handwash is a stage name for Hon Lam Chan, who was born and raised in Hong Kong, currently based and actively engaged in Vancouver’s vibrant music scene. handwash’s work often explores themes of Masculinity, Asian’s identity as a Hong Kong diaspora, and how creativity has serve as an outlet for personal growth.

As a producer handwash took the name from washing instruction labels, taking the parallels between garments and music. The interpersonal approach to his process of ‘cleansing’ provides vulnerability to the braggadocious side to hip-hop.

handwash draws sonics inspiration everywhere, from electronic dance music to traditional folk music. With the thread of Cantonese he ties all this elements together with rhythm and rhyme.

手洗是陳翰林的舞台藝名，他出生並成長於香港，目前居住在溫哥華並活躍於當地不同音樂表演及場地。他的作品經常涉獵不同議題，例如現代男性主義如何影響人與人的關係、冥想對成長及創作的影響，以及身為離散海外的香港人的身份認同等。

作為一名製作人，手洗的名字來自於衣服上的洗滌說明標籤，他認為透過音樂梳理思緒的過程，跟手洗衣服很接近。融合嘻哈相對較為外向的觀感，在節奏跟音符裡面遊走取得平衡。

手洗的創作經常從不同領域獲取靈感，從舞蹈到日常生活的環境，或從電子舞曲到傳統民謠獲得啟發。他以粵語為核心，將所有創作元素與節奏和旋律結合在一起。
