And not just expanding to the gentiles, but there is a mission to the gentiles. And not only that, but they are welcomed. And we can prevent the holy spirit.

I mean, not not going to stop the holy spirit. And why prevent them from being baptize since been given the holiday spirit, just like we've given the holy spirit, is a big deal. Peter, if you ever wonder, why do we not observe the coal laws of the altech ment? Yeah, we went through the all those laws. Why do we not do those?

Why do we not deserve those? And h, he does, he tells them, and he preaches the gospels of jesus Christ to them, as he's still speaking, the holy spirit comes upon them, and they begin speaking in tongues and extorting god. And so they get baptize in its incredible just bananas, what what is happening to actually possible, what god is doing to these ordinary human beings.

And he keeps showing his boundless love is just banana B A N A N A S IT is bananas. And what a gift. Now that's forward to first screen tints. So little background, we're going to hear about same polls, admission to current, I think, and actually postles chapter eighteen. And so that is coming up for a couple of days. But the context for that is paul had been preaching in athens, and he went to the erotics, or because called mars hill, and basically had a really great sermon.

And when he started talking about the resurrection of jesus from the dead, folks were like, um interesting we'll come back later and maybe a couple people became Christians but not really and so paul resolved he leaves athons at one point and he goes to currently and the kind of the understanding here is that paul living athens, he made all these incredible arguments, these really great arguments, using greek wisdom and using the roman logic and what not. IT was great, but no conversions. So he says, when I came to you in current, I resolved to know nothing except jesus Christ and him crucified.

And so I didn't come when wisdom, but I can the power of god. So one of the assumptions there is that saying, paul didn't rely upon his own know oration skills. He didn't rely upon his being able to convince people by his words or by his wisdom, but simply by allowing god's power to work through him, which I would understand that, and I could be wrong, but I would understand that to be mighty works, right miracles, that same paul would have allowed, or god would have used same poll to bring about mighty works.

That would convince people that paul was correct when he was talked about jesus being the sun of god, jesus being crucified and risen from the dead, that he was telling the truth. My guess is that when he came among them, he did come among them without human, is dom. But IT came among them with the power of god, not just boldly speaking, but actually, you know, walking in that power of god and having mighty works being done through him.

I can't remember if there are evidence to that interpretation, but IT seems to make sense to me. Now the grant in church gets established, and now polis left, and everything is going to fAllen apart. Not everything fAllen apart, but a lot of things have fAllen apart.

And the first thing that polo has, I mean, he gets, what, nine verses in, and he begins in in first ten, chapter one he's saying, okay, we I got to cut a crack in some schools, guys, because you are not, what are you doing? And there's detention in the church. And he says, some people are saying, i've belonged to, I belong to a place.

I belonged to caf. Now it's C, E, P, H, A, S. So some people say, seva, I looked up a pronunciation thing one time years ago, because I don't like Steve.

Stevia sounds stupid. sorry. Just, I just don't like IT.

But kf, a sounds actually more close to what you be called in hebrew or armah in those mida training languages. And actually there is an argument. The principle is cava.

So there we go. So that also Better the way k means, Peter. So that's how you'd say rock in that language, back to our story. So there's the sense in the church I begged to police, I begged to police.

I begged to cava never go or I belonged to Christ and almost immediately here in chapter one verse ten saying, paul he he's talking about the essentials in the church and he sounds like he's ready to crack some schools. I mean, he is saying that, okay, at one point you are all united. You are all united in jesus cries.

And then what happens is of a sub now of you are saying, well, you're in teams now. So some are team Paula somewhere. Our team Apollo was a well known orator.

He was, he was a Christian who preached really incredibly well, apparently. So paul, he says he doesn't preach really well in person. He right really well, but doesn't preach really well on person.

A police though, man, that guy, he knew how to turn a phrase. Or I belong to cafe A, I know is C E P H A S, which is, see us, right? But caf, I, I think, is the one acceptable of the name of Peter.

Or I begged to cry. So you have these four factions, maybe three factions, and one group of people say, no, no, we begged the jesus, but you could see how the the appeal would be. I belong to park yeah he he's the one to founded our community or I belong to to polis.

He's the one who has the incredible words you know, is a great speak, or I want to cava, right? Because he is the prints of the apostles les of gob course. But in all those things, policing those divisions, those teams, those factions, they're working against the unity of the churches.

Not only that, but they are violating the very reason why you came to know jesus in the first place, because you came to know jesus not through wisdom. Member, when paul went to athons, he preached wisdom, and he was really wise head, really, really smart. But when he came to the people in current, he resolved to know nothing but jesus Christ and him crucified.

They were not convinced by polls, words. They were convinced by the power of the cross. And he just reminding them, have you forgotten this? Have you forgotten that the reason why you came in the first place to profess faith in jesus is Christ was because you encountered jesus in his cross?

This is the temptation for every single one of us. We sometimes we forget the cross. We forget jesus. There are sometimes we forget the fact that she's and is cross go hand in hand.

And we forget, we think that, you know, what's this press of that preter? It's this teaching of that teaching. It's it's this way of singing a song or or praising god or that way.

And we realize they know if I forget, if I forget jesus Christ and him crucified, i'm going to miss the point and so in chapter two, he says, so clearly, when I came to your brothers and I did not come for claiming to you the testimony of garden lofty words or wisdom, for I decided to know nothing among you accept jesus Christ and him crucified and so he goes on my speech of my message were not implausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your faith might not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of that. That's where the reason I I believe that when paul went to corn, as always, athens, he just, he knew, I can't make any miracles on my own. I need the power of god working through me so humbly.

Paul allowed the lord god to work mighty work through him. And the people saw those and came to know the truth of jesus Christ crucified and the power of god. Is that makes sense?

Tomorrow we're going to talk about a little bit more in that deception like that kind of division, those factions, teams in the currency and church. But also there are a lot of people who are not living. Currents was a pretty bad place.

And those people in currents, that's where they chose to live before they became Christian. And so they have a lot of bad habits, a lot of bad influences in their lives. And some of them are sliding back to those bad habits.

And so as paul keeps writing to the Quentin's, he's going to have to keep calling them back to the heart of the gospel, calling them back to the heart of jesus and calling them back to the church. And so that's we're going to get in the next couple days. But here we are, did on day three thirty one, which has been a gift.
