Publisher's Summary: God is high and holy, but he is also near to his people. It can seem difficult at times for us to grasp how our king can also be our friend. Perhaps no book of the Bible better demonstrates the desire to understand God than Psalms. Running the entire gamut of emotions, the writers of these great poems sought to draw near to God and both honor and know him. In doing so, they aid us in expressing our hearts and minds to God. Hymns of the Heart walks the reader through 35 of these Psalms, looking to the meaning of the original text while pointing to God's majesty and glory. As you reflect on the Psalms, may your heart be drawn to the Lord and may you stand amazed at his love for his people.

Not as good as I expected I was hoping for much more. Did not connect with the author unfortunately. Nothing theologically wrong. Just did not care for the book.

Comfort from Psalms Hymns of the Heart written by Adam Faughn is a comprehensive analysis of the most beautiful songs in the Bible - the Psalms. I have always connected easily the Psalms, finding it easy to identify with the struggles and joys contained within each. Their relevance to everyday situations is, for me, a source of comfort. One can pretty much guarantee finding many moments to relate to while reading Godâs responses, or not â as the case might be. The Psalms are collections of real people and real situations. It is why Adamâs book will be a blessing to anyone wanting to better understand these beautiful songs. Reading Adamâs book I was somewhat overwhelmed by his long explanations, but his intrinsic love of these delightful poems is apparent. I am not an academic, whereas Adam clearly is. His book is packed full of accounts of those by-gone times and could have lost me among his long interpretations, but my love of the Psalms kept my attention as I choose to learn more about them. The book covers thirty-five of the Psalms, with conclusions at the close of each chapter. One of the questions raised is, âAre you close to God?â I asked myself that same question. Do I choose Him in destitute times; downcast times; disturbing or directionless times? No, not always. Do you? I found the book long, nevertheless absorbing. I have favorites among the Psalms and I found some of them within the pages of Adamâs book, otherwise I might have been tempted to stop reading â and that would have been my loss. Well written and I certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to expand their knowledge and understanding of what the Psalms are all about. I received a free copy of this book from publisher Bookcrash in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent! Adam Faughnâs Hymns of the Heart: Discovering God in the Psalms is a great commentary and analyzation on the Book of Psalms. The book discusses 35 different psalms, and it is an excellent devotional! Psalms has always been one of my favorite books of the Bible, so it was nice to gain more insight into the meaning of various verses. The book incorporates a nice blend of theology and thoughtful reflection. It is very evident that Faughn has done a lot of research, and the material is formatted in a good way. You can also see Faughnâs passion for Biblical study shine through his writing.
