This is the week for our No Dunks live podcast pizza party with Tabasco. Thursday night, March 27th.

7 p.m. Eastern here at the Seven Stages Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. We now know the next weekend of games that are coming to Atlanta when it comes to the NCAA March Madness Bracket. So maybe some of you coming into town...

I think Auburn, obviously pretty close by, their game's on Friday night. Yes. So there's no conflict there. Right. Excellent. You come to the city a day early, you come to the live show, and then you go watch your team play at the State Farm Arena on Friday night. And our tickets are much cheaper than the tickets to watch Auburn. Oh my god, yeah. Yeah, they are. I don't know if it's changed, but we were looking it up the other night to get in the building. Okay, so cheapest ticket. Yeah. Oh, I need any ticket. $675,000.

For the Auburn game. Yeah, it was just any game. One game. Oh. Yeah. I saw Auburn a little cheaper than that. Okay, maybe it went down. Not a ton cheaper. So 500 plus. You don't get to just hang out there the whole time? Between games? Yeah. No, there's a two-session thing or a one-session, yeah. You can buy a two-session ticket. Nice. Anyway, our tickets are like 30 bucks. So come on out. And you get pizza and Tabasco. You get to stay the whole time. Yes, you do. Whole time. You want to do a two-session show? Yeah.

We got a lot of segments. You can stay for all of them. That's true. We sort of do. We'll take maybe a weird intermission, eat some pizza, and we'll come back to the second half. Anyway, thanks everybody that has bought a ticket. We're excited to see you on Thursday night. The link is in the show notes here on YouTube and wherever you download and listen to the podcast. Okay, NBA weekend winners and losers. A couple rounds of winners. TK, get us started. Who's your big winner?

Weird week for the Nuggets last week. They beat the Warriors without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Then they lost to the Lakers without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Murray came back on Friday smoked by the Trailblazers. Yeah. So they needed a big game from Jamal Murray yesterday, and that's why he's my winner of the weekend for his performance on Sunday against the Rockets. 39 points, four threes, seven assists, only one turnover in a win on the road against the Rockets who were on a nine-game win streak. Maybe they ran out of gas a little bit.

in the fourth quarter nonetheless really big win for denver who is now just a game behind houston for the two seed in the western conference jamal murray looked like a private chef he was cooking for everybody against the rockets if it was jalen green that ended up on him he's like this is simple iso jumpers just let me work and get an easy one if it was dylan brooks or fred van bleep more i'll

and he was putting him into the pick and roll and working from there, get him off his body a little bit. 12 points in the paint for Jamal Murray. A couple of alley-oops as well to DeAndre Jordan, who was straight up hooping in this game. I just thought that Murray did a great job of being in the lane the entire time. They could not keep him in front of them. Since the All-Star game, 23 points per game from Murray on 63% true shooting, including 47% from three. The guy's on fire right now. And for me, he's one of the biggest X-Factors.

going into the playoffs for them to reach their ceiling in the Western Conference the Nuggets they need Jamal Murray to be 25 a game they could even see him rise a little bit in the playoffs which we've seen in the past before but they need the 2023 Jamal Murray they don't need the 2024 Jamal Murray I started thinking about my X-Factors I'll have a list later this week but he's gonna be on the top of the list oh he has to be the number one guy because

he can decide a championship. Honestly, that's the weird thing with him. He's my number one guy because I started with him today. Here's some other names I'm considering. Jalen Williams, J-Dub, Jared Allen, Carl Anthony Towns, Julius Randall. Let me know some other ones and I'll put together a real list for this week a little bit later on. But

Nice win for the Nuggets. They absolutely needed it, especially considering this is a big seeding game with the Rockets. And like I said, DeAndre Jordan, they dusted this guy off and he was great. 15 points or 11 points, 15 rebounds, four assists. They were still letting him do some Jokic stuff, like getting in the ball at the high post and letting him do dribble handoffs. This was a great game for him. Very weird, though, to see DeAndre Jordan versus Steven Adams.

in 2025. I thought I had stepped into a time machine. Yeah, DeAndre Jordan. And he did a good job against Alper and Shengun. Steven Adams, he may be the X Factor for the Houston Rockets. I think it's hard to tell who the X Factor is with the Rockets because they just can't score well enough. But Steven Adams had 10 offensive rebounds in this game. That could be an X Factor because the Rockets just miss shots. And it is interesting to see them going down the stretch here with the Nuggets.

for that seed in the 2-3 spot right now. They play one more time the last game of the regular season, which will determine their tiebreaker because they're 1-1 currently. So the winner decides that. It's such an interesting matchup. No Jokic in either of those first two games. And they still come out because they're resting. They come up with the victory because they're resting Nikol Jokic right now just to get him as healthy as possible. He's had to do so much to get this team where it is. So he just will go into the playoffs with...

It looks like his number two beside him playing like a number two. Jamal's playing like that 2023 guy, that's for sure. Yeah, Jokic does plan to return at some point during the Nuggets' upcoming five-game homestand. That was their exact terminology from Michael Malone. I'll be there sometime. At some point when they go home, because he's like, we just want to get through this road trip, get home, and then we'll have Jokic back at some point.

who knows what game that will be, but he's going to obviously be returned to the lineup here and as they get ready for this home stretch, like you said, what, three weeks? Three weeks of regular season basketball? 21 days left. 21 days. This was a good win for them because they could drop to fifth,

pretty easily. But yeah, these wins matter. So I guess that determines when Michael Malone says, you're in, Nick. Yeah. Do you buy yourself another game or two with a victory like this against Houston with Jamal Murray going off? Because he was awesome there in the third quarter.

like 17 points in that quarter alone sort of blew the game open and the Rockets made a comeback but they held on because I think Denver had a really bad fourth quarter only scoring 20 in that one but good win Jamal Murray ultimate X factor also known as a wild card yeah I love all the stuff we call these guys when we get to playoff series but TK will be working on that list so let's hear your other suggestions there in the stream team in the comments tweet at us let's keep it going who do you have for a winner of the weekend

I'm going with the Thunder and Shea Gilgis-Alexander because they are streaking six straight wins. Sure. No problem. On their way to the best record in the NBA this season? Looks like it. Yeah, that's a given, I think, at this point. Probably. Yeah, they're two games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Probably won't be caught. They're on their way to the best record in OKC history. There was a 60-win 12-13 season with KD and Westbrook. OKC.

