So Trump picked his new NIH director, the NIH, which used to be a criminal named Collins, and he worked hand-in-hand with Fauci, who was at the NIAID, National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disorders. I think, I don't know what it's called.

But I think it's called the N-A-I-A-D-I-E-A-O-P. So this guy, he's been on our show. So this guy, he did the Great Barrington Declaration. And his big idea was to have focus protection.

So the Great Barrington Declaration was you don't lock everybody down. You just take care of the vulnerable people, like the elderly, the people with comorbidities and such, and everybody else goes about their life. And it turns out that was the right way to go. This focus protection plan went against Dr. Fauci's diabolical plan.

for the world. And so Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins decided to initiate a propaganda attack against the hundreds of international doctors who signed on to the declaration. That was the Great Barrington Declaration. And so here's the email about their plan to smear him. It says, let me read it to you. It says, hi, Tony and Cliff. This proposal from the three fringe epidemiologists, they called Dr. Botticelli,

And the two other, I think I'm going to show you in a second, the three, here's the three friends. Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University. Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor at Oxford University. And Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford University. They called them fringe.

So it says this proposal from three fringe epidemiologists who met with the secretary seems to be getting a lot of attention and even a co-signature from Nobel Prize winner Mike something at Stanford. There needs to be a quick and devastating. There needs to be a quick and devastating published takedown of this. It's premises.

I don't see anything like that online yet. Is it underway? Why would you need to have a quick and devastating takedown? Why wouldn't you have a, let's have a debate about this and see what the science should be? Because it was never about science. Tony Fauci is a criminal and a liar and a criminal liar. And so is Francis Collins at the NIH. So was Walensky over at the CDC. They're all criminals and they're all liars. And, um,

So I asked, so there they are, I asked them about this. Why did they do this to you? And here's, this is from the Jimmy Dore show, watch this. And so Dr. Bhattacharya, why would Anthony Fauci and the head of the NIH not want to have this discussion? Instead, why do you think they would bypass the real debate and go right to slandering you and your work?

We posed an enormous problem for them, Jimmy. The problem is that they wanted to create this illusion that all the scientists in the world, all the doctors in the world agreed with this lockdown policy.

They wanted to, it was basically a propaganda campaign. They wanted to create this, tell the public, no, no, we are the science. And rather than facing the inconvenient fact that many, many, many scientists disagreed with them. The Great Bennington Declaration, when we wrote it, the three of us, me, Martin, and then Sunetra Gupta of Oxford University, we posed an enormous problem for them because they couldn't simply just really dismiss this as fringe.

They wanted to, and you can see that they did. - They did. - The reason is simple. It's like if there are prominent scientists who disagree with them, well, that must mean there's lots of other scientists that disagree with them as well. In fact, there were thousands, tens of thousands of scientists and doctors signed on. And that's why we pose a problem, not because of the science. They can't defend the science of the lockdown, but because of the PR.

So there you go. So now that guy's the head of the NIH. Former guest on the Jimmy Dore show. Makes me very proud. We've got three people who've been former guests on the Jimmy Dore show who are now in the top of the Trump administration. We have Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., and now Jay Bhattacharya. So that's how they tried to call them fringe. They tried to call them fringe. And this person's from the Harvard University.

That person's from Oxford. And the guy who's now going to be the head of the NIH, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, is a professor at Stanford Medical School, a physician, epidemiologist, health economist, and a public health policy expert.

They were being suppressed and they were being censored. And you didn't hear about it because they were being suppressed and censored. So there it is.

That was the Great Barrington Declaration, which he was an author of, which was the right way to handle COVID. You don't lock people down. There was no science for masks. You do targeted protection of the people who are vulnerable, just like you do with the flu, because COVID had a survival rate of 99.5%. Less than half a percent of people died from COVID, and those people average age 82 years old.

And most of them had three or four comorbidities. So it was never really a threat to healthy people. And the fact that they're still pushing the boosters, a lot of people say is malpractice. Now, of course, the CDC and the FDA say it's fantastic science, even though the top two people at the FDA in charge of vaccines resigned over the boosters. I'm not allowed to say that's bad.

