The Treasury Secretary drama is over. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. President-elect Trump nominates billionaire investor Scott Besant to be Treasury Secretary, ending days of maneuvering that saw high-profile candidates pitted against each other. In this statement, they said that Scott will support his policies that will drive U.S. competitiveness, stop unfair trade imbalances, work to create an economy that places growth at the forefront, especially through our
becoming world energy dominant. Now, Besant's been defending Trump's economic plans to raise tariffs. Some economists have criticized tariffs, saying they'll raise prices on American consumers and manufacturers here who source items from abroad. Fox is rich at Senate in West Palm Beach, Florida. If confirmed by the Senate, Besant would be the nation's first openly gazed Treasury secretary.
Trump also nominated a flurry of other candidates for his administration. The president-elect also nominating Russ Vaught to lead the OMB. He actually did that same job during the first Trump administration. Additionally, Republican Congresswoman Lori Chavez Dreamer of Oregon is set to serve as Secretary of Labor. NATO and Ukraine will hold emergency talks Tuesday after Russia attacked Ukraine with an experimental missile. Russia says a newly developed hypersonic ballistic missile was fired at a Ukrainian military facility as a message that Moscow will respond to any reckless actions by Western nations supporting Ukraine.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky called the use of Russia's new missile a clear and severe escalation. At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News. A teenager may be tried as an adult in the stabbing death of a 13-year-old cheerleader in Tennessee. The boy charged in Savannah Copeland's death is 15 years old. The church cheerleader was found dead by her father on the trail.
Knox County Sheriff's deputies say the boy brought her to the walking path in Powell, Tennessee after midnight and stabbed her multiple times with a pocket knife. The father later tracked her cell phone and discovered her body.
Gary Baumgarten, Fox News. Wolverine packing issues on meat recall after 15 people reported getting sick. More than 167,000 pounds of ground beef being recalled over E. coli concerns. The products were distributed to restaurants nationwide and have been linked to several illnesses in Minnesota. Fresh products have a use-by date of November 14th, while frozen products are labeled with production date of October 22nd.
The USDA is saying over 100 products manufactured by Detroit-based Wolverine Packaging Company are subject to recall. The ground beef was found to be contaminated by the same E. coli strain linked to onions in some McDonald's quarter pounders in October. C.J. Papa, Fox News.
