Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss Rambo: Last Blood. Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) goes to rescue his friend's daughter Gabriela (Yvette Monreal) from Mexico.
Often feeling more like a Taken movie than a proper Rambo film, Rambo: Last Blood steps away from war-torn battlefields. Rambo's life is different now: he's on medications and is helping Maria raise her daughter Gabriela on the family farm. After Gabriela decides to visit her father in Mexico, things get bad quick and Rambo has to rescue her.
A lot of this movie simply feels off. Rambo does not have his trademark mullet. There's more dialogue in the first half hour than in all the other Rambo movies combined. Stallone is great at expresses Rambo's rage when he goes "full Rambo", but the whole package feels a bit rote. The United States and Canadian theatrical cut loses crucial scenes in the beginning that help explain payoffs later in the film.
