Shownotes Transcript

So I don't think it was meant for me. I did audition for Nickelodeon once when I was like, like right before I quit. They hated me. Wait, what show? I know I saw like the Egyptian outfit out in the living room. The little king towel. Yes, the king towel. I was like, this is like history. Like this is an iconic piece. Like I can't believe I'm looking at it right now. Speaking of spinoffs, was there supposed to be a spinoff of Cam and Mitch and yeah. It was definitely pitched. And then I think...

Her name is Trish, she's got the fish and all the gossips, filthy rich, pretty and pink. Hot topic queen and that's what everybody thinks, she's just Trish.

Welcome back to the Just Trish Podcast. Today we have a TV icon. She plays Lily in Modern Family, but you can currently see her all over social media reviewing her favorite foods or playing her guitar. Everyone, please welcome to the show, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. Oh my, hi everybody. Wait, which camera am I supposed to look at? There's your close-up and there's the wide. Okay, cool. I was nervous. I'm still nervous. I was telling you right before, I'm like... No, I was nervous too. Which is wild. Okay, so we're...

It's a very rare thing that I currently meet someone I'm currently hyper fixated on, meaning we just restarted Modern Family. Well, it's kind of my first time watching it, but maybe a couple months ago we started watching from the beginning. And so now we're maybe on season, I don't know, four or five. And so it's probably more, like six or something. And it's so surreal to see you in person because we watch you literally every single night for probably four episodes a night for the past three months. Oh my gosh. I love that. Thank you for being here. Thank you for being a fan of the show. Yeah.

fan of you as well because I was also saying like I see you on TikTok and I just never, never put the two together that you were like the same little girl from a modern family, which is so crazy. So how are you? How is everything? I'm good. I'm good. I had a tap dancing lesson this morning. You know, I'm a musical theater nerd and I know you are too. So we need to delve in. Yes. I have so many questions. I did not know this about you. I listened to the Dinners on Me podcast with Jessica Tyler Ferguson and you guys were talking about you loved Hamilton and was it like Cap or

Oh yeah. Cabaret is one of my favorite musicals. Which is crazy. I had no idea about this. So you tapped in this morning. Are you like auditioning for something or? Well, I'm just preparing in case I need to audition for musical theater and stuff like that currently. And I might audition for colleges for musical theater next year. Oh,

Oh, wow. Yeah. So you are going to go to college. Maybe. Maybe not. Yeah. Because the thing is, if I booked a job right now that was steady, I'd be like, no, I'm not going to college. I'd rather work a job. But I could. The college life does seem fun. And I did some conservatory things over the summer. And I really liked the vibe. So maybe I will go to college. It really just depends on work. What's like conservatory? What is that? Like theater? It's like...

Conservatories are just like, yeah, like kind of like more like colleges for theaters, but like programs for it and stuff. So yeah, I was just doing, singing a lot for different colleges over the summer and stuff like that. Oh my gosh. I didn't know. I didn't know you were like a singer. Like I feel like they had to do so many things on Modern Family, but singing wasn't one that I've seen yet. No, it wasn't. It's actually funny because on Modern Family, I'm supposed to be a horrible singer because there's this one episode where the dads are trying to teach me how to sing.

And I can't sing. And I'm like trying to sing and I just can't do it. So it's really funny. Like everybody in my comment sections, they're always like, what? Lily can sing now? The other joke that people make is that they're just like, you know that one scene where it's like Dylan and he's like, Haley, Haley, I just want to do you. Everybody's like, you should cover that song. And it's to the point where I'm like, I feel like I should just do it because it's going to go viral. Yes.

Have you had a nanny yet with your band or anything? No, I have not. At one of your shows, you just start singing it. That'd be so funny. Imagine. Oh God. That would be really viral. I feel like you're so viral right now as like Lily from Modern Family. So to see like you grown up doing that, like actually being a good singer, people would lose their minds for sure. I mean, I try. It's funny though. Cause like, I feel like I'll post like music and stuff that I write and it'll like get the least amount of views. Really? Yes. It's like the, like, especially as of recent, and I think it has something to do with me being like getting verified on TikTok.

since I got verified, I have not gotten the same views that I did. That's so interesting. Have you joined like the creator program, like the creator fund, like got paid for it? I think you have to be 18. I could be wrong. Oh, you're right. I think you might have to be 18. I'm so, oh my gosh, your mom is here today, which is like so cool. I love it. Cause your mom's also like queen of food, mania reviews, tick tock, like everything I've watched so much and I'm like, okay, so excited, but I forget that you're 17 years old. That's awesome.

So you've been working since you were three and a half? Three and a half, four. I think I auditioned when I was three and a half or maybe I was freshly four. And then, yeah. And you're still like not burnt out from acting. You're like, I want to do another job. Well, the thing is, like, I took a break from it for a while, like right after the show ended. Like, it was crazy. The timing of the whole thing. We shot the last season in the last episode. And then COVID happened like a month after and everybody was in lockdown.

So like the timing was perfect for getting the whole show done. So then the whole industry was completely shut down for like a year or two. And then everything switched to self tapes instead of going in person for auditions and stuff. And like I doing self tapes, I just it's not my favorite. And at the time, just just auditioning in general, I was not experienced at it because I was on a show for so long. I never needed to get it right away.

Exactly. So I just, I didn't have that experience and I, it gave me so much anxiety when I was younger. I think I was about 12 and,

Or 13 and I told my mom I was like I want to quit and I did I quit for a while and I lived a little bit of like a normal life as much of a normal life as you could live in quarantine when you're in middle school And then I went back to regular school ninth grade And then I like started getting into my theater department and that's how I decided I want to get back into it Wow, how? Yeah surreal. How cool is that? So you're back in like regular school. You're in public school Yeah, I was in public school

Oh my gosh. And then you like join the theater program. Do you have to audition? Or they're like, you just starred on this huge series. So like... Well, the thing is like, it was a very small school, even though it is a public school, there's only 300 kids in like, not even just in the grade, but the whole school. So I just took the class there, which you don't have to audition to get into. Okay. And then, yeah, I did some of the musicals there and the straight plays and stuff. But yeah, you have to audition for those. Did people treat you differently? No.

And the thing is, right before I went to that public school that I was at, I went to a different high school. And that's where it's like a regular one where it's like there's 4,000 kids. And it's really crowded. And it's like, yeah, people will stare at you and stuff. And people are really nice about it sometimes. But it's just like it feels disrespectful. And I'm in the lunch line. And it's like, bro, I'm trying to eat a really shitty burger from the lunch line. I'm trying to eat at the cafeteria, girl. And people just keep coming up to me. And they'll FaceTime people and put the phone down.

on the phone in my face and stuff like that. Yeah, and it's just like, it was very overwhelming. Like fellow kids, fellow students. Yeah, students and stuff. Wait, that's, it must be so weird on both ends because if you're like a TV star that had been on for like the whole life to see you would be so surreal. Like I'm sure they couldn't help themselves but then to be you. It's interesting for sure. And like, I feel like I have to be careful about who I trust as a friend, especially like at school and stuff like that. I mean, now I have like a pretty solid crew of people that I love and trust.

But, you know, when like getting back into that after quarantine, especially where nobody's socializing at all, like navigating that was interesting. Yeah. That's, yeah. And then did you have friends while you're doing Modern Family that are your age? Yeah.

Well, I mean like outside of the show, like, yeah, but think about it. Like the kids, there was Rico, Nolan and Ariel. Those were like the main three kids in the show. And they were way older than me. I think they're like 25 right now. So they're way older than me. So it was kind of isolating on set because there was nobody my age.

And then, yeah. So you have like, yeah, so that must be, and then how many days are you working as a child? It just depended on the episode because sometimes I wouldn't even be in one. And the thing is, people like, it was like a thing in the industry at the time where it's like, Modern Family is like the best show to be on. Yeah. Because like, well, we had a really good craft services too, like the food and stuff. Yeah.

It was like apparently amazing compared to the other shows. I don't really know because I wasn't on the other ones. But like workload wise, the thing is there's the different houses. So it was like, you know, one day would be like for the Dunphy family and they would shoot that stuff. So it's like we wouldn't have to work five days a week. Like it'd be rare. Like unless we were on like,

Unless it was one where it's like, oh, we're doing the Disneyland episode where we're all there together for a week or we're doing like a holiday episode. Then it was kind of different and we had to work the whole week. But otherwise, like sometimes I wouldn't work at all in a week or I'd work one to three days, I feel like. Wow.

Wow. And how are you at that age? Like, what is even audition like? Because by the way, you're like living my dream. I think child stardom sounds like the best thing ever. Obviously, there's like documentaries out about it now that seems scary. Very, very scary. But I mean, yeah, that was that was like Nickelodeon, though. That's like a whole different situation. Like nothing at ABC was like that. Well, I mean, technically, ABC is owned by Disney. Oh.

Oh, so the Disney kids are fine. The Nickelodeon kids seem to have gone through some trauma. I feel like Disney, like being a Disney Disney kid though on the channel, it was like a completely different experience from what I had. That's true because they're around like other kids. So you're kind of on this like really grown up set. Yeah. Did you ever want to be a Disney channel, like a Disney Disney channel star? Like...

Yeah. Like not really. I mean, you can probably tell. I mean, on the character on Modern Family like was so tone deaf and like whatever. And I'm so like this. It's like you don't see Disney kids that are like really chilled out like this. You don't see Disney kids with like deep voices like this at that age. You know what I mean? So I don't think it was meant for me. I did audition for Nickelodeon once when I was like right before I quit. They hated me. Wait. They hated me. What show? I don't know. It was just like it was just to like go in for Nickelodeon and just for them to see me, I think. No.

No, I don't think it's for me. Explain it. I don't really know, but I went into the Nickelodeon office and I just read a couple scripts for them and stuff. I don't really remember it too well, but no. Like, I don't think that type of acting is for me. And I think, like, I've grown a lot since I've been in high school and had more experience with acting now and with other fellow students. It's been nice. Yeah. I have more experience now, even though it's just high school experience. Which is...

It was so wild to see you on the show as such like a little kid, like being so good. Because like you said, you draw from experience, but you don't really have experience at four years old. So like, how are you just... It's supposed to be natural. Because your mom's a comedian, right? Your mom was a comedian. Yes, she's a comedian. So it's just like in your genes to be a performer. I guess. I don't really know. I mean...

many people would say otherwise. I mean, I don't know if you've looked at like Reddit or like seen like things about me online, but it's like, dude, people would be like, she is the worst child actor. And the thing is, I'm never necessarily like you're wrong because like the thing is I had no experience. Like, I never like, you're,

You're so good. And I'm not just saying this like we talked about on the podcast. I think that's why we've DM'd because I talk about it so much. I'm just like, you're so good. Like your comedic timing, your stunt work. Like we watched the episode last night where you're doing like the face in the picture and they're not like telling you like that your smile is not good and you keep doing this weird face. And I was like, wait, how does she know how to be funny? Like how do you know to be funny at that age?

I mean, I, it just, I feel like it depends on who's directing that episode. I mean, I feel like there were a lot of people who were really good at dealing with the kids on set because they had had, you know, the other kids to deal with like Nolan and Ariel before me. So, and I had a great studio teacher. Her name was Ms. Sharon. So she really stood up for me throughout the whole thing. But my mom, like, you know, you can't really like read at the age of four or at least not that well. So my mom would just read the lines to me and then I would just memorize them because she would just read them. Yeah. Yeah.

wait, that's so crazy. So like, if your line is like, oh, thanks dad. She's going to, she tells you the line, but then is she also reading the other line? Like if she's camera Mitch, is she reading those lines and then telling you what to say after? Yes. And I mean, she could even explain like if you want to talk about it, cause you know better than me, if you would like to talk about it. Cause she's here. Yeah. Yeah. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. I'm so excited. You're so cute by the way. I was so excited to see her. Yes. Here she is. Come here. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Yeah.

