Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Jersey Jason discuss discuss Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (outside the US, this is known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Alan Rickman, and Emma Watson.
Having become a best-selling series of books, it was no surprise when the Harry Potter series hit the silver screen. Directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone 2: Lost in New York), this first entry is a lot of exposition. At times, it feels like a Scooby Doo episode in a wizard setting. John Williams creates a series of iconic music themes here used over and over again in the sequels. Running a hair over two-and-a-half hours, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a bit of a slog but sets the table for a lot of the movies to follow. Hats off to Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Emma Watson for hitting the right tone in their performances between a twee children's story and a big budget feature film.
