Two. Yeah, we had a good talk about that because there's a lot of thoughts about a guy like me wearing two chains. Two chains. Two chains. Hey, everybody. Welcome to Literally with me, Rob Lowe. Lamorne Morris is here. I'm so proud of him. He's got an Emmy nomination for his amazing work in the current season of Fargo. I loved him in New Girl.
But even better than that, we stole him to star in season two of Unstable, currently streaming on Netflix. And he's so funny in it and such a great actor and such a great guy. One of my favorite people, Lamorne Morris. Yeah, so I had a chain on, two chains when we met. Two chains. Oh, yeah. And so how does that affect your perception of meeting me?
It makes it more, you're more awesome than I thought. Come on now. More awesome than I thought. Because it's interesting, being such an iconic figure, when you meet somebody, you're like, you don't know what you're going to get. And then when there's an added level on top of that, you go, what? Yeah.
That's dope. That is dope. And then obviously getting to know you over the course of filming. It was a chef's kiss, my friend. Oh, the chef's kiss. The chef's kiss from the Emmy nominee, baby. How has your how has your life changed since the Emmy nomination?
It's just been more hectic. It's only been a day. And just trying to... Essentially, I haven't had a chance to soak it in yet. This is the first time I think I'm sitting down and absorbing it. Because it's been interview, interview, this, this, friends, text messages, calling family, and
It's really, it's like being, it's like it being your birthday times a hundred. Times a hundred. Yeah. It's a, it's a, it's a big deal, man. It's going to be great. It's like, yeah. So deserved. I mean, I want to get you now an Emmy for our show. I mean, you've got, you've got one for Fargo, but I think, I think you've got to get one for Unstable when Season 2 comes out. Right? Why not? That would be awesome. Are you kidding me? You know, they, it's like, they're like, what is it?
It's like being struck by lightning. They say if you're struck by lightning once, you're X amount of times to be struck by lightning again, if you believe it, or hole in one in golf. You get one hole in one, all of a sudden you get two or three. So I think this is the beginning of a run for you. Oh.
Oh, well, your mouth to God's ears. We'll see. Just getting one was a weird dream. In my mind, when you're becoming an actor, you just want to do some cool stuff. That's the goal. I just want to do some cool stuff, and I want people to go, oh, man, that dude's funny, or that dude's a good actor. And an Emmy nomination is beyond my wildest dreams. I never...
When I was on New Girls, it was seven years. So at one point I thought maybe seven seasons, maybe I'll get a nomination and never did. And, you know, obviously it happened. And I'm not even thinking about winning or anything right now. I'm like, I'm still soaking it in. Did you get that early morning phone call where your phone rings like, who's calling me at this hour? Well, you know what's crazy? I always heard about that phone call, right? And so I woke up.
early because my daughter sometimes surprises me with when she feels like waking up. And she surprises me by jumping on top of me in my room. So she'll run in my room. So I got up a little early that day and she comes running in the room and I didn't even think about like, you know, today is Emmy nomination day. But once it popped in my head, I looked at my phone and there were no missed calls and no text messages. And I just thought, you know, didn't happen, you know, and that's fine.
I had the time wrong. I thought it was 8.30 Eastern, but it was Pacific. And I was like, oh, so it could still be. It could. Okay. I'm not going to think about it. So...
We're eating breakfast and my manager texts me and goes, in a group text with my publicist, my manager, and they go, woohoo, Fargo got nominated. And I wrote back, woohoo, exclamation, because I had a feeling Fargo was going to get nominated. And I was like, oh, that's not a big shock to me. But my question to them was, do I get to go? I was like, I want to go to the Emmys. Does the whole cast get invited? And they were like, and then I got a call.
Of them going, of course you get to go, dumbass. You got nominated. And I went, well, yeah. Yeah, I know. You're like, why didn't you say that? Yeah. Well, no, I meant like Fargo got nominated. Yeah. And they were like, no, just now you were nominated. I'm like, what? Because there was, I don't know, man. It's so exciting. Yeah. It's so exciting. It's crazy, man. It's crazy. It's so exciting. Yeah. That kind of adrenaline and.