I'm so fascinated. I look like such a slob right now. You look so cute. No, I love this whole thing. I look like I was just working on a construction site. I'm like, hey, what's going on? You're literally the cutest. I was so excited to see you. No, because I had like a busy morning and I was like carrying packages and stuff. I'm like, okay, let's go to Trisha's house now. Well, thank you both for being here. So, yeah, I'm so like fascinated by this. Okay, so like,

you're reading lines to her. So you're reading both the opposite and her lines and she's just repeating them after you. Basically. Well, and here's, okay, so here's a cute story from when she had the auditions because usually when you get on a network show, especially like since she joined third season, the show was already a huge hit and was...

syndicated and stuff like that. So you usually have to do like audition, callback, callback, producer session, chemistry reads, then you have to be network approved. And she only had to do three auditions, which is kind of unheard of. And I couldn't, I mean, I,

My agent wanted to submit her and I was like, because I'm an actor too, and I'm like, she's never going to book it. She's going to be going up against professional kids. Like if you're six and have never- How professional can you be when you're four years old? There are kids who have been working since they were in diapers, you know? Yeah, yeah. And I'm like, she had zero experience. She didn't know how to memorize a line or what a script was or what a set looked like or anything. And I'm like, she'll never book it. But my agent's like, let me just submit her. I really think she has a chance. I'm like, okay, fine. And she said she wanted to try. And I never-

ever thought she was actually going to book it and then 10 days later I was signing a network contract and I'm like oh shit wow yeah I couldn't believe it but when we went for her she did a chemistry read with Jesse Tyler and that was her last audition that's where she booked it on the way they shot on the Fox lot which they were driving from the valley down the Fox lot and we were running the scene it was like a two page dialogue with

like the dad and her. And then she goes, now let's switch it. You know, she's four. She goes, let's switch. I'm going to be the daddy and you play the little girl. I'm like, no, honey, we can't do that. It's going to confuse you. You're going to get screwed up. And she's like, yes, mommy, I want to do it that way. Okay. Once, but then we have to practice it in the normal way. So we did it and then we switched the lines. And then we were, I remember we were in the galaxy parking ramp. And I'm like, now do it the normal way. So you don't screw up when you're in there. And

Yeah, she – I mean, she didn't, like, nail it. No, but she – obviously, she did – she was what they thought was a good fit. Yeah. Yeah. What – I mean, it must be just – yeah, then it just comes down to remember all that at that age. So you're, like, learning all the parts. I mean, that's, like, super genius almost. Well, and here's another little secret behind the scenes, too, is that – so she mentioned her studio teacher. Her name is Sharon Sachs. She's, like, legendary in, like, Hollywood studio teacher land. Mm-hmm.

And she may be retired now, but anyway, shout out to Sharon. She's the best. She was there the whole run of the entire show and worked with all the kids. And when Aubrey was really little, you know, before she could read and stuff, she would kind of hide on set those like that first year or two. Like say if you're sitting on the couch with your dad and you had lunch, she'd sit behind the couch and she would prompt you if it was like a really confusing scene.

Because sometimes it was more than like three people talking or whatever. It was hard for her to know when to come in. And she would like prompt her like when her line would come up to like start saying it. So she did have a little help like that. Wow. I mean, but that is amazing to like get to do all of that. Were you going against like twins or anything to play, you know, like Mary-Kate and Ashley, like, you know, for the role? I doubt that they would have twins because, you know, they had twins before me to play Lily. And then they switched me out. The thing is, I think they wanted a kid that could be on for the whole show. So it would have been impossible for them to do twins.

to like switch it up. So that's pretty amazing. Wow. And then like Jeremy was played by twins. Wasn't it Jeremy? Yeah, he was. Oh, you haven't gotten that far yet. But like later, you know. They just had a baby. Yeah. So they had twins that played Jeremy before like the kid that actually like was the full-time kid. And it was a boy and a girl.

Because when they're babies, you can't tell the difference. Really? I have to watch it. I have to watch it now to see like which one is the boy, which one is the girl. That's – I wonder if you can tell. But it was – ironically, it was the girl who really wanted to be on the set and the boy would cry. Right. So Jeremy was mostly playing by a girl at the beginning. And are you there like every day that she's filming? She was. Yeah. Unless I was working too, then I'd have to hire a set sitter. Right.

Oh my gosh. Yeah, that's like a – because it is kind of like a full-time job to have like a child star and then to have your job and then to be with her. Like that's a lot. Like do you think you would want your kids to act? Oh, I would love it. And now hearing like this story of success makes me excited. But I heard so many bad stories. But I was like as a kid I wanted to be – at three I wanted to be on commercials. I was like full house was a thing. And I was like I want to do that. But my parents didn't know how. With my daughter, I was like maybe I should get her into stuff. And hearing this story makes me like excited about it. But I don't know. I mean the thing is like I would say –

wait till they know what they want to do. Like, really? I would say, wait. Yeah. Yeah. We both would say, don't do it. Really? Oh, so like, tell me, cause I think you guys are so like normal. And so, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know. I'm trying to think. Cause it's like, yeah. I mean, modern family has brought me so many blessings in like so many blessings into my life. And like, I'm forever grateful.

But like, I think kids need to have like a normal experience and I don't know if that's the way to do it. Okay. And I feel like I definitely was more troubled when I became older because of the show. Really? Yeah. Because everything I've heard. Yeah.

I'm like, what's trouble? I feel like I've had, like, troubled eras. Like, tell me, like, the show ends and what you feel, what do you feel when this ends? You're like, what do I do with, like, you're just, what, 12 when it ends? Yeah, I was like 12. And then... Um, yeah, I don't know. I just, I would just say wait because I felt like I didn't really know what I wanted to do after the show and I think...

like figuring out your hobbies and experiences for yourself is important not having your parents choose that for you and it's not like she chose that for me yeah because i said i wanted to do it but it's like how do you choose what you want to do for eight years when you're four years old like yeah probably as a parent you just think like i always think like oh you set her up you know you did the right thing so it is interesting to hear both perspectives of it you know what i mean and it's it's kind of like that with kids on social media now right it's like i have my daughter and it's like

how much do you put her on? How much do you not? She like loves to be on camera, but is it invasive? Is it like later on she's gonna be mad at me that I did that? I don't know. It's like such a. Well, I think, I mean, it's just my opinion, but you know, of course, like we always, there's a couple of different documentaries out about troubled child stars and people who said they were unhappy or were abused even, you know, like really horrible things. But I, my belief is the majority of kids in this industry turn out just fine or even really great. Um,

A lot of adult actors were child actors and are really thriving in their careers. And a lot of people who were child actors go on to do completely different things. They end their careers and they go on to be lawyers and teachers and parents and normal people. And they're totally fine. But that's not who we hear about. We want to hear about the ones who are trouble. Old walk on the streets, right? Right. But...

But I think no matter, because honestly, like we know a ton of kids who are in this industry. We know a lot of people who are not. And I'd say more kids who are not in the industry are having troubles, you know, in their teens than the industry kids. It's just the fact that it's being like online. It's just the fact that it's on social media. This is just normal teenager stuff. And I feel like,

I feel like there was a whole thing online for a long time. During the quarantine era, kids were really popular online. Charlie D'Amelio, Harrison Ray, all them. They'd get in trouble for stuff all the time online. It's like, they vaped once. And it's like, yeah, because they're teenagers. And you have to see it. Yeah. I don't know. I think it just really...

Whether your kids are like soccer or mathletes or whatever they do, they're actors, whatever it is that they're into, dancers, like it really just comes down to relationship. Like, do you have a genuine relationship with your kid? And if you do, then, you know, you're going to be fine. But...

If the relationship is difficult and strained for it. Because there are a lot of like, look at those horrible sports parents. Look at those horrible dance parents. Like they're just as, it's the same stuff. It's just not on TV. We just don't care about it. Yeah. That's almost like worse because they say it's all like for fake, but those kids are like crying. And I'm like, but it's like, you're still inflicting some sort of pain on these kids. You know what I mean? At least. Yeah. That is, that's a whole different world that reality TV for children is like.

really really scary but I know and like I've watched a lot of dance moms and stuff too me too that's actually that is abusive like you said like they say it's fake but it feels so bad and I don't know how those people feel about that experience I don't know anybody personally from that show but it just seems so wild and so dramatic and like of course nobulous Jojo Siwa wait did you call to play Jojo Siwa one

I feel like you did. Yes, yes. Stop it. I'm kind of low-key a JoJo Siwa supporter. I like her. Oh my God. You know what? I will say we've met her a couple times at events. She's always been really nice. Super nice. I went to her 16th birthday party. Yeah. And was nice to her little fans. Yes. She took time with them. She was never rude. She was always such a nice person. I will say that. Yeah, and we haven't always seen that with other people. Like she's...

genuinely seems to care about people who support her. I've always said that too. I feel like I met her a few times when she was also young, like 15 and stuff. And she was like really, really nice and really like professional and really like, you know, genuine. So I think she does get like a little bit of a bad rap now, but I think it's maybe, she's also maybe trolling a little bit. You know what I mean? I think now she's kind of. She's just spicing up her life right now. She's making some fun music and she's humping on the stage and she can do that too.

and drinking Cheetos on stage. She's living her best life. She's getting drunk at Disneyland. I'm here for it. She got drunk at Disneyland? Yes. It was like a whole thing. It was like for her 20th birthday or something. It was controversial too. People were like mad about it because she was like drunk at Disneyland in front of kids. I know. I like on it. Yeah, because a lot of people were like let her live her life. It's Epcot because like you can drink around the world in Epcot. A lot of people are drunk at Epcot. Yeah.

tea right there. Yeah, it is interesting to see that child star kind of become an adult and then rebranding in a way, which is really interesting. Do you think you'll have a rebrand at like

extreme like that I don't know I mean because the thing is I'm a musician so I'm working on releasing my solo music currently and I mean it's obvious like I don't have anything out on Spotify or anything yet but I've got stuff recorded and I'm waiting to take pictures for all of it so I think when the time comes to release that stuff then I kind of want to rebrand a bit

Wait, is it like pop or is it the stuff you're doing with October, the band? No, my own stuff. So is it more poppy? Is it like what genre? You can listen to it after we finish the episode if you want. Please, yeah. But I would say it's like indie pop folk. It's giving that vibe. But yeah. Do you know the song by MAPS, the one that's popular online? It's like, wait, they don't love you, that guy loves you. You know that song? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The one that's really popular online right now. Yes, yes, yes. It's an important song.

They don't love you like I love you. You know the dance that I'm talking about. No, I did a cover of that song, so I'm going to release that soon. And that's going to be the first thing that I release. I might even change my name. Like, I might change my stage name. Wait, really? Do you have any ideas? I might change it to Frances Anderson. Wait, that's cool. Y'all look back on this podcast when I'm, like, on tour. Yeah. Like, in a few years. Just kidding. Where's Frances? You don't like the Frances? No, I do. That's her middle name, Frances. Oh.

Oh. Frances Anderson. She hated it when she was young. She was like, oh, my middle name's so stupid. Is it named after someone in the family? It's a family friend, right? A couple, right? No, it's really kind of nothing. It's just a name that I... Not nothing, but you know Bud Friedman, he founded the ImprovCom. Yes, yes. So now I'm a comedian, so I knew Bud. And his...

I can't remember if it was his cousin or his aunt. Anyway, but she was his secretary for years and years and years. She passed away quite a while ago. But when she came to Aubrey's baby shower and I knew her. And when you would perform at the different clubs, you would go up to her office to get your check. This is back when you still had to get a check. And her name was Fran. Fran.

And so I just always loved Fran and Fran loved you. I have a picture of her holding you when you were a baby. That's so sweet. I just always liked the name Frances and remember like the Frances, the little kids books? Yes. I loved that. Anyway, I always liked the name and then she hated it when she was little. No, because people were just like, that's like a middle-aged, like that's just like a man name. It is my dad's name. Frances.

