episode. Bill Clinton accidentally torches Kamala Harris on the campaign trail. One in five Zoomers don't hate Hitler. And if that weren't enough, Christopher Columbus might have been a Jew. I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show.
Welcome back to the show. So much Columbus news going on. It's amazing when a guy can break news 530 years after his most famous event, but Christopher Columbus has done that. And Kamala's attacking Columbus, and Pope Leo XIII is defending Columbus, and Columbus might have been a Jew. The Italians claim Columbus, but now the Spaniards are claiming Columbus. We're going to talk about
Who was Christopher Columbus and what does he mean for us? There's so much more to say. First, though, text Knowles to 989898. We have a big election coming up. There's a lot at stake. Regardless of who is sitting in the White House, though, or in Congress, the fuse on the economy has already been lit.
Four years of a conservative presidency will not be enough to turn the tide on our $35 trillion national debt. If the libs win, it's like throwing gas on a dumpster fire. You do not have much control over the election's outcome, but you can protect your savings by diversifying now into gold.
From our friends at Birch Gold. That's right. For millennia, gold has stood firm in the face of greedy governments, economic upheavals, and global strife. It can protect you now. Birch Gold will help you convert an IRA or 401k into an IRA in physical gold. Best news, it doesn't cost you a penny out of pocket. Think about this. In the past four years, the buying power of the U.S. dollar has declined. The price of gold has increased 40%. Coincidence? I think not.

Bill Clinton has hit the campaign trail, and he is supposed to be defending Kamala Harris. He's wearing the Harris Walls camo hat. This is the special merch they had made up to try to appeal to men. It hasn't worked very well, but that's why they're pushing that hat right now. You will remember last week when...
Joe Biden hit the trail for Kamala Harris and undermined her. He was asked specifically about the hurricane in Florida and why Governor DeSantis wasn't picking up the phone and talking to Kamala. And there was this whole media narrative that DeSantis was politicizing the hurricane and really Kamala should step in. And Biden undercut all of that and said, what are you talking about? The governor's doing a great job and he's got my personal phone number and who needs Kamala? She has no role in this hurricane. So that was...
That was the first hit. Then they drag out the other former Democrat president, the very intelligent explainer in chief, Bill Clinton. And that was probably an even worse mistake because Bill Clinton actually does understand public policy pretty well. And so he was asked why the immigration crisis is so terrible under Kamala Harris as the border czar and Joe Biden as the president.
And he gave the real answer. You had a case in Georgia not very long ago, didn't you? They made an ad about a young woman who'd been killed by an immigrant. Yeah, well, if they'd all been properly vetted, that probably wouldn't have happened. Yeah, that's probably true, huh?
If the immigrants had been properly vetted, then you wouldn't have all the crimes that the immigrants are committing. But who was supposed to do the vetting? Well, it was Alejandro Mayorkas, the Biden-Harris DHS secretary, and it was Kamala Harris who was in charge of the border crisis. So they weren't properly vetted. That was a failure of this administration. And so people have not just had minor crimes committed against them. People have been killed, American citizens. Now,
Bill Clinton's too smart to have fallen simply into that gaffe. So there had to be more context. That was the clip that was going viral. But OK, here's the broader context, which I think Obama thought was good for the Democrats, but I think actually makes the Democrats look even worse. But if they all properly vetted and that doesn't happen and America is not having enough babies to keep our populations up.
So we need immigrants that have been vetted to do work. There wouldn't be a problem. Okay, so he's saying, look,
Had they been properly vetted, then these immigrants probably wouldn't have killed people. But we need the immigrants, and we need the immigrants because Americans aren't having babies. So because we aren't having babies, we need to fill up that population that we're not producing ourselves with foreigners in order to keep our GDP up and keep our economy afloat. Okay, so in other words, what Bill Clinton is saying is that Democrat policies are
are directly responsible for the immigration crisis because the Democrat policies, notably under Kamala Harris, have opened up the border and let all sorts of unvetted migrants in who were brought across the border by criminal cartels, which control the whole border. So that's the immediate cause of the migrant crisis. But Democrat policies are also indirectly, more distantly responsible for the migrant crisis because...