Okay, so he's got 59, so they're going to get there. No problem. They've won 10 straight on the road. That's the most in franchise history. They are just absolutely cooking. It started on Friday against Charlotte. They scored 141 points. Not going to talk about that much because it's just the Charlotte Hornets, but Shea dropped 30, of course. Then the Clippers on Sunday. Shea had his worst shooting night of the season. 7 of 29, 24% from the floor. They didn't have their next two best players, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams.

And they still won because of the depth on that stinking team. Five others scored in double digits. Lou Dort is back from that hip injury, missed a couple games. And Caruso was super key in this game with a key three with a minute 40 left. They got a beautiful bounce from the corner, ran backward and in. He was just key. There's just so many guys on this freaking team. That's why it's still a team sport. That's why they're so freaking good. Shea had 26 points, though, despite that bad shooting. He is now...

scored 64 straight times with 20 plus points. So 64 straight games, 20 plus points. That's the fifth player in NBA history to do so. Wilt Chamberlain, he did it twice, 80 games for him. Oscar Robertson did it for 76 games. Michael Jordan did it for 69 games.

And Kevin Durant also did it for 64 games. So Shade's going to pass Kevin Durant with his next 20-point game. He's probably going to catch Michael Jordan and his 69-point game. So he would be the third player in NBA history to have 70-plus straight games. I assume because it is Shea Gildress Alexander. Jinxing him. Yeah, maybe. Maybe a little bit. It was a tough night for Harden. I think OKC just did a great job defensively, period.

got Harden just to shoot four of 14 and Harden got banged up and he played through it it was a wild play where Ivica Zubac came to set a screen for James Harden Lou Dort he's always ready for that pick he jumped out ahead of it and Lou Dort's knee hit Harden in the thigh and as he had that charlie horse he was hurt so he started hobbling on that one leg and because he was hobbling on one leg he turned on his foot he turned on his ankle sort of so his foot was injured it

His thigh was injured, but he played through it. He continues to play through it. This team is just so good defensively because they did such a great job against...

James Harden. They just have so many guys to perform. It is incredible. And what I love about this streak is what they do with their post-game interview reporter, Nick Gallo. I love it. They got a new bit. They've won so many games, they're just throwing anything on this guy. Yeah, totally. They're like, what do we do now? We've had a bark. We've rustled his hair. Now we just got to put clothes on him. That's what they did this weekend. Yeah.

They've advanced, though, because it was all just towels, usually. It was like, here's some towels, man. And now they're putting a zip-up jacket, a warm-up jacket, and then a jersey on top of that jacket, which didn't really fit, so Nick Gallagher just has to take it. Okay, that's fun. Chet was, like, holding the microphone so he could put his arms through.

The best part about it, though, is that he just continues the interview with the one guy. All this stuff is going on. Yeah. And then without Jay Williams, he decided, oh, I'll put some of my clothes on that I'm wearing. Here's my leather newspaper boy hat. I'll put it on backwards. And then he put his chain around Nick Gallo's neck. I don't know.

did the clasp up and everything. And it got caught on his, his IFB, his earpiece. He had to, you know, unclasp it after it. It's just funny. I like how they like him, who is a local guy, an original. He's an OG OKC guy. He's been there forever. So, you know, they appreciate that. You could hear sometimes Shea in a national televised game where they'll say, Hey, where's Nick? Where's Nick? I don't want this ESPN person. We're not doing our bits with Greenberg. I'd love to see Greenberg looking like Samuel L. Jackson, though.

That was a hilarious look, man. So yeah, they're having a lot of fun. They're having fun. How many wins are they going to get to here? Because what do they have left? 11 games, if my math is correct. That's right. And they're at, you said 59, so one more to get them to 60. Yeah.

So, I mean, almost like in their sleep it feels this is a 65-win team. Yeah. If not, yeah. Yeah, 66, 67, I don't know. Yeah. Because even they don't need to play like their main guys. They can just play all their reserves and still put up good fights. It's honestly infuriating, man. Like, we've called Jalen Williams for a period that was like, call him the good Jalen Williams because the other one barely plays.

Then they dust this guy off and it's like a triple-double every night. He went for 12 points, four for four in this game, hit three threes. He's even the good Jalen Williams. So yeah, I mean, at this point, just let Nick Gallo play in one of the last two games, right? Maybe that's why they're seeing if the jersey fits them and all that. They're checking his sizes, but they got to do it like,

under the radar. Like when you buy your wife a ring, you gotta find out a way to figure out a ring size. How are you gonna do it? It's a mystery. They're like, what jersey does he wear? Alright, here's what we're gonna do. Throw one on in postgame. Now they know. They'll get him ready for the last game of the season. Like when they let Tony Romo do warm-ups

for the Dallas Mavericks. I think they should do it. You mentioned Caruso, man. This guy was awesome in the game. He 14 points, six rebounds, five assists. I thought he was a great playmaker. And they just have so many good defenders that down the stretch, Cason Wallace was all over James Harden and Harden was just passing to get rid of the ball. Lou Dort, probably a first team NBA defender.

this season, not even involved in the play. And it's Caruso getting back-to-back stops on Kawhi Leonard twice on one possession in the biggest possession of the game for the Thunder. They just had, like, if Caruso is your third best perimeter defender, you're living life to the fullest, man. Throw on a leather hat. That's how good life is.

Yeah, and he's one of the two guys that are so good at getting the ball at the high post and being that extra pass guy. Heart and shine continues to be awesome. You know, he's being ranked as one of the best centers to pass, the best one, but one of the best passing centers, I should say.

And then Caruso's the same guy. He can do that so well, too. So, Hartenstein, six assists. Caruso, five assists. Again, a game you don't have your top three guys. One of them not playing all that well, and then the other two not playing. They still do it. I would like to give a winner of the weekend to all of the Hawks. Let me explain. The Atlanta Hawks. They won two games this weekend. Yep.

to pull within one game of 500. You're damn right, they're almost there. Or they're there, because they're always within one game of 500. And they're back there after they had that little losing streak, but they're getting some victories here on Saturday. The Atlanta offense was humming there down at the Fortress. They shot 68% inside the arc.

