Hey everyone, so I'm super excited today because I'm so excited to be answering your questions. And that's really what this entire podcast was created for. We just wanted to go episode by episode and through all the guest stars and directors and writers to help answer all of the big burning new girl questions. That's what led us to create the podcast.

because we were constantly being asked all the questions and a lot of the times we didn't have the answers so we'd go seek that you know wanted to go seek them out but then how do we share them widely and we came up with this idea for a podcast so this is our first ever answer the fans questions episode

I used to be a VJ on Much Music and, you know, we'd have like a whole hour of just throwing to videos or whatever. And I would always push to at least once a week have one where people could call in or

Or they would email in live and ask questions or have things read on air. And it was always my favorite thing. That feeling of just being connected and having it being interactive, it's...

My jam, you guys. So thank you for all the great questions that have been sent in. And if you are listening and have questions or rewatching the show and have questions, please, please, please email your questions to us at welcometoourshowpodcast at gmail.com. And you can also just send in like a voice note of your question and then we can play your question on air so everybody can hear your beautiful voice. All right, let's dive in.

Cassidy Holmes asked, as we know, Reagan and Nick eventually broke up. I was wondering which of the main characters exes would you guys set up with Reagan? Thank you. And lots of love. Well, Cassidy, I think the answer to that question is very simple. And it's not exactly from the pool of people that you've asked me to pick from, from one of the main characters exes. It's one of the main characters. I think that

I would have Reagan take another spin around the block with one of her exes. Cece. I think that would have been fun. Cece and Reagan rekindled their flame. Just a thought. If you could play any other character on the show, who would you want to play and why? This is from Madeline Pope. If I could play any character on this show, I feel like...

Well, I have two that I would have liked to play. One, I think I would have liked to play Nick Miller. He got to walk around, be grumpy, always have a beer in his hand, and was always sitting down. Dream job. Dream character. Loved it. Or Ferguson. Why not? This is a make-believe scenario. I'd be a cat.

I love cats. Everybody knows me and knows I love cats. Sure. In this make-believe scenario, I would like to be a cat and a TV cat. Get paid to be a cat. Sounds great. And in this make-believe scenario, because Lamorne is actually allergic to cats, so he couldn't really handle cat actor Ferguson.

My character, Cece, always had to, well, no, me. Cece in the scene, me as Hannah, would always have to, like, hold Ferguson in the scene because Lamorne actually couldn't. So now we're getting in deep here, guys. I, as Cece, would then be holding myself as Ferguson. What do you think of that?

Kate asked a question, as I just watched the intro for the millionth time while still smiling and singing the tune in my head, hey girl, I was one, well, it's not hey girl, it's hey, right? Not hey girl.

I was wondering what the story is behind the opening. Everyone's facial expressions in the intro makes me giggle. I would love to hear you guys tell a story on the podcast about how the intro came to be, any memories from filming it, etc. You guys are awesome and I'm loving listening to the podcast every week. Oh, thank you. While I drive around for work all day, it really brings me joy and makes my Monday much better. Kate. Well, that's nice, Kate. Here's the thing.

I can't help you with that answer because I'm not in the opening. I wasn't in the opening. And I also wonder what it was like. It's really funny. We've never really talked about it. I've never asked about it. I have the same question.

Would any of you guys be friends with the characters you played if they were people you met in real life? That's from Sam Hayes. Honestly, I think all of the main characters I for sure would be friends with in real life. Love Jess. Love Schmidt. Love Nick. Love Coach. They're all fun, goofy, weird, big-hearted, silly people. I could kick it with all of them. I'd be friends with all of them. That's what I'm saying.

to our show. Ooh, we have a question from Tia in Belgium. I'm a huge fan of yours, the show and the podcast. I was wondering if there were any celebrities you wished you got to work with on the show besides all the cool guest stars who are already on. Keep up the good work. Huh. I mean, we had Taylor Swift. We had Prince.

