House believed Washington wasn't quite good enough yet and didn't have the necessary players to compete at that level. He also mentioned that all of Washington's losses were to playoff teams from the previous year and that they were competitive in their toughest games, which were all one-score games.
House thought Washington had a good chance to make the playoffs, expecting them to need to win three more games. He outlined a favorable schedule that included home games against Dallas and Tennessee, a bye week, and other winnable games, suggesting they could reach 10 wins and secure a playoff spot.
House felt that something was missing with the Eagles and they hadn't won him over as the second team in the NFC yet. He mentioned that their kicker missed two field goals and a PAT, which could have put them in the 30s, but overall, he was not fully convinced of their status as a top team.
Tice was excited about Drake Maye's explosive playability and his ability to make plays even with a bad supporting cast. He noted Maye's big arm, looseness as an athlete, and competitiveness, comparing him to John Elway. Tice also appreciated Maye's mental side, including his awareness and self-awareness, which he believed were encouraging signs for a franchise quarterback.
Tice's five favorite things were: 1) Telling the Cowboys 'I told you so' for their offseason decisions; 2) Surprising defenses that have improved, like the Eagles, Chargers, and Broncos; 3) AFC juggernaut quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Herbert; 4) The Arizona Cardinals, who he felt were locked in and playing well; and 5) The running back renaissance, with teams investing in running backs and seeing dividends from first-round picks and free agent additions.
They liked the Broncos because they believed the Falcons were overrated and the Broncos' defense was significantly better, ranking highly in several key metrics. They thought the Broncos could exploit the Falcons' weaknesses and potentially beat them by more than a field goal.
They bet on the Colts because they felt the Jets were downtrodden and their season was over, especially with Aaron Rodgers' struggles. They believed the Colts, coming off a bye week and with a healthier team, could exploit the Jets' weaknesses and potentially win outright.
They thought the Chargers were a good bet because they believed the line was off, with the Chargers being undervalued. They felt the Chargers were a complete, well-coached team that could run and throw effectively, while the Bengals were one-dimensional and had a poor defense. They also liked the Chargers' defense and thought they could win the game outright.
