Cultivating empathy for others is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. Empathy develops from self-awareness, so in this episode we talk about 4 ways we can help our kids become aware of the needs of those around them. And while awareness is a great first step, we also explore how our children can take that awareness further and stand up for those in need.
Listen in to hear why it’s so important for us to regularly discuss feelings with our children and to help them self-regulate so they can access empathy (spoiler - they literally can’t think about how others are feeling in the midst of a conflict!). I also explain the power of noticing and encouraging their empathetic behavior and certain things we can model as parents to teach our kids empathy.
