And I actually just got back from my, actually my summer travels, which I haven't been home in two months. I haven't been home since the beginning of June, which has been very, very great. I'm very grateful to have gone all these different places, but I will say I am so happy to be back home and I'm like, I don't want to go out for another month or two. Like I would like to sit here and get my life together and get working and
I feel like I've just been so all over the place this summer and I'm honestly really, really excited to be back home. But we did have a lot of fun and we have a lot to recap. We have a lot to go over. I actually came back last night
I think I got in at like 11 p.m. and I completely surprised Braxton. He thought I was going to be in Europe for another week and that's because I lied to him. I told him that I was going to be there until like August 11th or 12th and that's also what I was saying online, but I really wanted to prank him because I never get to pull surprises on Braxton. He's just really smart and he always figures everything out and I was like, you know what? This is my opportunity. I want to surprise him. He's in training camp right now for football. So basically that's where they're
going to work from like 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It's very long, tiring days, very brutal on their body. And I just know it's like it's kind of like the worst time of the year for them. And I'm in Europe living it up. And I wanted to like surprise him and make him happy. So I was like, you know what? Me just coming home regularly is
isn't going to cut it. I need to tell him that I'm staying there another week. He was so upset. He was like, I can't see you for three weeks. Like this was actually the longest that we've been apart for since I've known Braxton. So I really, I made this whole big dramatic deal of we were going to be apart for three weeks, but really it was only like two weeks because I just, I wasn't, I wasn't staying there for three weeks. I lied. So yesterday I went so in depth with this lie and
I mean, I don't want to say a lie. It was like a great surprise, but I really, I wanted to do something fun for him. And for me, this was fun. So I went so in depth with this surprise for Braxton that I took a whole day of content. I put on a new bikini that I hadn't worn on vacation. I put on a new outfit I hadn't worn. I took pictures of like our meals. I took pictures of bars so that he hadn't seen before. So that while I was traveling for 20 to 4 hours, 22 hours, I guess, I would have content to send him. So it was believable. Yeah.
And, first of all, I started off this live with saying, hey, babe, going on a boat day today. Don't know if we're going to have that much service because, honestly, the service anyway, and we were in Italy, was, like, terrible. So, Braxton thinks that I'm on a boat day in Italy. That's where I'm at for 10 hours, but really, I'm on a flight from Italy to New York, and
I was on this flight for 10 hours. He really didn't question anything, but he was also in practice during the whole time. I come back. I'm like, boat day was great. I sent him a picture of my outfit. I was like, yeah, we had the best time. We're getting ready for dinner now. And then we're going to go out to a bar. So Braxton's texting me back and forth while this is all happening. I'm literally sitting in the JFK airport, like waiting to board my flight to Miami. He thinks he's still not seeing me for another week. And I'm like,
I was so nervous during this because I wasn't sure if he had like figured it out somehow, even though I don't know how he would. And I've got some questions. People are like, well, this must mean you don't have each other's location, which we actually don't have each other's location. We just trust each other. But maybe I broke that trust after this little prank that I pulled. I'm texting him. He still thinks I'm in Italy for another week. I get back to Miami last night. The only person I had told was Braxton's mom because she's staying with him right now and
I wanted to make sure I could like get into Braxton's house and that he was still awake. So I finally get back last night. I say hi to Braxton. I literally walk into Braxton's house and he was standing there like shocked. Like he had seen a ghost. Like I've never seen Braxton so speechless. Like Braxton's such an animated person. But last night he literally was standing there like looking at me like, oh,
hello and I walk into his front door he had no idea like I just can't imagine like what was going through his mind if like I thought that Braxton was in Europe and all of a sudden he walked through my front door I would be like wait what is happening right now it was really really fun I was able to pull off this surprise and he told me he was like I've never been surprised in my life because he
He just, he always figures everything out. Like one thing about Braxton, he is smart. He knows everything. He also knows like when I'm lying, so I never get to lie to him. So I had to like really, really be thorough with everything I was doing during this. I even was to the point of, I was saying that we were out at a bar. I was making, I'm literally sitting on my flight, sending him texts as if I'm drunk, like spelling errors and the words. So I was really, really playing into this character.
And it worked. I pulled off a surprise. So I had fun with my little prank there, but now we're back. I'm so happy to be back home, back in America. I'm able to get iced coffee again. They don't make iced coffee in Europe, really. It's like a kind of like a foreign subject to them. So I'm very excited. I got an iced coffee this morning. I'm happy to be back in Miami. I haven't seen it here for two months. I'm happy to get my life in order.
And I'm really, really excited for this episode because we sat down with John, who...
is not only like one of the most famous DJs right now. He's so smart. He's so talented. He's such a great friend. And I'm really excited that we got to sit down with him for this episode and you guys get to know him a little bit better. I had you guys, I had the Earl girls write in questions this week for a mail to answer because we were with my friends in Montauk and my friend gets a text from this guy that she had been going on dates with. And he texted her like, I have a reservation tomorrow night at the Polo Bar.