The Democrat policies are a major driver of why we don't have babies in this country. Why don't we have babies anymore? That's true. We haven't had babies at a replacement rate since the 1970s. Why? There are all sorts of factors that play into it. But if we're just looking policy by policy, abortion, abortion is one reason why you don't get babies.
Contraception. The Libs pushing for contraception everywhere. Two Supreme Court cases to create a constitutional right to condoms.
Those, which as far as I can tell, I'm no constitutional lawyer. I didn't read the right to condoms in the Constitution, but those licenses were granted successively. First, in a case that granted married couples the ability to use condoms nationally. And then in a second case that said, actually, we found more magic ink, more invisible ink in the Constitution, and there's a right for unmarried couples to use condoms nationally too. So, okay.
Whether you like contraception or you don't like contraception is certainly the case that contraception contracieves. So that's one reason you don't have quite as many babies. Another one would be the redefinition of marriage. If you redefine marriage away from what it has always been, which is a union between a man and a woman for the purpose of the education, well, primarily the begetting and then the education of children to, you know, two dudes living in an apartment in Chelsea in Manhattan, that's going to be less conducive to having babies.
Then you add on top of that the weakening of religion and the march of secularism that is encouraged by the Libs in our schools, in our workplaces, in our public square throughout the country. You're far less likely to hear be fruitful and multiply. Then you add on to that an anthropology which says that our lives are basically just about ourselves. We're not living for anyone else. We're living for ourselves.
Then you add a view that history is evil, our forebears were awful, we hate our fathers, we don't care about our children. All of this left-wing ideology brought together discourages people from having children. Poor Bubba probably was not considering all of that when he made his comments, but it's clear as day.
The libs are responsible, basically soup to nuts for the migrant crisis. So okay, Biden not helping Kamala, Bill Clinton not helping Kamala. How about Barack Obama? Maybe he's the last superstar of the big three who are still alive. Well, I guess Jimmy Carter is still alive. And who knows, maybe he'll do better than these guys on the campaign trail. But Barack Obama comes out and his strategy to
to defend Kamala is just to attack Trump. But it's hard to attack Trump because Trump had a much more successful presidency than either the Biden-Harris administration or the Obama-Biden administration. So what does he do? He takes credit for Trump's successes. And the reason some people think, well, I don't know, I remember that economy when he first came in being pretty good. Yeah, it was pretty good because it was my economy. Yeah.
We had had 75 straight months of job growth that I handed over to him. It wasn't something he did. I spent eight years cleaning up the mess that the Republicans had left me the last time. So just in case everybody has a hazy memory, he didn't do nothing except those big tax cuts.
which were good for the economy. He didn't do nothing. He didn't build that. You didn't build that. This was one of Obama's favorite lines when he was president. Whenever people would accomplish anything on their own, he would say, you didn't build that. You didn't build your business. You didn't succeed in life. No, I did that. That was me. Trump's really good economy. He didn't build that. I did that. That was me. I had a great... Okay, well, the thing is, this isn't merely a matter of preference or taste. We can actually look at the numbers.
Barack Obama says that he had 75 straight months of job growth. He's right that he entered office during what he famously called the worst recession since the Great Depression. That's true. He entered the office during an economic crisis. However, he also had the worst recovery in modern American history from any economic crisis. Since 1960, the U.S. These are all numbers from the Heritage Foundation, by the way.
Since 1960, America's had six other recessions on top of the recession that preceded Obama entering office. 23 quarters into Barack Obama's administration, his recovery was the weakest of all seven recoveries, going back at that time 50 years.
All of those other post-1960 recoveries had produced an average GDP growth of just over 25%, cumulative GDP growth. The Obama recovery achieved about half of that. This is just like Kamala Harris stealing President Trump's border plan and his tax plan.