That's awesome. That's so great. That's so amazing. Oh, man. Thank you, man. Thank you. I was super excited for you. I knew I was going to be seeing you. So I was like, I'm going to say my congrats until I can do it via Zoom. Yes. This is a great setup you have here. In the back, yeah, in the back there. I'm in our studio here, Hidden City, right? Did I pronounce it right? Yeah.
Yes. Hidden City Studios in Santa Barbara. And then when I'm in LA, I'll go to Sirius to the mothership there. But when I started, I started it in my house and I'm building a new house and I'm going to go back to the house probably when I...
But I love it. I got here in this Katy Perry's vocal booth here. Well, that's Katy Perry right there. That is Katy Perry. Why do I feel like you know Katy Perry? I do know her because she's a Santa Barbara girl. Really? Yeah, she went to high school here and grew up here and now has moved back here. Now she and Orlando have kids up here. Or a kid. Orlando Bloom? Mm-hmm. Really? They're together. They have a child.
Every time there is a woman out there that I feel like I may have a shot with, if I just meet her, I then find out somebody like Orlando Bloom is already dead. You would have had a shot, dude. You're a baller. I would have been. You just missed your timing. It's all about timing. It's all about timing. Zoe Kravitz, same thing. Zoe Kravitz. And by the way, those are two very, very beautiful. I mean, they're like...
Yes. That's how I describe Katie. Yeah. I dream big, man. Listen. Yeah. I could keep dreaming bigger, bigger, bigger. Well, this is your moment, bro. You got to be, you know,
Like, going, like, this is it. You might meet somebody at the Emmys. That's true. That's true. That's why I'm not bringing a date. Well, I'm bringing a date, but my date is my mom. Yeah, you got to. You got to bring my mom. Yeah. Yeah, 100%. I mean, it's a long way from South Side of Chicago. I know. Oh, my gosh. And she acts like she doesn't like these things, but she does. Amazing. Oh, yeah. All the movie premieres, she loves it. She loves it. She's going to get all glammed up. It's going to be amazing. I know.
No, that's her thing, man. She gets to, you know, she gets to talk with different people and people she sees on TV and movies. And it's fun. It's always fun to have her involved with what I'm doing. I'm super psyched. So the Emmys are September. First week of September, I think. Sixth, maybe, I want to say. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. By the way, traditionally, pro tip here, not that it matters, not that it'll change anything. Hmm.
The hottest red carpet on planet Earth always. Oh, wow. Always.
So no AC. It's what's September in LA outside middle of the day. It's just, it is like they might as well have it on the surface of Mars. Maybe no velour, maybe no velvet. Well, my, my plan will, will, my plan of styling would be, would be accurate then because I plan on going shirtless for this thing. Please.
Please do. Don't even joke. Don't even set that bar because that would be so sick. And with just chains, we could go back to the chain conversation. Oh, yeah. Shirtless. Oh, I got in shape too. Use it or lose it. Yeah, exactly. Use it or lose it. I'm ready to lose it. Now, my question to you is, and if I were a better executive producer, I would know the answer to this.
Have you seen season two of Unstable yet? Yes. Great. Yes, I have. Yes, I have, man. And I'm very excited for the fans to see it. Tell me what you thought. Tell me your takeaway. Dude, I thought it was great. I thought it was... It's different from season one. It feels more cinematic and more...
grounded in a way than season one. But it's weird because it feels more grounded, but funnier too. Right? You know what I mean? You guys together is one, because I'm on set watching you and Johnny. I'm watching you two together. When I say the dynamic of the show, it sometimes mirrors real life. It's so funny to me to watch how you guys work together and bounce ideas back and forth.
It's one of the more beautiful things I've ever been a part of and been able to witness in real time because there were some moments where I'm in tears laughing. I just remember there was a moment where he was doing something in a scene. And I think you walked up and fixed his hair. You went, hmm. And you did this. Yeah.
I was in tears because he kind of gave a look like, Jesus, what the fuck are you doing? You're like, fixing your hair. I'm trying to help you. Trying to help you? Yeah. And on the show, I think there might even, I think there was a scene where you're like,
Like tell him he needs to get a haircut. Yes. Yes. And I go, this is real life. People need to understand. This is an inside look. You know, so I was really excited to see it all come together. Yeah. I'm so glad you like it. You're so funny in it and such a great addition. And in a part that I think is a hard part because you're asked to be –
friend and potentially foe, maybe a little like a threat to Ellis and a friend to Johnny's character, but also a
I mean, you get to play this story wise. They ask you and your character to carry a lot of water, you know, to really drive the plot of of season two. And what's so great about you and I can't imagine anybody else doing the part is you're just so goddamn likable and you just want to spend time with you, which I do. And particularly if you have no shirt and a lot of chains.