I love that. I love that. I love that. I love it. I like consider naming my daughter Frances because of my dad. I thought it was such a cool name. It's a beautiful name, yeah. It is really pretty and that's going to be a great stage name because like you said, no one's really named that anymore so I think, and it is your name. It really flows well too. It fits you for sure. So we'll see what happens once I release music but that's what I'm currently working on. Oh my gosh, how?

fun and so are you working with like other producers or are you doing it all yourself I have a producer that I really like currently his name is Elliot he's really really nice but I don't have a music manager or anything so I'm figuring it all out right now we don't know anything about the music world nothing I know you have music released online yeah

I'm surprised you guys are so connected in the world of like entertainment. Actor wise, we are like, yeah, maybe a comedian or something I can help you, but music wise, we know nothing. It's a difficult. I think it's so, like a lot of people are doing independent now because the one where I've heard about recording contracts is they like kind of like,

are a little bit of a scam you know what I mean like as far as like you know you have to like they give you up front but then like recouping it takes forever so I think a lot of people put out music independently just to like have control of it I don't know and I'm like looking at young people who are like releasing music and really popular right now it seems like they really have like a

big persona and like aesthetic and like they really know what they want and I know I feel like it's just like so obvious that it's being pushed by their label yeah so hard and I love all of them so much and they're so iconic but I'm like how real and authentic is this because I want to be authentic throughout what I do that's what yours comes across on on Instagram and TikTok and all the stuff like that like it's very it's very authentic you're like in your room you know you're just like this young girl I know I'm like on the floor like but it's so real

relatable i think so many people do put money into like production and stuff and i think that is something that's like missing because i love all those girlies too i love pop girlies but like i think that is definitely missing and i feel like there's no one young doing that kind of music and i think it'd be really really cool to hear you sing and do that thank you also speaking of pop girlies you went to go see the wicked premiere ariana grande we were trying to go and get my publicist wait how did you not publish her public they said get her in wait what i

I feel like every single person was there. No, I know. Everybody was there, I swear. Oh, my God. That's wild, actually. That's so crazy. It was amazing. The dress was beautiful. Thank you. Wicked is – this was our second time seeing it. I got to see an early screening and then this. I don't know why. I never get invited to anything. It's my first time I've ever been invited, so I don't know how you didn't because – but I did. I was trying to, like, ask every single person I know. I was like, is there a way to get it? And they just, like, randomly emailed me one day. But it's so good. I love musical theater more than anything. It's, like –

Broadway you think you'll do? I would love to do Broadway at some point in my life. Am I ready for that right now? Absolutely not. But I'm training and I'm getting there. I do tap once a week, jazz once a week. I try to do two vocal lessons a week. So I'm training, you know, cooking in the process. That would be, did you see Sarah Hyland in Little Shop? We did. Yes.

It was amazing. Did you see it? I didn't get to see her in it. I saw it years ago when it opened with Christian Borle and I like loved it, but I haven't seen and I saw that she was in it and I was like, oh, did you guys make a special trip for that? Well, I was already there for like, I was there for summer camp for musical theater camp. So then right afterwards, we're like, we'll go see some shows and stuff. And we were like, we have to see it while we're there. I didn't know she sang. No,

No, yeah, she's been performing. Her dad is a Broadway star. Her dad is John Hyland. Oh my gosh, I didn't know. I had no idea. But yeah, she started out, and she was in the Annie movie as, what's the little Molly? Molly. Like back in the day, and the one that was in the 90s or whatever. Oh, okay, so not the one that just came out. I know, there's been like 50 versions. Yeah, I'm like trying to think of that one. Okay. Not the one with Covington before that.

Oh, yeah, the Jamie Foxx one. Yeah, not the Jamie Foxx one. Not the Jamie Foxx one. Was it the one with Christian Chenoweth and Alan Cummings? Were they in it? Kathy Bates, maybe? Were they in it? Oh, God, I'm so confused which is which. There's probably like a million Annie movies. I know. Yeah, like Carol Burnett was in one. That was like the original. That was way back. Yeah, yeah.

I don't even know. Okay, I know. They're all confusing to me because I'm like, okay. She was in one of those. But yeah, she was phenomenal in Little Shop. And Andrew Barth Feldman was the same. Oh my God. I would have loved that. He's so amazing. Oh my God. They were like the best. Because we've seen that show many times in different places. That was for sure the best time that we've seen it. Oh, I can't imagine. I saw him in Dear Evan Hansen and he was like so good. Didn't you do a cover of Waving Through a Window once online? I've done the cover of that. Yes, you have, girl. Uh-huh.

I've been watching those and then they should do a song together I think I'd be intimidated I really am intimidated even like sitting here with you because I really like all the stuff you've accomplished is like actually amazing and it's something to be like really proud of even if you didn't choose it like it's a really cool life she's like it's

just happening to me I don't know I know but it really kind of did which is like so cool in a way no it feels like the modern family thing I feel like it did just kind of like happen to me but I feel like now I'm making my own decisions now that I'm starting to become it's weird I'm like wait am I a young adult now like it's starting to feel like you're becoming a woman yeah you're getting there are

Yeah. Yeah. So just navigating that has been an interesting thing. But yeah, I'm trying my best to make it in the industry and to stay strong. I mean, you've already definitely made it, but continuing to make it, I think Broadway will be such a cool. What would be your dream role? Oh, Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Oh, that would be so good. Well, they're doing Cabaret right now. You'd be good.

That'd be like a dream role for me. And like, I haven't seen the new one. I kind of wanted to see it when I was there, but we saw it on Broadway with Alan Cumming. Like when, how old was I when I was seven? At seven? Yes. I saw it on Broadway when I was seven. Oh, and she goes, is this the youngest person you've had? She's like, I think so. I mean, that is a wild one to see at seven years old. Yeah. But she already knew the music and she saw they performed on the Tonys that you're on TV. Oh, I see. And she saw it and she was like, oh.

what is this? I want to say, oh, I surprised her with tickets. And I met Alan Cumming afterwards. Yeah, she did a job in Toronto. So I'm like, let's just go down and see a show. So I surprised her. She freaked out. Yeah, we met Alan.

He's my favorite person. I love Traitors. I'm obsessed with that show because of him. Have you watched it? I know it's really good. So good. It's like a reality show. I've heard about that. He's so theatrical. They have a lot of reality stars competing. He's so theatrical. Alan Cumming is my favorite human in the whole world too. I've never met him. He's so sweet. At the time we met him, she used to have a... Can I tell the video?

Tell me yes. We had a little fish tank and we had two matching fish. They're called hatchet fish and they were two. They look like exactly the same and she was so obsessed. She was obsessed with Alan Cumming when she was seven. I had like a crush on Alan Cumming. What? From what? Tell me from what? I think she cried a little bit when she found out he was married to a man. Oh, same, same. Stop. We were flipping through his Instagram and I said, oh, that's his husband and she went, Alan's gay? Well,

I think he's bi, so there's always a chance. I think he's bi too. He's married to a man. He is married, yes. But anyway, so when we met him, Aubrey, so the one of the, she was so obsessed with him, she named these two matching fish. She named them Alan and Cumming. Oh my gosh, that's so cute. But then Alan died. So then there was just Cumming. Just Cumming. Poor Alan.

In his green room, you know what she calls club coming? Yeah, yes. Saturday night. So I was telling him the story and I'm like, so I was telling him about the fish. He was like, oh my God. And then, and I showed him a picture. So we had a little burial for Alan in the backyard. We buried him. Just had a picture of him laying in the dirt before we covered him. I said, this was Alan. He's like, oh my God, can you send me that picture? I'm obsessed with it. That's good. I sent him that picture. Her impressions are so good of people. So good. I said, but now we just have, come on.

It's like, we just have Cummings. It's amazing. Well, you know, Club Cummings is fitting. I love that he loved the story. I love that you guys got to go in the green room and hang out with him. Like, that's so... There's a video of her on YouTube of them wrestling in the green room. We at seven? It's really adorable, yes. What did you know of him that you had a crush on? Just Cabaret. Just Cabaret. Yeah. Because I was... I saw, like, Romy and Michelle, and I had such a crush on him in that movie. I've never seen that, have you? No, I haven't. It's so funny. Well, I mean, you know, she's 17. It's so funny.

Yeah, it's so funny and he's so handsome and he plays like one of the romantic leads. No, he's so handsome. He is. And everything. Have you watched that Chimp Crazy documentary? Have you heard of the Chimp Crazy documentary? No, I've heard of it but I haven't seen it. Girl, I feel like you really like this. What? He's an advocate for animal rights. I didn't know. And he's with like PETA kind of I think or whatever but he worked with one of these chimpanzees and like he was like connected to the whole story about like this lady who owned all these chimps and stuff. It was a whole thing. And how he was like hidden away and stuff. But yeah, so he's interviewed throughout the

four episodes and they were showing several clips from the movie which he did back in the 90s or whatever he was so sorry I'm not trying to be creepy so if you ever watch this I'm sorry I'm always creepy with him I think he's so cute

I'm always creepy with him. He's my crush. He knows. He's my number one. I've never heard of anyone else obsessed with Alan Cumming the way we are. That's crazy. Josie and the Pussycats is another one where he's really cute. We did watch it in the middle. Remember we watched it? Obviously, When You're Older, Eyes Wide Shut is a good one that he's in. He's in so many. Yeah, his...

oh his everything is amazing I love him in so many ways but I love that you know him cabaret yes he is a king yeah the new cabaret is so different than his cabaret which I haven't seen either but it looks good I think the girl who played uh who's singing voice in Moana is in as Sally Bowles right now oh yeah I think she is yeah yeah she's with Adam Lambert right now as the two leads I just saw a clip of Adam Lambert doing I Don't Care very much and it was like really good oh yeah I think

Yeah, I've heard. Oh, yeah. Alan Cummings version I heard, too. I think it's on iTunes. He does, like, a really, really good. Or Mine Hair, he does really well, too. Oh, yeah. That whole album. Yeah, where he does all the covers. At seven, do you understand, like, the concept of it? No. Of Cabaret? Yeah. No. I mean, obviously, looking back, I understand now. But I think I understood to some degree when I was younger. But, like, I don't know. Also that year, she really wanted to be a... Oh, stop. I love these stories. I love Alan Cummings. She wanted to be a Kit Kat.

Oh my God, at seven. You said no? It's not appropriate. I mean, yeah, they're like hookers. Like what? I'm like, you know, no. When you're like over 18, you can maybe, but like, no, it's not appropriate for a kid. And she was so upset. So she was dressed as Wonder Woman that year. Oh yeah. You were a Wonder Woman zombie. You did a little zombie. Okay, love that. But then she kept doing the cabaret dance. Love that.

It's giving cabaret today. You have the haircut. This is very Sally Bowles. It's giving very much Broadway. That's a cliff. Oh my gosh. This was literally the only, the three pink things that I had in my closet was this robe and then this is kind of pink because of this and then this rose quartz necklace. You made the shirt? I did. Yeah. She crochets. She has a little crocheting business. Wait, really? That's so cute. Crochet and do jigsaw puzzles. That's my life. This is so funny to see you guys in person. I mean,

You're like, I just crochet. I wish that was my whole life. I'm just sitting like, scarves. Just, yeah, that's kind of fun. I mean, that's really cute. I love the whole, that's like a really cute vibe. It's cute on you. Thank you. It would look cute on you too. No way. Have you ever worn your own crochet? A lot.

Oh, and they have hats and scarves. The bees and, you know. Oh, my gosh. Wait, this is so cool. So what is this, like, dynamic? Like, how did you guys become, like, best friends or have you always been? Like, you're so close. I don't really know. I mean, it's just like, you know, she's a single mom and I mostly grew up in her house. And I don't, like, on her side, I don't have any other siblings. So it's just kind of like us and the dogs. Oh, okay. So you had that bond. But honestly, I feel like...

I feel like since we were together all the time because of Modern, like, not that we wouldn't have been close without it, but it certainly, I think, played a role in...

in our dynamic of being kind of like a team. Like we're almost like a work team, but then also like a family team as well. But, and because it's just the two of us, because I know there are a lot of people who have kids in the business and they've got another kid who does the, you know, who does basketball and blah, blah, blah. So they're spread a little more thin and I've tried to find a balance of not being a helicopter mom, but, but that, but that I have to be there all the time because literally like by law, she has to have an adult with her on set. Right. So I don't know. I think we were kind of like forced to have a decent relationship.