And she was like, is this an invite to go with him? Or is this him just like saying that he's going to this restaurant? She was like, I'm really, really confused. And I was like, that's obviously not an invite. Like if a guy wants to take you out on a date, he should be asking you and like preparing and say something nice and thoughtful. And John reads the text and he was like, obviously that's an invite. Yeah.
And I just feel like that's such, like, a boy response. They think very simple. And girls, like, we tend to just complicate things. So I had the Earl girls write in some questions if they're struggling with things with the guy. It's almost like, what would Alex do? But it's, what would...
what would John say? So we had John answer some of those questions and the background of this clip that we're about to show you guys of us sitting in Mykonos is it looks like a green screen. It was so stunning. So how this all happened is John was playing at a club in Mykonos. It was his
birthday that week as well. The week prior to this, we literally were not planning to go to Europe at all. I was planning to come back to Miami like a week and a half ago. And John text us and is like, hey, I think everyone should come to Mykonos. I'm getting a villa for my birthday. It's going to be a lot of fun.
So obviously we were like, we have to go. So we really didn't know much going into this trip. We just were like, okay, let's get the flights. Let's go to Mykonos. John booked the most insane villa I had ever seen in my life. Like this place was absolutely stunning and gorgeous. And we were literally saying, we were making jokes. We were like, we're literally in Love Island Mykonos right now. Like this place was just absolutely,
Absolutely insane. That place is so much fun. So stunning. The food is great. I am a huge fan of Greece. I love it there. And we had the best time. The trip was just like everything and more. And we were sitting down to podcast with John. Well, I was sitting down to podcast with John for this episode. And I had the camera set up like inside in a bedroom. And John was like, Alex, like, I feel like we're in Mykonos. We should go sit outside with like the beautiful view. So we sat outside. But the only thing about that is...
One, I was like blinded for half of the episode because there was like sun just like blaring in my eyes so I could like barely see anything. So I'm like sitting there squinting the whole time.
Two, you may hear some like ocean breezes, some helicopters go by, some boats, some wind at some points, but it's okay because it's really like you guys are sitting outside with us in this next clip. And third, there's like a black dot on my head throughout this episode. I think there must have been like some fuzz on the camera or something that I forgot to clean off and...
there's just like a little black dot but it's okay we're hot mess it happens this is what happens when i'm setting up the cameras after going out in mykonos for four days but this episode is a lot of fun i'm really excited for this john is just like so funny and he's just he's the sweetest person ever so i'm really excited for this before we get into this don't forget to like follow and subscribe to this podcast but it's time let's take a little trip let's go on vacation we're going to hang out with john summit in mykonos hi
Hey, what's up? So should we go back and explain how we met, how we became friends? Because I feel like people don't really know. The actual backstory? Yes. People have seen, I think. We met in the back of a car on the way to this soccer game last year. That was almost like a year ago. Yeah. And I didn't even know I was going to this. I found out like five minutes before. And then...
we were in the car with a bunch of other people who we also didn't know. Like no one in this car knew each other. It's like me, Alex, Floyd Mayweather is like the most random group of people of all time. And I sat next to John. So then we're talking, he's like, I'm from Chicago. And we were like friendly at the time. And we went into the suite for the soccer game. And that was like my first time at a soccer game like that, where there was just like
a bunch of paparazzi like staring into this suite because we were with like all these famous people and it was like Messi's debut like playing for Miami so everyone came out for it
I mean, I've never seen anything like that. I remember like as soon as we walked in, we're like, this is awkward. Let's get a drink. He literally was like, oh, do you want to get a drink? And I was like, yeah, no, I actually don't know what we're doing here. So like, I feel like I get really shy at first when I first meet people. I feel like you do too. Oh yeah, definitely. Like you're much more like talkative now than when we first met. But I feel like in that type of scenario, I just like, I never know how to act. And like,
We come out there, there's a million cameras staring at us. And then there's also seats and I don't wanna take a front seat 'cause I'm like, I'm not important in this scenario. So I'm like, I'm just gonna stand in the back and we're standing in the back talking literally like, what do we do right now? We're talking through our teeth to each other.
And ESPN like takes a video of this and like clips it and it looks like I'm ignoring you. Yeah. You also have the biggest RBF of all time. I do. I don't know how to like change that. I have to start working on it. I've tried. No, it's not a bad thing. Like you're like...
like constantly serving but meanwhile I'm just like trying to be an idiot you're on another planet and I like look like I hate everyone and yeah that got clipped and honestly it started a great friendship because it looked like I was being a bitch to you and I felt so horrible so the next morning I'm seeing this video everywhere and I text John and I was like this is like we have to like
We have to like play into this. Like we have to make fun of this. So I literally came over to your apartment before I went on a boat day. Me and Kristen came over and...