Listen, that's the no shirt effect, you know, and I'm okay with that. It's a real thing. You know, people don't talk about it enough. They don't. Where you're from completely shapes who you are. Smith into the show. That was a funny day. That was a really that was a really funny day when we decided we were doing this is a scene you guys listen where we were.
my character and Lamorne's character are being interviewed. And I don't know how we got on the Stephen A. Smith riff. I think right before that, we were talking about... No, I had just watched Stephen A.'s rant against Jason Whitlock. Oh, that's right. I had just watched it. And so I, in a take, just started doing it a little bit. And then you, after the take, you go, can I ask you something? I said, yeah, you go...
Stephen A. Smith. And I said, yes. And he goes, oh, dude, did you see the, I said, yes. Your words were, lean into it. Just, just for the sake, just lean into it. And, and once you get a green light like that, you're like, okay. I listen, that's my, probably the only thing I do
creatively as an EP is I just tell people like you and Fred Armisen to swing away. Fucking tee off. You know what I mean? Give me a little Stephen Eck. Give me a... Wait, wait, wait. Let me just first and foremost let me just say this. I do enjoy being here on this podcast.
But if I got to sit here one more time and bloviate about all the things, all the things that we had to do that day, I tell you what. It's so good. I love it so much. Oh, my gosh.
Yeah, I got a chance to do that a little bit. They had asked me to do like the top sports center, like not top 10 or something like that. Yeah. And I didn't know how to, I'm not a sportscaster, so I immediately just started going into Stephen A. Smith and he confronted me about it. No way. What did he say? In a positive light, he's like, don't think I didn't see you. I saw you. I saw you. I saw what you were doing. And he was like, good, good, good, good, good. Yeah, yeah. That's good. That's good.
Amazing. You are a sports fan. I want to ask you some Chicago-centric stuff. First of all, at what point do you give up on the Chicago White Sox? Never. Never? No. Well, they had given up before, and in 2005, they won the whole thing. Right. So for me, and I don't even follow baseball that much.
But I do know that the tides turn. You know what I mean? The tides do. The Southsiders don't give up. This is a historically bad team. It's historically bad. But there's only one way to go from here. That's true. Okay, I buy that. Now, if they're historically bad for 10 straight seasons, then you go, oh, man, they might be.
Ooh, they might be the Pistons. They might be the... So you're not going to be like my boy, my brother, Chad Lowe, who loves rooting for teams that are terrible. Like, I go, what is the deal with...
But it turned around for him, though. I shouldn't say that. The Bengals finally turned around. Yeah. Big time. Bengals. I mean, listen, the Cubs did it, too. The Cubs did it. All right. You've convinced me. Now, let me ask you this. How is it that I didn't know that you won a Chris Farley award? Am I getting this right? Yeah. Yeah. So in this town, I grew up in Chicago. And in the Burbs, there's a college called College of DuPage.
It's a two-year college, but the curriculum is intense, including their theater program. And I think that's where the Belushis went. Oh, wow. You name it. A lot of folks went through, I want to say Gary Sinise and a lot of cats. A lot of cats went through College of Change. The Chicago made men. Yeah. The Dons of Chicago. Yeah.
Listen, it was, you know, I'm not, there is, there are some murals around the city with me and Belushi and, you know, I'm just saying, you know, I'm just saying. It ain't bragging if you've done it, bro. Listen, you don't need to explain yourself to me. I'm down with it for sure. And so Chris Farley being a Second City guy, Second City has a scholarship in his honor.
And so they'd give it out to certain students in colleges and stuff like that. So I won the Chris Farley scholarship for College DuPage. And so that paid for my education. That's awesome.
First of all, I love that there's such a thing for Chris. Oh, yeah. He's somebody that, obviously, you grow up in the comedy space. You know of him. You see now a lot of performers that pull from him. He was a...
