Anna felt a heavy pressure on her chest and the room suddenly grew darker while she was alone in an upstairs room. Later, she was pushed out of a room by an unseen force.
The building was razed to make room for new construction, but the bar will relocate to Florence, Kentucky, while preserving the infamous well known as Hell's Gate.
The caller heard a human-like whistle in the woods at night, which was not a bird's sound and seemed to be trying to get their attention.
The whistle was unsettling and triggered a strong adrenaline response, making the caller feel danger and prompting them to leave the area quickly.
Johnny saw a glowing object in the sky that changed direction, hovered, and then disappeared. It had a central glow and four protrusions resembling wings.
Gary found a dragonfly on his arm while visiting his son's grave during a storm. The dragonfly flew to the headstone, which he interpreted as a message from his son.
Laura's sister saw a full-body gray alien in the corner of her room, glowing with an orange light. Both she and her friend described the same being the next morning.
New Mexico has a long history of UFO and alien encounters, including the Roswell incident and numerous other sightings, making it a hotspot for extraterrestrial activity.
Maddie saw a shadowy figure fall diagonally from the ceiling to the floor, which startled her and her dog. The incident occurred in the guest bedroom at 2 a.m.
Jake was punched by a man who tried to take his dog. The man had no eyes, just smooth skin where his eyes should have been, which left Jake feeling a sense of dread.
Cryptothammos is a rare birth defect where the eyes are covered by smooth skin. While it could explain the eyeless man, it doesn't account for how he could see or function normally.
The legend tells of faceless individuals living in a barn in Connecticut, with no eyes, nose, or ears, only a mouth. They are said to go out at midnight for fresh air.
The caller saw a black coyote crossing the road, which they found unusual as they had never heard of anyone seeing a black coyote before.
An albino mountain lion cub was born in a Nicaraguan zoo, which is extremely rare since mountain lions typically don't have the genes for albinism.

Good evening and welcome to Monsters Among Us. I'm your guide, Derek Hayes. Welcome back, everyone.
It's great to have you here with us this evening as we rummage through a pile of paranormal parables. Now I have one hell of a show set up for you tonight. Calls of strange UFOs, mysterious creatures, ghostly apparitions, aliens, Bigfoot, and much more. So if you came here hoping to get your hair raised, you chose the right place.
And we're going to jump right into it this evening with a story about a centuries-old bar in the state of Pennsylvania. Anna, thanks for kicking us off tonight.
Hi, my name is Anna. Mine is a paranormal incident that happened to me, one of a paranormal incident that happened to me. There is a local bar not far from my house. I live in a very small community in northwestern Pennsylvania. It's a very, very old establishment. It actually has ties to the Underground Railroad. It was a bar at the time. Back in the day, it was a hotel, which Reacher's has
that it was brothel. The woman that owned this bar, her ex-husband at the time, was a police officer. And a lot of the activity picked up when he happened to be in the establishment. Things like he would hear voices,
things being moved. One night he was counting the register alone by himself and he felt somebody tap him on the shoulder to turn around to find some no one there. But one night I was there and I had asked the owner if I could go upstairs because it was like upstairs was empty and just, you know, kind of chill out for a little bit, see if anything. And she gave me permission. So I went up and
They kind of, you go up a set of stairs and there's a landing and you can either go to the left or the right. There's rooms on the left side up a set of stairs and there's rooms on the right side up a set of stairs. So I went to the left and walked up and, you know, just empty rooms with some old stuff in them and...
I really know noises, know anything. So I went down and I went up the other side of the steps and went to the other four rooms that were on the other side. And I walked into one of the rooms that had a bed in it. And the only light that's in the room is an outside security light. So it was fairly dark in the room. And I'm sitting on the bed and I proceed to ask, is there anybody here that would like to speak to me? And I just sat there for a little while and sat there and
I repeated, "Is there anyone here that would like to speak to me?" And I instantly felt the room get darker. Like, the light from outside just kind of started to get dimmer and dimmer and dimmer. And before I knew it, the room was almost black. And suddenly I felt a very heavy, like, pressure on my chest.
Like enough it felt like someone was sitting on me. And I sat there for several minutes and finally I'm like, okay, if you don't want me here, then that's fine, I'll leave. So I left. Well, when I came back down, I had told my husband what had happened and my husband didn't believe me. So he decided he wanted to go back up with me. And we went up.
And nothing much, nothing major happened or anything like that. So, you know, he's not a believer. And so we went back down and a few hours later I decided, you know, I'm going to go back up again. So I went back up again. And this time I went to the side that had the four rooms to see if I could have the same experience, but nothing happened. So I proceeded to go down the steps and up the other set to the left and
and went down to the rooms that were down there, and the very last room, as I walked past the room, I thought I heard footsteps.