His tax on tips plan. So Obama there is attacking Trump for the tax cuts. He must have missed the memo that Kamala Harris has now stolen one of Trump's tax plans, the no tax on tips plan. But this is exactly the same thing. The Democrats cannot beat Trump and the Republicans on the merits, on the facts, going toe to toe with their own policies. So the Democrats now, just weeks before the 2024 election, have to just claim Trump's policies as their own.
In fact, Barack Obama has to claim Trump's administration as his own. Hold on. I thought Trump was a terrible president. Everything was so awful in the world. The sky was going to fall if he were president. Now, even the Democrats are admitting things were so good under Trump that they themselves are going to try to take credit for it. Forget about Obama and Biden and Clinton. Kamala is hitting the trail and she is attacking Trump, not on the merits of the policy, not on the record. She's not really defending her own record because there's nothing to defend, but
She is implausibly attacking Trump for hiding away and refusing to campaign. Here's the thing. Here's the thing. It makes you wonder. It makes you wonder. Why does his staff want him to hide away? One must question. One must question. Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead a marathon?
It took this woman 55 days after Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed her. It took her 55 days to give her first sit-down interview with the friendly press, with the press that supports her. It took her 55 days. She hid, she literally hid from even the friendly journalists that she knows for 55 days, almost two months. Donald Trump, around that same time, was shot in the head by
and did not change his rigorous campaign schedule one iota. Trump, shot in the head, shows up on schedule to speak at the RNC two days later. Where is this woman getting this from? Hide away. She has hidden away for most of this campaign, at least much of this campaign. Joe Biden has been hidden away by his handlers for much of the last four or five years.
Donald Trump, say what you will about him. Maybe you hate Donald Trump. Maybe you think he's the Mango Mussolini or something. Even if you were the biggest TDS Trump hater in the world, you cannot seriously accuse this guy of hiding away. He is out there every single day. The libs tried to lock him away in Manhattan courtrooms, and he was still campaigning in bodegas. He was still campaigning up there in the Bronx or up in way uptown Manhattan.
In hostile territory. Are you kidding me? What is this about? I'll tell you what it's about. This is not about the truth. It's not even just about projection, the Democrats accusing the Republicans of things that they themselves do. This is about Kamala trying to bait Trump to attack her. Kamala does not have a lot of options right now.
The debate that she had against Trump did not achieve its purpose. The purpose of that debate, even if you think it was a draw or Trump could have done better or Kamala could have done worse or whatever, it didn't achieve what she had to achieve, which is to really set her on a trajectory to win the election. Didn't do that. Then there was the vice presidential debate, which this year I think was more consequential than most years.
Because it's been such a crazy election, the candidates have been swapped out. President Trump is running for a non-consecutive second term. He's a man of a certain age, so we're looking at the second guy on the ticket a little bit more. And J.D. totally blew walls off the stage. So that hurt the momentum of the campaign.
Now, outside events are hurting the momentum of the Kamala campaign. And so she's got nothing. There aren't a lot of turning points left. She's got to try to bait Trump into attacking her. Now, there have been certain reports that Trump in private fundraisers or meetings has
has insulted Kamala. And I won't use the word, but it was pretty funny. And reportedly he, let's just say he insulted her intelligence in a flippant and offhanded way that most people would probably conclude is accurate. But,
But he doesn't really do it publicly. He doesn't have to come out there and pummel her publicly because her record is so weak. And she is such a weak candidate. And now, because she's trying to turn the momentum around, she's not hiding any longer. She's going out and she's giving interviews. But the interviews are terrible. They're so bad that even her friendly journalists...
are asking her basic questions that she can't answer. So to me, this is desperation. This is flailing. This is saying, please, Donald, give me personally more attention. Make this about a spat between a man and a woman. And let me claim, you know, I'm a woman, hear me roar. Let me tell you, excuse me, excuse me, I'm speaking here. You know, she's trying to have that moment and it's just not happening. And the premise for it is not resonating with anyone.