Oh, for sure. We did it together all the time. Yeah, and there are definitely people in the business who don't have good parent-kid relationships. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You guys stayed so close with it all. Yeah. But we also, we kind of joke, we always go, we're the same person because we have the same sense of humor. We laugh, we have a lot of the same interests. We have the, like, we laugh at the same stuff all the time. We'll make the same jokes like simultaneously. I know. We're both like in our bedrooms in the middle of the night like sending each other Instagram reels. Across the house like, ugh. No, literally it's like,

It's so fun. I love that so much. I'm still – our daughter is still sleeping with us. She's two and I'm like, I want her to sleep with us forever. You know what I mean? Because I can't imagine having like a separate room than my daughter, you know? Because you just want to like be so close with them and it's like so cool. Today we had a photo shoot when she was like living for it. You know, just like a Christmas card thing and she was like living her best life. I'm like, she could be a star. But then I'm like, let me not be that parent. You know what I mean? Because you just – you know, you think that's what like, you know, she might want but –

What are your guys' hobbies together? Together? Well, obviously we have our food channel, Food Mania Review. We love trying. But she's actually on a diet right now. Oh, no. It's called Whole30. What? No. Why? It's 30 days of... Because it's mostly an anti-inflammatory diet and we both deal with really bad eczema. She has extreme eczema. Yeah, all over my...

I have it too. Look, I have it on my elbow right now. I have that too. Yeah, so just trying to get like control of inflammation. But it's just like a gut health reset. And I'm just... You can eat nothing, I swear to God. No, that's not true. What do you eat on it? Yeah, I want to know. No, here's what you can't eat and then everything else you can't. But it's basically no grains. So no rice, no wheat, no corn. Oh, God. Yeah, that's like everything I eat. I love all of that. No, I know. I feel like Thanksgiving month.

But that's what potatoes, but that's, no, potatoes you can eat because it's not a grain. You can have any vegetables, any fruit, any meat, a product, you can't have any legumes, so no peanuts, soybeans, that kind of stuff. But that's what makes it hard because it's like no soy sauce or rice. There's barely any sauces you can have.

sauces are because they're full of sugar and no oils except for avocado and olive oil olive oil and avocado oil are okay but you can't have like canola oil and vegetable oil and so like those oils are in everything corn is in everything rice is in everything it's amazing and sugar and no refined sugar you can have fruit sugars oh

So you can't eat a lot. You just have to have the right things in your house. But the first day, we didn't have time to shop before. And I was like, oh, she was dying. And she was so tired yesterday. Oh, no. I just had like four carrots.

We both worked out a lot during quarantine. Oh, yeah. We both got pretty ripped. You got in your fitness? Really? We did. Doing what? I was going to just. It was my freshman year in the quarantine. Yeah, she was muscular, like strong. Really? What are you guys doing? Like working out in the garage or? Yeah, we have a little workout area in our house. Okay. Wow. So like quarantine starts, Modern Family is over. And was it always going to be over when it started or was there like a chance it could come back?

I think they wanted it to end on that season, right? Yeah. I would say, like, because it went for 11 seasons, and I would say from season 9 on, every year kind of toward the end it was kind of like...

well maybe we'll see like it was always a little bit up in the air and the final season 11th wasn't a full season because they usually did a full like 22 or 24 episodes they didn't I don't remember but it's a short if you look on like on TV like it's a shorter season but yeah they kind of knew in advance like this going into that season they knew this is the

the last one and there's no chance of renewing so because the creators want it to be done you know you always want to leave them wanting more you don't want to jump the shark and then

Right. To the finish line. Like, oh, God. Nobody's watching anymore. Is that the longest running TV show? It must be, huh? No. But they did. They are tied with Frasier for the most consecutive Emmy wins. How many does Frasier have? Five. They both have five. Oh, wow. So they both are like the most winning like comedy series. I wonder what the longest running TV show is then. Yeah, that's what I wonder. Oh, TV or comedy? I mean, TV would be like a soap opera. Right. Aside from soap operas. It's like prehistoric. Yeah. Right. No comedy, I wonder. Yeah. Comedy?

I feel like it has to be scripted comedy. Modern family. I don't know how long Frasier went for. I don't know either. Or like Cheers. Oh, that went on. Happy Days. Like, who knows? Laverne and Shirley, those shows. 11 years seems like none of them would seem to go that long. I don't know. How long was Seinfeld on for? Oh, yeah. Seinfeld, I feel like, was on forever. Do you know Seinfeld, Moses? Or... Oh, yeah. He's looking up to see what it is. Yeah, because Friends was 10 years, right? I think that was like 10 years. Was it? Okay. And what about like Big Bang Theory? How many years is that? Oh, that did go on a long time. Yeah. I don't know.

Last of the Summer Wine? A comedy that spent the 31st season. Last of the Summer Wine. So was that on in like 1930s? Yeah, that is. But okay. 31 seasons? Last of the Summer Wine? Spent half of your life on a show? Like 30 seasons? Yeah, that might be the same. I feel so young right now. What's that movie? I know. Simpsons. Oh, it's cartoon. You should have like American comedy. Yeah, Simpsons is still going, right? They're still on it. What a gig, man.

Yeah. I'd love to be a Simpsons voice. I think that would be the best. You don't even have to look good. You don't have to memorize. You don't have to dress up. It doesn't matter when you age. Yes. You can play a child your whole life. Okay, so you're still actively auditioning for TV and stuff. Oh, yeah, for sure. Full reps and everything.

Oh, okay. So you're like still wanting to full on do this. Yeah, I'm at it. I'm trying, yeah. Wow. She auditioned for a show that she really, really wanted. She didn't get. Wait, which one? The Bojack Horseman creators. They have a new...

A new one coming out. I feel like I'm being secretive about it right now. But I love Bojack Horseman. I wanted to cosplay as Sarah Lynn for Halloween at some point, but I didn't. I didn't do it this year. She would still die. You could still cosplay even after Halloween. I love a good cosplay. You're the queen of that. Weren't you guys Fiyero and... Galinda. We did it multiple times. I love cosplaying. I love dressing up. All of that is so fun. Even if it's not Halloween, I like to do it. I know. I saw the Egyptian outfit out in the living room. The little king tablet. Yes, the king tablet.

I was like, this is like history. Like this is an iconic piece. Like I can't believe I'm looking at it right now. It's very like, you're Gen Z, right? It's very Gen Z of you to like that. Oh, for sure. Are you Gen Z or are you Gen Alpha? Is it the next Gen? No, I'm Gen Z. Okay. And like my mom, like she was like, my mom was like, who's Trisha Paytas? And I was like, you don't know.

Gen X. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally. You don't know. Dude, like all my friends and it was like really funny. Like we started kind of getting in contact because I had followed you for a long time. And but my friend, she was like, she DM me. She was like, Trisha Paytas just talked about you on her podcast. And I was like, what? And she showed me the video and I was like,

ain't no way I have to DM her like I have to DM her I was so shook I was so shook I like double checked I was like because we're so in it right now Modern Family like we're just like obsessed with it and I'm like wait this and we go through obsessions like Lost Desperate Housewives so and I get really obsessed with like the characters the people on the show and so I've never met someone that I was like currently obsessed with so I was like this is so crazy I can't believe this is happening and everyone glammed this morning like who do you have on today when I said you they were like no way because it is so iconic and specifically

specifically Lily on Modern Family everyone's really great but because you were this like child that was so funny and so like amazing on the show I think people because again you're just really smart on the show I love it I'm obsessed with it but that's really cool so speaking of spinoffs was there supposed to be a spinoff of the Cam and Mitch and yeah it was definitely pitched and then I think was it the network that said no or who

Yeah, a couple of the writers actually did write probably a pilot or something and they pitched it and what I think is accurate, don't totally hold me to it, but I think the network didn't want to do it.

I don't know why. And I think it was kind of like wah, wah, because everybody who was involved. So the original show creators, you know, Levitan, Lloyd, they were not involved, but they gave their blessing to some of the writers who were longtime writers in the show. And so they were the ones who were developing it, and it just didn't get, they didn't have the interest for it. I don't know why. And everybody asks for one now, so I'm like, why wouldn't they want that? And honestly, I think they should pitch it again. But the thing is, I don't know if Jesse would want to do that. He said he didn't when you did the podcast.

podcast yeah he's like i don't know i mean i would do it time has passed now it's like yeah that i feel like people ask more now than they did after it first ended yeah it's having a resurgence for some reason i don't know if it just went to hulu or what like something about it is like coming everyone's talking about it it's all over tiktok all the edits like you were mentioning like it's it's really interesting how it's having this like second life no for sure and like i think i

like there's been like a couple times like during high school where it's like really like peaked and it's been like oh my god like yeah and it was really funny because i had tiktok for like since i like since i was a modern family i've had tiktok like at the age of 12 so i started doing tiktoks then but nobody really followed me at all and then once the show was over and i turned 13 people found me online and i woke up one morning and i had a million likes on a video and i was like whoa oh

because it was like I had like maybe 10,000 followers before so I was like what the heck is going on that's interesting I wonder why when it started I don't know I think people were shocked to see that like I looked kind of more like you know like a young woman more than like I think people are really shocked about that and that's kind of how I like gained my following like from there is just like posting random little vids online and wow because you did grow up so fast I saw like some edits of it's like

older Lily and I was just like oh my gosh you look like you're like 17 then that's why you said you're 17 now I was like wait you look so much more grown when the show ended you sounded more mature all of that yeah exactly I've kind of had this voice for like a little while now but yeah people like I used to be like taller than all my friends I like kind of had a growth spurt at a very young age so that's been interesting also being in the public eye it's so surreal to watch I you know I used to do like background work and I did one episode of Modern Family and people still tell me to this day it's called Go Boys

Go Bullfrog season three, like episode three. I must keep that in mind. Yes. I've been looking for it because you said I saw like you were I was like scrolling on my For You page and then you made that video about like, you know, how you kind of had your career started. You're like, I went on America's Got Talent and I went on blah, blah, blah. And then you were like, I went on Modern Family and I like paused for a second. I was like, what? What?

She was on Modern Family. No, so it's a scene where Claire goes out with Cam and Mitch and they have – it's a guest star, Gil? Jill? He plays a gay guy, but he's not gay. And they talk about all the people who have plastic surgery in the room. And then Claire asks, oh, what do they do with all the extra fat they take out? And then they show my cleavage walk past. And then they're like, there it is. So –

to have a line but people recognize me so much you know like Twitter everything TikTok everyone's like Trisha Payne is a modern family I'm like I didn't even have one line in people that's iconic that is so funny

I walked right past the actor who plays Cam. And he looks over there. And that was my big debut. And I was like, people love the show so much. That one little spot is what people know me from 15 years later. So I can't even imagine your fame from that. Because you mentioned all the stuff in the video. And me and my friend last night, we had a sleepover. And we were like, we have to watch some of the podcast. And we have to watch Trisha Paytas moments so I can prepare myself for this podcast. Aww.

I want you to tell me the story about how you got on America's Got Talent and how all of that was. Oh, well. Because I watched that last night. Okay. Well, I never even watched it because everything I've done has been quite embarrassing. I've always wanted to be like famous, but I was never really talented at like acting. Thank God for social media because that helped me, but I was never talented at like acting or singing. So I just took every single thing. So whether it was like

Ellen, Jaylen, any show that wanted me, I just said yes to. And so they found me on YouTube. I was just fast talking and one of the producers was like, do you want to come on America's Got Talent audition? I'm like, for what? And I just talk fast. I was like, okay. So I haven't watched it, but I know I got all the X's right away and it was the most embarrassing thing. I like blocked it out of my life. I've like disassociated. I remember though, you, I remember like you're, I was watching it. You're like, I want to meet Howard

Stern. I know. Even though you got all the exes, he went up on stage and he gave you a hug. Yeah, he was very sweet. I mean, now it's cringy that I wanted to meet Howard Stern. When I look back at all this stuff, I was like, ugh. When I was a kid, I idolized him. He gives me the creeps, literally. He is. Side eye. No. I'm sorry. No, he definitely does. And when you look back at all the awful things he's done in his career, I was like, why did I obsess over him so much? Like, it is kind of embarrassing now. But at the time, I really did love him. But-

Back to the spinoff. So you guys did film something together recently. You were like inside the house. I was not there. It was for a WhatsApp commercial. Yeah. What was the one where you're everyone's there, but you're holding a picture of Phil, like everyone's holding a picture of Phil, but you're in that photo. Is that not it? Yes. Okay. So basically that was a modern family reunion. The only time that's ever happened since the show has ended. Just like a personal, just casual get together. Oh yeah. And I remember Justin, Jesse's husband texted me and was like, Hey,

hey, we're going to have a reunion thingy at Sophia's house. No parents allowed those, so just have your mom drop you off or whatever. Yeah, just have your mom drive you like a... Really? I was 16 at the time. This happened like last year. Oh. Yeah, last year in September this happened. That's so odd though. Like,

Like, no parents. So I was like, hmm, interesting. But you're the only child, so. Yeah, but I was like, I must go. I can't not go to this. Really? I love that. Because, like, I never go to any of their houses. And it was Sofia Vergara's house. And I was like, OK, I can't.