What do we like took a shot and then we made a video actually helped me a lot too because I woke up with so much anxiety because I've never been you know posted by ESPN or anything yeah, and I just wake up to all attacks from all my friends from back in Chicago and stuff like oh my god I'm like oh my music like no you had a sporting event
I truly think we redeemed ourselves. That was fun. Then you guys went to one of my events at Factory Town in Miami. Yeah. And then, you know, became friends through music and then met your larger friend group, you know, talking to your sister. Yeah.
Yeah, no, it sparked a great friendship. Do you ever get stuff posted of you on social media that gets taken out of context like that? Like I'm sure a lot of times. Yeah, because no one has context for my life in general besides the music and they only know what they see on stage. I'm a pretty reserved person. This is only my second time doing something like this. Versus you, your whole life, everyone knows everything about you so it's such a wild world you live in. I find it
endlessly fascinating though. And then like how carefree you guys are all about it. Yeah. But I feel like you share like a lot online about your life. Yeah. You're pretty active on social media. I do. I do. But not like, not my personal life though. Yeah. But now I've been more open to it. But I feel like once you put stuff about your personal life out there, you can't like really take it back sometimes. So it's scary and it can be a lot. And I feel like you got thrown into a lot of this like pretty quickly. Yes. So when would you say you're like,
big blow up was? For me, it was 2020 during the COVID lockdown. I had this record, Deep End, that went very viral on TikTok. Popularity grew like super big overnight. I was already releasing music for years leading up to that. But then just every record after that started getting really, really big. All the shows got so big. I go from playing 300 person rooms to, you know, 100,000 people. So the blow up has been insane. Yours has been even faster, though.
So, and I'm all, I'm genuinely impressed with you because I always ask, like, how do you handle it so well?
Well, thanks. I feel like it's like a different context. I'll say that's, I feel like what we started to like bond over. Cause like we would sometimes text like offline, just like, Hey, like how do you deal with this? Or like, how do you know when people are near your life for the right reasons? And like, I feel like we would like offline text about that, like randomly sometimes, which is nice to have someone who like also understands that. I just recently moved to Miami, like only a year and a half ago. And, um,
You know, it's a city where there's definitely some people who are there for the right reasons. Some people are there for the wrong reasons. And, you know, try and meet friends and stuff out there. I can't tell who's actually genuine sometimes. Well, it's hard because it's like, I don't know. Sometimes it is easier to like want to be friends with someone when like,
I don't know. You're John Summit. You know what I mean? Like people I'm sure want to be your friend. So it's like it's hard to distinguish that. And then also it's like not being closed off to not meeting other people. Yes. You have to be open minded, but smart. Yeah. I am. I'm honestly not the best at that. And that's something like I try to work on in therapy. Do you ever go to therapy? I did it once and I was like, you didn't like it. Probably should.
Yeah, it's something I feel like you have to do multiple times to get used to. But I feel like that's why like all my friends that are here with us this week, like Sally's my friend from freshman year of high school. Kristen's like freshman year of college. Like I feel like I keep my circle like with those friends. It's truly amazing how close friends you are with everyone from your high school, college and stuff and like how Biden stuff you guys are, despite the craziness that's around your life and like even hanging out with you guys in Montauk.
I'm like, oh, these are some genuine ass people who know how to have a good fucking time. So that's why I love hanging out with you guys so much. Thanks. You guys too. When me and Kristen would start like coming to like your shows and stuff. And as much as it's like,
You know, like, you invite us to come with you. It's like you're playing the whole time. So it's like we're not actually, like, really talking to John. We're talking to, like, all the friends. And that's how we met, like, Laura and everyone. And everyone's so sweet. So you have a good group around you. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Yeah, that's just so weird is that I meet so many people in Walk of Life when I'm DJing. But, yeah, I literally can't talk at all. So I just, like, smile and wave. So when you're not...
DJing because I feel like this is something that people don't know about you like what do you do to like decompress or take time off it's a good question I haven't yes I haven't taken time off for uh years I mean that's why I haven't had you know any personal relationships literally since I don't know how deep I want to get on yes but uh
I mean, I mean, I've said this before, though. Like my last girlfriend was like five years ago. That's when I found out, um,
like the week i got fired from accounting is when i the same week i found out my girlfriend was cheating on me so then i broke up with her obviously left the job because they forced me out and then wait i didn't know this oh yeah i don't think i've ever publicly said that before either but well we can cut it out no yeah i mean i don't actually mind saying out loud because i talked to her again in january when i was like finishing up my album and then it was like we we
Like, said, like, oh, everything's all good, like, cool, like, no bad feelings or anything. Do you ever, like, chill? Like, you work out, right? Do you ever go to, like, yoga or anything? No, that's something I want to do this year. I feel like you would like yoga. Yeah, I really want to. I was going to want to go to Scorpios today because they have, like, the deep...
like guided meditation all that and do kind of one of those classes I think I'd benefit a lot from it yeah because you saw me yesterday I have just so much energy I'm just like bouncing around and running in circles we were laying out at the pool yesterday John was pacing around like a puppy like literally going back and forth and I was like hello like good morning like what's happening and he was like I think I just got more than four hours of sleep for like the first time ever
I'm like doing push-ups. I'm like climbing the walls. Like, I don't know. It's nice to fully, fully recharge. I think this week has done that for me a lot. Yeah, we've been like...