Say what you will about Trump. The man certainly doesn't hide. Meanwhile, Kamala's record and her old comments are coming back to bite her. Not just the nonsensical things she's saying during this campaign, but the nonsensical and alternately radical things she said back in 2021 or 2020 or 2019. Yesterday was Columbus Day, one of my favorite holidays of the year. And this statement came back to haunt Kamala yesterday. Back in 2021,
Kamala Harris had this to say about the brave Italian explorer who discovered for Christendom the Western Hemisphere and established the conditions for the founding of our very nation. Here's what she had to say about him. It is an honor, of course, to be with you this week as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, as we speak truth about our nation's history.
Since 1934, every October, the United States has recognized the voyage of the European explorers who first landed on the shores of the Americas. But that is not the whole story. That has never been the whole story. Those explorers ushered in a wave of devastation for tribal nations, perpetrating violence,
stealing land and spreading disease. We must not shy away from this shameful past and we must shed light on it and do everything we can to address the impact of the past
Okay, before we get, there's so much nonsense in there, but the part that sticks out the most to me is that she blames our forebears, our ancestors, the people who settled the West, the Western Hemisphere, and gave us our country. She blames them. She finds them morally culpable for having disease.
That's what she says. Do we blame any other group for spreading disease? Does Kamala Harris blame the homosexuals for spreading AIDS all around the world? Probably not. In fact, that very suggestion, if you said that in the presence of Kamala or a liberal, they would be appalled. They might slap you across the face. How dare you suggest such a thing? Even in the more recent past, are we allowed to blame the Chinese for spreading COVID?
Remember when COVID came out, the liberal establishment was insistent. We cannot blame this on Wuhan. We cannot blame the Chinese. You can't ever blame any people for spreading a disease. Should we blame Zaire for monkeypox or I guess the homosexuals for monkeypox? I don't know. I forget exactly the origins of monkeypox. But no, we don't blame anyone. Even disease, this woman wants to blame on white people.
on Europeans, on the people who settled the Americas. Then, this is back during the 2020 race. This was before 2020. I think this was probably back in 2019. In New Hampshire, Kamala Harris was asked if she would cancel Columbus Day. She hated the Admiral of the Ocean Sea so much that she would cancel the federal holiday. Her answer. So I'm wondering, would you support efforts on a federal level to change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day? And why does that matter so much?
Sure. Sure. Yeah. And why it matters is, to your very point, we have to remember history. Sure, yeah. Yeah, I would cancel the man to whom I owe my entire existence here. I would. Because we need to understand history.
History. There's so much more to say. First, though, go to preborn.com slash Knowles. Kamala's extreme radical stance on abortion is clear. The media have dubbed this the abortion election. We have to join and stand up to evil. When you join forces with Preborn, the largest pro-life organization in the country, you are protecting the greatest victims in our society, babies in their mother's womb.
Pre-born's network of clinics is positioned in the highest abortion areas in the nation. They have rescued over 300,000 babies. helping to rescue 200 babies. To donate, dial pound 250, say the keyword baby, pound 250, keyword baby, or pre-warn.com slash Knowles. Kamala Harris wants to cancel Christopher Columbus, end the federal holiday, in her own words, because we have to talk about history. Okay, so what's Kamala's understanding of the history of Christopher Columbus and the history of our whole country? People did not want to deal and accept and most importantly admit that
that we are the scene of a crime when it comes to what we did with slavery and Jim Crow and institutionalized racism in this country. And we have to be honest about that. We have to be honest. We have to be honest. Because if we're not honest, we are, one, not going to deal with the vestiges of all of that harm. And we're not going to correct course.
And we're not going to be true to our values and our morals. And so, similarly, when it comes to indigenous Americans, the indigenous people, there is a lot of work that we still have to do. America is the scene of a crime. That's the Kamala Harris view of American history. The old view of American history is that America is a shining city on a hill.