I gotta go. It was the first time she got included with like the adults. The big kids and the adults. Oh, that's cool. That is cool. Yeah. Yeah. So it was pretty cool. The only person that was my age there was Ed O'Neill's daughter, Claire. I don't know if you guys have seen her online. She's like

stunning, like curly hair, blue eyes. And like, she's really good friends with, I don't know if you know who this is, but Ariana Greenblatt. I love her. Yes. I love her. I know they're really tight, but yeah, Clara's cool. So she was there. I mean, her hung out.

But yeah, I got to see all around the house. Like the closet and all the heels. Oh my gosh. I was like, I was shook. She has this closet that's like the size of your bedroom. And then like she has this other room that's just all more dresses. Oh, I can't even imagine. What a dream. I watch her. We watch America's Got Talent and we watch her on there. And I'm like, God, she's just like so amazing. I love the whole cast. I really do. Who was...

I guess do you kind of bias as to who's like your favorite but probably your dad's on the show? Jesse. Like it's hands down Jesse. Wow. I mean like I love Eric too but like I'm not as close with him and I don't keep in contact with him. Yeah. He's a really funny guy though. Like oh my god. And he has so many like funny talents. Like he's a drummer and he actually went to clown school in real life. Oh. They wrote that into the show for him? Yes they did. Yeah a lot of his little things are based off like the pig farm. Was he a pig farmer? He lives in Missouri now. Yes.

We grew up there. I don't remember, but he grew up in that area. Right. Yeah. Oh, that's cool. So they wrote that and did clowning as a kid. Wow. He played football. He would make balloon animals on set every now and then. I remember. Do you remember that? Yeah. That's cute. Oh, my God. But you and Jesse, you guys just hung out more, talked more.

Well, you guys are both like – he's musical theater too. He's Broadway. That most definitely helped. And, you know, he has little kids now too. That's what I was so surprised. I was hearing your podcast with him and he said that his oldest son was the age you were when Modern Family started, which I'm like, that's so crazy. I can't even imagine my kid acting and doing everything that –

Yeah. But she did at that age. Because at three, I mean, it's just like three and a half. It's like so, yeah, I can't imagine either. That's just like amazing. You must have been like a genius. Well, you probably are a genius. I don't know about that one. So you did the reunion at the house, but it wasn't filmed or anything like that. No, it felt like more of a private thing for sure. But yeah, of course, we posted all those pictures online and people went nuts. Yeah, so they were holding Ty's picture because he's the only one who could do it. They thought he was dead. It does.

they were having a memorial get together like he was not dead no I saw that too I saw that too and I was like oh my god like oh my god what happened to Todd Morrell it was a crazy choice whoever decided to do that that was kind of wild he either just didn't want I'm like I don't really know he mostly lives in Utah yeah he lived far away yeah and I know Ariel she lives in like somewhere in Tennessee currently wow

with her boyfriend and her dogs. No one lives in the world. Yeah. No one's lived in his best life. It was his birthday recently. He was living in a van for a while. Oh, I love that. Yeah, he's exploring. Rico lives in Texas. They still have a house here, though. Really? Yeah, yeah. But you are both Valley girls. Were you born in the Valley as well? No, I'm from Minnesota, but I came out here from California. Pretty young. I was in one, but she was... Save me, sweetie.

Born here. So you're a valley girl. Yeah, valley girl. That's pretty fun though to be like, grow up out here in California. No, I honestly like love it. And I know people who are born here and have lived like here their whole lives. And they're just like, I hate it so much. But I don't, in all honesty, like we have everything here. Like we have a million Trader Joe's and Targets. And we also have like,

you know, live entertainment is great. Like we have the Amundsen, we have the Pantages. Yes. You know what I mean? And if you want to audition, yeah, if you want auditions, it's a great place to be unless you want to live in New York and audition for Broadway. Right, right. I grew up in Illinois. Oh, wow. My grandparents live in Illinois. That's where my dad's from. What area? Mount Carmel. Southern on the- Oh, southern. I'm northern, so I'm Rockford, Illinois by Chicago. Oh, I see. Yeah, so we would go up to like Minnesota, Mall of America, all those. I love the Midwest. Oh, yeah.

Yeah. Did you go to Mall America? Oh, yeah, we've been. My brother met his wife working there. Oh, my gosh.

Oh my gosh. Where? At the store? At the Camp Snoopy amusement park. Is it still there? It's Nickelodeon universe now, but it used to be, originally it was Camp Snoopy and that's where Uncle Matt and Lisa met. Oh, that's so funny. They used to have auditions at that mall for like all that. Do you remember that show on Nickelodeon? Yeah, I do remember that. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Yeah, but I didn't get anywhere. But I did audition and they used to have a ton of auditions up that way and so we'd always drive up to Minnesota. Who knows if they were legit or not? Maybe they weren't, but...

It was fun. I agree with you though. LA, I just like, I love it so much, but I also get why people move out. But you would relocate if you did like Broadway, like for a little bit. A little bit, yeah. I would love living in New York for a bit. Oh my gosh. Yeah. I love like walking everywhere and like using the subway. It's so fun.

That's so cool. How was Lin-Manuel Miranda when he was on? Did you get to meet him? Oh my gosh, no, because I think I didn't know who he was at the time. Oh, right. And then like, I met him though once at the Moana premiere. Really? And dude, I had the biggest Hamilton phase. Like anybody who knew me when I was like eight years old. Oh my gosh.

Would tell you. Please. I'm obsessed with Hamilton too. So me and then I don't know if you know like Reagan Reward who was on Young Sheldon. But me and her were best friends at the time. And we decided we're like we're going to do Hamilton in our backyard. I need to see it. They had it planned out. They were going to cast their friends. I was Hamilton and she was Lynn. She was I mean she was. Yeah she was Burr. Wow. But then my mom was like you know since we're going to the Moana premiere you should bring your Hamilton music book and see if he's there and we'll sign it for you. Oh my gosh.

So I saw him and I tapped him on the back and he turned around and I immediately just freaked out and started sobbing. Oh my gosh. He knew who she was. He turned around and he went, I know you. I know you. And she lost it. You guys don't understand. I had the biggest crush on this man. Like, I don't know why. I love your crushes. Him and that ponytail when I was like eight. It's a thing about

Theater boys. I'm like, I was like that with Ethan Slater. Like everyone, I'm always like, they don't understand. Like you don't get it unless you're like a theater girly. I barely like, I've never fangirled like that in my life and it hasn't happened since. It's happened since, yeah. I don't know who it would happen for. Do you have anyone now, like a hyper fixation right now? Hyper fixation? Oh, I know. Who? Jeremy Allen White. Oh, okay.

I hate to say stuff like this because what if I end up working with people? You never know what's going to happen. You're like, no. No. I think he's really, really talented though and I love the bear and yeah. He's great. Oh, Timothy Chalamet. You saw the lookalike contest. Yes. You should have gone there. You could have met somebody. I could have

I could have rizzed, you know, at the Timothee Chalamet. I do love, wait, you met him? No. Did you watch Bones and All? No. Okay. So he was, yeah, he was in this movie called Bones and All. And my mom was like, I woke up this one morning and my hair was really messy. And she goes, wait, you look like Timothee Chalamet. Freeze. You could have entered the contest. It was like, boy, what the hell? Like,

Like, her arm was all smashed. Like, she had a bullet. I'm like, what the hell? Wait, this is you? I did it side by side. Oh my god, wait, that's crazy. Okay, you gotta do it. I was like, wait, I thought I was looking at a movie poster or something. They look like brother and sister. Like, brother and brother. That's my twin. Like, twin, where have you been? I kind of love that. That's crazy, because you actually do look like him. Oh my god. Like, in that photo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, not like in general. But it's crazy. She was laying on her bed, and I'm like, she looked up, and I'm like, wait, freeze. Freeze.

Don't move. She's like, well, I need to take a picture right now. Oh my God, I love that. Oh my God, so he's another one. Jeremy Allen White, that's so interesting. Did you see, what was it, the Iron Claw?

Oh my god, I did watch that. Yeah, that was really, really good. And Zac Efron did a great job. I saw you cosplayed Zac Efron. I just watched High School Musical 2 for the first time. For the first time? Yes, it was wonderful. I fell asleep. But you know what part I did get to? It's like, what about us? What about everything? That's about how far I made it. I love that song. High School Musical is like my musical. But you're so like advanced, like all the musicals you like, like Alan Cumming, Hamilton, like that's like

So wild for someone so young, you know? Hamilton is not that advanced. I think everybody at my age has had a Hamilton phase at some point in their life. That one is pretty good. What year did it come out? It's a canon event. Yeah. 2014? 2014. Yeah, I feel like... Maybe seven-ish? Yeah. Wow. Maybe 14, 15? 14 or 15, yeah. Oh, man. That one is so good. And did you get to see it on Broadway? Yeah, I did. And not with the original cast, but...

But my agency is also the same as Jordan Fisher's. So Jordan Fisher gave me his house seats because he's so lovely. And so we got to see him in it and it was really great. He's so good. He's in Hadestown right now, I think. I know. And is Lola Tongue still in it too or no? Yes, I think so. Well, the last I saw on TikTok. Yeah. I love Hadestown. That's like one of my favorites too. I think I'm going to do it at a local theater near my house. I'm so excited. I know. I want to audition. Wait. So you do community theater? Yeah.

Do you do stuff with your... So you did high school, then you did conservatory. So you just find these auditions where? Well, for conservatory stuff, you just kind of audition for it, like a pre-screen or a self-tape, and then you just see if you get accepted. Pre-college programs. Yeah, exactly. But community theater... Well, I mean, with school it's easy, but the one now is just like, yeah, you just audition. Anyone can just go if you're in the area? Yeah, like for kids. Yeah, this one's for kids specifically.

but yeah so it's like hadestown junior yeah hadestown junior because it just came out this year like people are finally getting the rights to it oh that's cool so it's all kids in the production that's so like looking at you it's just so crazy i can't i like keep forgetting that you're like 17 like you are a kid like it's like so crazy to think that's gonna be fine oh my god so you like i'm excited and i love that you just go audition because you think like being on a show for so long you would just think like oh they should just like cast me because they know i can act look at my like record but you're like that would be wonderful if they would hey if any

I think a lot of people assume that. Like, oh yeah, she probably can just get a million offers. But it's not like that. It's not like that. That's wild. You do a show for so long. You got nominated for a SAG award at four? I wasn't nominated, like me specifically. Was I? The cast. SAG is different since it's peer nominated. It's other actors voting for other actors. And so instead of it...

like the Emmys and the Golden Globe, it's like the best comedy, like the show. I see. But for SAG Award, it's the best cast ensemble. So you were in that nomination. So I think I was the youngest person to win a SAG Award or like to have one. Oh, so you did, you guys won that year then? Yeah. Oh! They won it like four times in three of the years that you were there. And I think I have three. Yeah. What?

The year before you were there. I mean, that's what I'm saying. So you win a SAG award at four years old. That's like insane. She holds the record of being the youngest person ever to walk the Emmys carpet as a nominee. You were nominated for an Emmy? I didn't see this. The show won the Emmy five times. Not her, but the show won five times. Yeah, yeah. But you're in the ensemble. So do you get like an actual Emmy? No. They don't. Yeah, the actors, they don't give them Emmys, but the producers and the directors, they get them. But you won for best comedy ensemble, so you're in there. That is...