And then even him a little from Belushi. And that's kind of how comedy keeps going. You know what I mean? We take a little bit from this person. We take a little bit and we create our own thing. And Chris Farley had his own thing for sure. You know, God rest his soul. I am very grateful he was a performer because he paved the way for a lot of us. There was nobody like him. He would...
He could and would do anything to make you laugh. There was nothing he wouldn't try. So you spent a lot of time around him? You spent some time around him? Well, we did Tommy Boy together. Oh, that's right. Yeah, yeah. That's right. Holy crap. Yeah. I keep forgetting I'm talking to Rob Lowe. I keep, like, shit, of course.
Yeah, he was, he was, he was, and they're making it. Apparently they're making a Chris Farley movie. Yeah. Who? Um, but I always think that's a mistake. It's like, nobody can be Farley. Like you're, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I forgot. I was talking to just now. Tell me about the SNL movie in which you play Garrett Morris. Man, it's going to be great. It's going to be great. Um,
Jason Reitman directed it. The cast is incredible. We've got some really heavy hitters in it. We've got some OG heavy hitters in it too. We've got Willem Dafoe. We've got Brad Garrett. Who does Dafoe play?
He plays an executive. He plays an NBC executive who's, I'm not going to spoil anything, but he's- Well, I know all those guys. What's his, what's the character? I was around in those. What was his character's name? That is- Oh, David Trebet. Someone's telling me. Is that possible? Yeah, Trebet. Yeah. I don't remember him. Yeah, he worked, he was an executive at NBC who was really pushing for the show, but was looking at Lorne like, like, hey, you really need to make this happen. I'm going to give you a shot.
But on day one, it's starting to look like this should not happen. And so he's the looming eye. He's the one who's always in the background going, don't fuck this up, kid. Right. You know, J.K. Simmons plays Milton Berle.
And he is on another level in this movie. And that's saying something because JK can bring it. Oh, 100%. 100%. So we had a lot of fun. The way Jason shot this thing, we shot on film and he...
Man, this guy, his attention to detail is so precise. You know, we're doing a lot of one-ers, and if one little thing goes wrong, he needs to make an adjustment. I've seen, you know, directors that are like, eh, whatever. Yeah, yeah, exactly. But he's like, he's such an SNL fan, and he's such a...
He's like SNL was his comfort and his thing. You know what I mean? And he's a comedy buff. He's a film buff. So he he was like, you know what? This has to happen this way. And I don't want to let it might seem small, but the fans who know and the SNL OGs, they know. So let's let's keep it authentic.
And was, were any of the, of the, like, was Lorne, the real Lorne, was he around, were any of those folks around? I saw a picture of, it's so interesting because I was thumbing through a magazine, not totally paying attention. And it was one of four pictures on a page. And even out of context, one of four pictures, I went, oh,
That's Lorne from 1975 standing outside 30 Rock. And then I looked and it wasn't. It was a paparazzi shot from the set. Yeah, it was kind of amazing. Oh, yeah. They...
So Lauren wasn't involved throughout the process, but Jason did sit down with everyone from those times and interviewed everyone. And everyone was cool about it. I think. I think everyone was cool about it. And so he kind of got the blessing from everyone. I sat down with Garrett, which was incredible. What was that like? Man, it's so weird because you grow up.
You grow up with this guy who has your same last name. And as a kid, I used to tell people that he was my dad. Because my dad wasn't around. So I'd be like, oh, that's my daddy. They'd go, well, why are you poor? I don't know how money works yet. I'm a baby. Leave me the fuck alone. So...
Then getting the opportunity to play him and talk and sit down with him and discuss. He was so kind. He wasn't one of those folks that... If someone were to play me in a movie, I'd be real particular. Hey, make sure you do this. Make sure you... I wouldn't do it like that. Make sure it's like this. He said to me...
He goes, man, you're a fantastic actor. I've seen your work. I love what you do. You do what you're going to do just as long as you portray the fact that I never gave up. He goes, tell the real story about me. Just let the folks out there know that I wasn't a quitter.
and that I had drive and that I needed certain things out of SNL. And I think we did that. I think we did that. He wasn't concerned about getting his voice down, his vocal rhythms down. He wasn't concerned about any of that. He's like, you know, I just want to see what you do. But as long as you do that, you know, I'm happy. I don't want to look like no bitch. Yeah.