He says, so now I know what it feels like to be the subject of a propaganda attack by my own government. Discussion and engagement would have been better. So that's a top priority.

Top doctor, top scientist at Stanford University who got it right. And of course, the government and the media slandered him and smeared him to discredit him. Then they suppressed him and then they censored him. And now he's the head of the NIH. So that's thrilling. So if for no other reason, no matter what, you know, we might be in World War Three pretty soon. Seems like Joe Biden is trying his hardest or the people who are.

Trump just appointed a guy today to be the special envoy to Ukraine. Last year, he was all on board for the Ukraine war and ramping it up. So you don't know what's going to happen. But this is the this makes me there's one bright spot. This Bobby Tulsi now totally don't understand why she flipped on Israel, but she did.

But she's definitely going to be the best DNI that we've had in a long time. So you want to hear what else he had to say about this whole campaign smear? Did he wear the same suit in my suit? Yeah, he's wearing the same suit coat. And so – there it is. Look at that. HHS commissioned a public relations firm named Forrest Marshberg in September of 2020 –

and then spent almost a billion dollars over the course of the Biden administration, essentially to propagandize the American public. Their themes were very, the goal, the main goal was to tell people that if you don't get the COVID vaccine, you are unclean.

And they fear-mongered about the risk to kids. They pushed forward false ideas about natural immunity where they said essentially denied its existence. They did everything they possibly could to –

tell you about the benefits of the vaccine, but never once told you about the potential harms, right? So for instance, the side effects of myocarditis for young men, as best I can tell, never came up once in any of their ads. And they put these ads into like the most vulnerable populations. It essentially was a billion dollars spent by the taxpayer to propagandize the American people. - So that's your new head of the NIH. What a difference, what a difference.

He is a trained physician economist. He has now been confirmed. No, he hasn't been confirmed, but it's confirmed that Trump is nominating him. So this was from yesterday. So he's not the presumptive favorite. He's actually been selected by President Donald Trump as the next director of the National Institutes of Health. So it goes HHS, which is going to be Bobby, RFK Jr., and then underneath it's going to be this guy at the NIH,

Then there'll be the FDA and the CDC. Batachara met this week with Robert F. Kennedy, blah, blah, blah. Nearly a $50 billion agency that oversees the nation's biomedical research. But that's almost as much money as we give to Ukraine in a weekend. Batachara has called for shifting the agency's focus toward funding more innovative research and reducing the influence of some of its long-serving career officials.

I'm with you on that. Bhattacharya emerged as a prominent critic of the federal government's COVID-19 response, co-writing the Great Barrington Declaration that called for rolling back coronavirus-related shutdowns while keeping focused protections for vulnerable populations such as older Americans. And he was right about that. Turns out he was 100% right. You know who was wrong? The media, Rachel Maddow, everybody who used to work on this show,

Everybody on everybody else on Facebook, everybody in Hollywood, everybody in the government, everybody else. They're all wrong. But now we know it wasn't just one or two guys who got it right. It was 60,000 doctors and health professionals signed on to that. The proposal won support from Republican politicians and some Americans eager to resume daily life, but was rebuked by public health experts. There are people still clinging to masks.

So that just goes to show you this is an emotional thing. People still want to be afraid of COVID. They're still clinging to masks. There are people still getting their boosters, which shows you that this is emotional. This isn't about logic or facts or we're the smart people. We're the liberals. We're smart. The conservatives are the dummies. That's not it's not about it. It's emotional. That's nothing to do with science. That's nothing to do with facts or evidence based science. Nothing.

It just has to do with your emotions. They are emotional children. But so the proposal once so and Bob, Bob, Bob. Yeah. Bhattacharya has called for rolling back the power of some of the 27 institutes and centers that constitute NIH, saying that some I know people, I know comedians who still wear masks and comedy clubs.

They take it off right before they go on stage, which they do that, I guess, just to prove that they're fucking crazy. So you're going to wear a mask, except when you go up and you have 200 people breathing right at you. Then when you're away from the 200 people breathing right at you, you're going to put your mask right back on.

