes no other actions. The beast exists for the same number of hours as typically for your wild shape allows, or until it falls unconscious, drops to zero hit points, or dies. When this happens, the creature reverts into a stone again, which must be recovered. While the stone is transformed, you cannot wild shape yourself.

So I get a little, I can sort of wild shape the stone into something. I have it be a summoning beast. Yeah. That's really cool. That is cool. Do you want to go? Or do you want to go? All right. After you. Yeah. Please. Yeah, he's the live one.

Yeah. I am a demon. What's your stone? Fortitude. Oh. Yeah, you got a cool-ass stone. Oh, yeah. Read your stone. Mine was a picture jasper. Oh. Oh, does it say here? Yeah, it does. He goes, a white one. He said it's a white one.

It's quartz. Yeah, hell yeah. A white one? Yeah. Duh. You have eyes? Yeah. Fortitude. Looking upon this stone, you are reminded of Fu Xiao's words, fortitude to overcome fear. And you realize he did not mean escaping fear, but instead to acknowledge it and look deeply at its source. Fear cannot prevent death, certainly, but it can prevent life.

This item does not count against your inventory capacity. Advantage on saving through is made to resist a frightened condition and you gain the following benefits. At 5th level, you gain a plus 1 bonus to AC. At

At 10th level you gain a +2 bonus to AC. At 15th level you gain a +3 bonus to AC. And at 20th level you gain a +4 bonus to AC. You're never gonna die ever again. Holy shit. You're just never gonna get hit. That's amazing. They keep swinging for 23s, you know. They're gonna find me. That's huge though, yeah. Oh yeah, absolutely.

Well, and also just the golden dragon skills. Everything. Everything. Yeah. Spitting straight facts. Go for it. I got Argonite, which has these really cool variations of blue and white bands through it. Different, you know, shades of blue. Very cool. Sanguine Strength.

Holding this stone exerts a powerful pull on your heart and mind. Some nameless power kindles within you. This item doesn't count through pre-inventory, frightened condition, yada yada. At 5th level, the stone can store up to 3rd level spells. At 10th level, you can store up to 5th level spells. Holy shit. At 15th level, you can store up to 7th level spells. And at 20th level, you can store up to 9th level spells. That's insane. The stone can only hold spells that you do not have prepared and can only store one spell at a time.

If you learn or prepare a spell to store within the stone, it is expended without effect. When you are targeted by a spell or a spell-like effect, unless the ranges touch, you may use your reaction to attempt to absorb the magical energy. You may not use this ability if the stone already stores a spell or a spell-like effect, or if the magic exceeds the level of the spell the stone can store.

Make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 plus the spell's level. If the effect is spell-like, the DM will choose the level. On a success, the spell is absorbed by the stone. The effect is negated. On a failure, you are automatically hit by the spell and fail all saving throws.

Bastard. I know you're a gambler. I said it at the beginning of this session. You can cast the spell stored in the stone. The spell uses the same slot level spell save DC, spell attack bonus, and spell casting ability of the original caster at the moment the spell is stored, but is otherwise treated as if you cast the spell, meaning that I would expend the spell slot to do so.

No, no, no, it won't cost the spell slot. It means like as where you're standing or where-- Gotcha. The spell cast from the stone is expended and no longer stored within freeing up space. That's incredible. That's some blue mage shit. I love that. That's fucking incredible. And it comes with a gamble, but it means you can absorb some really fucky shit. I'm excited. I'm extremely excited. Only you weren't dead. If only I wasn't dead. Oh no.

I got the Turritella agate, is that how you pronounce that? Agate. Agate. Which is really cool, this is a fun one, because it was, this is from the shell of the Turritella snail from bajillions of years ago. Oh, cool. And so the fossils have been entirely replaced by agate, and that's what this is. This is kind of like a seashell. That's some ocean rock right there. Yeah, I know, it's very cool.

Unfathomable resilience, having faced true fear, you now know that even in the middle of a hurricane, the bottom of the ocean, the bottom of the sea is calm.

Though the storm may raise, the deep waters sway in gentle rhythm. Below, there is no storm. And then the same effects as far as frightening, whatchacallit. At 5th level, your hit dice are not expended on a roll of an 11 or 12. At 10th level, your hit dice are not expended on a roll of a 10, 11, or 12. At 15th level, your hit dice are not expended on a roll of 9 to 12. At 20th level, your hit dice are not expended on a roll of 8 to 12. Damn! So I can-- Wait, to heal?

Yeah. So he just... Damn. Just heal up, baby. Take an hour to yourself. Heal up. That's amazing. Heal up. That's huge. I like the popcorn dice where, like, if he rolls the first hit dice and it's a 12, you just keep going. Keep rolling. Keep going. See if you can streak it. See if you can streak it.