So I took a few steps backwards, and I looked into the room, didn't see anything. So I asked if anyone was here. Is there anyone that wants to speak to me? Is there anyone there? With no response. And I proceeded to step in the room. And as soon as I took one step into that room, as soon as my foot hit that floor, I felt a hand, a large hand, press against my chest and push me out of the room.
I said, "Okay, you don't want me here. I'm sorry. I will leave you alone and I will not bother you again." The only other experience I had in that hotel, I was helping out one night working and I had to go to the basement to get a case of beer and
I had the very, very strong feeling that someone was behind me. And when I started up the steps, I could honestly feel like the footsteps on the step as I stepped away from it. I ran up the steps and turned around and said, whatever you are, I'm not interested tonight. Please stay downstairs. That's my story. Thanks. Enjoy your podcast. Listen, regular listener. Thanks again. Thank you, Anna.
You know, this story reminds me of a place just outside of Cincinnati that's been on the tip of everyone's tongue recently. And not necessarily for good reasons. I'm sure most of you have heard about this place before. A honky-tonk nightclub that's been in business since before I was born. Well, no, sadly, Bobby's Infamously Haunted Bar is no more. It was razed earlier this year to make room for new construction.
Here is local coverage from Cincy's WLWT, NBC News 5.
A bar filled with lots of haunted history is making a temporary move here. Don't worry, they're going to be back. Bobby Mackey is announcing it will be moving from Wilder, Kentucky to Florence, Kentucky. The original building is more than 100 years old. They're relocating so that the building can be torn down and rebuilt. But the bar has a reputation, of course, for being haunted and has also been dubbed the most haunted nightclub in America.
And you might be wondering what will happen to all the ghosts in the world's most haunted nightclub. Well luckily, also courtesy of WLWT, Bobby himself answers that question. The question that most people have is what am I going to do with the ghost? And I guess whatever the ghosts want to do. But I'm going to leave the well exposed, the well that's known as Hell's Gate.
and everybody that's come there and investigated who say that the place is active with spirits. But I don't worry about that. I worry about the music. But that is a part of the place. So I don't worry about all that, but I am going to leave the well exposed so people can see it when they come in the new nightclub. Now sadly, I never had an opportunity to visit the original building. But I'm happy to know that if I ever make it down that way, I'll still be able to see the infamous well.
a well they call a portal to hell and the epicenter for a majority of the activity there in the building now hopefully your historic bar does not meet the same fate anna we need to do what we can to preserve these locations before they're all gone and thank you again for calling in now don't even think about touching that dial we have all kinds of terror in store for you right after these messages
They've all lost something. Can we just play it as players ready?

From a haunted nightclub to a strange occurrence in the forest. Please welcome Anonymous to tonight's program.
Hey Derek, this happened just a few days ago. It takes place in Southern Ohio, just a little east of Cincinnati. I was going to a friend's house and I'd talked to them before about how, you know, I like the White Walker stories, you know, White Walkers or the Rakes or whatever they happen to be called on whichever podcast I happen to be listening to. That wasn't really on my mind at the time, but we've just had those conversations in the past.
So I'd just driven down from like Cleveland area and I was on my way home and was stopping over to do a favor. And I had a monster energy drink.
And those tend to kind of hit me in the bladder suddenly. So I'm driving along. It hits me all of a sudden, and I need to stop and pull over, but there's nothing around. So I find a dark side road. I'll pull down that, and I go down about, it's maybe about a quarter of a mile or so until the first house. Turn around in the driveway, and I make it about an eighth of a way back, so about half of the way back.
to the main road and I pull over and I go behind the truck and while I'm there I hear a whistle in the woods sounded like a human whistle but the thing is it was like 9 30 at night and I was about an eighth of a mile away from the nearest house and
And I know it wasn't a bird. It didn't sound like a bird. Birds have that same sound, the same song they sing. This wasn't that. It was changing up. And it was very much a human-ish whistle. So it wasn't like you hear in the Bigfoot stories, the deep, you know, guttural, whatever sound or anything like that. I can't whistle, but I can try to mimic it. And it was very much trying to get my attention. So it was like...
You know, kind of like that. No bird makes a sound like that. And it was weird. Definitely something trying to get my attention. I've been shot at. I've been blown up. And I reacted with less adrenaline than
to those situations and I did this. My hackles went up. I started shaking. I needed to get out of there right then because something seemed off and bad and dangerous. So I got around the truck really fast, hopped in, hit the lock and took off. And since I've been thinking about it, I wish I'd taken my flashlight and looked in the woods. But that same friend that I've talked to about this before, she said there's a few rules out there. Like not all trees are your friends. But the one that
We're spending a lot of time in the Cincy area tonight.
