Publisher's Summary: A Skeptic Challenges a Christian is a fictional conversation between a rigorous skeptic and a Christian. The skeptic raises numerous, demanding challenges, including, "How do you know God exists? Hasn't science disproven God and religion? Isn't the resurrection just a legend? Why would a good God allow suffering and evil?" This book is designed for the layperson. It covers a wide range of commonly asked questions posed to those who believe in God. This book is perfect for individuals and small groups.
Members Reviews: Perfect for inquiring minds I very much enjoy how this book tackles some very common but potentially difficult to answer questions in a way which appeals to everyone no matter what their spiritual background consists of. It is well written and covers the topics in appropriate depth without overwhelming the reader. It has the capacity to equally encourage the spiritual growth of a nonbeliever and a well versed mature Christian simultaneously. I would feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone!
A Very Informative and Challenging Read. A very challenging read. Very informative look of the world and our Lord and how many different ways He is viewed.
Five Stars A lot of good arguments that can be used in apologetics.
Fair, Honest, and Thought-Provoking This is a great book for skeptics and Christians alike. The book covers an enormous range of objections, questions, and explanations for both skeptics and Christians. The dialogue format makes the content more approachable for all readers. However, don't anticipate an "easy read" throughout- Dr. Pendergrass also tackles more esoteric objections to Christianity that involve biology, cosmology and philosophy. The book will make you think, and will answer most if not all questions you may have had related to the validity of Christianity.
I absolutely love this book As a college student, I absolutely love this book. Dr. Pendergrass knows how to effectively answer a lot of the questions that my friends at school ask about my faith. This book is a great resource for theological debates and for my own personal growth. The arguments are clear and understandable. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has questions about Christianity, wants to learn how to defend their faith, or even just wants a good read. Great book!