That is so crazy. Oh my God. Were you intimidated to go? I mean, the thing is I've always hated doing like interviews and stuff like that. It's always given me like a lot of anxiety growing up. Yeah. Cause people just ask you weird questions and they ask you like, what's, what are you excited? Like, I don't know when you just go to random events and people ask you what you're excited for and stuff like that. And you're young, you don't know what to say. And people start talking about

Oh, they don't know what to ask for. Like, it's the worst. So I remember once my mom got me, like, hypnotized by this lady so that I could, like, get over it. For anxiety, because she literally would start to cry and stuff. Did it work? Did the hypnotization work? I don't know. I think I'm definitely less fearful now, but that was when I was, like, 12 and, like, 12 years.

Does it stay with you when you get hypnotized? Like, I've never done that, but I do love the idea of it. Does it stay with you forever or is it just, like, temporary, like, for an hour you're, like, in this trance? I mean, I don't really know because the thing is some people do it for bigger things. Like, oh, they'll say, like, yeah, I did it for smoking and I never smoked again. And it's, like, I don't know how that works. It's successful for a lot of people. Well, you know, I did it, not the same person, but after she was born. I don't know about you after you had your kids, but, like, I had horrible anxiety. Mm-hmm.

And I had never had any issues like that before. And I remember there was, at the time when she was born, I remember sitting on the couch, breastfeeding or whatever. And there was some commercial, I don't even remember what the commercial was for, but it was like an office setting and the work was piling up around them and it was really frantic. And I remember any time that commercial would come on, I would just be crawling out of my skin. I was having so much anxiety just watching that commercial. And I was just, I couldn't, you know, my brain was racing and I couldn't, you're just crazy after you have a baby. You don't have a baby. You don't have a baby.

So... Yet. Yeah. Yet. But, yeah, and so someone suggested that to me. They knew a person. And I actually did it over the phone. This guy was in North Carolina. Yeah.

But I just put the phone on speaker and I just laid it next to my head and I laid it on the bed and it definitely helped me. Really? It definitely helped me to feel calmer and more relaxed. Is he like telling you stuff? Like what is like affirmations in your head? You think like, because you know we always see stuff in movies like you were getting married. Yeah. It's not, you just go into a very deep relaxation and time passes so quickly when you're doing it you don't even realize oh it's been an hour or whatever. Wow. I've never done it. You don't feel it happening or working. You just feel better.

better after work. It just eases it. Have you had anxiety since? Not really unless somebody asked me something really stupid but I barely get interviewed anymore. Wow. But are you like because you did the Jessie one are you like open to doing like podcasts and stuff or you just don't like love talking about Modern Family and like so sick of it? No I mean I'm open to talking about it. I mean I think when it comes to like the lore of everything and how I got on the show it's like I've told people I feel like a lot now. I feel like there's nothing more to be said.

but yeah, I mean, I had to agree to like doing this podcast. Like I just, I wanted to do it so badly. And there was, I think another guy who also wanted to do a podcast with me, but that was before the Jesse thing. And I was like, I should hold out and do Jesse's. And I feel more comfortable like this. Cause it's like, it feels more like a conversation and whatnot, where it's like when you're on red carpets, like, I mean, when you went to the wicked premiere to people interview you, like, no, I was like, nobody. I just, I just took pictures and I was like, I mean, I thought that people would like interview. Cause no one,

Yeah, I mean, it can be stressful. Like, what is, like, that on the red carpets? Yeah. Because that's when they get, like, heated and they'll ask you things and you have to respond really quick. Like, as a child, what was, like, the craziest thing you remember for someone asking you? I remember this one time we were, like, at this charity event and they asked me about, like, kids with AIDS in, like... Oh, my gosh. Sorry. Sorry.

At what age? They're asking me about kids with AIDS in Africa, I'm pretty sure. Pediatric AIDS. Elizabeth Glazer's pediatric AIDS. And they're like, what do you have to say about it? And I'm like 10. And I'm like, yes. And I'm like, yeah. Girl.

such a little child about pediatric aging? It was like 9 or 10. Were you aware of what it was even? I don't even remember what I said and I was not aware of what that, yeah. Like that was a crazy one. Like she, I mean I would be off to the side and I'd just see like the panic set in her face like oh god.

And then what do you say to her in that moment? Are you like, it's fine. Everything's good. You did great. Like, what do you say? Or you're just like, we just, we went through like a long phase, like most of the years of like, after like a few things like that happened and it really tripped her out. Like we said, you know what? You don't have to do the interviews. Anytime we do carpets, it was photos. And then we just run past the interviews. Cause yeah, like I would literally run and like, I would see the people would start to look at me and I literally would just be like, and start running. Yeah. So that's good. Who cares?

worth it you had like an out that is were you ever contractually obligated to give interviews like did you ever have to go on like the talk shows like tonight show like any of those well i was on jimmy kimmel once but no i was never like obligated what happened why so they weren't interviewed they had the kids on to do a sketch i think it was leading up to the emmys or something like that so it's just promotional because it was the same network abc jimmy kimmel's on abc and so um

They had the kids on, you know how they'll do a sketch at the beginning? And they had him and Guillermo and they had the kids playing Family Feud, Boys Against Girls. Oh, yeah. And Guillermo was with the boys and it was you and Sarah and Ariel or something like that. It was like three and three. And they tried to make it really, I think you were, it was the year before Robin Williams died because you met Robin Williams at night. Right, Robin Williams was there. So you were probably like seven years old. She's little. Yeah.

I remember your, oh, it was so cute. Anyway, but, so they tried to make her question really easy, like age appropriate for her. And they said, name a cartoon dog. But, you know, she's never played a game show before. She's seven and she just froze. And I was, you didn't answer. You couldn't think of one. And you were like, I could tell you were like, and like, everybody like time stood still. And I'm like, man. People.

I just wanted to yell at all the dogs. But you couldn't come up with one. I've always just been so, I've been so anxious about that stuff ever since I was a kid. I mean, I think. Being put on the spot was not a good idea. Yeah, as a child on TV is like insane. For sure.

And at seven. And then the other kids are, you said, are a good like eight years older than you. So it's like. Are they eight years older than me? They're like 25, 26 now, I think. Yeah. So that's. So I guess, yeah. That's wild. So it's like a huge age difference, but they lump you together because you guys are kids and you're just like, well, we're not like quite the same. So. Yeah. That's. So you had to do the interviews. Did you do like a bunch of like magazine covers and stuff too when you were doing Modern Family? Magazines? No, we didn't. I mean, every year we had to do like an annual photo shoot for like. Just for the cover. For billboards and stuff like that.

And were you ever like, there's my billboard, like taking pictures, buy it and stuff? No, I never really like, you know, flaunted it as a kid. Really? No, not really. Well, honestly, too, like after like nine years, like you just...

It just becomes normal? It's so weird, but like you see yourself everywhere all the time. Like you're on a bus, you're on a billboard. Yeah, how cool. I mean, I don't know if you ever got used to it, but I was like, yeah, whatever. I mean, you still would get excited at certain things. Like when we went to Disney World and you were on like the tram and stuff. Oh, that's cool. I don't even remember that. That's fine. That's why, like that's, I couldn't even imagine that must be the most surreal thing. To see that now, I'd be like, oh my God, that's so cool.

that's so cool. Yeah. No, if I saw my studios, they had lots of Modern Family stuff at the time. Yeah, they used to have it really big. They had like the really big ones on the side of the studio, the sets. And it just, you're like, it's just normal. And it's funny because like, it was so normal for me as a kid, but it's like, I'm wondering if I ever book something again or something happened with music. Like,

I can't even imagine what it would be like to do that again where it's like you're just seen all the time everywhere. Do you want to be that? Do you want to be weird again? No, I think I would most definitely do it again but it would feel like surreal. It would feel like the first time because like I've always said this too like where it's like

They've been like, so you've been to the Emmys and you've done all this and, like, whatever. Like, you must be, like, so accomplished. And it's, like, you don't realize what a big deal it is at that age. Yeah. So, like, if I was to ever be nominated for anything, like, ever again, it would be such an emotional thing for me, which is, like, back then it just wasn't at all. Yeah. Right. It would mean so much more for me. Like, literally...

So she was five when she was in kindergarten and the Emmys are, I don't know if they still are as things change a little bit after the pandemic, but they were always on a Sunday. And she literally went to school the next Monday morning and she went, did you go to the Emmys last night? Oh my God. And the kid was like, no, no,

Don't forget, like, what is that? Yeah, but, like, to her, that was just normal. You go to the Emmys every year. You have nothing to compare it to. That is so wild. So, yeah, you think now you'd have, like, more of an appreciation, like, if you're getting nominated. And to have it twice happen in your life, kind of like Ed O'Neill, right? Like, he was in, like, Married with Children, so it's like that was his big show. But then Modern Family, two big shows in your lifetime. It's like...

It's pretty amazing. So you would do another big TV show. Like, could you go into one right now? Like a huge show. I don't know what's out there. Bridgerton or something. Like, would you go into it? I love Bridgerton. And I haven't watched the new season. I'm still in the second season. But I go in like phases where I get hyper fixated on it for a couple of days. And then I won't like think about it for like a month. But no, literally, I love that show. Oh, you haven't seen this third season? It's like the best season. It's so good. And they're filming the fourth right now. It's Benedict. And it's, oh my God. I'm so excited.

I love it. Would you go into like a big, like I know that they're all British, but like would you go into a big show like that? Absolutely. You would? I would love to do that. Yeah. Okay. That would be great. So you're not like, okay, so because you were done with Modern Family, you said when it was done, you were like kind of relieved it was over, but now you're like, no, I could do it again. No, I could 100% do it again. Wow. Yeah. I'm so ready. I love that. Yeah. Okay. Okay.

love that because I didn't know I know you were like really focused on like your band and doing like your own thing which I think is really cool but that'd be so amazing to see what other TV shows are you loving right now oh well I love Ted Lasso and didn't Shrinking Shrinking Ted Lasso it's the same creators of Ted Lasso oh what is it it's about these psychologists is it Jason Segel's

Yes. Okay. Harrison Ford. Oh, I haven't watched it. He's so good. He's so adorable and good at it. It's comedy? Can you remind me of Grandpa a little bit? But not grumpy. My dad's not grumpy. He kind of reminds me. Is his character grumpy? Just because of the age. Yeah, I know what you mean. Oh, we watch only murder.

Oh, so good. The new season was amazing. Oh my gosh. Yeah, those are, yeah, Selena Gomez is a good example of like a child star who like became this like really great adult star. She's a producer on that show. Oh, is she? Yeah, the three of them produce it as well. Oh my God, that's so cool like to be able to do that. I just saw like her and Benny Blanco are dating too currently. Yes. And it seems like they're so happy with one another and I'm really happy for them. And I think Benny is like so talented. He's like, he's made so many pop songs where I'm like,

I can't believe it. So many iconic songs. And he seems so like relatable too. You see him and you're kind of like, I could be friends with that person, but also like a genius in every single way. He was just in Sexiest Man Alive. He got one of the titles in the new people. Yeah. I think the number one was John Krasinski. I think he won. I just saw that today. Yeah. Love it. I don't know what he's doing, but I'm like, that's kind of great. That's kind of a slay. I wanted Jonathan Bailey from British and Wicked. I was like hoping maybe he would get it, but yeah.

Who would you like, what is it called, want to be the sexiest man alive? Like who do you think? Oh yeah, who do you think? God, I don't know. I need a second to think.

second to think about it. You don't have a celebrity crush. Jeremy Allen White. No, just kidding. I'm surprised he didn't. No, Jeremy, he should have been nominated this year. Yeah. Or Timothy. Was he nominated? He wasn't either. Jeremy Allen White should be because he's doing the Bruce Springsteen. Like, he's very relevant right now. Not to say John Krasinski's not, but I'm just saying, like, that would make sense for him to be on it. All the Gladiator boys. I mean, that Calvin Feiner. Oh, yeah. That made him really blow up. I mean, I feel like that should have, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm kind of surprised he's not. I guess, I don't know. People, everyone was a little upset. They're kind of like, what? It's kind of like odd that they didn't.

that they didn't have him. No, yeah. The celebrity crush is real. So you don't crush on celebrities. I do, but I'm trying to think who. There's gotta be someone I like right now.