And I didn't do it on purpose, but as a huge fan of the city and of its sports teams, I'm okay with that. And thank you, caller, for sharing your experience. Well, let's first start with the whistling aspect of this. Of course, some birds can whistle. So can elk and woodchucks, or groundhogs as they're known back in Ohio.
But you know it's also been long rumored that Sasquatch too can whistle. And it's often posited that they do so to communicate long distances. Or to warn trespassers that they're about to rip someone's arms off and beat them to death with them. Sasquatch stuff. And you know the location of this experience also holds water. According to the BFRO, a site we turn to quite often, Ohio is number four among Bigfoot sightings in the country.
which I think is rather significant. And you know, there's a place 20 miles east of Cincinnati that has a whole slew of reports. East Fork State Park, a large lake in a wilderness area just north of the Ohio River. And while we didn't find any evidence that suggests the Sasquatch of that area whistle, we did find some audio that I thought was kind of interesting.
The following clip was recorded on September 16th of 2021 at 8:13 in the evening, just about a mile and a half east of the lake. I'll play the original, then a version where I amplify the pertinent parts afterward. I sure don't know what that is, but I wouldn't want to hear it while I was walking in the woods.
Now I've linked to the full BFRO report over in the show notes. The video is a full minute long, so there's more to hear, if you dare. You know, as I was preparing that call for this week's episode, I also stumbled across this entry that seems to have been submitted from the same area that our previous caller had his experience. So give this a listen. Is this all just a coincidence? Or is there something large and hairy?
Roaming the forests of Southwestern Ohio. Tyler from the Buckeye State. Welcome to the show.
Hey, my name is Tyler. I'm from Cincinnati. And I'm calling in regarding my Bigfoot story I had back in high school. Like I said, I'm from the Cincinnati area. And back in 2015, me and my buddy, we were coming home from, I believe it was Walmart. And we were taking the back roads back to my house. And coming on the road, the two-lane road, we see a car coming towards us.
And at first they started to slow down and we're like, well, that's pretty weird. What are they doing? But neither one of us said anything to each other. We just looked at each other. And then after we got done looking at each other, the car just sped off and drove along right next to us. Me or my buddy didn't say anything and we're just like, well, that was creepy.
Or I thought that was creepy. And then we get closer to where they had originally stopped. And this thing runs across the road and like easily had taken maybe two steps across the road and over the guardrail. And it grabbed onto a tree and had looked over to us and then jumped into a creek bed that was right there.
And in the process, once it jumped in the creek bed, both me and my buddy, we looked at each other and we screamed like little girls. And he took off past where it was. And then the next day we came in and there were large footprints in the snow because it was snowing. We thought it was weird. Our family and friends didn't make fun of us for this.
encounter because they don't believe that we had it. I'm going to say it was Bigfoot, but it was gray. It was gray. It looked like an old Bigfoot. It was real tall, probably about eight feet, nine feet tall. But yeah. Well, I hope you enjoyed my story. Like I said, again, my name's Tyler. I'm from Simphe. Talk to you later. Bye. Thank you, Tyler. You know, people are always happy to poke fun at witnesses. That is until it happens to them.
Now, I don't know that you saw a Bigfoot that night, Tyler. Maybe you did. But I believe that you saw something that you couldn't explain. And we appreciate you taking the time to share it here with us. Oh, and be sure to submit that report to the BFRO. People like me rely on that information. And it would be great to have all the data points possible available to us. It's going to be your Christmas. I actually have one. I'm wearing it.

Hi Derek, long time listener, first time caller. I'm Johnny from England, Preston. I'm actually on holiday in Tenerife at the minute and yeah, well this happened, god, about two, three hours ago. I was on a run, like I had to premise it's pretty hot here in December, it's 27 today, so I like to run. I run in the morning or I run at night. So I go for a run tonight.
I've done about 10 mile and I was in a place that was pitch black, absolutely pitch black. So I'd done 10 miles, I thought, right, I'll stop. I'll do a bit of stargazing. So I'm sat there watching stars completely by myself. I hadn't seen anybody for half an hour, 45 minutes, maybe, something like that. And I'm just looking up at something and I noticed, well, I thought it was like a shooting star or a meteorite, you know, like skimming across the atmosphere because it was coming down.
So I'm still there watching and I thought, "Oh, I get a picture of it." And as soon as I get my phone out to get a picture, it does a 90 degree angle and stops. And I'm like, "Okay." And I put my phone away and it carries on. It carries on dropping. At this point I'm like, "Whoa, what is going on?" So I put my phone away to watch it and it carries on coming down and
I don't know, it could have been a drone but I'm sat there, I'm looking at this section of the sky and I didn't see anything go up. There was nobody around me, I couldn't see anybody. You know, like the brightness of a remote control. Anyway, so I'm watching this thing and then as it drops it just stops and when it stops I get a look at it, like a bit I can see it, I can see what it is. Distance, I couldn't tell you.
