Publisher's Summary: Some say, Catholicism is outdated. It's behind the times. It's boring. They've forgotten our story. It's time to rediscover that there is genius in Catholicism. Christianity has captivated the world for more than 2,000 years. Look a little closer, and you'll see that it is the most dangerous and exciting thing on earth. Catholicism is a game changer. This book looks at the big picture of who God is, what he has revealed to us, and how that will radically impact our lives if we let it.
Members Reviews: Great summary of the Bible and motivational This is a great book which gives a nice overview of "salvation history" in a way that anybody can understand and relate to. I would say the later parts of the book are intended to motivate Catholics specifically, but I think all people would benefit from listening to this book.
Excellent book - not too boring! What made the experience of listening to Your God Is Too Boring the most enjoyable? Jon Leonetti has a way of making the difficult seem within reach. He has made things that I have wondered about my entire life seem simple and normal. Impressive!
Passionate Catholic Apologetics Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? This is a book of Catholic apologetics, but could easily be enjoyed by other Christians. This book is a "big picture" book like Scott Hahn's "Reasons to Believe" or Patrick Madrid's "Envoy for Christ" (both available through Audible), but for a YA crowd. It is an easy listen, with an enthusiastic and unpretentious presentation. But that should not mean "simple". The book is written from someone who is well-informed both about his Faith and who is also trying to apply that Faith in his daily life. Leonetti presents a good overall summary of the Faith in the early chapters, and then he moves to a call for action to live the Faith as the book comes to a conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. What was one of the most memorable moments of Your God Is Too Boring? When talking about his speaking at Parish Missions, Leonetti talks about how he might feel foolish. Leonetti says that he would rather be a fool for Christ than a fool for something else. Well said. Which scene was your favorite? From Chapter 9: "Faith without prayer is nothing but a hobby. Prayer is spelled T-I-M-E." Leonetti is urging us to make time for a prayer life. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? So passionate for God he is willing to be a fool for Christ. Any additional comments? I have seen Jon speak, in person, on more than one occasion. So, in this respect, I am a biased reviewer. This is a book that is written in Jon's voice, and for Jon's voice. As an avid Audible listener, the quality of the narrator can make or break the listening experience. I am so glad Jon narrated his own book. His passion for his Catholic Faith is easy to experience in this format -- much for so than the print version (which I also have). I do not think anyone could do a better job narrating than he did. I look forward to seeing his other book (and future books) in this format as well.
So interesting! Very good and well presented! Loved listening to the author reading his work. So very much enjoyed!
