In this episode, we hear from thru-hiker founder, and soon to be triple-crowner, Cheer, as she continues her 2023 thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail!
Week 7 on the Appalachian Trail covers the miles 600 to 700 from Bland, to Catawba, Virginia. This stretch was filled with wildlife sightings including an eagle, owl, several snakes and Cheer's first black bear encounter on trail! It also saw Cheer's most difficult night on trail when her tent broke while setting it up in the rain. Week 7 included a couple of fun hostel stays and escapes from the rain at Wood's Hole Hostel which included an amazing dinner with vegetables from their organic garden and homemade bread and the Four Pines Hostel with fresh eggs from their own chickens.