Parker Posey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner. I mean, the list is so long. Taryn Killam. I mean, the list just keeps going. The hits keep coming. Um,

I don't, I was always surreal who would show up and guest star on the show. It always blew my mind. I always felt so overwhelmed and also slash confused. Like, why are you here? And that was just really based on the incredible relationships that

A lot of the cast had, and Liz Merriweather and Jake Kasdan and Bert Baer and Dave Finkel, and they just had incredible relationships and people wanted to be on the show. And then a lot of people were just actually fans of the show, which was also so confusing and wonderful and strange. So, no, I can't think of anybody else. I feel like so many of the actors that I adored...

showed up and sat in a trailer next to me and I tried not to stare. Sarah asked, I was wondering if you guys know who curated the decor on set in the loft. And if you know of any story behind the blue glass grapes, my friend and I are huge New Girl fans and we both found duplicates of those glass grapes to keep in our living room as a nod to the show. So I was just wondering, thanks. I remember because at the end of the series, they kind of let everybody go and like pick one or two things and

And I can't remember who got the blue grapes, but I do know that they were referred to as blue balls. I do know everyone's like, who's getting the blue balls? Who's getting blue balls? Also, why do we have blue balls as part of set decor? What does that say about our show? So I remember that's what they were referred to as.

But I don't know who took them. But I remember there was a couple people who wanted them. A lot of people wanted blue balls on our set. If Jess didn't end up with Nick, who would be the best partner for her? From Heidi. Huh. I mean, Dr. Sam was pretty swell, right? He was pretty great. David Walton's character. I feel like that was a good fit. I don't know. That's hard to say because, man, Nick and Jess felt just so fated. It's hard to...

you know, yourself from that and think there's like a sliding doors thing where she lives a whole other life with someone else. I don't know. Nadia? Maybe it gets real weird if we're going to go into an alternate universe for Jess. Maybe she spends the rest of her days falling madly in love with Nadia, the Russian model. Let's just get weird with it. Lauren asks, do you think Cece ever spoke to Chevrang again? No.

I mean, I feel like Elaine, a.k.a. Taylor Swift, just took off running with her man. I don't know if she could find Shivering to talk to him again. Though in real life, the incredible Satya Baba, who played Shivering, is...

Someone I adore so deeply and we connected and bonded and formed such a real wonderful friendship on that set that then we did a movie together called Miss Indie America that I produced and he was in and we had a scene together in that which is really funny. So if you want to see Cece and Shivrang,

Hannah and Satya reunite. Go watch Miss Indie America. And you'll see us together in a very weird scene where I talk about a very intense car crash at a beauty pageant. There you go. What was the most difficult stunt you had to pull off while filming New Girl from Ryan? Stunt?

I don't know what the most difficult stunt was. I didn't really have a lot of stunts. I feel like the episode at the car show where Zoe actually had to go around and around, but her incredible stunt double was doing a lot of that work too. But Zoe had to do, I think, a weird piece of it with her heel stuck in.

I think she had to do part of that. Maybe that was all her stunt double. But I remember being on set that day and it did not look easy. We had a lot of fun stunts on our show, but we had an incredible stunt team and stunt coordinator and they pulled off some awesome, awesome stuff. So I feel like, well, I definitely got spared lots of it.

You all had amazing outfits during your time on the show. Do you have a favorite costume? That's from Azalea. Ooh. Deborah McGuire was the head of our wardrobe department. She is phenomenal and a living legend. Do I have a favorite costume? You know, this is so cheesy because there's a lot of big fun ones, like the big bird costume that I talked about in the first episode of this podcast that nobody saw. Yeah.

because it ended up on the cutting room floor. The wedding outfit, the Chevrang wedding that we did where I got to go down to Artesia with Debra McGuire and we found these incredible Indian wedding outfits. That was incredible and fun. But the one I remember the most, because it was my first ever fitting for New Girl, for the pilot,

was the pair of blue overalls. And it was very surreal at the end of the series to put them back on. I just remember them. Maya asks, you guys ate a lot on the show. Were the meals always practical? What was the best meal you ate in character? Huh? Honestly, don't remember.

I honestly don't remember. Maybe because Cece didn't actually eat a ton on that show. I didn't have a lot of eating scenes. I know we did a lot of big Thanksgiving episodes where we had to sit around a table full of food and we never ate that food. And we would sit there for like 10 hours around a huge table of food.

But it wasn't meant for eating. There were sometimes things on our plates that we could pick at. But for continuity, I always found it a little difficult to keep track when you're filming those huge scenes. So I think we kind of just pushed our food around a little bit.

That wraps up our first ever episode of Answer the Fan Questions for a new girl. Thank you for all your great questions. Please, please send us more. I can't wait to do another one of these with Zoe and Lamorne. Send your questions, either write them out or send a voice note so that we can play them here on air to welcometoourshowpodcast at gmail.com. No question is off limits. Ask away.
