On today’s episode of The MeidasTouch Podcast, we dig into the vast divide forming across the globe as the battle between democracy and autocracy reaches a boiling point not seen since the last World War. Italy has elected as Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the hard-right Brothers of Italy, a party which is the most direct descendant of Mussolini’s fascist party. Protests in Iran have erupted after the alleged killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Russia’s mobilization against Ukraine has gotten off to a humiliating start as citizens of military age flee the country. Meanwhile, back in the United States, the Republicans have pitched their ‘Commitment For Cruelty’ plan, which is thin on policy, but full of ways they plan to strip back Americans’ rights. Donald Trump held another deranged, yet sparsely-attended rally. The Texas Tribune festival featured a range of speakers including Liz Cheney, Pete Buttegieg, Gavin Newsom. Oh, and Ted Cruz got booed and heckled, too. The stark contrast between democratic and autocratic forces have never been greater, and we break it all down on today’s episode!