Had 30 makes in the lane versus the Warriors. There's no Steph Curry for Golden State, but still big victory. George Niang, Karis LeVert, both fantastic off the bench. We had some trash talk going on. Oh, yeah. Niang going at it against the Warriors. Draymond then got sort of Karis LeVert with a good zing. Yeah.

about him being traded like seven times. But anyway, they got a victory and that was a good win for them. It was obviously a lot of Warriors fans in the building traveling to what they thought to see Steph Curry, but he didn't play. On Sunday, they followed it up. The Hawks did. Trae Young scored 28 points. He had 12 assists. Richachet, great game for the Rook. 22 points.

They beat the Sixers. Okay. Nobody expects to not beat the Sixers at this point. 132-119. They shot 55% from the field. 17 three-pointers. George Niang hit five again in that game. This guy's on fire right now. He's awesome. From distance. So two really good wins. Now the Hawks are not going to catch the sixth-seeded Detroit Pistons for the actual final playoff spot or a legit you're-in-right-away playoff spot. They're too far back.

But they're going to have, I think, two bites here at the play in Apple, at the very least. Because they're going to probably host in the first game either the Magic or the Bulls. Win that, you're in as the seventh seed. But if you lose, you get another home game against either the Magic or the Bulls or the Heat. It would be the three remaining teams in the play-in. So, I mean, they've got to win one of those. And I think they will. And so it's very likely, my point is, that they're going to make the actual playoffs. Mm-hmm.

put up maybe a little bit of a fight in a first round series against the Celtics or the Cavs can they steal a game or two I believe they can

But they're going to get in here, I think. Yeah, if they lose the first one and then they have to film an intro video for the second one, they should have them each taking a second bite out of that apple. It should be a peach, I guess. A peach, because we're in the peach. Okay. All right. I should have changed it to peach. That's all right. So anyway, that's one reason the Hawks are winners. The other is they hosted us on the weekend for the three-on-three YMCA coaches basketball tournament. TK joined our team.

There's my buddy, your buddy, our buddy Grish on the far right wearing work boots.

Somebody pointed that out on Instagram. Why is my buddy Chris wearing work boots? Crazy look here. Our guy Luis, our guy Frank. It's not our best showing. We could really be losers the weekend if we're being honest. But yeah, we didn't play well. We had a really bad first game. If we played better the first game, I think we'd be more encouraged. It turns out you don't have a lot of time in a five minute game with a running clock. Also, when you have five guys for a three on three tournament, you

Your shifts are not long. I mean, we just, it was, we had probably one too many guys looking back. Yeah. Five minute games. They go like that. So now I don't feel bad that I wasn't invited because you have five. You have five. There's too many. But I don't even want to defend Grisha's shoes, but the Shea Gildress Alexander shoes are the same color. They are the same color. They have a zipper though.

Those boots don't. You know who plays exactly like Shaggy Gilderslug's hander? Who? Not my buddy Grish. But anyway, so thanks to the Hawks for doing that. It was really cool that they have us out for the second time. I've done it, and it was fun to get Trey on the team this year. And then finally...

I'm not done talking Hawks. Oh, wow. A winner of the weekend to College Park Skyhawks guard Jarkel Joyner, who scored 38 points in like 27 minutes on Friday night. New season high totals in both points scored and three-pointers made. He went 10 for 16 from deep. But the best part was Joyner and his work at the end of quarters. This was wild. Has this ever been done before, in all honesty, across any sport or any level of basketball? No.

Joyner hit a buzzer-beating three at the end of the first quarter. Okay. He then hit another deep bomb at the end of the second quarter as they were going into the half. Then he banked home a three at the end of the third quarter. Every shot was getting wilder and wilder as the game went on at the end of quarters. And then...

He hit a game-tying three with less than two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The definition of clutch from this guy. So that last one, not technically a buzzer beater.

Because there was like two seconds left on the clock. But come on. It's as close as you can get. Four for four from deep at the end of every quarter. Now, unfortunately, the Skyhawks would lose in overtime. But still, there was so much basketball on this weekend. Obviously, all these NBA games. Obviously, the two March Madness tournaments, both the men's and the women's. But this game was so wild. My buddy, our buddy, your buddy, everybody's grish. He was at the game and he's like...

When he hit his second one, he's like, you guys, maybe check this out. What's going on? And I was tuning into a Skyhawks game on a Friday night when all this other basketball was going on. So I saw a couple of these crazy shots. So just what a game from this guy. Again, unfortunate it came in a loss, but has this ever happened before?

I don't. Maybe. Maybe Larry Bird did it. Yeah, maybe. Seems like the guy that would do it. But holy crap. Basically four buzzer beaters at the end of every quarter. Not bad. Too bad he couldn't get one in overtime there. Hey, we'll see you Friday, Jarkel. That's right. We're going to be calling another College Park Skyhawks game here in Atlanta. So come on out to that game too if you're not going to March Madness. There's a lot of basketball choices right now. Many choices to be had, yeah. So anyway, all the Hawks for my winner of the weekend.

This show is sponsored by Liquid IV, and I couldn't be happier about the timing. The calendar year turning to 2025 means your boy has officially started Boston Marathon training again. Yep, here we go. Looking at speed runs on the treadmill, tempo runs here in hilly Atlanta, and long runs over the weekend. And my go-to hydration before, during, and after each training session is Liquid IV. The reason is simple. Just go to liquidiv.com

Just one stick plus 16 ounces of water hydrates better than water alone. Powered by Live Hydra Science, Liquid IV is an optimized ratio of electrolytes, essential vitamins, and clinically tested nutrients to turn ordinary water into extraordinary hydration. It delivers three times the electrolytes of the leading sports drink.

And can we just keep it real here for a second? Liquid IV is leading the way in flavor innovation. I legit like them all. I've tried them all. But my favorites right now are the six delicious sugar-free flavors. Raspberry Lemonade, that's the best. White Peach, shockingly tasty. Green Grape, let's go. And there's Lemon Lime, Raspberry Melon, and Rainbow Sherbert.

