Title: Joy for the World Subtitle: How Christianity Lost Its Cultural Influence and Can Begin Rebuilding It Author: Greg Forster Narrator: David Cochran Heath Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 45 mins Language: English Release date: 02-25-14 Publisher: christianaudio.com Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 4 votes Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity

Publisher's Summary: Many of us recognize the declining influence of the church today. And while we may be interested in doing something to reverse the trend, few of us realize we are part of the problem - especially when we engage the culture in ways that prevent the joy of God from being seen. Greg Forster comes to our aid by first laying out the historical factors that have contributed to the churchs loss of influence in our society today. He then explores the significance of foundational practices such as preaching, worship, and discipleship - showing how the Holy Spirit uses them to produce joy in us that changes our churches, families, offices, and communities. With contagious passion, Forster helps us understand the impact of Spirit-produced transformation, and encourages us to embrace Gods missional call to joyfully reach out to the world as the bride of Christ.

Members Reviews: An Absolutely Must Read!!! This fabulous book is the clearest, most persuasive analysis of the topic (Christian faith and responsibility in each generation) that I have ever encountered. Before I even finished my first reading, I ordered copies for family members and friends who I knew would love it as much as I did (and continue to do). I cannot praise Forester enough. He doesn't harangue, preach, or scold. Rather, he provides an historically accurate account of the most important founding principle for a free society (what the Founders got very right), why church programs and efforts to "do good" have often done more harm than good in attracting people to the gospel, and how people of genuine faith can, if they are willing, actually live in our culture the way Jesus would if he were living in our skin. Readers who are familiar with and appreciate the works of Dallas Willard and/or the UK's John C. Lennox will love Greg Forester. I urge readers of this review to click on the "buy" button immediately! You will not regret it. This is a book you want in your personal library if you are concerned about your kids' and grandkids' future and about the survival of freedom and a healthy democracy, and of course, about your own spiritual growth.

Solid, clear Biblical thinking on topics ranging from sex, to economics to work! Excellent book! This is one of the most helpful I've read on the topic of church based social and cultural impact. I appreciate Greg's comprehensive understanding of missions and discipleship. You can see the influence of Abraham Kuyper, Dallas Willard, NT Wright, and Tim Keller. I particularly appreciate the sections on sexuality, economics and workâ areas where Greg drills down and constructs a solid biblical theology for each topic. He challenges us to think deeply and critically and to abandon ways that our thinking and practice has been shaped by prevailing culture, while embracing, embodying and promoting the truth in these areas within the larger culture. Highly recommended! Scott Allen President, Disciple Nations Alliance