I mean, people are going to be like, what? You've been chilling? But I feel like we have been like half chilling, half partying. Yes. Like we did a low-key... We haven't been forcing it too much. We did a low-key rager last night. Yeah. Had some friends over. Taught Grok how to DJ. That's so wild. No, it's such like a random night, but it was so much fun. It was so much fun. I was trying to watch, like, I don't understand, like...
DJing or what goes on. I was trying to watch Laura do it last night and I was like, I can't comprehend this at all. Yeah, my goal was to teach every single person here to DJ by the end of the week, but tonight's the last night and I'm running... We've taught a few people. DJing is one of those things that's not inherently that complicated, but gets...
incredibly calm okay the deeper and deeper and deeper you get into it it's no different than learning how to play the piano or learning to play guitar like if you learn your first few chords and stuff like that you can do the initial beat matching and stuff don't want to get too nerdy on this podcast no but like I'm I'm actually interested so are you just up there
ever like letting it kind of go or is like do you do the mixes ahead of time or you like so there's like what's going on it depends what kind of DJ you are if you're more of a selector DJ from where I'm a producer DJ I of course produce the music
So then when I play a song, like I say, when I play "Where You Are", I'll just play out in full. And that's why I'm just up there, like, just singing, dancing, because I, like, produced the song beforehand. But of course I mixed it in, and I beat match it, and mix it with the next track, and make sure it's in key. And so the whole set seamlessly flows. But I think the art of DJing, especially like at Tomorrowland, for example, is that I pull it up with a playlist,
And then two minutes before my set, I went back to the green room, deleted the playlist, and just completely did it live, which is all my tracks. I just typed them all in because I went and saw the crowd and it was so international. You have to be able to read the room. It's like doing kind of like improv, you know? So, I don't know, kind of like SNL or something where they give you like an idea of what the
Yeah, you say all your own lines. I like to keep it a mix of everything and that's why I like doing the longer sets You know like in Miami. I don't know if you ever been to club space before but yes The first time I ever saw Ashton by the way was the video of her dancing at close face I was like I Know she was like this girl like took a video me dancing at space and then it said like I
I think like you like liked it or like sent it to her or something or whatever. And then she was like, huh? What's like the longest set you've done? The longest set I've done is 10 hours at space. 10 hours? Yeah. And that went to 3 p.m. the next day. So I think I got on at...
5 a.m. and then went to 3 and I was fucking cooked by the end of it. That's insane. It was one of the best 10 hours of my life. But because you're thinking so much, like there's so much going on, does it like go by faster? Oh yeah, it feels like it's like 90 minutes. Really? Because for space too, you show up with what, 2,000, 3,000 songs on my USB and then just completely free flow it. And because it's not a big club, it's like smaller and intimate, like the crowd is
is more open-minded and you can go with the flow a little bit more versus like, you know, when I play a more Vegas style set, which I've been fucking loving lately. Shout out Dave Grutman with Vegas. And who is the reason why we've met by the way. So that's like a more shorter compact set. So then I'm like just nonstop playing like the big hits. And I truly have fun doing both of those kinds because, you know, sometimes I want a two hour rager. Sometimes I want just 10 hours of...
Chilling and grooving. Yep. Wait, so have you ever like messed up? I fuck up all the time. I literally, after Tomorrowland last weekend, I tweeted, I'm like, sorry, my transition sucked ass. And then, but then all the fans are like, that was the best set I've ever seen, blah, blah, blah. So then I wrote in my notepad, like an idea for my next album title is I think, I don't know if I should say it. No, don't give it away. Okay. Yeah.
John is spilling everything over here. But there's beauty in imperfections, though. I think people like... You mean in imperfections? Yes. Yeah. Yes. Sorry, I have like a little speech stutter.
I get a little self-conscious about this, so that's why I don't do podcasts very often. Really? I don't feel like you have a stutter. I can't say my L's really well. Really? L? Like what? Say like love. Love. I just have to really think about it. Wait, I never noticed that before. Okay, yeah. I kind of just thought it was like your Chicago accent. Yeah, we were rated off to that. Yeah.
Wait, so do you say like rough or anything? What's up? Like, do you say roof rough instead of roof? Is that is that a Chicago accent? It's like a Midwestern thing because my mom's from Wisconsin. So like we say like soda or pop instead of soda. Do you say like like how do you say bagel bagel bagel?
It's normal. Yeah. I guess you don't sound like as weird as. I'm surprised that you don't have like a super New Jersey accent. People tell me that I do, but I hope that I don't really have like coffee. That's like Long Island. Oh,
Oh, okay. I think Jersey comes out of me like at some times. Okay. There's certain points where it comes out. Did you live a very like Sopranos-esque life in New Jersey? That's my only reference of New Jersey. No, not really. That's like saying your dad's in the mob. Yes, my dad's in the mob. No, not really. But there definitely was like that very like Italian lifestyle. Yeah.
