Publisher's Summary: In this bold, momentous work, the Pope - in his first book written as Benedict XVI - seeks to salvage the person of Jesus from recent 'popular' depictions and to restore Jesus' true identity as discovered in the Gospels. Through his brilliance as a theologian and his personal conviction as a believer, the Pope shares a rich, compelling, flesh-and-blood portrait of Jesus and incites us to encounter, face-to-face, the central figure of the Christian faith. "This book about Jesus is the end-point of a long interior journey for me." - Pope Benedict XVI

Members Reviews: The power to convert Brilliant ! What academic prowess, while remaining truly humble to His Creator. To not be changed by this book would be impossible.

A useful, though limited, take on Jesus Only covers from the baptism to the transfiguration but raises some interesting points and challenges some more popular understandings of Jesus in the modern world. If you're not Catholic watch out for some of the underlying high church assumptions!

Unbeatable If you are looking for the definitive exploration of the life of Jesus Christ, written by the foremost Catholic theologian of the age, then only this book will do. I doubt if it will ever be bettered. Catholics will be looking back on this book decades from now and citing it as THE authorative work.

Thank you Benedict Thank you Benedict XVI for your articulate love of Christ and your enormouse gift of intellect which you have given selflessly for the spreading of the Good New