And of course, I mean, everybody loves Jacob Elordi, I feel like, because of Salt Burn. So good. And Barry Keoghan from Salt Burn, everyone really likes. I love Barry Keoghan more than, what's his name? Jacob Elordi. Same. When I watched that, I was like, he's great. I like him. I know. Yeah. He's a great actor. Who would be your dream actor on actor if you were interviewing another actor? Oh, I don't know. I'm trying to think.

Like someone you love, admire? I feel like I'd want to do another... I'm trying to think if I want it to be somebody I know or somebody that I don't know. Oh, right. I guess sometimes... It just depends. Because I was going to say maybe Emma. Yeah.

Emma Watson. Because she's like kind of like a close friend of mine or like mentor. And I would love to like, I would love to interview her and like. That'd be a great interview. Oh my gosh. She has so many wonderful things to say constantly. So yeah. Oh, she's like so legendary. She would be part of so many like epic movies and stuff like. Yeah. Oh, that's amazing. She's the sweetest. And you can just like call her up and be like, hey. Kind of. Yeah. Wow. That's.

I like to hear that about her because she is such a mega star and she's like super like private so you just don't know anyone that's like friends with her so to hear that she's like a really cool girl. No for real and I won't talk too much about her because she is a private person. No of course. But yeah she's been such a great mentor in my life. She's like she's a great one. Another child star that turned into like you know a huge success which is like really cool. What's your dream mukbang?

Oh, I don't know. Well, obviously we did a crumble one, but like I want to do like a crazy crumble one where I get like the big cookies. Like we just did like the little ones and like, yeah, we just got the sampler one. Oh, you guys don't, you never have the big ones? Like the full size? We get the big ones, like one of them every now and then. We're so restrained. I don't know.

Yeah, and if you're on the diet right now, it's hard. It's like, ugh. It's such a Thanksgiving time. Maybe like Korean fried chicken, like something with that. I don't like Korean food. Yes. The BB.Q chicken, have you had that before? No, we haven't. We really? No. It's like the big Korean. What is the sauce that was on there? It's like this big Korean chicken. It's in Northridge. Do you remember the sauce we had? They have the kimchi and everything with it. It's really good, and it's right next to the Two Hands. Have you been there? The Korean fried cheese place? Oh, I haven't been.

So they're right next to each other. Yeah. But I used to, we used to live in Koreatown and so I used to love the Korean barbecue and stuff. Yeah. Do you guys, do you cook ever? She doesn't like to cook very much. I like cooking sometimes. It's a lot. But we're both really good at baking. Yeah. Oh, that's a talent. Like measuring it and all that stuff. Yeah, I can't do it. I know.

I never mentioned that. You don't? That's why people who cook say, like, I love cooking because you can just kind of eyeball it. Oh, I love this. Baking, you do that. You ruin the whole thing. I'm trying to make a souffle pancake and it was flat because I was like, I can't figure this out. Like, whipping it and all that stuff is, like, too complicated. Yeah, there's a science to, like, too much air, too much salt, not enough that it's baked.

soda. Oh, mine never works. So that's like a real talent. So Crumble's your favorite. What about like food, food? Like food? Oh, I love sushi. Actually, maybe that's dream mukbang. Like sushi, spicy tuna, crispy rice. That is my favorite. There's one in, what's the one in Hollywood? It's like a pink box. Have you had that one? No, I haven't. Sugarfish? No, it's not sugarfish, but it's like, it's a, do you remember the name of it? Remember we got it during quarantine? It was the crispy tuna one. Pink box. Okay. Wait,

He's a big sushi fan too. I like sushi. I like it. My dad works in B2B marketing. He came by my school for career day and said he was a big ROAS man. Then he told everyone how much he loved calculating his return on ad spend.

My friend's still laughing at me to this day. Not everyone gets B2B, but with LinkedIn, you'll be able to reach people who do. Get $100 credit on your next ad campaign. Go to LinkedIn.com slash campaign to claim your credit. That's LinkedIn.com slash campaign. Terms and conditions apply. LinkedIn, the place to be, to be. Triggerfish is amazing. We don't have one out here. And I could not get this girl to eat fish forever. Yeah.

Yeah. And now she's like, raw fish. No, I love it. Now you love raw fish. It's like wild. No, for real. Oh my gosh. And I would say like for like a mukbang specifically, like dream mukbang to like film, like I feel like I want to do one of those big ones where there's like talkie dusted and it's like the ramen and like those look just like Nick Cocado style. Like those look disgusting and I want it. Yes. You know what I mean? I feel like I just have to do it once.

The Nica Cotta one is wild. Or Jelly Bean Sweets right now with those giant burritos. She like eats those. No, I know. And she gets like so much hate right now. And I'm like, dude, if she wants to, she's living her best life. She's eating. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I love a muck big queen. I love that you guys do it together too. Because you were like vlogging on Modern Family. You were like eating a baked potato or something in one of the food vlogs. Oh, yeah. Like the food on set and stuff. Yeah. I'll just lunch at work.

I mean, it did look good. It looked very tasty. I kind of forgot that was like your go-to lunch for a long time. The baked potato? It was either that or a slice of cheese pizza. I know, it was our grilled cheese. Yeah. I got sick of the grilled cheese as fast. Which is it going to be? It was the pizza though. What a door of baked potato. That's like the dream life. I mean, I know it's like you didn't get like a regular childhood, but like how fun. We all had food. Yeah. Oh, there was always food. Yeah, we had like a whole room for craft services where it was like... We had really, really good craft

and I didn't even really realize how good it was until I booked some jobs on other shows like co-stars, guest stars or whatever and I can't remember what show it was but it was also it was a sitcom and their craft service was like a closet with like a couple granola bars and like some old cupcakes that someone brought I was like they had like catering it felt like everyday crap I'm like what? I'm like where's

There's like the 500 kinds of stew. We had like an open fridge and like a freezer full of popsicles and ice cream bars. You're like, this is not the modern family one. Three kinds of bacon, five kinds of eggs. And then we would get like really great stuff like catered in every day, like Tito's tacos. Empanadas. Poke bars. We'd have a huge salad bar every morning. You guys make me hungry. No, literally. Now I'm hungry. Oh my God. Oh, I know. And you're like, I love my baby carrots. You love baby carrots.

I know. That's so... And you're done with that in December then? You can just go back to eating? December. I started it yesterday, so December 12th will be my last day. Wait. Thanksgiving too? You're going to just...

We don't do a big Thanksgiving usually. But even if we do, I'm fine. I can just eat turkey and vegetables. It's fine. It'll be fine. It's kind of a healthy meal when you don't think about Thanksgiving. It's kind of like you said, just turkey and stuffing. Unless you eat all mashed potatoes and stuff. Well, that's me. That's what I want. No, I literally love mashed potatoes. Somebody criticized me the other day for saying that my favorite thing at Thanksgiving was mashed potatoes. And I was like,

Yeah, that's everyone's favorite. I'm like, are you literally lame? Like, what do you mean? Was it on Reddit? Don't read Reddit. Are you still reading it now? No, on Reddit. It was one of my other actor friends. And I was like, I can't believe he's hating on me for this right now. What did Isaiah? She hated. Oh, that's sad. Yeah, Isaiah, sorry. Okay, but she did. She hated mashed potatoes when she was a kid. I could not get her to eat it. I'm like, no, you are not my child. Mashed potatoes is the best. But you know what? My daughters don't like it either. And I'm like, but it's so soft and creamy. They love french fries, but not potatoes. One day they'll like it. But now she loves it.

Best Mashed Potatoes are KFC in my opinion. I love a KFC mashed potato. I mean, we make our own, but we love them. I haven't had KFC mashed potatoes, I don't think. Oh my God, they're so good. Okay. I'll have to keep that in mind. I don't eat it very often, but when you want it, it's like, watch out. Yeah, same. There's just someone that's like, oh.

because there's nothing else like it and it's so horrible and greasy and really not that good but it's so good I did get a little sick we had it Sunday night for the first time oh my god I used to eat it every day though and like never get sick and then I had we had it Sunday night and I got like actually kind of sick from it because I just like to eat the skin off the chicken it's so like crispy yes and it's like crispy it's so amazing I'm sure you've had Korean fried chicken right

yes well god there was a kyochon which one we had at the mall the korean the korean chicken that you love the galleria and yeah yeah what i forgot what it's called but yeah we used to go over there all the time they had the big crispy chicken which one did you just say this is in k-town it's on i can't remember what street but it's called kyochon chicken wing like that's like my food and it's a chain from korea and it's the only one here in k-town and um

They have a few different flavors, but the best one is the Honey Wings.

Oh, I haven't had honey wings. They're amazing. I don't know what kind of... The crispiest. Korean fried chicken is amazing. It's so moist and hot on the inside, and then it's crunchy and sweet and salty on the outside. Oh, God. How do they do that? How do they make it so juicy, but also, like you said, really crispy, well done on the outside? I think it's the way they dredge it. Because Slava, our friend, the dad of the family, he tried to recreate it, and he said it was such a pain.

I can't even imagine.

Yeah. Oh, it's so good. Oh, we used to, when we lived on there, I lived in the morning at the Grove. He was in Koreatown, but we used to like always go to that like little, it was the gallery at that mall and it was like so good. Like the chicken there, it was like amazing. And then that's when I first had the fried cheese was at the, it was like Mayim Grong hot dog and it was really, really good. And they had it. Oh yeah, those Korean corn dogs with the potatoes. I had one of those last week. Yeah, it was really good. Those are my favorite. I think I could have done like 50. Have you ever done those for a mukbang? No, I haven't. They're so fun with the cheese balls. Because like we won't just like film, like we like try foods that we've never like had before.

before. Yeah, we'll just see something in the grocery store and be like, ooh, what's that? Let's try that and we'll just eat that. That's fun. So something like you've never, what's your food? Yeah, like a little review. Have you ever had uni? Uni? I still haven't had it. What's that? Like sea urchin? Yeah. No, I'm scared of that. I'm scared. That's the one everyone like hates. He loves it, but we just had someone on here that's like, ooh, I hate it. But I'm like, that's like his favorite. Like you can find uni. I think it's in a quite, people who love it.

Love it. Love it. Yeah. She hasn't had an oyster, like a raw oyster yet either. I'm also scared to try that. I haven't either. Oh God. There's just, there's a video of me eating one somewhere and like, I guess I get like a, it's, and it was maybe the third time because I really believe in keep trying stuff because you eventually can develop a taste for stuff. Yeah.

But I have tried oysters three or four times now and I'm like, oh, it tastes like a mouthful of snotty. Yes. A snot. Of like chewy snot. Ew. That's his favorite food. Chewy snot. Yeah. Chewy snot. But I'm with you. It tastes like I'm drinking the ocean. I'm like, what? And then it's, oh, you gotta put hot sauce and everything. I'm like, I have to like kill the taste with something else. Exactly. Like why am I eating it? Yeah.

It's the worst actually. You have to like slide it down your throat. Like everything about it is – Yeah, and it's like you got a mouthful of snot. Yes. It's so nasty. But the consistency is like rubbery and chewy and like – It's awful. It really is. He goes crazy for an oyster. People go feral, bruh. Yeah, going to Mastro's, getting some oysters. It's like they're all you. What's a crazy food you guys want to try that you haven't? Dubai chocolate. Have you tried that? No.

We haven't had it yet. We haven't had it. I want to find it. Okay, Baskin Robbins, I think that has the Dubai chocolate ice cream bars. Have you seen it on TikTok? Wait, no. Now I need to try this. It just came out two days ago. Oh, gosh. What is her name? Oh, there's a really popular mukbanger. I can't think of her name, but she just tried it, and it's like the ice cream bar, and it's like the green. I want to try it so bad. I can't find them either. I don't know where people are getting them. They have them in New York. I know a couple places have the Dubai chocolate in New York. Last time we were in New York, we talked about it. We just didn't have enough time.

time. I know. Some people are making them on their own but it's like no I feel like it wouldn't be like the true experience. There's one in OC called Chimney Cakes. They make like cute little ice creams and they have it and they were supposed to send me some but they like never did so I was like maybe I have to make a. I know.