At my school, like, all the guys, like, were gelling their hair. Like, the guys would get, like, spray tans. Oh, okay. Yeah. They'd have the poly D, the... Yeah, yeah. Wait, you know where you have to take you as DJs? In New Jersey. Do you have to actually take me there? Is it fun? Yeah.
I mean, you don't have to come. But it's like the infamous, like, have you seen the show, The Jersey Shore? Yes, of course. So, like, with Snooki, like, they go there in it. It's just, like, the most ratchet place, but it's the best place. It's on the Jersey Shore. You need a Jersey Shore weekend. You would love it. Okay. So, if I'm in the mindset, I'm like, I'm going to have a ratchet-ass weekend. I'm going to have the time of my life. Yeah. Okay, cool. Jersey Shore. But can you fist bump? It's more like, yeah. Fist bump. Come on.
I'm on stage the whole time. With the Jersey fist pump. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's different. There's no house music there. They are some of my best crowds. I mean, I play in Atlantic City every year, go to the Jersey Shore, and the energy is absolutely wild, so I do love it out there.
This episode is brought to you by Liquid IV. It is hot out this summer. It is actually absurdly hot out and you don't have to be an athlete like Braxton to get the sweat going working outside training. I'm sweating walking to the car, walking down the road. People are taking Zoom meetings on their porch sweating and you need to replace that sweat with hydration. I personally love Liquid IV.
They have three times the electrolytes of the leading sports drink, plus eight vitamins and nutrients for everyday wellness. Liquid IV hydrates two times faster than water alone. If any of you were listening to one of the episodes where I said I had a panic attack this summer, it's because my body was so dehydrated. It was run down, didn't feel good. The boat captain actually had to bring me out a liquid IV to put in my water because I was feeling so nauseous. That just truly shows my love for liquid IV and how much they do
They're so amazing. They have a bunch of flavors to choose from and, you know, take it to the beach with you. Make sure you're staying hydrated this summer. The bulk of the work was done over six months, but the whole concept, I mean, I've been trying to do an album for my entire career and just figure out, because an album is kind of like a huge body of work in the conceptual phase, then to the actual songwriting phase, then to the actual producing phase. So that took years. I did most of it in November in London. That's why all the vocalists on the album are all English. I also think an English accent is like...
prettiest. Yeah. You can't really hear it when they're singing, but just the tonality and stuff and the musicality of everyone I worked with out there is incredible. But yeah, it was very, very long. And I think you can maybe tell that this might be the most relaxed you probably have ever seen me. Yes. Because it's finally out. When you're making the songs, like,
What comes first? Like how does this all go? So it can either be me starting like a chord progression or something like that or a vocalist will come to me with an idea. So for Where You Are, for example, I remixed Tayla's Escape. That was with K5, Cascade, Deadmau5.
And we knew we had to do a follow-up. And then so she sent the idea of just, I want to be where you are. And then we built on top of that from that there. And produced out the whole track. You know, do all the out-choruses and all that. Everything in life starts with an idea. So, and you know, I collaborate on my records. So I'd say...
half me starting with the ideas sent to vocalists or vocalists reached out to me and staying very open-minded. Music making is a beautiful art form because there's no right or wrong way to make music. So like what do you like how do you make I don't understand though like how do you like
the beats. Yes. Like, is it just like a sound that plays? Like, I'm thinking on like GarageBand when you like add a sound and then you layer it. Oh, okay. Yeah, I mean, you just download a bunch of drum samples and you're going to just put it in Ableton and you have your kick drum. It's like house music, you know, you have your kick, your 909 hat.
Yeah, some bongo percussion. Like, you know, we were at that club yesterday. The Afro House remix, literally everything. I think Afro House is, like, taking over the world right now, which is basically just adding a bunch of percussion and giving melodic elements to the groove.
Like we're here at the club yesterday and I heard that remix of where you are. Yeah. And for some reason I was like nervous to tell the DJ. I thank you. You're like, let's tell you. We're literally out yesterday and they start playing where you are. And John's like at the table. We're all dancing. And we were like,
go like say hi and john was like no no and i was like go say hi and then i end up saying hi then he then he shows me a picture he took with me last year when i paid last year he's like so nice to see you guys blah blah blah and it was a genuine connection i'm like why the fuck was i like not saying hi so you guys are good bullies to me in the perfect way possible break you out of your shell yeah yeah because you were on jake's podcast and you said that
You'd never gotten a girl flowers? Yes. I'm wondering like how much you do now.
About girls? So some questions. Well, so it was like my grandma's birthday yesterday and I gave my grandma some flowers and then she sent me back the best message of all time. And now I'm realizing I'm like, I'm such a fucking idiot for not doing this in my life. Sometimes you need a wake up call. Yeah. I just always thought flowers were too literal though. Yeah. It's like, I think I do that. I show love and appreciation in other ways.