To be fair, this is like a Niagara Falls style river. It's huge and wide. And so you're swimming through and getting through the ice flows and going deeper than anyone's gone before. And it's behind the waterfall that you're able to find a small intake. And it's here that you not only find the anchor, but you find a body. I'll swim forward and I'll grab my anchor first. Uh...

and lift it up and able to use my swimming skill to be able to propel myself despite holding an anchor and then I'm gonna go swim to the body and see who it is. You swim to the body and you, uh, it is face down. You grab its shoulder and pull and it's what you would expect, it's Daisy's face.

I'll grab her as gently as I can. Maybe I'll put my anchor in my netting and I'll grab her as gently as possible and... Make a medicine check. Wow. I'm actually rolling pretty well right now when I need it. Special medicine checks. Yeah, medicine checks. 18. You grab her and you expect to pull her up and over your shoulder to take her to the others and help them

you know, give them what's needed to ask them to help. But when you grab her and pick her up, this girl is warm and you can feel the breath in her lungs even though she is unconscious. Oh, wow. Whoa. Oh, shit.

I'm going to scream out, I found the young lady! She's alive somehow! And I'm going to basically grab her as tightly as possible and in whatever route is fastest to get to Yornir and the rest of my friends, as well as keep her as dry as possible, if that's possible.

I will try to keep her over the shoulder. You're able to tread water. Okay. And, and, and even though you go underneath a section of the falls, that's a little thinner than the rest, uh, you're able to keep her, uh, lungs outside of, uh, of, of the, of the drink. And, and you were able to get her to the bank very quickly. You're able to lie her down. She's next to the, to the fire. The, the, the rest of you are able to hear his word. This is, this is Daisy. She's still alive and, and putting her down, uh,

- You can see her lungs lifting and even though she clearly needs a night of rest, she is still unbelievably alive. - This is miracle after miracle and I wanna kneel down next to her laid out and I wanna sort of, you know, see how she's doing, just sort of, you know, checking her vitals and get a sense of like how much vitality she has.

I'd also just roar up the fire closest to the section, just make sure it's like, you know, kind of manipulated. Control flame's doing its work. You are able to burn additional fuel to make sure that it's extra toasty. Make a medicine check. Oh my god! 17. 17, easy. She is unconscious, but she is not on the verge of death.

She fell into the water and hit the water hard, but she's not drowning. She's at no risk of death. She needs a good night's rest and warmth and food when she wakes up, and she might be right as rain. By the woman in the show. Only because she didn't land on the rocks. Fate saw her through against all odds. This is incredible. She wasn't part of the group that killed the seabird.

We should make Kemp. We should keep her warm. And I want to, like, you know, I have an herbalism kit. I haven't really, like, used it too much, but I would have had just, like, you know, herbs and nothing mechanical per se, unless you want to make a ruling, but, like...

all the various little medicines and tinctures for like headaches or applying a balm to a wound. Sure. You take a head on and you apply it directly to the forehead. Put some Vicks vape on it. Vicks is fucking great. I don't give a shit.

Almost like wooden jars that I have of just some various ointments and things and kind of rub it on her forehead and just sort of tend to her so that she is comfortable and, you know, so that I can help her, you know, so that she makes it through the night. You do that and you're all starting to feel...

the exhaustion of the day hit you. It is hard to do what you're doing. What you're doing is a very generous act because it would be so easy to not get out those tinctures and not take the time that it would take to give someone the best chance at life that you are giving them and just go to sleep. But you're blown away when you're starting to be hit by the light as the

snowstorm starts to clear above you, the sky is itself brightening to early morning. Not the sun in the sky, but the

indigo shades of light emerging around the forest around you, the bank of this water pool, the surface of the waterfall itself. It is starting to become morning. And you are exhausted, hurt. You've not enjoyed a long rest. But...

Whatever impossibly long night you were experiencing because of the curse of this malevolent spirit has ended. And the fact that it is slightly brightening and no longer storming feels like the most positive breath of life that you could imagine. What day is it? It is the day before the beginning of winter.

Okay, so it's not midwinter yet. It is not midwinter. That's the name of the next session. It's not midwinter is the name of the next session? Um, it is the, it is midwinter's eve. I believe that Triad is watching over us. So you're saying we did something right? I'm saying that we are fortunate that this all happened on midwinter's eve. It is our holiest holiday. Ah. And...

I see no other way besides divine intervention. But we are alive, and it is morning, and we should rest. Queenie's alive. Or not Queenie. Obviously, Queenie's alive. Daisy's alive. We have her.
