Hi everyone, Alex here, founder and CEO of Rusty Quill Limited. This has been a huge year for Rusty Quill, so much so that it's been hard to keep up with everything, so we thought it would be a good idea to take a few minutes to get everyone up to speed ahead of 2024. So let's start with the RQ Network, which has continued to showcase the very best in podcasting talent from around the world. We have gained a whole host of new shows, including Divisor, Spirit Box Radio, West Side Fairy Tales, Not Quite Dead, The Lovely Dark, Selene,
These shows have been carefully curated to ensure that they are the best of the best, and if you are a fan of our work, we guarantee you will find something new to love in them.
What's more, we have a whole load of new shows to announce in 2024, so you won't run out any time soon. On the RQ Originals side, it's been equally busy with Cry Havoc: Ask Questions Later releasing to wide acclaim, best summed up in a review from The Telegraph, which described it as "somewhere between Succession and Up Pompeii". We're all incredibly proud to have worked on this project, and if you haven't listened yet, you definitely should.
There's 20 episodes of ancient Roman dramatic comedy available to listen to for free, plus a bunch of backstage content being released to public as we speak, which patrons can access right now.
We have also launched Neon Inkwell, our brand spanking new weekly podcast which features short-form, full-cast audio fiction by up-and-coming creators from around the world, and we've started with Of That Colossal Wreck, an existential sci-fi horror written by Sasha Sienna and Jonathan Sims of the Magnus Archives. This seven-part series follows five artificially created humans that wake up with fractured identities on the derelict space station Ozymandias, only to find they might not be alone in the dark.
But the best bit about Neon Inkwell is that as soon as one story ends, another begins. Whether it's a US coming-of-age tale about a would-be cult sacrifice, a heartfelt Australian comedy-drama about a private consulting wizard, a gothic haunting story set in modern-day Ireland, a quirky monster road trip, or one of the other countless tales lined up, Neon Inkwell has you covered. And, as always, you can backfire Patreon for 48-hour early access, along with bonus content for this and our other shows.
Lastly, we have to mention the overwhelming support we have seen for the Magnusverse this year. Between the record-breaking Magnus Protocol Kickstarter, the Europe-wide ARG, the massive tabletop RPG crowdfund, our incredibly busy MCM London appearances, and the fantastic reception of the Pre-Master Protocol preview at Cultplex, we've been a bit overwhelmed.
Now we're looking ahead to 2024 and thinking it's only going to be bigger, because I am happy to announce that The Magnus Protocol, the long-awaited sequel to The Magnus Archives, is set to launch to the public at 4pm GMT on 18th January 2024 via the existing Magnus Archives RSS feed.
So if you are already subscribed there, you don't need to lift a finger. Higher level patrons and early access Kickstarter backers can already access a pre-master preview version of the double length pilot and we'll be getting ongoing 48 hour early access to every episode starting on the 16th of January, 2024.
Thanks to your support, this series is more ambitious than anything we have attempted before, with heaps of bonus episodes, full orchestral music, spin-off series, a video documentary, and even a live theatrical tour, which we'll be giving more details on soon. Now, if you're wanting to get in on the hype ahead of the holidays, we have a whole mess of goodies you can get your hands on thanks to our merch partners, including Redbubble and TeePublic.
which now have new designs including the Magnus Protocol launch items, the Dice Dungeon, which is offering a limited edition set of the entity's polyhedral dice, including an exclusive extra-large D16 featuring icons representing the Magnus spheres, as well as the very last of the Rusty Quill gaming dice, Sucre Bay, who have created a new fragrance called John and Martin featuring rock rose, rich benzoin resin and vanilla, and Monty Cook Games, who are selling copies of the Magnus Archives RPG. We'll put links to all of these in the show notes of this announcement.
Thank you so much to all of you for continuing to support us and help make all this happen. Whether through buying merch, attending events, supporting via Patreon, or even just recommending us to people, you are all helping to keep our story engine chugging so we can keep building something really special, and we hugely appreciate it. So, as a little thank you from us to you the listener, let's close out this year with a trailer for The Magnus Protocol, and we will see you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for 2024.
Come in. Hi. Sorry, I hope I'm not too early. The email said 9pm, but... That's quite alright. Please take a seat. Samama, isn't it? Sam is fine. Very good. Thank you for coming in. Alice has spoken highly of you. You went to university together, I believe? Oh, yeah. Well, you have a strong CV, decent cover letter, and you present well. Oh, thank you. So you do not want this job? No.
Listen, if you think I'm overqualified, I- It would be difficult not to be. But no, it's not that. To be more accurate, you shouldn't want this job. This kind of work, it isn't for everybody. I'm not sure I understand. You are clearly a bright, sociable and ambitious young man who works hard. So? So I have no use for you. Please. Look, I need this.
The hours are punishing and the work is both monotonous and unpleasant. You will have few social interactions and depression is highly likely. Not a problem. In that case, I have an aptitude question for you. What is the worst thing you've ever seen? I'm sorry? You've seen a friend or relative die? Perhaps an accident? Maybe some kind of violent crime?
Something stranger, then. Maybe something you've never been able to explain and no one would ever believe. Be honest now, Sam. Or I can't offer you the job. Yes. Wonderful. Thank you for your time, Sam. We'll be in touch.
