Another cabinet pick. I'm Chris DeMeo, Fox News. President-elect Trump announcing Brooke Rollins of Texas as his pick for secretary of agriculture. She served on Trump's 2016 Economic Advisory Council. In a statement, the president-elect said Brooke's commitment to support the American farmer and the defense of American food self-sufficiency is second to none.
President-elect Trump is just about done making cabinet choices three weeks after the election. President-elect Trump made one of the most anticipated announcements, his choice of Scott Besant as Treasury Secretary comes after days of uncertainty and a reported fierce battle for the coveted role. Besant is the founder of hedge fund Key Square Capital Management.
Besson had advocated for a three by three by three approach to the economy. And the idea is to cut the budget deficit to 3% of GDP by 2028, push economic growth to 3% using tax policies and produce an additional 3 million barrels of oil per day.
Fox's Madeline Rivera. Republicans are feeling positive about President-elect Trump's new choice to leave the Justice Department. His first choice, former Congressman Matt Gaetz, dropped out of the running. Trump has known Pam Bondi for years. She served as Florida's attorney general between 2011 and 2019. In Trump's nomination announcement, he said, quote,
For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans. Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting crime and making America safe again. I look forward to confirming Pam. I don't think she'll have any problem at all. And President Trump will get what he wants to get to get the attorney general's office serving the American people again, not serving the
party interest of the Democrat Party. Bondi has also served as a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, so extensive legal experience. Fox's Christina Coleman. America's listening to Fox News. You've started that business.

The defense resting its case in the trial of Marine veteran Daniel Penny. All the evidence is in for the manslaughter trial against 26-year-old Daniel Penny, accused of going way too far and recklessly placing 30-year-old Jordan Neely in a chokehold on a New York subway train for nearly six minutes.
Penny's defense, though, claims the former Marine was protecting his fellow passengers and put on a robust defense case, calling it nine witnesses before resting yesterday. The final witness revealing Neely had an open bench warrant at the time of his death. The jury also heard Friday from a defense pathologist who believes the chokehold alone was not
Fox's Chanley Painter.
Well, despite continued ceasefire negotiations, strikes continue in Beirut and other parts of southern Lebanon. In addition to Gaza, here's Fox's Stephanie Bennett. Early morning strikes in Beirut. They destroyed an eight-story apartment block, killing more than a dozen and injuring more than 63 people there on the ground. The strike happened around four this morning, local time. The Israeli military did not warn residents to evacuate before the attack, which they have done on previous attacks.
And Israeli media claim it was an attempt to assassinate a senior Hezbollah official. And this comes a day after heavy bombardment of Beirut's southern suburbs and the coastal city of Tyre. This week, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein traveled to the region in an attempt to broker a ceasefire deal to end this more than 13 months of fighting there.
Lebanese health officials say that the death toll is expected to rise. An Israeli rabbi living in the United Arab Emirates is missing. Israeli authorities are raising suspicions that he may have been kidnapped as tensions remain high with Iran.