A nation founded on the belief that all men are created equal and endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. That's the old view of America. Kamala rejects that view. She has the opposite view. She says this country is the scene of a crime. We need to admit the real history. So there's this view on the left that to have a real mature, sophisticated understanding of history, you have to hate your own civilization. You have to debunk. They love debunking.
But once you debunk everything, what is left? Just a vacuum, an empty space? No, you've got to fill that debunked arena with some other kind of facts. And so Kamala believes that she's being really sophisticated and serious and mature by describing every terrible thing that has ever occurred within our civilization. Some of which didn't even really occur. They were just imagined things. But why is it
Why is it more mature to view our own civilization as evil and all the other civilizations as good? Why is that more mature than the opposite view? Viewing our civilization as perfectly good and all the other civilizations as terribly evil. Would Kamala Harris be willing to admit, have the courage to take a serious look at history to admit that the
The empires that fell as a result of Western exploration of the Americas were evil, wicked empires that would commit human sacrifice, that would eat infants, little babies, that would worship demons, that did all sorts of terrible, ghastly things. Would she ever admit that? No way!
No way. It seems to me one can take a serious view of history and recognize literal things that happened while still being on one's own side. That, in fact, seems to be the more mature understanding of history. Because Kamala's view here is not really an historical view. When she says we need to take history seriously, we need to be really serious about the history, she's not really talking about history. She's talking about a moral perspective.
But her moral perspective is an immoral perspective. Her moral perspective is that Christianity is bad and sacrificing babies to demons in the Aztec Empire is good. They would be better had the Spaniards not colonized the Americas. Okay, if you believe that,
then you believe that sacrificing little babies tens of thousands at a time at Tenochtitlan is a good thing. Or the Iroquois practicing ritual cannibalism would be a good thing. Or just the warring tribes of people who are living brutish lives very often, that that's a good thing. I don't think that's good, though. I think Christianity is better than demon worship. I think civilization is better than savagery. And ironically...
Kamala Harris pretends to care about the indigenous peoples and expresses her disdain for civilized peoples in what was once called Christendom in Western civilization. I care very much about both the civilized peoples and the savage peoples who were living in the Americas before the advent of civilization.
I care very much about all these people because I have come to conclusions about the world that I'm willing to acknowledge, like that God exists. It's better to do good than to do evil. History really happened. The incarnation is the most important event in the history of the world. Salvation is available to all mankind. There is an actual spiritual equality among all peoples, even on different continents, even different colors, even with different kinds of clothing. I actually...
I want to bring the goods of civilization and ultimately the goods of salvation to all the peoples of the world. No matter what color they are, no matter how they look, no matter how they dress, I think that's a good thing. It would seem that you would have to have a real contempt for people to say, no, let them keep butchering their children. No, no, let them keep worshiping demons and living in squalor. That's a good thing. Whatever. Who cares about them? We should just keep to our own business. But look, that's her moral view.
And that's the moral view being advanced by the left under the guise of historical sophistication. That woman doesn't know a damn thing about history. She just knows that she hates the protagonists of our history, one of the chief of whom is Christopher Columbus. So there is shocking news, breaking headline news, thanks to a new documentary that is out. You know the traditional understanding of Christopher Columbus.
If you're not aware of it, I'll allow Tony Soprano to explain. He was a brave Italian explorer. There it's it. He was a brave Italian explorer. Christopher Columbus, great man. He was an Italian explorer. He tried to sail for Portugal. Portugal didn't want him. He tried to sail for Spain. Spain didn't want him, but eventually Spain relented. He sailed for Spain, discovered the Americas, gave us so much of what we call the modern world. And now there's a new documentary that says, no, no, no, he was not Italian.