Okay, well, we're going to put you to the test. Yes. And we're going to see if you know any of these things. I'm actually really curious because, like, I feel like to girls these seem really simple. And you may know them or you may not. But let's see. So you just answer whatever you think this may be. Awesome. Okay. So let's start. How many ovaries do women have? Oh, like 800,000. What?
Is that like sperm cell? My sister's a scientist. I'm not. No, the answer is two. Jesus Christ. Okay, maybe this game will be better than I thought. Okay, what's a claw clip? What's a what? A claw clip. A claw clip? Oh, that's like the scrunchie thing you put on your hair? Yeah. Yes. Okay, good. What's the difference between foundation and concealer?
Concealer is like the more cover-up, right? And then foundation is like before you put it on, before you do it. Yeah, it's good. Do you get makeup videos on your For You page? Yep. Yeah. Sometimes. I don't put on makeup, but sometimes I pull up. Okay, what's a diva cup? What's a diva cup?
Uh, oh, is that like you put on your boobs? No. No. Those are like sticky bras. Or like pasties. Diva cup? A diva cup. It's not like a Stanley cup, is it? No. Okay. What is it? Give me the answer. It's like a little like cup that you like insert when you have like your period.
Yeah, I haven't had to deal with that. But that's not like as common. It's like a tampon or a pad. So like how many tampons would you guess that girls would use a day, like on average? Is it common for girls to just not be getting periods and stuff or is that a thing? I don't know. I've never really seen. He's like, next question. All right. What do you think that I'm referencing to when I say gel or acrylic? Gel or acrylic? Acrylic.
Is that acrylic? Does it have to be eyeliner or something? No. That's a good guess. But this is something girls get, and you can either get gel or acrylic. Oh, nails. Yeah. Duh.
Good job. Okay. What do you use a gua sha for? A wa sha? A gua sha. A gua sha, is that just like to wash your body? No, not like a wa sha, like a gua sha. Two words. Gua sha. Gua sha. That's a very foreign word to me. You're just making shit up. I'm not. It's a real thing. It's a tool. It's a tool. Oh, okay. Clean out your ears? What is it?
It's like a little sculpting tool that like you can make your jawline better, like your cheekbones better. It like can depuff your face. Maybe I gotta use that. Yeah, yeah. We'll get you a gua sha. Okay. What is an LBD? LBD. Why do I feel like your mind's gonna go in the complete wrong direction here?
Yeah. I give up on this one. It's the last one's dress. Long black dress. Little black dress. Little black dress. So that's what girls say like for a night out. It's like an LBD. Like go pay on your LBD. Yeah. I like that. What are wedges? Wedges. That's just like the like.
Not heels, but like thick platforms. Okay, good. You got it. What's a peplum top? Peplum top. Oh, you're already putting my female fashion. It's a top of sorts. It's not that fashionable, so it's okay that you don't know it. Oh, okay. I don't know. Like a crop top? Like a little...
It's like a top that it's like tight at the bottom and it like goes out kind of like a little cupcake at the bottom. Oh, okay. Do you know what I'm talking about or no? Not really. I think I can imagine it. What is dry shampoo? It's the shampoo you use when you're not in the shower and so when you're on the go, right? Mm-hmm. But like what do you mean by that?
It's like, I don't know, whenever I'm on set for something and I have greasy hair or whatever, and they're like, I'll put in some dry shampoo. I'm like, okay. Okay, okay, good. Honestly, that was better than I thought. Yes! You started off really terribly with the ovaries question. I was like, oh, fuck.

Or try it 10% off with code HOTMESS on your first order on kteenhair.com. That's code HOTMESS at k18hair.com. So on HOTMESS, usually we'll do a segment where girls write in questions to me and I'll answer them. A lot of them write in, I like about guys or questions with them and...
One of my friends had like a text from a guy and John was decoding it for her. And we like couldn't understand like what it meant because sometimes I feel like guys are so like cryptic or they're just so simple and girls are so cryptic. So that's like we get confused. We get confused. Unless you're like a sociopath. I think most dudes are just straight up to the point. But like I feel like as girls like we can't comprehend that. So I had girls write in some questions that they need help.
answering with a guy and I want you to try and answer them in like guy form. Like what's like their best thing that they can do in this scenario? Okay. I feel like this will be good to hear. So I feel like you have a very, like you're very to the point. Yes. What would you do if you hooked up with a guy, you had a great time, but he never texted you back. He still likes my stories though. And I want to keep hooking up. Should I text him first? Yeah. Just say, Hey, I had a great night with you the other night.
That's what I would text a girl. Why is it different in reverse? But, like, he never texted her back. So she feels, like, upset. I am the king of not texting back. You are, actually. John, I wrote John such a nice birthday text, and he didn't answer me. And I was like, John. But also, like, for my birthday, like, the one thing I wanted to do was not be on my phone. Yeah. And I'm, like, at 2100. To be honest.