What's your favorite Garrett Morris bit? You know, it's interesting. Now doing the show, doing the movie, it would probably be he has this song called Get Me a Shotgun. It's like the Death Row Follies.
So he's on death row and he's there. It's like a little talent show to get out. And he sings a song about how he's going to get a shotgun and kill white. Yeah. Yes. He kills kill whitey. Yeah. It's amazing. I saw that shit live. I mean, so did you, right? Were you, were you around? Yeah. I grew, I grew up watching it live.
Wow. Yeah, no, I was born in 83. Of course. I mean, can you imagine seeing that? Imagine seeing that live. That's the thing about Saturday Night Live that you can't, unless you were there, you can't remember. It's like you literally thought, I can't believe that they're letting this on television. And it felt like they were making it just for you. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? If you were a comedy person, it was crazy.
Dude, how about Chico Escuela, right? Chico Escuela. Baseball, man. Very, very good to me. And then the…
uh close caption for the hard of hearing yeah a top story tonight oh yeah iconic man and a lot of folks when i tell what's interesting about him too is that when you talk to certain cats about about the movie you say oh i'm doing the snl movie or i just filmed the snl movie they go oh you play eddie murphy
They all assume that Eddie Murphy was the first Black dude on the show. And you go, no, he was the second. He came after Garrett. Garrett paved the way. And then Eddie talks about how Garrett paved the way. You have these iconic figures that you don't necessarily know
you don't know that those are the ones that formed the way your heroes think and the way your heroes perform. Because Eddie Murphy, to me, is the king. And I didn't realize until much later in life that Garrett paved the way for him. There are moments in this movie where
where my character is like animated and I get, and when I get animated, I start to sound, people always tell me, oh, you sound a little bit like Eddie. When you get animated, you start to just go and then they go, I feel a little Eddie in there. In this movie in particular, I was trying to be Garrett. Yeah, sure. But then you realize, oh, Eddie got a little bit of that from Garrett. So you watch Garrett, you go, oh, I see some Eddie in there. And you go, no, that's Garrett. But,
you know, we know Eddie. Yeah. You get what I'm saying? Oh, listen, every, like you said earlier in the, in our little talk here is that everybody is inspired by everybody. And, and sometimes you can, it's obvious and other times it's not. And then what's really interesting about it is then people can go, Oh, so-and-so is just ripping off so-and-so. And, and,
it's like, oh, where homage is a complicated thing. And, you know, did you ever have this as an actor? Okay. You were just playing somebody real. So there's really analogous to playing something real where you, let's say on Fargo, cause you're not playing a real person. You're playing a character who was created by a writer where you do a scene and you, you say a line in a certain way and you go,
Oh, yeah. There's a little Morgan Freeman in that, I think, maybe. Or whoever, right? Because I definitely have that where I go, oh, yeah, I feel like this comes from watching a lot of Paul Newman or whatever. Yeah. Do you ever have that? Oh, a few times. So Denzel is somebody. Oh, your Denzel's great, too. But it's like it comes out in certain scenes when you're trying to be...
Especially in really still moments that you might have in a one-on-one scene where you're trying to say something to someone and really partake something. This information you really need to know. Sometimes, even when I'm rehearsing, I'll have to check myself and go, I feel like that was Denzel. There you go. I feel like I just tapped into Denzel.
Do I keep it? Do I keep it? Or do I make a conscious effort to not do that? Because Denzel is Denzel and it works whenever he does it. So that happens then. There are moments where if I'm like doing like sketches or whatever the case may be, and I have to pretend to be like an old black dude.
It's so funny. I always go into Robert Downey Jr. from Tropic Thunder. The best, best performance ever. Yes, it was. And I always find myself like, man, I'm playing, I'm trying to be an old black dude, but the only black dude I could think of in this moment is a white dude who's pretending to be a dude. Scrapped as another dude.
I'm always like, hell yeah, man. What an amazing performance. Oh my gosh. The category I'm in with him, it's insane because when I saw his face, we were nominated at the same time and I saw his face, I just immediately went, hmm, hmm, hmm.