It could have been 100 meters away. It could have been about three or four miles. It looked far away because like I said, I seen it coming out of the sky. I was watching stars and it was coming out of the sky. So this thing stops in the air and I could see it was like a large, like it had a glowing bit in the middle. And then it seemed to have, I don't know. I don't mean to say wings. I don't know what they were. There was four things coming off it, two on either side,
and it just hovered there it just stopped so at this point i'm like right what's going on so i uh well i'll be honest with you i got scared i got scared so i was like right i need to get closer to population so and or just to say as well i looked at my time i'm like right if this thing's gonna induct me i need to know so i looked at the time it was 7 42.
So, I've got about a mile and a half, two miles until I'm back in civilised population. So I'm walking down this coast road and I'm keeping my eye on it. I'm making sure I can see this thing just to keep it there. I wish I'd have seen somebody so I can just point at them. Can you see what I'm seeing up there? So anyway, I'm walking, I'm walking and I'm doing my best to keep my eyes on this thing and then
there's a house like with big tall trees in it on the coast and i had to walk past it and as i walked past it i lose sight of it it's gone like and i saw oh i'm not so i literally run to the other side of this house and i look up it's not there gone absolutely gone and i don't know it it was strange just strange and like i said i actually took a picture and i've had a look at it and you can't tell what it is it's just a bright light in the sky which i'm gutted about
I wish I'd have a video recorded it like the picture what I took is I had my phone in night mode to take pictures of the sky so the picture quality isn't good like I said I was flapping I was scared I'm not gonna lie I was I was scared I was like right I'm in the middle of nowhere and this thing's gonna induct me I'm by myself as well I'm by myself in Tenerife what I'm on holiday by myself so if I disappear somebody's just gonna think I've washed off into the sea
But yeah, so that's my report. Love the show. Love you. Love what you do. Thank you. Bye. Thanks, Johnny. That's not where you want to be when an ominous hovering object appears overhead. Miles into the countryside. On foot. Alone. In the pitch black. Now I imagine you'll start to feel like a bug under a magnifying glass in that situation. Pretty damn quick. Again, not where you want to be.
so the fear here is warranted johnny i think anyone in the right mind would feel a little bit vulnerable in a position like that but regardless i'm glad you survived to make the phone call and hopefully someone else listening saw the same thing it can help push this mystery a little further thanks again for calling it now let's see here what other subjects can we cover here tonight how about something that'll tug at your heartstrings
Gary from Louisiana. The floor is yours.
Hi, Derek. My name is Gary. I'm from a small community in the heart of Cajun country in Louisiana called Lauraville. And the reason I'm calling, I heard you last week on the last podcast that you had dropped about the connection between your grandmother and your youngest brother with dragonflies. My story, it starts when my son, Jordan, died.
I was killed by a drunk driver in May of 2015. It was the hardest time in myself and my wife and my son, my remaining son in our lives. And yeah, we were heartbroken. Well, we're still heartbroken.
Something like that doesn't go away. Nobody ever should have to go through losing a child. You know, a parent shouldn't have to, you know, go through something like this. Anyway, about 10 months after Jordan had passed away, I was working nights and they had a cold front that had passed in March of 2016.
And the weather had got really bad. I was in my office and I could see through the windows the wind blowing all the trees around and it was really bad, the rain and everything. So I decided I was going to leave a little early because the thing that stayed on my mind was that Jordan, the flower arrangements and all the things that were at his grave was going to be tossed about. So...
And, um...
There was an arrangement that one of his friends' mom had put at Jordan's grave. It was a styrofoam ice chest, and it was packed with all kinds of stuff. Like, he would have been going fishing above the water. A minnow net.
to get your minnows out your minnow bucket. Some neon-colored barbers that had some hooks that was embedded in the styrofoam, and it was real pretty. They had flowers inside. Well, anyhow, that thing got tossed about. My wife was there when this woman had put this decoration out on Jordan's tomb, and she had talked to my wife, and she had said, look, she said, I even put a dragonfly in it
because when you go fishing, you always see dragonflies. So a dragonfly was a little, thin metal representation of a dragonfly on a metal rod. So as I was picking up everything, I came across a dragonfly and it was bent in half. And I thought to myself, when I'm going to straighten it out, it's probably going to break because the metal was very thin. And as I was straightening it, let me back up a little bit.
Normally, I don't wear a jacket or a coat. I normally like cold weather, whenever we do get cold weather down here. But that particular night, it was very, very chilly. So I put a jacket on, and I rolled up my sleeves up on my forearms. And so anyway, when I was straightening out the little metal dragonfly, something hit me on my right arm, on my forearm. So I looked down, and...
