Luigi Mangione is the 26-year-old man arrested and charged with the murder of Brian Thompson. He faces second-degree murder and gun possession charges in New York, as well as felony gun possession and lying to police about his identity in Pennsylvania.
Luigi Mangione allegedly targeted Thompson due to his anger towards the health insurance industry, specifically UnitedHealthcare. A handwritten manifesto found criticized the industry and referred to Thompson as a 'parasite who had it coming.'
Mangione comes from a well-to-do family in Baltimore and attended the University of Pennsylvania, earning both a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science. He reportedly suffered from chronic back pain and had difficulty maintaining relationships due to his condition.
