Provisional freedom for a Briton charged with trafficking ecstacy and heroin
A 31-year-old British man was granted bail by Magistrate Ian Farrugia after pleading not guilty to trafficking 100 ecstasy pills and ten packages containing the drug cocaine. Simon Hegarty, a 31-year-old resident of Mosta, was charged with trafficking and possession of cocaine and ecstasy , which possession was not for his personal use, when last Sunday he was allegedly caught with this drug.
Hegarty also answered that he is not guilty of committing a crime within 100 meters of a school or a place where young people meet and of driving a car without a security policy and road licence. He was arrested after the Police stopped him because they suspected that he was going to try to get into a car that did not belong to him. It was here that the Police realized that the car was his and that it contained drugs. Hegarty was granted bail on a deposit of €2,000 and a personal guarantee of €3,000.
Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Simon Hegarty, while Inspector Gabriel Micallef led the Prosecution.