Baracharo has called for rolling back the power of some of the 27 institutes and centers that constitute NIH, saying that some career civil servants wrongly shaped national policies at the height of the pandemic and did not tolerate dissent. Science is all about dissent.

NIH has also been investigated by lawmakers in the wake of the pandemic, including by Republicans who say the agency's leaders mismanaged the virus response and have demanded there's going to be nothing happening to anybody. Just so you know, I don't care who's in charge. Nothing's going to happen to Anthony Fauci. They already spent $15 million on security for him. Why? Because he did the bidding of the Pentagon, the military industrial complex and big pharma. That guy is protected.

Fauci and other current and former NIH officials, if you lie at the behest of the establishment, there is never... Look at Peter Hotez. Look at Rachel Maddow. These are some of the world-class heavyweight champion liars. Anthony Fauci. Antony Blinken. Heavyweight champion liars. Nothing's ever going to happen to them because they're lying at the behest of the powerful.

And then you would need someone more powerful to come after them. There is no one more powerful than Big Pharma and the Pentagon, military industrial complex. There's nobody more powerful than that. So that's why though nothing will ever happen. Fauci and other current and former NIH officials have defended their pandemic decisions and they have the people in the media to back them up because they're bought by the same people who bought Fauci.

So that's why when you turn on the media, they still say Fauci was right. I still have fucking morons in my DMs, Hollywood assholes, upset that I'm criticizing Fauci because they don't know a fucking thing. The agency's broader response saying that federal leaders generally did the best that they could. They did not. As we just showed you, they smeared people who had a better idea. They slandered people. They did a devastating takedown. Ugh.

Trump, and they say, oh, and that much of the criticism is second guessing. No, they were they were out in front of it. I just showed you how Jay Bhattacharya and the Great Barrington Declaration, they were way out in front on this. Fauci and other current and former NIH officials have defended that we already did this. Trump on Friday night announced a flurry of other top health care appointments, including Macari. Is that Marty Macari as his planned FDA commissioner?

I think that's good. Weldon as his planned CDC director. Not so sure about Weldon. And Janet, a family in emergency medicine. Yeah, I'm not. She did change her tune. She got COVID completely wrong. She was forced shutting people up who were dissenting. But then at some point she got religion and she switched.

Those positions are also subject to Senate confirmation. Bhattacharya and Markari collaborated on a blueprint for a proposed commission to investigate the nation's coronavirus response. Well, I don't think that's ever going to happen. I think they're going to have a hard enough time getting anything done because the entire establishment is going to be opposing people like Jay Bhattacharya, Bobby Kennedy. They're going to be completely opposing them.

And what do I mean by the establishment? I mean, by all the Republicans and Democrats in Congress and in the Senate, all the people who are permanently inside the government, the media, all that. That's what I'm talking about.

That the way they bill, the whole billing system for medical care in the United States is rigged by the American Medical Association, the AMA.

And so that has probably a lot to do with why stuff costs so much in the United States. Robert Kennedy, RFK, look at him standing there behind a fence watching the guys beat the crap out of each other. And Tulsi's right there. What do you think? Why do you think she's biting her lip like that? Anyway, Robert Kennedy is considered an upheaval to U.S. Medicare doctor's billing system. What? What do you mean? Get this.

He's working on plans to rid the doctor's lobby. So a doctor's lobbying group has control over the lucrative part of Medicare billing. And he's isn't that weird?

And and he's going to take on a vested interest in the world's costliest health care system, according to people close to the discussion. Kennedy, who was tapped by Trump, Donnie Toney hands last week to run the U.S. Health and Human Services Department, has held discussions with advisers about how to remove the American Medical Association from its role in drawing up Medicare's billing codes.

would set doctors' fees for more than 10,000 procedures, ranging from laboratory tests to chemotherapy. So you would think that Medicare would set it, the price. They don't.

The doctor's lobbying group called the AMA. The plan would result in an upheaval of a system that has been in place for decades. Or do you say decades? And it is the latest sign that Trump's pick for health secretary for health secretary intends to take a hammer to the American health establishment. They make Financial Times. This is from Financial Times. They make that sound like a bad thing. Is that you think they're trying to make it sound like a bad thing? I think they are.