It was a dragonfly. It was laying on his back and it was fluttering its wings like he was dying. I mean, I've been around the block for a while. I'm getting up in years and I don't ever remember seeing a dragonfly in the cold weather at night. So, immediately it gave me chills through my whole body and I thought to myself, "Is this some kind of message?"
You know, when somebody passes away, I guess you kind of look at these things, you know, something to say that they are okay and that they're still around. So the dragonfly was fluttering its wings on its back, and I reached down and I went to pick it up. It was on concrete, not too far away from Jordan's tomb.
And he took off and got off the ground some kind of way.
And it flew and it landed on Johnny's headstone. And it really freaked me out. So I left there with the sense that he was trying to send me a message. And I didn't know the connection between dragonflies and people who have passed away. But when you said the story about your grandmother and your brother, it kind of reinforced that.
what I feel. You know, after doing a little bit of poking around on the internet and seeing the significance of dragonflies and people who have passed away, you know, I've come to realize that
You have to watch for the little things. You know, something like this, somebody would just pass by and not say anything, not think about it. But it was strange the way that it happened. And, you know, to even see a dragonfly, the only lights that they had in the graveyard were the solar lights that we had put up to decorate Jordan's grave.
So anyway, this is the first time that I've ever told anybody publicly about what took place. I mean, my wife knows about it. She realizes the significance of it. But anyhow, love your podcast. Always look forward to when you drop a new episode. So like I said, it's the little things that you have to watch for when people that you love pass away. Thanks, Derek. Have a great day. Bye. Thank you, Gary.
Now a little context for those that didn't listen to the episode Gary is referring to. When I lost my grandmother some 30 years ago, my mom began to think whenever she saw an odd dragonfly, or a dragonfly in an odd place, it was her mother, my grandmother, coming back to visit. And nearly a decade ago, my youngest brother passed away, and she again made that same association. So sort of a running thing in our family.
But you know, less than a year after my brother had passed away, Sarah and I went back to Ohio to visit with my parents and my surviving brother and his family. And while we were at his house playing in the yard with the kids, a cloud of bright red dragonflies lazily made its way through the yard. Now there were hundreds of these things just flying around all of us. Now I even took a video and shared it when this story originally aired on season 15 episode 18.
Although the video is not all that impressive. But I can tell you that the experience was. And it was really difficult not to feel that they were sending some sort of message to us. My brother and my grandmother. The timing was just too good for that not to be the case. And you know, I think I can say the same for Gary's experience. The timing was just too good. Now Gary, we're incredibly sorry for your loss. Don't drink and drive, people.
And we thank you again, Gary, for taking the time to share. Now, folks, I'd mentioned this earlier in the week, but I wanted to make sure the word was out there. this holiday season enhance your every day with fire what a day we have now who here wants to hear about a gray alien encounter i hope i didn't just give too much away but please welcome laura from the state of new mexico
Hi Derek, my name is Laura. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I have kind of a secondhand story that I hope you can use. This actually happened in the 90s to my sister when she was about 12 years old. She's recently passed away but I hope sharing her encounter is kind of one way that I can continue her legacy.
but she was spending the night at our neighbor's house. They had a daughter about her age, and they were good friends with each other. In the middle of the night, I want to say maybe it's one or two in the morning, my sister wakes up, and in the corner of the room she sees a textbook full-body gray alien.
Classic skinny, short body, large head, almond eyes, slit mouth. It was kind of in a sitting, crouched position, hugging its knees basically. And it was just staring out the window. And the reason she could see it in a dark room was that it apparently had an orange kind of amber glow to it. My sister got very scared and pulled her sleeping bag over her head.
And she stayed like that for a few minutes and eventually and somehow worked up the courage to peek out again. And it was still there, same position, but now it's staring directly at her. Now the neighbor happened to be coming down with a cold that night, so she starts coughing quite a bit. And this woke up her mom, who eventually came to check on her. And when her mom opened the bedroom door and turned on the light, it was just gone.
The real spooky part of this happens the next morning. My sister was trying to ask her friend if she saw anything weird the night before. She didn't give any details at this juncture, but her friend's response was, you saw it too?
And that's when they described the exact same thing and agree that they saw the exact same being. I've asked my sister to retell this story at least five times in my life, including well into our 20s and 30s. And each time, all of the details have been exactly the same.
She's even drawn its face and position for me a couple of times, and it's never changed with any retelling or any number of years that passed between each retelling. I've toyed with the notion that she was just kind of playing a mean prank on her sister, but...