Oh, yeah. He's he's he loves his fashion. He's going to be sporting some. He's going to I'm just saying he's going to be throwing down on the red carpet. Where you're from completely shapes who you are. If you're looking for change or rethinking the place your family will call home, you might want to give Ohio a closer look.

So what do you think? What do you think here? So, you know, the dilemma I have now is do I go for it? Like go for it fashionably? Do I go classic, you know, classic, beautiful tux, really classy? Or do I just say, listen, this is the Met Gala. Here's why I have a very specific answer for this. I think you should sneakily throw your name in the hat to be James Bond.
And the way you do it is by going full on fucking James Bond. Classic, some, you know, fucking new, new Vell Idris Elba shit and, and, and get in there. And the next thing you know, when they start speculating about the new bond, this is why I should be your manager.
Hey, listen. That was some good advice I gave you just now. Yeah. You've given me good advice on set too that I still think about. What'd I say? We talked about, I said, how the hell does Rob Lowe do all these TV shows at the same time, but he's the star of all of them? I said, how does that work? I thought you could only do, and you went, you got to have great agents, great lawyers. He's like, you got to have some killers on your team.
It's really hard, but you gotta have some killers. That is true. Yeah, that's true. My God, how does he get away with this? That's true. You, you gotta, you gotta be bold. And the other thing is you have to have, the other part of that is you have to have relationships because at the end of the day, if you know the people in Netflix and or at Disney and Fox, all three had to sign off on me doing both 911 Lone Star and Unstable.
at the same time. And if I didn't have a history with those people,
and in a relationship and we didn't like each other, like you'd be done. Like, and that's the thing people say, like, if you're a dick in Hollywood, there's no way you can, maybe you get a decade out of it. Maybe, maybe you get a decade and a half if you're, if you're, if you're just making hit after monster hit after monster hit, but they show you the door, the first opportunity they can. Yeah. If, if you're not a good partner.
And then if you're a good partner, when there's a, a jump ball, and by the way, this is more than jump ball. This was, this was a real, an amazing thing that we were able to pull off to do all the shows at once. That's, that's only because of the relationships that we have together at those various companies. So, you know, it, you know, being a good partner, that's the other part of it. Yeah. Yeah. That makes sense.
That makes sense. There are throughout multiple parts of my career, there was a dilemma. Do I do this? Can I do that? And you don't know if you're making the right decision or not. But always in the back of my mind, I would go, what would Rob Lowe do? Oh, he would do both. Yes. You're like, oh shit, that's an option? It's like, ah, maybe. Yeah.
Yeah, I love that. You've made my day with that. That's amazing. So what's the next couple months look like for you? Oh, next couple months are tricky. You know, I'm hosting Kimmel. That's going to be great. Yeah, I'm hosting a week of Kimmel. And then afterwards, I jump right into Spider Noir with Nick Cage. Do you do a Nick Cage impersonation?
I don't do one just yet. You will. I will. Oh, you will. Well, I tell you when I met him, we were doing wardrobe together and he comes out and he goes, oh, I'm just excited to meet my new best friend. And he comes and gives me a really big hug. And I almost started tearing up because...
That just made me so happy to know that Nick Cage is a nice guy. Yeah, oh, he's so great. Yeah. I mean, and he's on such a roll right now. Like, I love when OG made men like Nick. Mm-hmm.
go on a press roll and they don't give any more fucks nor should they and they've seen and done everything they've been up they've been down they're around they're fucking gold-plated yeah unassailable and they just let it rip and he has been on one and
And there's nothing better than a good Nick Cage interview. Nothing, nothing. Oh, I was in our dream scenario is a masterpiece. I remember seeing that going, I got a better watch dream scenario. I was in damn. And it was, he's, he's, he's an amazing dude. Well, you got lots. Yeah. I'm so excited to work with that guy. Yeah. I'm so excited to work with him. That's, that's, you know, again, it's,
When you start off as an actor, you just want to know you're in the right field. You're in the right business. You're not wasting your mom's money or gas driving you to auditions and things like that. And obviously, throughout my career, I get a chance to say, oh, man, I'm on a show with Rob Lowe. Oh, man, I'm on a show with Nick Cage. I'm doing something right. I'm supposed to be doing this.