He only pretended to be Italian because he was born in Spain, but he had to hide the fact that he was born in Spain because Christopher Columbus was a Jew. Now, it's worth pointing out, there's really no scientific evidence for this yet, because as Antonio Alonso, a geneticist who's the former head of the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences, as he points out, this documentary has not actually presented any scientific study
So in Alonzo's words, unfortunately, from the scientific point of view, no assessment can be made after watching the documentary since it does not provide any data on what has been analyzed. My conclusion is that the documentary does not show the DNA of Columbus at any given moment, and scientists do not know what analysis has been undertaken.
Now, on top of that, if Columbus was part Jewish, that still would not prove that he was born in Spain rather than in Genoa, as has been commonly understood since the earliest days of Columbus's travels. That all said, though, it's an interesting theory. Was Columbus Jewish or part Jewish?
And it's an interesting theory too, because right around this time you have the Spanish Inquisition. I just gave a long speech on the Crusades and some of the great battles between Christians and Muslims and the Spanish Inquisition. The Spanish Inquisition is an extremely poorly understood event in the popular culture. No one ever expects it. And the Spanish Inquisition
was the culmination of what's called the Reconquista. So the Muslims had invaded Spain early on. They tried to conquer Europe on multiple occasions and failed, but they did succeed at conquering Spain. And happily, eventually, the Catholic Spanish were able to gain enough power that they were able to boot the Muslims back out and send them packing back to their homeland. So at this point, they had this challenge, which was they said, okay, if you convert,
To Catholicism. Well, just called Christianity in those days because it was before the Protestant Revolution. If you convert to Christianity, you can stay. If you're Muslim, you still have some issues, but we'd like you to convert to Christianity. But if you're an other kind of non-Christian, if you're a Jew in particular, you can stay. However, if you're not, then you got to go.
So, whatever you think about the expulsion of non-Christians from Spain, which in the context of the 15th century must at least seem somewhat defensible, seeing as the Christians had finally reconquered this land from the invading Muslims who had dominated this part of Europe for centuries. But even if you say the expulsions were a terrible thing,
The Spanish Inquisition was never an institution that sought explicitly to persecute Jews or Muslims. The purpose of the Spanish Inquisition was to defend the integrity of the faith. It only concerned people who had converted to Christianity, some of whom were
had only fake converted to Christianity, but I guess had continued to practice their own religion. So this raises the question pertinent to Columbus here, which is the question of the conversos. The conversos were Jews who had, around the time of Columbus or even much earlier, converted to Christianity.
Now, there's another group. What is it? The Marranos, I think, who were Jews who had said they converted to Christianity but secretly were not Christian and were still Jewish. But that first group, the conversos, were people who were ethnically Jews, just like the apostles, just like many, many early Christians, and had converted to Christianity. The people behind this documentary seem really confused about that fact.
Because they don't see how a Jew could be a Catholic. They don't see how someone who's a converso in this time in Spain could be a Catholic. Some of the most prominent saints that we think of today were conversos, were ethnic Jews who came from the lineage of people who had converted in Spain. Teresa Benedict of the Cross. Well, she was not a converso. That was Edith Stein. She came much later. Teresa of Avila. Her family converted through the Spanish Inquisition. John of the Cross. Obviously, the apostles were ethnic Jews. There's no actual study yet.
But the one thing that we can know for certain is not true about this story is that Christopher Columbus secretly practiced the religion of Judaism. Because Christopher Columbus, according to every account we have of him,
was a devout Catholic who regularly said all the prayers, who undertook the voyage for the spread of the gospel, who wanted to fund another crusade to the Holy land to reclaim the Holy land for Christians, who was one of the most devout men of his era. Uh,
That we do know. And so the fact that these documentarians and the people reporting on Columbus would make that kind of basic error of religion in the history of the church makes me question the whole story. For now, at least, whether he's Jewish or not, at least on the question, ethnically Jewish or not, at least on the question of was he Spanish or Italian?

My favorite comment yesterday is from CodyRobbins19 who says, Those pheasants are safer with Tim Walls in charge than people living in apartments in Colorado. That's so true.
