Now it is official news that the Head of the Delegation of the Labor Party in the European Parliament Joseph Cuschieri will not contest the election for the European Parliament next May. It was Cuschieri himself who declared his decision publicly during a television program. He explained his decision by saying that the Labor Party has already decided who should be the European Members of Parliament elected on his behalf and the 'Party Machine' is only pushing them.
Cuschieri made the accusation during the "Frux" program on the Xejk TV channel. In the same interview, he alleged that some candidates took advantage of others, particularly on the Labor Party media. Joseph Cuschieri said that he had complained about this situation several weeks ago, both with the Labor leader Joseph Muscat and with the President of the Party, but nothing has changed.
Joseph Cuschieri alleged again that the Labor media is manipulated to favor certain candidates. He said that he is convinced that the people are able to vote for who they really deserve, but not if there is manipulation in the media. At the end of the program, the Head of the Labor Delegation said that he has a job with the Labor Party and will return to that job when his mandate ends next May.
A few days ago, the Labor MEP re-uploaded on Facebook what Prime Minister Muscat had said on the Labor TV channel when they praised him for giving up his seat to enter the Maltese Parliament. At that time, Muscat had described this as a testimony of sacrifice and team spirit. With some irony, under the same post on Facebook, Cuschieri continued to write that "in the coming hours and days you will be informed about the decision of my political future and what led me to such a decision".