I think the Financial Times has a financial interest. Kennedy has railed against issues ranging from the wide-scale rollout of COVID-19 vaccines to industry's outsized influence over drug regulation. Since the early 80s, the United States government has relied on the AMA, the industry body for more than 170,000 doctors to maintain billing codes known as the current procedural terminology that determined about how a fifth percentile

of Medicare Part B's $490 billion budget is spent every year. Some 66 million Americans over 65 years old are covered by Medicare. Kennedy's team has discussed how the CPT process could be done in-house by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. You would think that that's how they would do it. No, this is more regulatory capture.

That's what RFK is dealing with here. That the body, the Medicare and Medicaid services inside the government is being dictated to by a lobbying group for profit doctors. Kennedy's plan would cause huge bureaucratic disruption for Medicare and threaten the AMA's biggest revenue. That's their biggest revenue stream. They get paid to do this.

Republican lawmakers previously considered changing the system, but balked at the complexity. I bet that's what scared them off, the complexity. I'm sure it wasn't the lobbying money from the AMA. The discussions show how influential Kennedy, known as RFK Jr., oh, thanks, that's his nickname, is it? Is likely to be in directing the Trump administration's health policy agenda.

an issue that did not feature heavily in the presidential-elect's campaign. Kennedy, well, it kind of did. Maha was a big deal. Kennedy has been vocal about taking on the healthcare industry's influence over policymaking.

In a post on Twitter following his nomination, Kennedy vowed to clean up corruption, stop the revolving door between industry and government, and return our health agencies to their rich tradition of gold standard, evidence-based medicine. Pharmaceutical executives have been alarmed at RFK's nomination, which has hit biotech stocks because of his skepticism towards vaccines.

Reforms of the CPT codes would also represent an existential threat to the AMA, the American Medical Association lobbying group, which generates more than half of its $495 million of annual revenues from its CPT work and other royalty payments. Well, isn't that something? I bet they are chagrined.

A person close to the lobbying group said changes to Medicare's billing system could unleash as much chaos as the hack of UnitedHealth has changed. What? So they're trying to scare you. Oh, my God, he shouldn't do this. Chaos is coming. Financial Times getting a little bit of that sweet AMA money. Mike, that's my guess.

Robert Berenson, a CMS official under the Clinton administration who is now senior policy fellow, I'd like to be a fellow, at the Urban Institute, a think tank, said changes to the codes would cause chaos. It's going to cause chaos without a flight plan about what's next. Chaos. I bet they're going to be able to handle it. I have a feeling. Berenson pointed out that some other Medicare billing codes are drawn up in-house by the CMS.

But he said, even if an alternative were found, doctors and the AMA would be very unhappy with the change. Oh, well, we shouldn't want to make the AMA unhappy. So this guy, Robert Berenson, who was a CMS official under Clinton. So what does that tell you? Bill Clinton was completely bought and paid for by Big Pharma, by the lobbying groups, by Wall Street, by the military industrial complex. He was complete. So I'm going to guess that guy is too.

And that's why he's saying these things. Kevin Bass, Ph.D., MS, says he's proposing eliminating the American Medical Association's role in Medicare's billing codes. These billing codes are 60 percent of the AMA's revenue. Eliminating their role in Medicare may effectively defund the AMA. Well, at least 60 percent. Robert Kennedy considers upheaval to U.S. medical doctors. That's right. I say good. The Washington Post also talks about this.

Here's what they say. The coding system tends to reward health care providers for surgeries and other costly procedures. Oh, you mean they don't they don't get paid if they do preventative medicine and keep people healthy? No, it's all on the back end. They get paid more if you're sick, right? Yeah. It has been accused of staring physicians to become specialists because they will be paid more.

While financial incentives are different in other countries where more physicians go into primary care and health outcomes are better. So in the United States, everybody's pushed into becoming a specialist because that's where the money is. And that's why they say there's a shortage of primary care doctors, although I can't get in to see a dermatologist to save my life. So it's tough. Can you believe there aren't enough doctors in the United States where all the money is in medical care?

