William Mackey's experience in the marshes resembled a time travel event because he witnessed a series of events from the late 17th century, including gunshots, a burning cottage, and a cavalry squad, which his father later confirmed had actually happened over 150 years earlier.
The ghost of Provost Marshal Welch haunted Dug Hill Road because he was murdered by three deserters from the Union Army during the Civil War. The deserters, who were not punished, led to Welch's ghost appearing on the road, searching for justice.
The workers at the old Royal Ascot Hotel experienced paranormal activity, including ghostly footsteps and a spectral horse, because the hotel was being demolished, and the ghostly horse was believed to have worked hard to build the hotel and was now haunting the men who were pulling it down.