One weird thing I'd say about the Hawks. Yeah.

Zachary Rees-Sachet got his Rookie Eastern Conference Player of the Month award in person on March 22nd. Seems a little late. It was for February. The award was for February. He just got it now. Interesting. That's kind of late. Maybe he got lost in the mail. I don't know.

They'd obviously played home games. Yeah. They must have. Very weird. Interesting. Did they engrave it until late in the month? I don't know. Just a question. Hey, maybe they're like, we don't even need to give this to him. We'll give him the real Rookie of the Year award when it's all said and done. Making a little push. Can he catch Castle is the question. Yeah, he's playing really, really well.

Let's do another round, though, of winners of the weekend. Sure. Sounds good. The Chicago Bulls winner of the weekend for Saturday against the Los Angeles Lakers. They scored 146 points. Most of the Lakers have allowed all season, the fourth most in regulation so far this year. They scored 81 in the second half. Bulls were just on fire. 19 threes, 74 points in the paint, 30 to 12.

on the fast break for them. Some of the stat lines are crazy. Kobe White has been on fire this entire month. He had 36 points in six threes. Also just great drives. Really strong dude. Matas Buzelis, a career high 31 points, five threes. He also cooked Luka Doncic in the corner off a pump fake. Pump fakes goes behind the back, dribble, dribble,

Gets to the rim, throws it down. Nice dunk from Baldano. And then Josh Giddey almost had a quadruple double. 15 points, 10 rebounds, 17 assists, 8 steals. And they let him stay in in the fourth quarter, even though this was a blowout, to try and get two steals. Because I started catching wind that he was going to potentially have a quadruple double. Like, at the end of the third quarter, he had six steals. I was like, four steals in a quarter? That's pretty tough. But then he got two pretty quickly. I was like, ooh, okay. Okay. Pretty interesting to see. But...

The Bulls, they've won seven of their last nine games here. They're playing incredible basketball. They're super fun to watch right now. Terrible for the future. Kind of, I don't know. But somebody's got to be in the play, and it's got to be the Bulls because if they get into the actual playoffs, which I think is reasonable at this point, they're not even involved in the lottery, so...

We might not even get con-con-nipple! Oh, man. You're trying for Cooper Flagg, you can't get a con-con-nipple? Disappointing, but man, I laughed out loud when I read the Associated Press recap of this game. They just had a little chunk that said, one of the Bulls' best performances of the season, particularly in their fifth road game in eight nights, while playing without injured starter Trey Jones. Nice. Chicago's looking more like a postseason threat.

I don't think so, Tim. I mean, if you're counting the play-in as a postseason, they got a chance to win one of two. They're a threat in the play-in. Yeah, they're a threat in the play-in, which is kind of the postseason.

It's the mergatory of postseason, but nice win for the Bulls. For the Lakers side, the important thing is they got LeBron back. They got Rui Hachimura back. I thought LeBron looked like he was moving pretty well. He was flying up and down the court. He was definitely rusty, which is what he said afterwards. Five turnovers for LeBron. The Lakers themselves had 21 and looked just a little out of sorts, but...

They got two guys back who are over 6'6". So that's huge for the Lakers. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I know you have a rule for your the Bulls are back statement, and it involves them being to 500. Right? That's your rule. But I thought we might get the Bulls are back from you today because Bill Simmons and Rosillo...

did a couple good minutes on the Chicago Bulls and how fun they are to watch. And Bill was at that game, so he saw the Bulls at their best. And I thought we might get it from you because at least, you know, the national media's talking about the entertaining Chicago Bulls. And he's trying to even do the thing where like, I don't know, the Bulls against the Celtics. I'm a little worried. Yeah.

Rosillo is like, relax, Bill. You don't need to be worried. You don't need to be worried. But look, the Bulls are 31 and 40. It's not over yet, Skeets. Well, they technically get to 500. If they win 11 games here, 42 and 40, that'd be huge. Okay. Okay. Well.

They were 3-2 earlier this year. It was a really exciting time. They were also 18-20. They looked like they were sort of a 500 team. But since they're 13-20, that ain't good enough. That ain't good enough for the right up there. They found their flow again. The postseason threat. They are fun.

So I'm actually, look, right now, if I'm picking with all those East play-in teams, I'd prefer the Bulls to be one of them that actually get into the playoffs, even if they lose, even if they get swept or whatever. It's a five-game series against the Cavs or the Celtics because it'd be more entertaining, I'm sorry, than the Magic not being able to score.

And the Miami Heat. Disaster zone. Very rough right now. They finally got a win. But I'll take the high-octane bulls here just to give those games a little juice. Sure. Over the magic, 100%. Yeah. Over the heat, yeah. How can you deny? I mean, Bozelews was great. He was awesome. That's fun. To see him score 31 points. I saw a write-up today on The Athletic by Darnell Mayberry where he

They focused on him being pulled versus the Kings in a game prior because he didn't box out, so he got yanked. But to see him just keep it cool and find a good game for him, 31 points, his career high, 12 of 18, 5 of 10 from 3. Great stuff. On the other side, the Lakers were just bad. They didn't look like the same Los Angeles Lakers team that found it all together and were just cohesive. 146 points, as you said, most of the season. Like to see the Bulls score 74 points in the paint, they averaged 50.

And the 30 transition points, they average 18. That's just bad ball. And the reason why I was concerned, I had the Lakers as a loser because I was concerned about Rui. Rui's back, as you said, back from 12 games. But he said, my knee is going to be like this for a while, I think. I can't really get back to 100% right away. I got to rest for a long time to get back to normal. But I don't think we have that. So we just got to maintain and manage it. So this is defensive communications, a lot of it. But I just wonder how much Rui is...

His injury is a factor of that. Yeah, but LeBron back. That's good. We just said Jokic in theory coming back. Steph Curry, that was nothing all that serious with his pelvic contusion. So he didn't play, like I said, in that Atlanta game. Brunson's got to be getting close. Brunson is like at least a week or so. But yeah, these star guys are in theory going to get back here and gear up for the home stretch here. Let's go to you. Who do you have for another winner? I've got the Minnesota Timberwolves as a winner because for the first time,

Joe Engel's son, Jacob, watched a whole game where his dad played.

