Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss the 1998 Psycho remake. Norman Bates (Vince Vaughn) runs a motel and kills tenants once in a while.

Controversial at the time for being a remake of a stone cold classic of the horror genre, Gus Van Sant's Psycho is a mostly shot for shot remake with some dreamlike imagery slapped in during certain scenes to make it more surreal. Vince Vaughn isn't able to walk the line between threatening and charming; he just comes off as eccentric. The rest of the cast does what they can walking in the steps of giants, but the whole thing feels like an exercise to be debated in film school. Trying to remake Psycho in the fashion is a futile exercise.
