Shitong She supports ecological small-scale farmers by promoting their products through initiatives like the Beijing Organic Farmers' Market. They help these farmers by acting as a marketing department, facilitating direct sales to urban consumers, and educating the public about the benefits of organic and ecological farming practices.
Organic agriculture, as explained by Tianle, avoids the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, focusing instead on enhancing soil health and plant immunity naturally. It emphasizes sustainable practices that maintain ecological balance and biodiversity, contrasting with conventional agriculture that relies heavily on chemical inputs and industrial methods.
Tianle manages food waste by planning meals carefully and being flexible with her cooking. She emphasizes the importance of valuing the food produced by small-scale farmers, which motivates her to minimize waste.