And he got to be there in person. Now, the back story, Jacob was diagnosed with autism at two and a half. He's now eight years old. The family has gone through ups and downs throughout his life. And this past Sunday, though, March 16th, eight days ago, Jacob was able to watch his first game in its entirety. A huge moment for the family, huge breakthrough for him to be able to do that because it's just been a struggle to get into an arena and play

have the sensory just be overloaded by the sounds and the lights and the mascots running around. He just hasn't been able to do that. The family talked about they went to a Minnesota wild game earlier this year. Jacob lasted three minutes. They just were unable to do that. So that was a huge accomplishment. That being said, in that game, he was unbelievable.

unable to watch Joe. Joe didn't play. Joe Ingles didn't play, so it was a sad moment for him. But again, the backstory is so good. John Krasinski wrote about on The Athletic. In the halftime of that game, his mom, Renee, said this of Jacob. Jacob said,

Listen, Mom, keep an eye on the clock so we can get back to watching the game. And she said, are you serious? She goes, yeah. I mean, I can go play PlayStation because that's what they were doing at half. I can go do that at home. I'm here to watch Dad. Now, they didn't get Dad, but this weekend, Chris Finch and the Timberwolves, they made up for it. Friday, 35 minutes before the game, Chris Finch says to his team,

We're starting Joe Ingles because Jacob's in the building, so we're going to do that. Now, this guy doesn't play for this team, frankly. He doesn't play a lot. 18 of the team's previous 71 games is all he's played. Five of those 18 games, he lasted three seconds or less. Inbounded a ball. But instead, they push him into the starting role. He hasn't started a game since 2022. And Jacob watched the entire game being there in Minnesota. So just an incredible, incredible moment. Now, did Joe Ingles play well?

No, he didn't play all that well. But he got the first play called for him. He missed a shot on that first play. He was 0-3 in his six minutes. But as he said postgame, this is something he'll remember forever. Timberwolves doing right by Joe Ingles and Trey.

by the entire team, obviously noticing what Chris Finch was able to do. So a wonderful moment. They won the game. They won hand-to-hand. But yeah, they got it all together. As John Krasinski wrote that when Chris Finch told the players 35 minutes before the game, John Krasinski, everybody heard it. Everybody heard them in the locker room cheering so loud because it was just an incredible moment.

Anything to add? Not really. It's just cool. Yeah. It was an obvious winner of the weekend. Definitely. I was like, which one of us is going to take it? Because it's so, so good. And it's cool. And they won. And like, you know, that stuff can like really bond a team too. I think it has an impact on your locker room. So they obviously went to bat for him. And then like his comments, Joe Engel's comments after talking about being a parent with a child with autism and like, it doesn't matter how rich we are. Like,

like I thought it was very like real that he's saying like, you know, yeah, we're millionaires and yeah, maybe it can help in some regards, but it's still at the end of the day, we're just trying to get through our days at times, uh, parenting and the ups and downs of that. So it was really cool to hear him talk about it. And he just wants to raise awareness for it and sort of mission accomplished by him, by Chris Finch, by the entire wolves organization. Yeah. He's been doing it for years since his days in Utah. So yes, simply put. Yeah. Just a nice weekend. Uh, final one. I'll just make this quick. Uh,

The Pacers only played one game this weekend, but they took care of the Nets. 108-103 was their second game in a row against Brooklyn Nets. They had some tensions in a couple of these games, which was a little fun, but Siakam took over late in the final three and a half minutes. He scored eight of his 26 points. Shut the door on any sort of potential Nets comeback. Pacers have won four straight, six of their last seven. They're holding on to that number four seed in the East.

They definitely are looking like the Indiana Pacers of old. Like, even if you look at that Nets game, 32 assists on 40 baskets, 21 to 8 advantage and fast break points. That's the Pacers we know. Big part of it, Halliburton returned from an injured back, so he's back. There's another guy back in the lineup. He had missed three games previously, but he had a double-double, 16 points, 12 assists, 8 boards. One of those dimes, a half-court alley-oop pass to Obi Toppin. Did you see this? That was nice. Where the guy...

catches it and does a 360 on the oop. I mean, and Halliburton threw it from half court. That was nice. Guy can just, like, he just hangs in the air for as long as he wants. Like, no problem. Like, you know, it was sort of a bad pass or he caught it at a weird angle and just decided to 360 at home. And also within that game, Miles Turner had one of his best overall games of his season. 22 points, he hit five threes, he had eight boards, he had three blocks. And all of this was after seeing his sister, Maya, get taken off the court.

on a stretcher during pregame warm-ups. Turner said after the game, she's okay, and he didn't take many other questions. I couldn't find sort of any other updates, so I'm sure that's a good sign. The pacer said she experienced a medical situation while sitting courtside, and that's why she was stretchered out. And so, you know, they were all over it. They received, or she received immediate assistance. So just sort of a bit of a scare though, I'm sure. But then Turner follows it up with like, honestly, one of his better overall games.

So Pacers are rolling and hanging on, and now you get Halliburton back, and that's going to be a fun matchup, whoever they play there in that first round. And can the Bucs get revenge on them? Is that going to be a long series? I think it will be. So, yeah. Yeah, I wonder who Indiana would want to play because they're three games south of the Knicks for the third seed. So outside chance, they catch them. They've played Detroit pretty well this season. I think they're 3-1 against them. The Bucs, they're 1-3, but they had the playoff series last year. Obviously, the Bucs were...

But Milwaukee or Indiana, sorry, handled Milwaukee during the regular season as well. So they at least have a little confidence, I think, in that series. But they've definitely been playing their best basketball here in the second half of the season. They're playing fast enough right now. I feel like they were kind of caught in the middle at the first part of the season when they had a lot of injuries to Neesmith and Nembhard. It was like, we're not quite playing fast enough. We also can't play super fast basketball right now. Yeah.

That's the change from the beginning half of last season was once they made the Siakam move, they got to figure out the way to work him in. But now they're like ninth in pace rather than 13th. And I think that's really helped them. They're playing a little bit quicker, getting some easy baskets. Matherin has been huge during this stretch they've been rolling. Miles Turner has been playing really well. So they're rounding into form at the perfect time. Yep.

