I'm Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Thursday, November 14th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Polymarket founder Shane Coplin is speaking out after FBI agents raided his New York City apartment and seized his electronics. Daily Wire Senior Editor Cabot Phillips has more.
The raid, which reportedly followed concerns over Americans illegally gambling on the platform, has raised questions about political motives. Copland condemned the raid as, quote, obvious political retribution by the outgoing Biden administration after Polymarket correctly called the presidential race for Trump.
Critics, including figures from the crypto industry, suggest it could be a targeted effort against companies perceived as political opponents. Copland, whose firm is backed by conservative investor Peter Thiel, urged Democrats to reconsider their approach to business and startups after their electoral setbacks. Here he is discussing how his platform accurately predicted the outcome of the election long before most media outlets.
It was a good two, three hours ahead of media, so much so that people who were watching Legacy Media, you know, hours later were like, oh, wow, you know, Polymerkin has Kamala so low. We were in the office and we were looking at the odds on Polymerkin and it looked like a done deal. And if you were just watching TV, you would think it's neck and neck.
Florida Representative Matt Gaetz has resigned from Congress effective immediately. Daily Wire deputy managing editor Tim Rice has the latest. The congressman's decision comes after President-elect Donald Trump tapped Gaetz to be his attorney general. House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed the resignation, which reportedly came as a surprise to Republican leadership. Johnson explained that under Florida law, a special election to fill Gaetz's seat will be held within eight weeks, potentially early in the new year when the new Congress is sworn in.
Johnson thanked Gates for his swift decision, helping to streamline the process of filling the vacancy. Meanwhile, many in Congress, including Republicans, are questioning his confirmability. Here's Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville responding. You're finding all the swamp creatures coming out right now. Everybody's got an opinion up here. You are not the
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is rushing military aid to Ukraine before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
In Brussels, Blinken met with European officials to strategize on supporting Ukraine in 2025 or negotiating from strength. The Biden administration is pushing NATO allies to increase aid amid growing concerns in Europe that some territorial concessions may be needed in peace talks with Russia. Blinken said the following in regards to U.S. support of Ukraine. The United States continues to step up.
We've obligated just recently and pushed out the door another $8 billion in security assistance for Ukraine. That was in September. Another almost half a billion dollars just a few weeks ago. And President Biden is committed to making sure that every dollar we have at our disposal will be pushed out the door between now and January 20th.
And in news that is not satire, the left-wing satirical website The Onion has purchased Alex Jones' right-wing Infowars website. The deal came after a court-ordered auction of Jones' major assets after he lost a defamation lawsuit, which was brought by families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
The court slapped a staggering $1.5 billion penalty on Jones after ruling that he had spread false claims about the families of the tragic 2012 mass shooting. In the deal, The Onion has acquired InfoWars' website along with its social media accounts and customers' lists.
They said they're shutting us down even without a court order. This morning, the Connecticut Democrats with the Onion newspaper bought us. They asked, did they outbid? They said, well, it was competitive. So they changed all the bidding rules, made it secret two days ago. I had a bad feeling. I told you that. And just like they tried to shut us down back in late May without a court order, they're supposed to have a court order. There's going to be injunctions filed. I'm about to go live out of Harrison's American Journal studio. I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm going to be here until they come in there and turn the lights off.
