In 1970, Canada made the decision to ditch Imperial measurements and go metric. If you think the carbon tax was a hot button issue, then the metric system was that multiplied by 1000. From Conservative MPs opening a gas station that sold by the gallon, to regular people suing the government, it was not an easy transition.