All right, those are our winners of the NBA weekend. Let us know who we missed, but let's do a round of losers. Trey, where do you want to start? Well, the Cavs destroyed my jazz yesterday, but they're still getting a loser of the weekend, kind of because I don't think they've had one this entire season. Probably not. So they need to get it in right now because they did lose on Friday to the Suns. Kevin Durant scored 42 points. He's now scored 40 against every team in the league. Suns, a potential winner of the weekend, I would have to say. But first, four-game losing streak.

of the season for Cleveland, which they snapped by beating the Jazz yesterday. But still, four games. Tough stuff for these guys. It did open the door for Oklahoma City to get the number one overall seed. They've passed them. I think they got a two-game lead for number one overall. And unless OKC just shuts it down, they're probably going to hang on to that. But Donovan Mitchell did not have a great run against...

The Suns, he went for seven points on two of 18 field goals. Had a little bit better game against the Jazz, 16 points on five of 13 shooting, but he hasn't been great since recovering from the groin injury in five games. 18 points per game on 31% field goals. And the Cavs' offense has similarly taken a nosedive. In those five games, the Cavs are only 14th on offense.

I thought the defense was more the problem against the Suns, but I'm just trying to think if there's anything that would make me actually feel nervous for the Cavs because they're playing their worst right now, but also they don't have a ton to play for. They're going to be the one seed in the Eastern Conference. Probably not the case with the Thunder playing so well, but as a noticer who is noticing things, the Magic, the Clippers, and the Kings, I thought all out physicaled.

the Cleveland Cavaliers, and that's going to be the worry for them because Mitchell and Garland, awesome players, having great seasons. They are still on the smaller side. Same with Jared Allen and Evan Mobley. Great players, having awesome seasons. They're skinny. When we think back to the Cavs falling short a couple of seasons ago as the Knicks bodying them

on the offensive glass. And then when you think about last year against the Orlando Magic in the first round, like that went seven games. That series probably shouldn't have gone seven games, but the physicality definitely gives Cleveland problems. There's not a lot of teams that can out-physical them. I don't think that they're going to run into unless they get a bad draw with the play-in tournament, have to deal with the Magic in the first round, but...

a little hiccup here for the Cavs as we're nearing postseason time. You were talking about making your X-Factors wildcard list of teams when they get into the postseason.

Which Cavaliers player would you pick if you could only pick one? It's Jared Allen for me. Okay. I think you can make a case for Garland, though. Definitely. You can talk me into Mobley. I think Mitchell sort of, he's fine. But, like, yeah, that was my point. There's, like, sort of a lot of almost X-Factors, if you want to call them that. Like, they're sort of, these are, like, super X-Factors in terms of going very far. Capital X. Yeah, exactly. So, yeah, this is their roughest stretch. Are you concerned at all? Is this oddly a blessing in disguise? Like...

You know, I think it was S on the Daily saying, you know, you get humbled a little bit here. Maybe it's a bit of a wake-up call that you're not invincible. Because when they were winning that latest winning streak, they were pulling some of those out of their ass. Like, they were not, like, convincing 20-point victories in some of those. Those were, like, games where we were like, holy crap, how did they win that? So maybe it's, I don't know, maybe it's oddly a good thing, sort of a wake-up call. I guess. Yeah.

Yeah, it's a question of why aren't they playing hard enough, basically. Because they should be playing harder. Because they don't have nothing to play for, as you just said. Take your foot off the gas. It's human nature. Yeah. So is it a blessing in disguise? I mean, they're just going to turn on at the right point, it feels like.

I look at Donovan Mitchell and I say, well, maybe he's not going to be right for the playoffs. His numbers just aren't that good. But then I thought back last year, something similar happened where he wasn't playing a lot to end the season after, you know, he carried the team for months in March and April. He didn't play all that much. He played,

eight games in March and April total. And he wasn't shooting all that well. But then the playoffs started. He was good. You know, he was rocking it. Jared Allen also should be noted. He didn't play a lot in last year's playoffs. He played those first four games. He sat out the rest of the first round. Didn't play in the second round against the Boston Celtics. So that is a big difference for this team. Yeah, it's just a question of are they just in chill mode or...

I don't know. Are they done? Or have teams figured something out? Yeah, they're not playing that hard, really. We will see. They got a couple easy ones on the schedule here in Portland, San Antonio, after that Jazz one that you said they got the victory. And then it's good teams in the Pistons, Clippers, Knicks, stuff like that. Apparently they played horse this weekend on Saturday afternoon. You'll never guess who won.

No sarcasm. The Cleveland Cavaliers just played a game of horse. No sarcasm, Darius Garland. No, deeper. Deeper. Ty Jerome? No, just around there. But even deeper, I'd say. Isaac Okora? Wow. You're getting closer now. DeAndre Hunter? Dean Wade? No, he's got one skill set he's really good at. Tristan Thompson? No, not that deep. You're going to get there. Max Struess? No, close. That's the right skill set.

DeAndre Hutto. Sam Merrill. Sam Merrill. He won because he just shot three-point shots, apparently. Oh, I hate that. Apparently he didn't go below the three-point line, according to our report here. I don't mind if you take normal jumpers and threes when you're playing horse. You gotta sprinkle in some trickery. It's not a shooting contest. We're playing horse. Horses are wild, man.

Horses are wild. You don't want a broken horse. I've never beaten Laura in horse. Literally never once in our lives. And it's because she takes the Sam Merrill strategy. She's like, I'll make an 18 footer all day. I'm like, I will shoot a bounce off the floor from 40 feet all day. And never hit it. Yeah, but if it goes in, what a horse shot. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Lee Ellis had a little bit of that in him too. Oh yeah, man. All right, free throw. Yeah.

His one trick was putting his hand in his opposite pocket. I hated that shot so much. All right, so Cavs finally get a loser of the weekend. I think you're right. That's got to be the first time. And they have a lot of winners of the weekend this year on No Dunks.

That was easy.

