Amanda Doyle: I started taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication to cope with long-term anxiety and anger. While the medication has helped me feel better, I'm still concerned that it might cause me to ignore things in my life that need to be changed. I realized that for the past few years I've been using alcohol to numb myself, and after quitting drinking, I had to face all the negative emotions. Abby Wambach: The podcast has given me a new sense of purpose, similar to the sense of purpose I had when I played soccer. Now, people recognize me more for my podcast than for my soccer career, which makes me very satisfied. In addition, by sharing my gender identity issues in public restrooms in the podcast and resonating with the audience, I overcame the anxiety that came with it. Glennon Doyle: I had a relapse of bulimia during the holidays, and after that, I started my recovery journey again through yoga and attending recovery meetings. I realized that 'showing up' doesn't mean having to be perfect, even if you only do a little bit, it's still progress. In addition, my friends and I did a 'post-mortem' together, reflecting on our words and actions in a timely manner, which helped us enhance our friendship and avoid unnecessary anxiety and distress.