To be fair, you had like over 2000 texts. Yeah, yeah. So I can't tell if it's rude if someone sends me. So if you sent me that and if I was really, really busy and I just hearted it, would you be offended by that? Or do you think just me just blowing it off entirely is better? I would rather you not answer because then at least I could have the hope that you wouldn't see it. And if you hearted it, it's just been like,
You didn't want to say anything back? I know that's not the answer you wanted. Okay, so I, no, it is the answer I wanted because then I think I was right for not responding at all then. Yeah, thank you. Yeah. Okay, so you think she should just like, what if she texts this guy again and he doesn't answer though? Oh, then she got ghosted and she just moves on. You definitely don't double text or triple text after that. Okay, okay. But you can. So you think the most you can go is like a double text? Yeah.
I don't know. If you had such a genuine connection with that person that night, if you said something like drunk, sloppy, you know, like post-bar sex, it's like, and then it wasn't meaningful. But if you're like actually went and had conversation, blah, blah, blah, I think it's worth the double text. Okay. Yeah. What do guys do that shows they like a girl? And do guys want to see girls do more or less? Hmm. Well, guys, that's a very good question. I feel like that's like,
you'll know. Yes. It's all intuition. And some people are overexpressive. Some people are very sheltered. Depends who you are as a person. I mean, that's, that's a person by person basis. And it's a culture basis too. Like when you're in Italy, like, you know, men are very overexpressive, very touching, you know, versus, um, the men in Europe are crazy. Yeah. Yeah. They're just straight into the point, you know what I mean? And, um, but that just like how,
how the culture is and stuff, and then you kind of have to just be straightened to the point back. Be like, no. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm not a super direct person myself. Okay. Why do men think it's better to ghost the girl that they're talking to instead of just saying, like, that they want to see other people? Because they're pussies. So do you not ghost people? No, I really don't. I wonder... I probably did my...
Early 20s, I'm sure I did. But now it's... No, there's no reason to. Okay. What are some things that girls do that are like turn-offs or icks? Or like what should girls stop doing? Just...
Oh, no. This is so hard for me to say. What should girls stop doing? No, but like a turn off. A big turn off is just being bitchy, I think. Okay. And just being bitchy for the... But you can be bitchy for the right reasons. Like if someone's like treating you wrong or being a dick and being a bitch. But if you're just like...
if some guy's just like, oh, how are you doing? You're like, because you're not attracted to them or whatever. It's like, the least you can just do is like, hi. Yeah. You seem to be bitchy with a purpose. Yes. Yeah, you know, you know when to turn your bitch on. Thanks. But there's nothing like a turn off, like, I don't know, like bad breath or like something. Oh,
I mean, bad breath. Yeah, that's number one. I'm very keen to smell. Like, do you have, like, a weird thing that it's, like, if a girl does that, it's, like, you just, like, I don't know. Like, do you ever hear when girls say, like, they get the ick? Yes. Like... I get the ick when people try too hard. Yeah. Not in terms of work, obviously. I mean, like...
I mean, you're one of, like, hardest-working people. Like, all people who sound like themselves, they're the hardest-working people. It's not trying hard in that accent, but trying too hard to, like, look a certain way, be a certain way, and not be themselves. So I guess my biggest ick is when someone's not acting like themselves. Yeah, I think that's what you're trying to say there. It's like they're, like...
Pretending to be someone or something that they're not to try and be, like, impressive. Yes, exactly. And how about when, like, you're DJing? And it's, like, girls ever, like... I feel like I've seen you post stuff about this, that girls will, like, accidentally, like, touch things or spill things, like, on the decks. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's why I don't try to have them not too close to me too much anymore. I need my personal space. But, I mean, yeah, you know, the girls that I show, some of them get pretty crazy. And then...
you know, people are definitely a few drinks and some other things deep. So things can get kind of wild, but, uh, I'm so used to it at this point that I find, I genuinely find it entertaining. Like I said, on a podcast like a year ago, like I can't stand when girls touch the ducks. But now when it happens, I'm like, it's just genuinely hilarious. Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. So no hard feelings now? No hard feelings now, yeah. Okay. Have you ever heard someone be, like, crazy? Like, actually, like, trying to, like, attack you? And they had to be, like, removed? Yeah, yeah. That's why we got a couple security guards now. Yeah. How do...