What about you, Tass, who gets a loser? At first, I was going with the Lakers. I didn't like the way they looked against the Bulls. But then I saw Kelly Oubre's fit, and I didn't like this at all. He picked three things from his closet that didn't match whatsoever. Okay.

On the top, it's a Jimi Hendrix very loud shirt. The pants are curtains or drapes or something that doesn't match. What are those? Those are bear paws for slippers. I guess they're used if somebody from the opposing team comes to the bench, you can just throw up your foot and you hit them with the bear nails, I guess. But that is just an odd fit. What a look.

They just don't match. Nothing matches. Oh my God. When you get to the bottom, then it's... For Kelly Urbe Jr., I don't... Like, that pan down is perfect. I'm like, okay. Cool shirt, honestly, in my opinion. Then you get the pants. You're like, okay, not for me. But you can pull it off. But then you get to these...

These bear slippers, those are disgusting. I don't like those. That's a loser of the week. I'm with you. It just gets a little weirder. You see the pants, you're like, okay, maybe he's going for a hippie vibe. And then creature features on the feet. Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey's wearing the biggest football jersey of all time. I think Will Smith was wearing that at the beginning of Men in Black. Oh!

I don't like those at all. They look like separate toes, too, almost. I know they're not, but it looks like it. Yeah, the Hawks broadcast did this on purpose because they showed Kelly Oubre a few times and they showed a wide shot, but then they said, you know what? Let's tilt down. Let's go from body to feet. And that's a real reveal of those fur things that he's got. Yeah, the 70s or even 60s type of pants are kind of cool. Yeah. But they don't match the top. No, not at all. He's just grabbing stuff.

And then he puts on those beer paws. The beer paws. It's weird, man. This was here in Atlanta? Yeah. Nice. What a cool look, man. Very cool look. That's it. He could pull off a Jimi Hendrix Halloween costume, I think. I know. Just an idea. Sure. So what does he wear? He just...

Well, he'd have a headscarf tied, you know. He'd have to get a guitar. Something with an open chest. I just think in general he could pull off the vibe. He could, yeah. And that's why when you see the Jimi Hendrix shirt, you're like, okay, that's him. How tall was Jimi Hendrix? Why? Jimi Hendrix was a bucket? I bet he was under six feet. He was. He was basically my height. 5'10". Yeah.

He looked small. Interesting. Such a stage presence. Such a stage presence. Big pants. Yeah. I think I thought he was a bit taller, but okay. He's 5'10". So, yeah. Kelly O'Brien Jr. could be a souped-up version of Jimi Hendrix for Halloween. All right. Final loser of the weekend. I'm going to give it to the Hornets. Here's why. Andrew Wiggins scored 42 points to help the Miami Heat beat the Hornets 122-105 on Sunday night. That snapped a 10-game losing streak for Miami. They needed...

Big Andrew Wiggins game. He gave it to them. And obviously we got Wiggins playing his old team in the Warriors here on Tuesday night with Jimmy Butler in town. A lot of comments from Jimmy Butler. Maybe we can talk about that tomorrow. But anyway, the loss dropped the Hornets to 18-53. And you won't believe this. They are officially eliminated from the postseason. The Hornets have not made the playoffs since 2016. That was a seven-game first-round loss to Miami.

So that is now nine consecutive seasons here, which is the longest running NBA postseason drought. They did play in a play-in game. If you want to count that. I remember that. We're not counting that. They didn't make the playoffs to me. So this is nine consecutive seasons. They've had one winning season over that stretch. They were 43-39 in the 2021-22, the year they played in that play-in.

Since then, you know, they've had 36 win seasons. Two years ago it was 27 wins and it was 21 wins last year. Now, like I said, they're at 18. So they're going to finish somewhere maybe low 20s, if that, at this point. It's just wild that they have had all these lottery picks over the last whatever, 15 years or so, and not many have panned out. And I was looking at it and it's rough. Since 2012, the Hornets have drafted and kept 10 lottery picks.

Here they are in order. Michael Kidd Gilchrist. He was a second overall pick. Cody Zeller. He went fourth. Noah Vonley. He went ninth. Frank Kaminsky. He went ninth. Frank the Tank. Malik Monk. He went 11th. PJ Washington, 12th. LaMelo Ball. Okay. He went third overall in the 2020 draft. James Booknight.

Is that the guy that looks like a cat? Yeah, that's Nick Smith. They both sort of look like cats. Nick Smith definitely, I think. I think Book Knight does too, though. Anyway, he went 11th. He's horrible. Brandon Miller went second in the 23 draft, and then they drafted the French kid Tijon Salon here at sixth, and that is not looking like a good pick. I just gave you that list. I mean, there's Brandon Miller, good. LaMelo Ball, obviously the only one with any accolade on this list. Any accolade, really.

Okay, there were some all-rookie selections, but he, LaBella Ball, won Rookie of the Year and he made an All-Star team. That's it of all these guys. And, of course, Brandon Miller looks like he's going to be a promising player. And you might be wondering about Mark Williams. He went 15th, so that's just outside the lottery, but they did draft him. Then they tried to trade him, but then he came back. Anyway, this team desperately needs to win Cooper Flag. Or at least, I mean, a top three pick here and nail another one because this is rough.

And they haven't won a playoff series since 2002. That's over 20 seasons. They haven't won a playoff series since 2002. Well, I think they were back to Charlotte by then. Okay. Yeah. Wow. But fun game. Let's do it. Can you name the starting lineup?

For game one of the Hornets Magic Series in 2002, when they last won a playoff series. And that was a best of five. That's how far you got to go back for when they won a playoff series. Was Jamal McGlore starting at center? He didn't start, but he played in the game. How about David Wesley? He started. Nice. Just by the way, game one of this series, 80-79 Charlotte. What a game. It got better as the series went on. Anyway, yeah, he started. David Wesley. Here we go.

You can get that. His backcourt partner. Who was it? Oh, come on. He's in the podcast game. Yeah, Baron Davis. Oh, okay. Baron was rocking. Played all 48 minutes of that game. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Now, give me some bigs. Some wings and bigs. Give me some bigs. Oh, boy. I think this guy. Jamal Mashburn? Yeah, and I think he got hurt in that game. And I'm not sure he returned that series. Jamal Mashburn started, though. Yeah, and now two bigs. David West? No. I was going to say, these are two just like.

