And then he was never hurt from again. Jose's last communication was to his Fiona Megan in the morning on saturday, june twenty fifth. James version of events .

Jake first told investigators that on saturday, june twenty fifth, he and two friends went bridge shopping until about eight P. M. He then claimed he and his friends took a drive to a small town east of known called Solomon. Then he returned home to his partment in no me around one thirty in the morning, but on his cell phone they found text messages where jake was asking his friends to lie for him. He told them he used them in a fake story for the state troopers and ask them to say they were with them.

Jake lied about where he was, and he tried to get his friends to lie form too. But why would jake need to lie in the first place? After seeing jax text, the state troopers talked to his france, and they denied ever being with him.

This then created a massive gap in jail timeline. Where was jake from eight P. M. To one thirty am on saturday night. And why do you feel he had to .

lie about IT? He doesn't sound .

like you one hundred percent truth with me. So I just, I can I can understand how somebody would no rate up until the point that they made at home. But then you just hang out for four hours. You can do anything else. I hope that, man, saturday onions, there is something else that was going on. And I got to feel that I don't wonder why you told me the other day that you went out to salm turn around to onder why somebody would say that, and then and then point to two fellows work there. Why would somebody come with that?

Because I didn't know what to say, like one of the first time, say you.

So jack initially lied to the troops about what he was doing and where he was on saturday night. After the troopers interviewed his friends and confronted him about that deception, he told them that he wasn't used to dog in the troops and he was nervous, and then he says that he saw Joseph alive and well in the hallway, the home around one thirty P. M.

On sunday. And yet the trooper sergeant said he saw the truck at my forty four between one thirty two pm. I would view the troopers observation as accurate. That alone should have opened a murder investigation, right?

Maybe he just panicked and made up a story, but why there wasn't any need to? Why is that time period even important to jack at all? If you saw jose alive and well at his house the next day, who cares what you were doing saturday night, unless he's lying about a lot more than just that. What jake was really doing between eight P M and one thirty A M on saturday night still remains a mystery.

The various sightings of Joseph truck on saturday when he went missing are already very confusing, but on sunday there are even more sightings, and not in the same place that everyone else claim to see IT. The day before stamp, koa says he saw just this truck at their apartment in no on sunday at eleven thirty A M, again, twenty four hours after just have stop responding to everybody.

At the same time, other people claim they saw Joseph truck forty plus miles outside of known. And then again on sunday, jake's own mom, bony, and a step dad, kk, claim they saw truck flying down known council road at a high rate of speed around three thirty pm in. They found IT strange that he didn't stop what is going on here, all from this family, but all the other sightings from different people who aren't related, they don't connect. Do you recall saint Joseph at any point during the weekend that he disappeared?

We were last time I saw him was when he drove by camp on sunday. I'm not sure what the data that would have been that weekend. We were working on the new a addition, their camp, which is at mile twenty six on the council road.

We were my wife and I were working on the deck, and we saw his pickup go, just fly. And by and SHE mentioned something like, all there goes. Joseph and I looked up at the last second to see the blue truck go away. And I didn't really realize he had a blue truck.

I guess I didn't really pay attention when he drove, so I just didn't thinking anything at the truck and but without didn't stop bags is about time to eaten Normally process stopped to say hi bit i'm assuming that was him in the drug. I couldn't get a super good look at his face because I would buy pretty fast. But but IT was odd that he didn't stop in. I just seemed like he was in hurry to get somewhere else. truck about ten because I looked at the vehicles and buying, I didn't know at that time. I was just struck until later when body said that driving that truckin and was down there at the road know he had to be a go go in same .

There's really credible witnesses, multiple witnesses, who saw a part in the same position, you know, back in there on saturday afternoon and saturday night, seven pm, and as latest, ten, thirty or eleven pm, same position. And then two folks saw at ten forty five A M. On sunday surgeon cross, the two forty five pm sunday.

Then you have three go back.

right? And then then his whole is show stands w apart of the house and jay saw met like I don't know what he said one thirty or something yeah. So that's weird .

that we been thing in the same thing that is like we were trying other stuff. 晚安。

What do you think the explanation is?

