She wanted to ensure no other student felt the way she did, feeling small and unsupported in math classes, and to show students that they can succeed if they believe in themselves.
The summer camp was successful but revealed the unsustainability of her approach. This led her to pivot towards professional development services, making her business more scalable and impactful.
The COVID-19 pandemic provided her with the opportunity to sit back and redesign her company, focusing on professional development while still offering STEAM services.
She launched the professional development services in January 2021, securing her first district-wide contract with Essex County Votek schools.
She implemented a rigorous process including model lessons, practice time, dress rehearsals, feedback sessions (glows and grows), and recording sessions to ensure quality and consistency.
She focused on building systematic processes and ensuring legal compliance. She also instituted quarterly clarity breaks to reflect and plan for the business's future.
She faced cash flow issues due to government contract payment cycles. To address this, she changed how consultants were paid (from immediate to net 30) and sought personal and family loans during tight periods.
She advises starting small and following the breadcrumbs, being open to help, and once committed, thinking long-term about systems, legal protections, and employee benefits to ensure sustainability.