I feel like girls always ask like how did girls get in the DJ booth? Not yours, but just like in general like what? It's it's always like friends of friends Girls getting a DJ booth You know, it's it's used. It's mostly I guess I've been touring for so long now that I have so many friends with so many walks of life. Yeah, I
I mean, you went to... I feel like it's like a know-somebody situation. Yes, yeah, yeah. Like, you went to Navy Yard with me and had some girlfriends with me and met them in so many different...
walks and now like we're all friends and i just love bringing extra people together and making friends become friends and blah blah so it's all pretty organic it's not like there's no like raffle or whatever um you can definitely advice to girls though is that you can finagle your way up there if you really want to yeah what does it mean if my boyfriend doesn't open up to me about things that happen to him in his personal life but he combines in his friends instead
Ooh, I really don't like that. Yeah. I was going to say, I don't think that's good. I hope that's what you were going to say. There are some things that like could be super, super personal that maybe just your mom or dad or something you're super, but, um, that those things are very rare. Um,
I don't understand why you would hide from the other person. Yeah. I feel like that's like a red flag. Whoever wrote that in wishing you luck. I have just come out of a long-term relationship and feel ready to start dating again. I really don't like dating apps or meeting online. What advice do you have for putting yourself out there slash meeting guys in real life?
You got to literally just put yourself out there. It's a little tougher for a girl than a guy from my perspective. I mean, I've been out there for years now just DJing, touring the whole world. I've been to almost every single place imaginable to play at now. I mean, this is my third year in a row playing Mykonos, which is why I love it here so much. But, yeah, you just got to go out and be open-minded and not –
And sometimes don't worry if there's no connection. Like you don't have to have mutual friends. Yeah. Like some people obsess over the fact that you need to have mutual friends and stuff like that, too. But I think it's genuinely fascinating being someone that you can't even find a connection with. But like, how do you like go up to a guy? Like, what do you first say? Oh, you know what I mean?
well for me i'm always in environments where you're kind of dancing like you have like a day club or something like that and you just like if you just have good vibes and get energy people get like attracted that like i'm a big energy person yeah i guess if you're just like literally just like smiling and entertaining someone's gonna be like literally come up to you and be like hey like love your vibes yeah and you could but a guy can say that to you you can say that to a guy yeah like the worker yesterday went up to me he's like i've been following you on social media for the last couple years he's like he's like i've just
I've been so obsessed and loving your vibes and energy. And I thought, I'm like, man, that was a really, really fucking nice thing to say. And he was just saying this in a friendly way. Not like, I guess that's, that's true. I guess I've never thought about that before. Cause I've always been worried about, like, I think it's hard to like come up with something to like, say like once you're like, Hey or something like, I don't, I am always like, let's get a drink at the bar. Yeah. That's my first thing. Especially if you're uncomfortable. Um,
That's rule number one. Get a drink. Let's get a drink. Yeah. It just kind of breaks down the barrier a little bit, you know? Yeah. I like the energy, like, though. Yeah, yeah. I think that's a good one. Mm-hmm. Because I feel like sometimes if you're scared, you can give off, like, bitchy energy. Mm-hmm. And I know I do that a lot. Mm-hmm.
so that's that's some good advice you have pretty good advice this is like you're you're doing good okay thank you thank you the girls are gonna benefit from this I got things to share I'm very stupid at some things but I'm
decently good at other things he doesn't know how many ovaries girls have nope but i was so off with that no you're screwed with that that's gonna get clipped a thousand percent
All right. Well, we have to leave in 10 minutes. So I have to like not put on sweatpants because we're going out tonight. We got to get ready in 10 minutes. In Mykonos. Easy. Last night here. Yeah. But thanks for coming on the podcast. Yes. And thanks for coming here. This has been such a fucking incredible week. Thanks for having us. Yes, of course. Of course. This is literally, I don't even know how to explain to you guys like where we are right now, but it's actually the most insane place I've ever seen in my life. Yeah.
And yeah, we're going to go out and have a fun night. Yeah. Thanks, John, for coming on. All right, let's get lit.
This episode is brought to you by HydroJug. One of the hottest things ever is when someone knows how to take care of themselves. And here's the thing, Daddy Gang, if I see someone with a HydroJug traveler, I know they know how to take care of themselves. I'm not going to tell them how to take care of themselves.
I personally in the past couple of years have been like, why am I not taking better care of myself? AKA, why am I not hydrating better? And it has been a mission of mine over the past couple of years to just constantly stay hydrated. It helps your skin. It helps your mood. It just helps all around every aspect of your life. But the best part about these bottles is the leak-proof design. You can run around with it, toss it in your bag without worrying about spills.
perfect for any final summer adventures. I'm going to be real. My least favorite thing is if I have a random water bottle that just completely ruins every bag. I'm like, oh my gosh, I guess I didn't fully close it. Not with HydroJug. This summer, I'm spending a lot of time in Europe for work and it has been so hot. It is currently 90 degrees where I'm at and I don't have to think about saying hydrated. HydroJug Traveler helps me.
Daddy gang, the Hydro Jug Traveler is not just a great way to stay hydrated. It's pretty cute too. It's sleek and comes in all different colors and designs for all of the fashion girlies. You can get accessories or a travel sleeve for it or leave it plain or dress it up with some stickers. There are so many different ways to make it yours. Obviously, I'm drawn to pinks,
because call her daddy at all times, always. But make it your own. You got this. Staying hydrated has never been easier or looked so good. The Hydro Jug Traveler is a real game changer.