One thing I think there is maybe he came back in the town, just made a quick run in the town to get stuff. The more and maybe more fish and dry clothes or something in my back out. We are there till I don't know, maybe eight a clock.

So night ten, we are out working on the place. So we had to seen and go by a by again. And we are kind expected to come by through and and stop, but no one able to come back through over there. So he was a .

You know, the thing, you know, if I say I left him the all these messages, Christina left ted messages and so none of those got answered and if he was back and down, that's a little, that's a little.

But yeah, he was .

Do you have any idea what he was doing up there are forty four.

Once we ve found out he was missing, I I think was the next day or something when we always learn from a radio set. But they assumed he was hiking, fishing, that he had wanted to cline that ridge. So we just know we went right to the search over here, have been come apart of that and what was going on and looking at the map.

And then I was looking at that ridge and saying, if I was doing this, this is what I would have done, what I would have done. And that kind of the road he was going to take is the easiest, at least, resistance, and go down the road across the bridge. I've climbed that region, paralyzed off that before.

It's really easy climb. And once I found out he like to run ridges, I said, I made you when where across the top and either came out of these fork and back or human back those longer ranges to tweet flu extensively with our own private playing. We flew for hours and hours and hours on a on that search for days of our plane.

And in fine he'll have a trees and eleven. With bar always talking, you know that very high bar very high. And we saw a lot of bears while we are doing the searches in that very area.

And I know they do very, very there, but they kill and they can be very hard to see something to hunters around your stuff. They even and on again. They didn't know there's stand out.

So I don't mean we could have passed him who knows how many times was somewhere not even known IT if if he was very by a bear or something. Someone found a leg here a few weeks ago down in that area, and they were very picking. And so that started a whole rumor that you only found a leg of justice leg.

But I was, I think I end up in a rainer leg, which I was pretty positive, probably what I was. There is that who started some rumour about, you know, jake may have done something because they are remain in the same house and I knew that obviously isn't anywhere closed their raping because I know jake very well those two ages were so far a party they just live in. The analyst really didn't hang out or anything. They just were remains in there. Not only rumors I heard on that stuff, everybody just thinks it's a Better, truly a Better guy or something.

So Better talk to fishing game. And they said there's never a Better of fatal bear mine on the supranational.

What are you got instinct about what happened .

to him party? He says it's a bear just because this area and where he was and alone, not armed. But another part of me just seems it's a little fishy because of how he was and how intelligent he was.

And he did this kind of ridge running extensively, and he has pictures to be on the top of everything around Normal all over the place. So as something he didn't regularly and he knew how to do IT, and he was very athletic. It's not a bear, something this is not adding up with. I knew that traffic and forth a lot with drugs and alcohol.

I just get where you know.

it's just an oud feeling that somebody's got him somewhere and is not there or we should have found something. But that two weeks of extensive searching, we should come up with a shoe, you know, something to show that he was in that area.

You were called Joseph.

talking about anyone that he was having problems with a known for whatever reason. No.

and never heard anything about anybody not like in him.

You know I tried to call jake eleven times late this afternoon in the evening and every time the call fails um because he's not accepting calls. And when the first investigator came out here um while the search was going on and everything um he tried to interview jack a number of times and each time even though jack said he failed to call back and the guy even ran into him in a bar and talked him and he said he d get with him and I never did um so I mean jake will has probably the most relevant important information of any of the people and even in a little details that he doesn't think might be important, might fit with something else that we know. In terms of the bigger picture, do you have any idea why he's reluctant to speak with us?

He's very, very quiet this very quiet and can reserve and no faces, you know, feeling weird because he's gone now and maybe thinks about the man for someone obviously not doing thing or whatever I don't know, maybe something like that, I don't know.

as andy clams are continued collecting the facts, IT was starting to paint a really bizarre picture. Joseph drops off the grade entirely on saturday morning in everyone who sees them afterwards is related. Christine, jake, their uncle, jack's mother, boni jack stept, at current, how does any of this make sense? I feel .

pretty confident that jose's truck was being moved around on sunday. And given jake statements and some of the other suspicious behavior by jake you, I feel pretty strongly that the most likely exploitation for jose's disappearance is that someone has done something to him. After I interviewed curr, they were urging me to talk to jack.