The pheasants are much safer. Ducks would be much safer with Tim Walls hunting them than they would be with Kamala Harris's recent imports living around them. Dogs and cats, listen, you understand. Why the hate for Columbus? And even beyond that, why the constant attempts to
Not to shed new light on his genes or his history, which I think is perfectly interesting, but to undermine his faith, his sincerity, his motives. Because this is what's underlying a lot of this Columbus was secretly a Spanish Jew, not an Italian Catholic story.
They want to undermine the notion that this man did want to spread the gospel, that he did want to fund a new crusade, that all he wanted to do was escape persecution in Spain, that all he wanted to do was make some gold in the Americas. It has to always be this base motive. Why? Pope Leo XIII explained why in his wonderful celebration of Columbus in 1892, quarto abeunte seculo, fourth century away.
And this, I think, really, this has a lot to say, not just about Columbus, not just about 150 years ago. This has a lot to say about our own time and how we understand our own motivations. He wrote, Now that four centuries have sped since a Ligurian first under God's providence touched shores unknown beyond the Atlantic, the whole world is eager to celebrate the memory of the event and glorify its author. Nor could a worthier reason be found where through zeal should be kindled.
But there is besides another reason, a unique one, why we consider that this immortal achievement should be recalled by us with memorial words. For Columbus is ours. It is indubitable that the Catholic faith was the strongest motive for the inception and prosecution of his design, so that for this reason also the whole human race owes not a little to the church.
This view and aim is known to have possessed his mind above all, namely to open a way for the gospel over new lands and seas. And here's the real punch. This indeed may seem of small likelihood to such as confine their whole thought and care to the evidence of the senses and refuse to look for anything higher.
But great intellects, on the contrary, are usually want to cherish higher ideals. That's why Kamala Harris hates Christopher Columbus. That's why everyone tries to undermine Columbus's motives.
whether using science, dubious or legitimate science, using historical records that are certainly dubious, using all manner of ideology. They hate him because he is ours and because he had higher motivations than the base sensual people, the degraded economic man of our modern era can understand.
or at the very least, higher ideals than the base people of this era can bring themselves up to. They hate him because they are not men of high ideals and intellect like Columbus was, and because they resent that fact and they resent themselves. Because we're a degraded civilization now, I think it helps fuel that civilizational self-hatred.
And we look backward in history and we project our own baseness on the legitimately great men who gave us the opportunity to have a good life, an opportunity that many of us now are squandering as we follow weak and degraded leaders like Kamala Harris. This led to a little gotcha clip from Kamala Harris. The Kamala campaign just posted this.
Trump was on a podcast. He was talking about how America's not as great as it used to be, and he wants to make America great again. Here was the response. My legacy to be is the same as the term MAGA, make America great again. I'm going to make this country great again. It's not a great country right now. It's loaded up. It's always a great country. It's a great country. It's always a great country. Okay. It's always a great country. And Trump is saying, no, it's not. It used to be a lot better, actually. And
And the response there was, no, no, no, it's always a great country. And forget about the podcasters on this panel. Kamala campaign reposts this as if to say Trump is unpatriotic for suggesting America is not as great as it used to be and we need to be great again. The liberals during the first MAGA era spent all their breath whining about how America was never great. New York governor, Democrat Andy Cuomo, take it away.
And look, the simple point is all this comes down to this. We're not going to make America great again. It was never that great. It was never that great. You had everything from college newspapers to Vox.com, New York Daily News, New Republic, Colin Kaepernick. Remember that guy, the football player? The New York Times implied it, Time Magazine, all saying America was never really that great. I have them right here just in case anybody didn't believe me. Look at all of these papers. America should never be great.