I knew my sister's mannerisms very well, and the way she would tell this story just so fearfully and so seriously has always just stuck with me. That and her friend always corroborated the details, too. I still live in this neighborhood, and I pass by this house every day when I walk my dogs, and it still scares me senseless, but it's just one kind of interesting way that I still get to remember her, at least, so that's a plus. But that's it. I hope you can use this. I love the show. Thanks.
Thank you, Laura, for preserving your sister's experience. Well, I'll tell you what. If you're going to see an alien anywhere, I think New Mexico is one of the best places to do so. Because the state has a long tradition of UFOs, UAPs, and aliens. And here's a short list that Delaney assembled for me of all the alien-slash-UFO reports from the Land of Enchantment. Now, this list is pretty hefty, so I'm going to read it quickly.
The Trinity UFO case of 1945. The Roswell incident of 1947. Green fireballs in 1948.
the farmington new mexico flap of 1950 the los alamos flap of 1952 the kirtland air force base ufo sighting of 1957 the super speed incident of 59 the white sands incident of 59 and the twin buttes incident of 1962 there was the sakura incident that occurred in 1964 and the hobbs burn case that also occurred in 64.
The cannon air force base UFO sightings of 76. The Hickory Apache reservation sighting of 79. The Carlsbad cavern sighting of 80. The Mount Archuleta sighting of 89. The midway videotape sighting of 94. And the artesia triangle display of 99.
Then of course there's the Taos Hum and a rash of cattle mutilations that began around 1970. Plus you have the rumored Dulce Bays, the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, the National UFO Historic Records Center in Rio Rancho, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos. Like I said, New Mexico is the place to be if you want to see an alien.
And thank you, Laura, for sharing your family's alien history here with us. Now let's do one more entry before we take our final break. Then I have a wild one lined up for you that takes us to the end of the program. But first, please welcome Maddie out of Texas.
Hey, Derek. My name's Maddie, and I'm from Fort Worth, Texas. I have been binging your podcast for like two years now, and I absolutely love it. So I don't live at home with my dad anymore. I'm away at college. But I went home a couple of weeks ago for like a long trip, you know, just to spend time at home with my family. And my little brother, he still lives with my dad. And I'm going to be his dad for a long time.
And he's been telling me that the house is haunted now. He's like, oh, I'm seeing this and that around the house. And, you know, I never really put much thought into it because he's kind of a joker, you know, like you take his word with a grain of salt. And so I'm sleeping in what's now the guest bedroom and I brought my dog with me.
And she woke me up, and I just assumed it was, like, to go outside or something, because she'll do that. She'll, like, jump on me to, like, want to go outside. And I just kind of roll over and try to ignore her, because it was 2 a.m. I was really tired. And when I flip over, I was facing the wall, because the bed is against the wall in a corner. And when I flip over, I'm facing the wall that's far away from me. And...
There's this window, and, like, it brings in the light and everything, so you can really see the room even without the lights on, because my dad has all these lights on outside. And I was about to fall asleep, and I saw something. It looked like it fell from, like, the corner of the ceiling to the corner of the floor, like, diagonally. Like, not like it fell down. It fell in a diagonal fashion, and it scared me so bad. And at first I thought I was seeing things, and then my dog, she starts barking, like,
And I'm like, oh, crap. First of all, it's 2 a.m. My dad has work in the morning. So I'm like, oh, be quiet, be quiet. But also, I'm really scared because I know I saw something and I know she saw something because she's barking. So I get up, I take her outside, and I turn on all the lights in the house on my way out.
just spending some time to, you know, before I try to go back to sleep in there. But it's the first time I've ever seen anything in the house. And, you know, when I told my dad about it the next morning, he's like, oh, you probably saw something, like, fly from, like, the corner of the corner to the window, you know, and he just, like, reflected. But...
If it was, if that window doesn't face that wall, I would have seen it on the wall opposite of the window. I saw it on the wall adjacent to the window. So it doesn't really make any sense. And like nothing fell, like I checked. And even if it did fall, it wouldn't have fallen diagonally. It was really weird. It's the first time I've ever experienced anything in that house, you know, that wasn't, you know, normal.
And it was just so weird, and I think it's weird that my brother's been telling me that the hospital went down. But yeah, I hope I don't say anything else anymore. But it was really weird, and it scared the crap out of me. I had to get up and do some things before I tried to fall back asleep. So yeah, that's my story. I absolutely love your podcast. I listen to it every week. Sometimes I just re-listen to episodes. Have a good night. Thank you, Maddie. Now it sounds like someone, something, was happy that you were back from school.
Though I find it kind of odd that your dad was the only one not convinced there in the house. Now if he happens to come around, let us know what happened to him to make him do so. Because I bet that experience would also make for a great entry. Until then, thanks again Maddie for calling in. Alright folks, here's that final ad break. We appreciate you guys visiting our sponsors. That keeps them coming back and that keeps the lights on here in the studio.