I'll make a trip down. Thanks, Chimney. Chimney cake. No, thanks, Chimney cake. They didn't send it to us. No, but that one would be – because what's in it? What's the green stuff? Pistachio. That would be really good. And then what is this stuff called that's like the crunchy stuff? Isn't it like phyllo or something? Yeah, it's phyllo, I think. Oh, I don't even know what that is. Have you ever had baklava? It's a Middle Eastern thing. I never had it, no. What? Do you like buttery things? Oh, I love buttery things. Okay, do you like nuts, girls? Yes, I do. I do.

Love the nuts. Okay, so you would love it then. I mean, baklava. Baklava is like so good. Have I had it? No. It's a paper thin buttery pastry and they do layers of like, I mean, it's literally like paper thin and then honey with honey and butter mixture with different nuts. So sometimes it's like walnuts or sometimes it's pistachio. Oh, I do love that. The nuts, then they pour like this butter honey over it. Then another layer pour the honey and it's just like

Oh my God. It's so crunchy. Just like right down. Oh my gosh. I love a dessert. Is it sweet or is it savory? It's sweet, but it's a little salty too because it's the butter and honey together. Like if you ever just had like toast with butter and then you put honey on it, it's like that. It's like that, but better. But with pastry, like thin, thin, crunchy pastry though, it is outrageous.

Any dessert like that I would try. Have you ever tried a crepe cake? Yeah. I love those too. I made a little mukbang with my friend just for fun. I didn't even post it but I had a crepe cake in it. It's so good. What kind was it? Was it like a matcha? Was it rainbow? Like what was it? It was just a plain like vanilla one but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've had a rainbow one too and those are fantastic. There's also a bakery near you guys. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I've been waiting for hours. Have you ever seen

the show Hacks? Do you watch Hacks? No, I haven't watched it. Oh, I do. I love it. So good, right? They have this like, I think it's the season three. They start off with like a coconut cake. Have you heard that? Yes, yes. The one that Tom Cruise sends everybody. That's at the bakery, but it's for us. Oh, yeah. Oh, you have to have it. Yeah, you've had it. It's good. Oh, it's so good. It's one of my favorites. Did they bring it over? Yeah, I think so. Really? Yeah. Oh my God, that's so bougie. They are so like, that bakery is so lucky that that happened to them.

of them right there's just a mom and pop place you ever been there yeah it's a mom and pop place and like if you go there depending if it's like that time of the year like because now they sell on gold belly because they're so famous for the cake because of tom cruise and you go there like you'll see all the gold belly boxes like piled up because they're getting ready to ship them out so smart love gold belly too shout out gold belly yes you can order like anything like famous foods really go kind of oh my gosh yeah like oh they sell this thing in ohio you can have it sent to you

you. Maybe. We probably do. It's time. Oh my gosh. I love it. I mean, honestly, talking about food like this is my favorite thing in the whole world because it's my happiness. It's the thing that brings me most joy. It really is for me. It's food, crocheting. Yeah.

Playing music. Is October the band playing anywhere coming up? No, not as of current. But yeah, I wish. Yeah, we're practicing. We added a new band member recently. We just added a keyboardist. Oh, wow. But yeah, over the summer, we just didn't really practice a lot because I was doing theater stuff and I was working on that. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, because they're all high school students too. And now I'm not in school, so I'm not as busy. But the rest of them, you know, college applications, they want to get into Berkeley School of Music and things like that. Wow, I was an athlete. Like, they're all so busy. We all do different things. Yeah. This is like the age in life where people just like separate, go their own ways. They got to figure out if we're going to see each other or not. For sure. So it's like, I think after next year, like we probably won't play in a band together. So that's why I'm really focusing on doing my own music. Yeah. Any plans coming up for the holidays?

For the holidays? Not really because, well, she's on her dive for Thanksgiving. Well, we had kind of maybe thought we were going to go to Japan. Yeah, we thought about it. We wanted to go to Disneyland there. And I know you really love Disneyland. Yes. Tokyo at Sea. Tokyo at Sea, yeah. Have you guys been? No. Have you been? No. That is so weird. Mo's going to test this. I literally told him yesterday. Really? It's all we talk about. Oh, my God. I show him all the TikToks of the little alien mochi. That's what I want. Yeah. I want them.

I want them so bad. Oh, wait. Are you guys thinking about going this year still? Maybe. And like the spring, maybe. Or next spring or next fall. Because, you know, you don't want to go during the summer. That's what I heard. It is like oppressively hot. And then it can snow and stuff in the windows. So like spring or fall. Yeah. Spring is like the peak, peak travel tourism season. Cherry blossoms and stuff. So like...

It's expensive. The airfare is expensive. It's super, because Japan's already crowded, but it's even doubly crowded. And I don't know if you know this about like Disney over there, like they don't have the reservation system. So like we do literally people will get up at like five in the morning and wait in a line to get through the front gate.

Oh my God. So we'll be doing that if we got there? I don't think you have a choice. You were in Modern Family. You should be able to get there at front of the line. You would think no. They don't? The glory days of the VIP guys are over. Wait, really? Oh yeah, we could talk about... Yeah, so basically growing up, since I worked for Disney...

um they gave me a free guide every single time that i went and we basically just went through the exit of all the rides and just got on immediately so did you think also everybody just did that were you ever no i don't think so okay you're like this is really special no i knew that i was really lucky for that oh and um now i we have a season pass and we just go all the time now so have you waited in line or do you still do vip we do we buy the lightning but still you gotta wait and plot

Oh, that's crazy. I feel like once you work for Disney, they should just give you lifetime VIPs. Like, I feel like... I feel like, yeah. I don't understand, like, how that... I mean, honestly, like, we just know what we got and everything. But, like...

so because you know there's like you can anybody can buy a vip guide right so um but the vip like i can't remember they call it something like the celebrity treatment or whatever right that's even like a step above because when you are just like a civilian you you hire vip guide you don't you just go through the lightning lane they help you just get your reservations and stuff yeah i could be a guy at that point like literally right right i know my way around around where i'm

around Disneyland like so well. You're like, I don't need it. Yeah. But if you are like considered, you know, like a recognizable person, they don't want you waiting in lines, even like a short line because you're considered a security risk because crowds can gather and, you know. And so like...

So she had it the whole time she was on the show. As soon as the show was ever done. Really? But then I'm like, you know, people who are super famous but who aren't on ABC Disney shows, like, do they have to pay for it? I think they just pay for it themselves. Does, like, Disney provide it? I think they are really strict. I talked to a few other people that were. Like if you're Justin Bieber or something. Oh, my God. You know who I saw at Disneyland once? James Charles. Oh. That's so funny. I know. I just want to. I felt like saying that. I feel bad. I felt like saying that. No.

no literally i don't know if he had a guide or anything i think he was just there like just chilling no literally i was like a like walking like you know like new orleans square yeah and i like looked to my right of pirates and i'm like why did i just see james charles like no because i didn't want to bother him you don't go up to celebrities even though you are a celebrity maybe if i like really really like them but i just was like i'm gonna let james be and do his thing wow i've never seen anyone famous at disneyland

Really? I've seen John Stamos bunches of times. Like he's literally there every day. My friend saw Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan together once at the Florida one. Yeah. At Disney World. Oh, Disney World. Because he has a season pass there. I actually see quite a few celebrities. I know Kourtney and Travis go there. But Tokyo Disney is the dream. I also want to go to Hong Kong Disney. Really small.

Oh, you've been to that one? No, but, you know, I was in Hong Kong. This was pre-pandemic. This was when she was a toddler. And I kind of wanted to go, but the guy who was – I was there doing comedy shows, and the guy who was kind of my host there, he was like, I mean, if you want to go, like –

we can make it happen. He's like, I think since you've been to Disneyland and Disney World so many times, you'll be disappointed because it's really small. Oh, interesting. That was how many years? You said like 15 years ago? It was when she was a toddler, so over 10 years ago. Because they built an errand aisle now, I've seen. That's what I've seen on TikTok. So that's like the reason I want to go. But it does look smaller. Tokyo is bigger. I know Tokyo is also really cheap. They're Disney over there. No, like the food is cheaper. The food is cheap. And the dollar is really strong over there right now. That's what I'm saying. We should go before like the whole economy is ruined. I don't know.

I know, right? Just in case. Go right now. I'm like, book a ticket tomorrow. Have you guys been to Japan? No, I've never been. So I'm really excited for the video. I'm excited for that trip. That would be so funny. Yeah, a lot of people are over there right now. And I'm like, oh, that looks super fun. I know. Everybody went last year. They had like record tourism and the Japanese people were literally like, stop. Were they over it? Yeah. Because it was just like, because, you know, everybody's...

Yeah. Like compared to Japanese people. They go there and they're disrespectful of the culture and I hate that. Yeah. I guess then it gets like overcrowded especially now everyone's like going there. I was like there is a weird surgence of it but. Yeah. We might go to Korea next year. Oh and we might. Oh I think we're going to go to Dominica in.

Oh, yeah. We're going to go for like a fun yoga retreat thingy. When was I saying it was? February? I think February or April. I think February. Oh, you have a lot of trips coming up then. Yeah, we're excited. We need to get to New York. There's so many shows we want to see in New York right now. We're dying. Oh, my God. We have to go. We're dying to go to New York. Same. We're going to New York next month and I'm like, oh, my God. I want to see everything. I want to see Romeo and Juliet with Rachel Zegler. Oh, my God. Barbie Ferreira is in a show right now. I want to go see her. I want to see Gypsy. Oh, my God.

oh yeah charlie d'amelio's in a show right now she's in julia yes but i think she's ensemble but she's killing it people are like oh she's like just ensemble i was like oh she's kind of killing it in there though no i bet she's killing i mean she's a professional dancer i mean that's what she does so yeah musical my friend just saw it like literally a couple nights ago called swept away have you heard about that one no supposed to be amazing she said it was

What is that one about? I don't even know what it's about, but it's very... There's Asian people in it, I think. It's a new musical, though, and she's like in the act. It's a really nice balance of musical and acting. Like, the acting is really intense. I would love to see that. I would love to see that, because usually musicals are just, like, lighthearted, or you get such a serious play, so, like, to have a mix of it would be, like... And that other one that you said, What's-His-Face's girlfriend is in, was that not something... Oh, I don't know. Andrew Barth Feldman's girlfriend is currently in it. Oh, yeah.

What is it? A musical? Yeah, it's a musical. Wait, that's one with Asian people in it. That's one that I'm thinking of. But I'm trying to think.

Anyway, but there's so many shows we want to see. Yes. Sunset Boulevard just came back. Oh, my God. Yeah. That one looks so good. I also want to see the new Tammy Faye. There's a Tammy Faye one with Christian Borle. I heard Death Becomes Her is good, too. Yeah. Oh, Death Becomes Her. Yes. Megan Hilty. I want to see that. Smash comes in January. But they're closing a lot of shows. I saw today that they're closing a ton of shows. I know. Like Back to the Future is closing and all these shows. Yeah. So, anyways, go see Broadway because I really don't want it to be closing. It's so sad. The tickets are expensive, though. They really are.

I saw The Notebook the last time that I went and like Joy Woods. Oh my God. So iconic. Oh, I never got to see it. Is it still on Broadway right now? I think it is. Yeah. So many shows. I know it's pretty close I feel but I guess it's like, yeah, go see it. Hop over there. I don't know.

I know. We haven't been since pre-pandemic, so I'm excited to go see it and see all that stuff. And get the Dubai chocolate, girl. Yeah. All the food. Well, we definitely have to mukbang soon. I'm so thankful you're here, both of you. This was such a treat to have you as well. No, you guys are like the best duo. Like your TikToks, truly, like your TikToks, YouTube. Thank you for talking about Modern Family. I'm sure that's like, it gets annoying after a while. Oh, no, I don't care, girl. Like it's, yeah. You're an icon.

I'm an open book. Even if you did nothing else, which I know you'll do a lot, even if you did nothing else, you're so iconic. You're such a staple in pop culture. So you should definitely be proud of that. And yeah, thank you for being here. And I can't wait to see what you guys do. And hopefully we'll see you in New York or maybe Japan or on Broadway. Yes. Oh my gosh. Thank you so much. Thank you. You're so iconic. Literally. Oh my gosh. This is great. Best. You guys check her out on her socials. I'll link it below. And we'll see you in the next episode. Bye. Thank you so much, Trish.