Although policymakers have spent years warning policymakers have been years warning about the Medicare's billing codes and their skewed incentives. Nobody ever did anything about it. And now Bobby's going to do something about it. And people are like chaos, chaos. So the technicalities of billing codes and the financial interest for industry groups customer. So, yeah, so that's right. So he's going to change all that. It's a very low salience issue. I don't know what that means. What is low salience mean?

What is salience? I don't even know what salience means. Salience? What does salience mean? Yes. So that's right. It's a very low important issue. Look at Miriam Logeson using a big $5 word, huh? Good for you. You should be a writer. It's a very low important issue, said Miriam Logeson, a Columbia University professor who has written a book. So she has written a book. She's a writer.

Fixing medical prices about Medicare's physician payments. The prominent stakeholders in this area would probably prefer to keep it that way. So again, she's using these words that make it hard to, she's talking like she's a lawyer. The prominent stakeholders in this area, she means the people making the money off of doing it this way. So the people making the money off of doing it this way want to keep it this way. Wow. Could you imagine having a dinner conversation with this woman? Yeah.

Medicare's billing codes are shaped by the American Medical Association, which represents more than 250,000 physicians. The lobbying group oversees a panel of several dozen physicians known as the AMA Specialty Society RVS Update Committee. Wow. More commonly referred to as the RUC. Holy shit. There's lots of names for them. Who study the resources needed for each medical service and issue recommendations to the federal government.

While those recommendations are not binding, federal officials overwhelmingly accept them and use them. So it doesn't matter if they're buying, they just take them. So whatever the AMA says you should charge, that's what they do. The panel's recommendations have historically been skewed by misleading estimates of how physicians spend their time, according to a 2013 Washington Post investigation. You mean something over a decade ago you've known this?

And nobody got around to it. Not Barack Obama, not Donald Trump, not Joe Biden and Kamala. But now Bobby Kennedy's going to get around to it. Chaos! Hammer! Hammer! For instance, the Post found that RUC repeatedly inflated the amount of time a doctor needed to perform a procedure. The AMA also collects millions of dollars in revenue from its work to develop the recommend... We already told you that. With the lobbying group conducting trainings...

selling books and charging royalties. Ah, ah. Good to have for-profit medicine, isn't it? Lawmakers have spent decades, or do you say decades, questioning why physicians play a role in setting their own federal payments. Trent Lott, the Mississippi Republican who served as Senate Minority Leader, in 2001, he took aim at the lobbying group's influence, calling to strip the AMA's copyright for the codes.

Senators say those concerns have for sale. I guess it didn't win, though. It didn't work. OK, no. I've long been concerned with this secretive AMA committee setting their own payment rates from Medicare, said Elizabeth Warren, who hasn't done a fucking thing about it. Would I like to whack my finger? Oh, she said in a statement to The Post. Good for you, Elizabeth Warren, my favorite Native American.

By the way, it's Native American month. Did you know that? So she must be very happy, Elizabeth Warren. It's just plain unethical. These recommendations should be made in the best interest of patients and taxpayers, not a handful of well-connected insiders. Whoa! Elizabeth Warren will never do anything. She likes to say she talks a good game.

Any federal attempt to overhaul billions of dollars in annual payments to health care providers appears destined to spark an intense lobbying effort to stymie the changes or shift them to reward certain procedures. Yep. The billing codes are implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. So that's the CMS, I guess, commonly known as the CMS. Trump on Tuesday selected Dr. Oz to lead the CMS. Jesus H. Are you kidding me?

Our CMS embedded a system that waits for Americans to get sick and profits. Who said that? Callie Means, a Kennedy advisor. If Kennedy and Oz are confirmed, they would play significant roles in reshaping the Medicare coding system. The CMS department has a larger budget than defense and intelligence. Well, we don't know what the budget is for intelligence, do we?

Really? So we spend more. Well, I guess that's good. That's good that we spend more on Medicare for old people than we do for bombs. I mean, that actually makes me feel good. It is clear that the RUC process is broken and that the AMA has no interest in even minor changes. Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank, wrote in 2018. Again, that's almost...