America has never been great for people of color on and on and on. These people, they're so, so shameless. They tell you for years and years and years, America was never great. Making America great again would be evil and terrible. How dare you? How this and that. This is just like how during the Bush era,
dissent. Dissent was patriotic. Do you remember that? Maybe not. Some of you are probably too young to remember. During the Bush era, you had all these protests. Well, the Bush era began, the George W. Bush era began with Democrats denying the results of an election and trying to overturn a presidential election. My times have changed. But back then, it was a good thing that the Democrats tried to overturn the election. Then, during the Bush era, dissent was patriotic. And it was really good to protest and everything.
Then, now, if you ever question an election, you're an evil, terrible person, and you're a threat to democracy. And now, dissent is not patriotic. You have to say America's always the greatest country ever in the world. You've got to be the biggest chauvinist. You've got to be as jingoistic as they come. All of these procedural issues are distractions. We can say, look at the hypocrisy from the Democrats. It's all distractions. The only question is, where do they want to take the country?
Trump wants to take us to a place where we like our country. We don't teach our kids to hate our country. We don't teach our boys that they're girls. We don't teach our girls that we're boys. We don't kill a million babies a year. We don't waste all of our money overseas. We don't import the entire world and give foreigners great benefits and deny the necessities to Americans. He wants us to be normal and great again. Where does Kamala want to take the country? She says America is the scene of a crime.
That's a stronger statement than when Barack Obama said he wanted to fundamentally transform America. Scene of a crime. Well, I guess she doesn't want to take us back to that. We're the scene of a crime.
She wants to radically change America. She hates the people who founded America. She hates Americans as they are. She wants to import a ton of foreigners to replace all the Americans. And she wants to reorder all of the standards and norms of our country to replace the old standards and norms, which she calls criminal. Now, speaking of competing ideological visions, I do have to get to this story before we go today. There's a survey out. One in five Zoomers apparently believes that Hitler had good ideas.
So this is a, I shouldn't laugh. It's not great. This is a story that just came out from the Daily Mail. It's an exclusive. More than one in 10, so 11% of Americans believe that Hitler had good ideas. Now, we've got to put a pause here because I realized this survey was probably worded poorly. Because if you object to communism, say,
then probably technically that puts you in the 11% on the survey. If you object to prostitution or something, technically that probably puts you in the 11%. It doesn't mean you're pro-Hitler. It just means you hold that view at least, I guess, in common. They found that one in five of Gen Z and black voters and then 19% of Hispanic voters agree with the statement.
And they see that the likelihood to agree with that statement increases as the generations go down. So the older Americans are much less likely to agree with it. The younger Americans are much more likely to agree with it. I think this is a poorly worded survey. But the truth that exists in this statement is not that Zoomers love Hitler or something like that. The truth that exists here is that the mythic pathos of Adolf Hitler necessarily will diminish with time. It's not that people will start to like Hitler.
It's that they'll start to treat Hitler just as we treat Vlad the Impaler or Ivan the Terrible or somebody. Vlad the Impaler committed genocide and war crimes, like Hitler. But we don't – when we talk about Vlad the Impaler, we don't say he was a really great guy. We just – we don't treat him so somberly, with such sobriety, with such seriousness.
He's just another historical figure, one who would reportedly dip his bread in the blood of his victims. He was out there, man. He was pretty sadistic, much like the old Austrian painter. But he's just an older historical figure. You're talking half a millennium back. Ivan the Terrible roasted people alive. You want to talk about specifically going after Jews? He drowned a whole town of Jews, unconverted Jews, Ivan the Terrible.
But we don't think of him with the same intensity and sobriety and seriousness. This does not mean that people increasingly are Nazis. What it means is that father time comes for all, including for Hitler. It means that history advances and it changes people's mythic perceptions, even of historical events. It means that...
History changes a little bit too. And our understanding of who we are vis-a-vis history, which is why the Libs spend so much time trying to set their own narrative about history. They know it matters. They know that Christopher Columbus matters. That's why they spend so much time and effort trying to change all of those conceptions. It's why conservatives seed those narratives and those conceptions at our own peril. Go to silencershop.com slash Knowles.
