The foster parents, Louis Ross and Jennifer Campbell, became suspects due to inconsistencies in their story, Louis's failed polygraph test, and a concerning text message from Louis to Jennifer threatening to leave Hassani at a subway station.
Louis Ross failed a polygraph test, and police found a latex glove in his car, which he claimed was being played with by his other foster child. Additionally, a text message from Louis to Jennifer threatening to abandon Hassani at a subway station was discovered.
Tianna's family was told by her mother, Trisha Kirchner, that she had died of various causes over the years, including chickenpox and drowning. These conflicting stories led to confusion and delayed the reporting of her disappearance.
CPS had been looking for Tianna for several years but faced challenges due to Trisha Kirchner's refusal to cooperate and provide accurate information. CPS eventually contacted law enforcement when they could not locate her.
Despite being arrested on suspicion of murder, Louis Ross and Jennifer Campbell were released without charges due to insufficient evidence. The case remains unsolved, and Hassani's body has never been found.
The cause of Tianna's death has never been officially released. Her body was found in a plastic tub filled with concrete under a relative's trailer, but the details of her death remain undisclosed.
The community of Oakland rallied together to search for Hassani, with volunteers and organizations like San Jose Search and Rescue assisting in the efforts. However, despite extensive searches, no trace of Hassani was found.
Trisha Kirchner and Jordan asked a relative to move a plastic bin containing Tianna's body, which they had placed under a relative's trailer to hide the smell of decomposition. The relative was warned not to open the bin.