And that brings us to tonight's final entry. A real doozy out of the state of Connecticut. I'm not even sure how to categorize this one. So I'll just stop talking and give Jake the microphone.
Hey, Derek. My name is Jake. I'm out of Montville, Connecticut, southeastern Connecticut, where the Mohegan Sun is. I'm a long-time listener, first-time caller. I just wanted to share this story with you. I listen to podcasts every day. I'm catching up on the older episodes. Anyway, I want to share this story that happened to me a couple weeks ago. I took my dog for a walk. I have a year-and-a-half-old golden retriever, and he's the friendliest guy on the planet.
And would go up to anybody and lick them. Anybody could steal this dog. I've said this since I first got the dog. So I let him out one night. It's about 1030 at night on a Saturday night. And it's quiet. No one's around. So I let him off the leash. And he takes off running. And I live in a pretty bad part of town. So I lose him. I don't see him. And I go, you know what?
I'll find him. He'll come running back to me. And I walked up a street and I saw him probably about 100 feet away from me. Somebody had, you know, they had their back turned to me. They had him by the collar.
And my first initial thought is, oh, great. Somebody's got him. You know, because he tends to run off and he likes to go explore and he's a teenage dog. So he's eager to like run and go do his thing. So when I saw this person had it by the collar, I go, you know, I called out to him. I said, hey.
And the guy looks at me, I go, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, that's my dog." And I'm kind of like jogging over, running over to him. And when he turned around, you know, he was quite a distance away from me, he turned around and when he saw me kind of jogging over to him, he started speeding up and almost dragging my dog by the collar.
So that's when it switched in my brain and I go, okay, well, he's not trying to hold my dog. He's trying to take my dog. So I run over to him and I get very close to him. I'm running up almost right to him and I go, hey, hey, that's my dog. Let me, let me say, and he turns around and punches me right directly in the face.
And I was more surprised than anything. So I get into a small scuffle with the guy and the whole interaction lasted maybe, maybe 10, 12 seconds, like very quick. But as I noticed him, I got this weird feeling of dread as I was, you know, fighting with the guy to try to get my dog back.
And I've heard the stories, all the stories about the black eyed people and people with their eyes that look hollow. So when I looked at him, he didn't say a word to me, this whole interaction. And the brief second that I looked at his face, his eyes almost looked like they were sewn shut. Almost. He didn't have eyelids. It was more like in place of eyes, it was just skin.
And I got this really weird feeling of dread and something is not normal, like something is not right.
And as I'm in the midst of trying to get my dog away from this person, my dog is, he's a big dummy and he is like wagging his tail and like almost like licking me and the guy, like he didn't have any feeling of protection towards me. Like, you know how dogs get a, you know, a sixth sense and try to protect their owners. He didn't have any sort of protection. He was more like, just like playing, like playful, almost like he knew the guy and,
And, you know, in the midst of this couple with this person, I got the sense to grab him, grab my dog's name is Maverick, grab him by the collar, run and turn the other way and just get out of there. And I don't know, you know, like what came over me at that moment, something like just clicked.
So I grab him. I'm running down the street with him and I am like struggling to click his leash onto his collar. And he's like jumping around wagging his tail, like thinking everything is game. I didn't look back once this person or whatever didn't say anything to me, but I woke up the next morning. I had a full on black eye, like a really puffy bruised shiner. And everybody in my family and everyone that I'm around knows this story. I had a black eye the next day and,
And I caught one glimpse of the guy and he had no eyes, which just stuck with me. The image of him stuck with me. I can remember his face. I can remember his hair, what he was wearing. I saw him very clearly. I was not intoxicated or on any drugs or anything. And as I looked, it's not like his eyes were closed. I didn't see any eyelashes. He just had no eyes.
just blank skin where his eyes should have been. I wasn't like unsure of what I'd seen. I was absolutely all there and I was sure of what I'd seen. He had no eyes and I know, you know, I've heard of the black eyed children and the shadow men and this guy was a legitimate person that physically assaulted me. I did enough calling the police. Nothing came of it.
But yeah, I've never heard anybody on the show. I've been a longtime listener. Never heard anybody say that somebody has no eyes. It was almost surreal. And, you know, when I told people about this story right off the bat, I left this detail out because then people would, you know, think I'm crazy. But this is what happened. I love the show, man. Hopefully this call gets on it. I'd like to hear if anybody has had a similar experience. Yeah. So thanks.
Thank you, Jake. What in the hell? An eyeless dog snatcher? Well, let's break this story down, shall we? Starting with this. There is a known birth defect in which the eyes are completely covered by a layer of smooth skin. It's called cryptothammos. And here is how iWiki describes it. Cryptothammos, when translated from Latin, means hidden eye.
