Title: Empire of Gold: Foundations Author: Jo Amdahl Narrator: Jo Amdahl Format: Unabridged Length: 16 hrs and 37 mins Language: English Release date: 12-20-17 Publisher: Shoshone Publications Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
Publisher's Summary: William Newell once wrote, "If the keys of the Bible, up to the book of Psalms, hang on Moses' books, those of the rest of the Bible, through Revelation, hang on Daniel; and indeed very many of the prophetic Psalms fail to open to us till we see their solution in the wonderful visions of the faithful seer of the captivity." Empire of Gold sprang from a series of Bible studies on Daniel. The information collated and compiled herein opens to us the biblical books of this crucial time in history. Empire of Gold is a series of historical novels set in the time of a pantheon of biblical and historical greats. Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Josiah, and Nebuchadnezzar live again as Empire expounds their deeds and the chaos of their world. Empire of Gold: Foundations tells the story that leads up to the world war that changed everything.
Members Reviews: A Great Read! Empire of Gold is the prologue to an upcoming trilogy on the life and times of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. It was fascinating! I love historical novels â although thatâs probably not the correct term â the only thing ânovel-ishâ about the book is that there are conversations and descriptions, making it so much more readable than Biblical passages. The majority of the characters are real, the stories are true (and where there is conflict in historical resources, the author has put forth facts to support her choices), and the action is exciting! I found Empire of Gold to be captivating AND informative AND a page-turner. Canât ask much more than that. It was my own inclination to get distracted by the footnotes and appendices â which are excellent, by the way. If Iâd allowed myself to just read on through at speed, the book is engaging enough to keep one going. But I tend to be footnote-obsessed; others will easily skip that step. I bought this e-book myself, but I am acquainted with the author. My opinions are my own honest assessment. Foundations does exactly what it promises â gives you a good foundation of understanding of the era and places and politics of ancient Babylon and Jerusalem and more â Iâm actually anxious to read the next books.
Five Stars Great book.....loved it and will read the rest of these books!
Political associations in founding empires With conflicts prevalent in the Middle East (Syria, Iraq, Israel) a very interesting look at the rise of the Babylonian Empire thousands of years ago that highlight the political associations that arise when powerful leaders look to allies to build their empires. Jo has written a great Foundation. I'm looking forward to the next book.
The Prophet Jeremiah's Early Life The story opens when Jeremiah, an unruly twelve-year-old, invades the stall of an idol seller. He destroys some of the idols and calls on the people to return to the worship of the one true God and not put their faith in idols. Josiah, the king of Judea, knows Jeremiah well because he is often involved in escapades that call the Jews to worship the true God, but start riots that cause Jeremiah to be brought before the king. Although this book is categorized as a novel, it is much more of a history of the time of Nebuchadnezzar when Egypt, Assyria, and Babylon were powers in the Middle East. The history is well researched and there are numerous footnotes. As a history, it is well done. As a novel, the book leaves much to be desired.