You're crushing it. You're crushing it, man. And, um, thank you. And I'm so, I'm so happy for you. I really, I really am. And I can't wait for people to see, uh, what you do in season two of unstable. Again, it's so nuanced and, and, and,
I mean, in many ways, it's the most complex character in the show, really. It was definitely, especially coming in, it's like a new kid. You know, everybody had their rhythm. Everybody had their relationships with everyone. I was coming in kind of going, okay, can I go big in this scene? Should I keep it, you know? Because some of the characters are crazy. Some of them are...
more grounded. That's what I mean. The show has everything in it. You know what I mean? Some characters take you here. Some characters take you here. I was trying to figure out my relationship to all these characters and how and where I should go with them. And after watching it, I was very pleased. I was like, oh,
Yeah. Okay. The director knew what he was talking about. She knew what she was doing. Okay. Yeah. That's exactly right. It's like, where in the orchestra, you know, do you come in and,
One of the reasons I think that people are responding to season two in a way even above season one is we all knew our instruments so much better. Yeah. And we knew where to play in the orchestra and the orchestra for sure is, is, is season two is, is, is something and you're, you're a big part of it. So yeah.
Thank you, brother. I love you. This is great. Thank you, man. I'm glad you made time in your Emmy parade of, what was it? Victory lap. Your Emmy victory lap. Or, well, Emmy nomination victory lap. Yeah. And, oh, so here's a good one. So, and you should ask whoever's, here's what you do. You find out who is presenting your category. It's probably too early to know this yet, but once they announce it. Sleep with them. No, no, no, no. You do what Charlie Sheen did with me.
I'm on my, I'm presenting best. It's, I think it's your category, best lead actor. And anyway, whatever it was, this was best lead actor in a comedy. This was the comedy. Uh, and I'm dry. I'm driving to the ceremony. I get a phone call. It's Charlie. I haven't spoken to him in 15 years. Dude, it's Shane. I go, Hey man, I'm a scene. I know. Listen, um, so the odds of me winning this are, uh,
One in 15. I'm going to put $3 million down in Vegas. You read my name and I'll split it with you. And I was like, but we all know I'm going to open the envelope and it's going to say Alec Baldwin for 30 rock. He goes, no, no, I'll cause a commotion and you eat it. Oh, that is
That would be something. That would be something. I'm just saying. I would do it. I got to figure out, well, I got to figure out who's reading my category then. By the way, it's a great bet. Now, I wonder if he actually did put money down on that in Vegas. Because I didn't know you could bet on that. Of course you can.
Holy crap. Of course you can. I should go bet on myself. Yes, you should. Bet on yourself. Haven't you always been betting on yourself, though? Think about it. That's true. Why stop now? Yeah, what do they call those prop? They call them prop bets. Ah, okay. 100%, there's a prop bet you can do. 100%. Listen.
Hey, I'm going to call Charlie and be like, listen, let me talk to you. What bookie is the best bookie? Yeah, because I need to double up.
All right, man. This is great. You're the best. You are too, man. And we got to get you on the Le Morning After podcast at some point. It is a really stupid and silly and funny thing that I do. Anything called the Le Morning After, you had me at hello. You had me at good Le Morning. Yep. There we go. So we got to get you on one of these days. So we'll set that up too.
I'll come to you. I'll show up. I'll show up to wherever you're at. Great. I'm off to Ireland. I'm basically back after Labor Day. Ooh, Ireland. What's going on there? I'm doing seasons two and three of The Floor. Oh, my gosh. In Ireland? In Ireland. Wow.
That's awesome. Yeah, that's, I need to talk. This is what I mean. I need to talk to your people. I have an idea. I actually have an idea. Wow. I need to talk to you. I have an idea for you. Oh. I have an idea for you. Okay. Would you ever do a fucking smart, fun, big time game show? Of course. Are you kidding me? All right, bro. Okay. So I have, okay. All right. I'm on, I'm on some shit. I'm on some shit for you.
I just want to keep you working for the rest of your life. Oh, dude, I would greatly appreciate that. I'm on some shit. Dude, I'm on. I'm actually, I'm not kidding. Okay, I'm on some shit right now. All right, brother. Love you, man. I love that man. I've got a man crush on him. I'm not going to deny it. Come at me. It's the truth.