As such, Cryptothamos presents with fused eyelids covering the globe and socket. The skin of the forehead is continuous with the skin of the cheek. There is an absence of eyebrows, lashes, and gland structures. The overlying skin is fused with the cornea, and there is no conjunctivital sac present. Now if you go over to the show notes, you can see a photo example of this defect, and I feel bad for anyone that suffers from this.
it does not look comfortable but you know there's an issue with this explanation first off how would someone with that condition see a dog to abduct it and also as of 2018 only 55 cases of cryptothamnus have ever been recorded making it incredibly rare but outside of a dude with a mean hook and a birth defect what else could possibly explain what was reported
Well, coincidentally, it reminds me of a story about the Monroe Faceless People. Called by the locals the House of the Faceless People, legend has it that a group of unfortunates live in this old barn with one caretaker who is never seen leaving or entering it.
Presumably the caretaker goes out only at midnight with his charges so that they can at least get some fresh air. The sunlight is not favorable to these individuals who have no face. They have no eyes, nose or ears. Just a mouth outlined with pale lips and bony hands grasping around constantly as if trying to find their way in the world.
That clip from the YouTube channel, Nick Donat. Now this isn't just some random legend that I linked to this story, simply because of the missing eyes detail. It runs much deeper than that.
where these faceless people are said to reside is also in the state of connecticut in fact it's only about a 90 minute drive from where jake was accosted in the grand scheme of things that's right down the route so is it possible that one of these faceless individuals made their way all the way to montville i don't know i suppose it's possible but moreover
It's an awfully big coincidence that both of these stories originated from the same general area. Now maybe we'll get lucky here and a listener can fill us in on what we're missing. If that's you, give us a call at 888-608-KNIGHT or shoot us an email at monstersamonguspodcast at gmail.com. Now whoever or whatever it was that attacked Jake, we're sorry that it happened.
But oh so thankful that you decided to tell us about it. Thank you again, Jake, for the phone call. And folks, that's going to wrap things up for us here tonight, for the most part. But stick around until after the outro to hear how you can get more Monsters Among Us absolutely free. But first...

out of Oklahoma. Hey, MAU fans. I am from Caney, Oklahoma. That's southeastern Oklahoma. And I know y'all like the black cat stories.
Well, I was going to work the other morning, putting this out on January 1st, every New Year's y'all, but I was going to work the other morning and I was going towards Antlers and right there before you get to Cold Springs Road, I seen a black coyote cross the road in front of me. I know what y'all are thinking, you know, okay, that's pretty cool. Well, I didn't know, I've never heard anybody even talk about seeing a black coyote, but
Here I am driving across there, and I could see him crossing this pasture, and I was like, man, there's no way that's a black coyote, you know, because I've never heard anybody see him. I was like, well, and I kept looking at him, and he crossed the road right in front of me, and sure enough, it was a black coyote, as black as it could be. So I've done some research on it, and the Indians say they're tricksters, so the black ones are, so I don't know. Thank you. Bye. Thank you, caller.
Now, while a black coyote might be unusual, I don't know that it's supernatural. However, it does give me the opportunity to segue into something I found the other day while researching for Monsters Among Us Jr. In the past, I talked about how mountain lions or cougars do not seem to have the genes that make them albino or melanistic.
Then, a few years ago, a trail cam photo emerged of an all-white cougar taken somewhere down in Brazil. A link to that photo is in the show notes. And while searching for that photo, for the research that I was doing, I discovered another albino mountain lion was recently born in a Nicaraguan zoo. Now this actually happened over a year ago, but I'm just now finding out. So go to the show notes and have a look. It's a cute little thing.
and they call the female cub it's a which is mayan for gift from god now i just thought this was too cool not to share with you guys especially given the history of the subject so go hit up those show notes or the description under this episode's post and take a look little things like this make all those abc calls we receive that much more believable and thank you again caller for giving me a chance to discuss it
Alright you animals, it's time to go beyond the monsters among us after show that we do each and every Thursday. Either way, joining the Beyond gets you access to calls like Elizabeth's out of the show-me state of Missouri.
Hi, Derek and Amongsters. My name is Elizabeth. I'm from a tiny town called Kearney, Missouri, which is just north of Kansas City. And I have a lot of stories.
But none of them I directly observed because a lot of spooky stuff seems to happen around me. But I'm blind to it most of the time. I just have a lot of friends that can see that stuff and tell me after the fact. And I'm like, oh, dang, what? A ghost was following me? Anyway, so I grew up in my parents' house just north of KC. And...
It was always kind of spooky. I don't know, there's just something often as a little girl, like by myself in the house, I would just get really bad sides. And there were a few different incidents. Like there was one time I was in the basement and I was messing with the breaker boxes. I can't remember what I was doing.