Was that, I don't know, 16 years? I don't know how long ago that was. Six years ago? That's six? The cabal wields its influence to favor costly specialty care over primary care, and the prices of physician services skyrocket year after year. That's right. Oh, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and Republican donors wrote that in 2019. So, again, here's more good news from RFK Jr., so that's good.

Jad Kabadji, president of the movement, said Canada should refuse to meet NATO military spending targets. That'd be nice. He also said that despite calling itself a defensive alliance, NATO has destabilized multiple regions across the globe and created military conflicts, notably in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

and at least four protesters had to go to the hospital. So that's normally how it goes. Everything's cool until the cops show up. That's when the violence starts. He said the purpose of the protest was to demonstrate against what he called NATO's complicity with Israel's military while it's conducting its genocide in Gaza, war crimes in Lebanon and Syria, and that it's enforcing a legal occupation of Palestinian territories.

On Saturday afternoon, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he called Friday scenes appalling. Remember what he said about the truckers? It was all made up. He said the truckers were Nazis waving Nazi flags, that they were violent. It was all made up. Acts of anti-Semitism, intimidation and violence must be condemned wherever we see them. Yeah, in the government, there must be consequences and rioters held accountable.

But no accountability for genocide. Quebec Premier Francois Legault also described the scenes as anti-Semitic. Burning cars and smashing windows is not about sending a message. It's about causing chaos. Such acts have no place in peaceful society like Quebec, he wrote. But dropping 2,000-pound bombs on refugee camps, that has a place somewhere.

Greg Bion, the group's vice president, said the group condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but added NATO has helped provoke conflict in the region.

Group members Rania El-Gharbi said she does not support violent protests, but added Canadians are becoming increasingly frustrated by Canada's support for Israel and lack of action in protesting, protecting Palestinians. Delegates from NATO member states and partner countries are in Montreal this weekend.

Well, this protest happened at the Palais de Congrès, which is this huge convention center, which is two blocks from my house, Jimmy. Oh, really? I'm in downtown Montreal, a short walk away from it. I happened to be in Toronto on Thursday night giving a speech, and I arrived in Montreal by train.

right when the protest was happening. And I went immediately from the train station, which is about 10 minutes from the convention center, to the convention center. And when I got there, I didn't see any protesters. All I saw were riot cops everywhere. And I did notice a few broken windows, but I didn't see any major damage. There was, I saw video footage later of a damaged vehicle or two. But the

But this was really minor vandalism. And the accounts that I get from people who were in that protest and who are friends of mine, longstanding comrades in the anti-imperialist movement, they told me quite clearly that in fact it was the police who instigated the violence, which is not at all surprising for those of us who've been active in Montreal politics for many years, that they beat people. Some people had to go to hospital. They rained down tear gas on the protesters.

And at the end of the day, by the way, all of the politicians quoted in that article are frothing at the mouth, notorious Zionists, every single one of them. Uh-huh.

The deputy leader of the Conservative Party, which is poised to win the next election in Canada, said that pro-Hamas terror mobs had taken over downtown Montreal. Oh my God. That was pretty much, you know, that was typical of the commentary I saw on social media. There's absolutely no evidence to back any of this up. You mentioned that brothers and sisters in the Jewish community support the Palestinian movement. There were many Jewish people in that protest.

And yet they don't have any hesitation whatsoever, you know, about accusing the protesters of being anti-Semites. And the other thing I want to say is today was the fourth day and the final day of that NATO parliamentary assembly. I went myself to the entrance. By the way, I'm a registered card-carrying member of the Canadian Union of Freelance Journalists, and I am systematically excluded when I apply for media accreditation to every government-organized event.

even when I have a letter of assignment from an established media organization. They won't let me in. They never tell me why. So I went to the one entrance where the delegates were entering the convention center today, and I started asking them a question as they walked by me. And the question was, are Ukrainian lives more valuable than Palestinian lives? And it took about five minutes for me to be surrounded by cops

one of whom was grabbing my arm quite aggressively, bumping me, pushing me away from the door. Another one threatened to arrest me. They all know I'm a lawyer. They all know that I'm a law-abiding citizen. It doesn't matter to these people. And if they were willing to do that to me, you know, a member of the press who is a lawyer in good standing and has been for decades, and they know this, you can imagine what they're doing to, you know, just ordinary citizens in the street who are protesting this heinous genocide. So this narrative is complete chaos.