So I I called jack a bunch of times, like eleven times. I think the first day was there. And he always had his phone set to not accept cause he continues to say that he observed Joseph coming out of his bedroom about one thirty pm. On sunday and leaving the house.

He claims that he never, never saw any guns at the house there the Joseph might have had, which struck me as Frankly, that didn't bring true to me because Joseph couldn't even launch the daughter is room, you know, he had to keep the door close with a bungee cord. IT had bought that tourist pistol and march. And I just think it's highly unlikely that j, staying in a bedroom right next to his, wasn't aware of that.

Never thought jack denies that there was ever any friction between them about anything, denies that there was any dispute about the internet, which also doesn't ring true to me. The whole issue of jake lying about as wearable ts and trying to create an alabi. So I mean, jack said that he did that because he was nervous and he couldn't remember what he did that weekend.

I mean, we have a situation where all of us, you know, all of this work that i've done is basically work that should have been done by the troopers. But you're in a situation where, for whatever reason, the troopers decided not to investigate this and to basically just close IT out. And now they're in a pretty defensive posture about the whole case .

to those trippers ideas. They came out, they were just to take the shock .

and process. They didn't do butter. They did not do that. A lot of people have commented that IT was kind of a problem. That truck was left out there, and so many people went through IT IT wasn't told in and put in secure, impounded and told just before the abi guys got out there. And I think that was because the local troops knew that that was something they should have done. And so they did IT at the last second so that when the abi guys got out there, they would have the vehicle in the secure impound at the police department there to look at IT. They didn't process the vehicle forensically for anything .

There's no proof, anything yet, but he was his roommate person he was living with when Joseph ent. Missing so it's not weird to talk to people about somebody you knew yeah.

I don't care what case we're doing. I'm going to talk to the rooming of the person who is one the last people to see that person alive. And so if he's weird about IT, that will be weird.

I'll give him the benefit of the deal. I'll say he didn't do anything. He did some weird things though, right? And so we're coming in as outsiders trying to eliminate the red herrings.

Then we need to be able to eliminate some of the word things. He said he did. I did not see the urgency of the roommate making up an alias when you don't know he's not coming back yet.

Why are you assuming that you need an aloof I for anything if you just disappeared, unless you know more than you're same? The thing about doing a true crime podcast in investigating IT in real time is that everything can change in an instant. Last night, right before I was about to publish this episode, I GTA call from jose's sister selena.

Since twenty sixteen, she's managed a tip line for Joseph, answering all the calls herself. There hasn't been a new call on the tip line for years until last night. This is the real recording, but I changed the person's voice to protect them. Just one. Hi.

Hi, pain, I have a story I think you'll find IT interesting. IT was a couple months after Joseph went missing that summer in two thousand and sixteen. That night I went to a house party.

IT was at jaks house, the same house where Joseph used to live. There is a bunch of people there. We were all hanging out, but I only had one beer that night. Something was off. The vibe in that house was different pain I could .

feel IT IT was late.

Everyone was drinking. And there was a group of people crowded around. And James room, I was standing in the door way, and jake was sitting on his bed.

He looked up at me. He said, do you know who Joseph all there is? At first I was confused.

I told jake, I never knew him. The room got quiet, and jake said he was my roomy, but now he's missing. Then he turned his hand and held both of his hands in the air. I was scared. He made a gesture like he was holding a rifle, and he pretended to look down the scope.

He stood there frozen still, pretending to hold a rifle in his hands, just staring down .

And his friend .

I laugh in a hurry and ran back to my house. I couldn't sleep that night. I couldn't stop thinking about IT.

It's been eight years now, and i've never stop thinking about that moment. I believe he had something to do with Joseph s. disappearance.