Classic Hornets big guy, so you know. They played for other teams too. Matt Geiger? One most notable for the Celtics probably and one most notable for the Lakers. Okay, Eldon Campbell? That's correct. Nice Lakers hint. Yeah, and then the other guy. Celtic big guy, so probably they're four. Yeah, he's a 4-5 here, yeah. Yeah, I think he's a four. From the Celtics? I mean, he had his best playoff moment. PJ Brown. There you go. PJ Brown.

I see how they scored 80. I think I saw a rando fact that Jamal Mashburn has the most field goals in Charlotte history. Really? I think so. Careers? Yeah. And in most field goals, which is a weird one. Kemba, I would imagine. Yeah, I don't know why Kemba wouldn't have it. Maybe Mashburn was around longer.

Yeah, maybe. Wow. Anyway, it's been bad. It's been bad for 20 years. It's been really bad for almost 10 now. And yeah, they need to nail a star damn player here. They need to nail a player. I mean, they got to get... Cooper Flagg would obviously be awesome, but whoever they get has to play and has to play well because Melo has been playing in a lot of these games and...

The guy's in year five and it feels like a regression. I mean, he's putting up massive stats, but they're playing like a tanking team. And like you're saying, they were on an upward trajectory. Yeah. 2022, they did make the play in. They lost by 30 points to the Hawks. But at least you're like, okay, LaMelo was a rookie of the year. Yeah.

He was an all-star. We made the play in. We're going the right way. And everything has been bad since then. They've been one of the worst teams in the league. Lomelo is now on a gigantic contract that goes through 2029. And if the team is winning 15 to 20 games a year and the guy is playing, how long are they going to keep him around? Like, is he going to be the face of their rebuild still if they hit on the lottery and get Cooper flag? I don't know. I think Lomelo was a guy who could be in play for some teams this summer. Yeah, possible. Yeah.

Charlotte has to be thinking about that because since they made that great run where he was an all-star. Great run. That was it. That was our run at least. Yeah, he played 75 games, but since then, fewer than half the next season, way fewer than half the following season, and he got to more than fewer than half this year. He's more than half, but 46 games right now is not a lot. Am I insane or James Borrego left after that season too? Yeah.

Right? After the successful above 500. Yeah, I think so. I think Clifford came back. They found the dog. They did find, re-find the dog. Tough to lose that big red dog. That's a great point. Yeah, he did. What happened there?

Why? They said we need defense. Bring back Steve. It's because they lost by 30 to the Hawks in the play. We need Steve back in here. And now, obviously, Lee's getting a chance. And I assume he gets more than this year, especially with the Brandon Miller injury. And he should. And he should. But, man, that's been bad. Anyway, taking you down a little history lesson there of the Charlotte Hordes. It's been rough. Those are our losers and our winners of the NBA weekend. Again, tell us who we missed. Pick'em game tonight, Taz. We've got a battle here.

You've separated yourself from the bottom of the pack by a couple games, but Trey and Ash are right there. I saw this one, and I was just wondering how the Lakers are going to respond after that poor loss to the Chicago Bulls. They're going to Orlando to start a four-game road trip. They are four-and-a-half-point favorites in Orlando. So I was comfortable taking the big magic team with me.

with those points. Well, you guys all thought, oh, the Lakers are going to smash the Magic. I hear what you're saying. The Magic did beat LA earlier this season when they played in LA. I think the size is a good sign for them. It'll be on NBA TV if you're in that kind of mood. But the Lakers, yeah, they're off to... This is a tough part of the schedule. As I said, 21 days left.

A lot of road games. They've got a dozen games. Eight are on the road. Start a four-game road trip here. They've got the third toughest sked the rest of the way. Twelve games. Half of them are back-to-backs because they've got three sets of back-to-backs. So it ain't easy. It ain't easy for them. That's why I'm sort of thinking they've got to start this road trip with a victory here. That's why I'm taking them, but...

It could easily be a magic win. I don't know. Although, like, teams that have really given the Lakers problems, like sort of up and down teams playing a little more fast and loose, that's not really the magic all that much. But, yeah, I took the Lakers. You're with me there, TK. Yeah, I just feel like they need to win. They lost to the Bulls. You got to win the games you can win to get your seating right in the Western Conference. Good point.

Keep Goga off the glass, though. Good luck on that. Yeah. So that went on NBA TV, you said, and probably will be on playback as well because we'll be jumping on tonight around 8.30 p.m. Eastern. Catch the second half of that game. I think we have Wolves Pacers as one of the early starts. Seems like it'll be a clutch game. Yeah. They only play clutch games, it feels like. True, true. And, you know, we're such sickos that I'm sure at one point we'll jump over and look at the Raptors Wizards for a couple minutes. Oh.

Otherwise... A random guy during that...

Oh, for sure. For sure. So join us on playback. That link is also in the show notes. Join the room and you'll be alerted when we go live. But we're thinking around 830 p.m. Eastern tonight. Yeah, the Wolves Pacers, they played just, I don't know, it's two weeks ago when Obi Toppin hit those monster shots to kill the Timberwolves effort there. So that should be a fun ending. Yeah. All right. We'll call it there until either tonight on playback or tomorrow here in the Classic Factory. Clipper Bros. You heard it here first. Have a great time. Turn up.

Love you guys. Awesome. Thanks for joining us. And remember, listen, I'm doing my research here because I apologize for bringing up Jamal Mashburn as the most field goals in Charlotte history because it sounds stupid when you say it. It may have been a Hornets thing, you know, like preseason.

Pre-Bobcats. Adding them all together? Yeah, maybe. Anyways, still don't know. I still don't know. We'll figure it out here. All right. According to basketball reference, I don't know if this is breaking it down by franchise or what the deal is, but the Charlotte Hornets career leaders, Kemba Walker. That makes sense. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, that's what basketball reference says. Because he's their all-time leading scorer, for sure. Yeah. I remember that happening. It's just a weird thing with the franchises. That's probably what throws it at it.

We'll get to the bottom of it. We'll get to the bottom. We'll lead tomorrow's show. Yeah, probably. Extremely important. Brace today, people.