Malarkey. But this is, you know, par for the course for what we see in the Canadian media. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's so many things that were predictable there, right, that they would call them anti-Semites, that they would accuse them of violence. And they would is exactly the exact same playbook they used during covid. And we now know that the truckers were completely peaceful and joyous.

And that, by the way, the truckers were vaccinated at a higher rate than the general population. They weren't protesting medicine. They were protesting authoritarianism. And they were right. In fact, it was ruled by the highest court in Canada that what Tristan Trudeau did when he invoked the Emergency Powers Act, I'm not sure if that's what it's called, that that was illegal. It was unconstitutional what he did. So the same play. So go ahead. Take it where you want.

I just want to comment on that, Jimmy, because this is also very personal to me. Look, I'm a leftist. I make no bones about that. I did get vaccinated when they had the vaccine passport system in place. I got double dosed. I got COVID within six months of getting my second dose. But I didn't object to the vaccine. You know, the government asked me to do that. And I, like a good citizen, complied. But when I was hearing all about this stuff in Ottawa, I decided to go see for myself.

because I care very deeply about civil liberties, even though my politics may be different from many of the people who were in the streets of Ottawa. And my daughter at the time lived

Lived on a street where the truckers had planted themselves and were honking their horns relentlessly And she was very upset about the disruption to her personal life But I still went there with an open mind and I was there on the day that the riot cops moved in and started arresting people and I was standing right at the front line where the police were pulling these people off of the street dragging them away, I did not see one single of those protesters engage in any violence and

I didn't see any hate speech. I didn't see any Nazi symbols. In fact, I heard people who were clearly organizers urging the protesters not to engage in violence, not to react violently to the police violence.

uh, oppression that they were experiencing. And so what I saw on the, the, the pivotal moment when the police were actually physically removing them from the streets was not at all consistent with the narrative. And I was one of the few people on the left. I'm still to this day upset about this. I was one of the few people on the left who condemned, uh,

Trudeau's invocation of the Emergencies Act. And sure enough, even though many people on the left were saying this is exactly what is needed, the government has to take drastic measures. You know, last year, a Canadian court ruled that the use of the Emergencies Act violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is our equivalent of the Bill of Rights.

So, you know, I do feel in a, you know, in a way vindicated by that, but it doesn't, it's really small consolation because at the end of the day, Trudeau got away with it. He got away with draconian measures. He got away with it, you know, stifling our free speech and they've escalated that.

They got away with that and now we're seeing an even more repressive environment in Canada around the genocide and around this depraved proxy war that is escalating in Ukraine. So, Dmitry, what do you think, why is, I always consider myself a member of the left,

But the left left, the left is now right authoritarian. So if you if you consider yourself to be a lefty in Canada and you are on the side of the cops in this protest or you're on the side of the cops during the truckers COVID protest, you're not on the left anymore. You are siding with the authoritarians. You're siding with the with the oppressors. So how do you how do we first of all, how do you how do you think that happened? How did those people lose all connection to their actual lefty values?

And what kind of mental gymnastics do they have to do to pull that off? You know, I don't know, Jimmy. It's been a mystery to me. You know, people in this country should know, based upon decades of experience, that our politicians are shameless liars. And they've been telling us all along they invoke the language of progressivism.

They use this humane rhetoric to explain their support even for Israel or for the corrupt far-right Ukrainian regime. And I've seen a lot of people on the left, people who profess to be leftists, being sucked in by this propaganda system. And all I can tell you is I go back to that seminal work by Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman, which talked about the efficacy of the propaganda system in the West.

As much as we may be cognizant of it, it is really powerful. And even those of us who are kind of vaguely aware that it's out there and that it's influencing public opinion fall victim to it with far too great a frequency. And if we don't get our heads out of our asses, we're not going to have any freedom left very soon.

Yeah, I don't see much hope for the people who consider themselves traditional lefties. All the all the screaming about civil rights and all the standing up for a free speech has come from people who are considered conservatives.
