Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss American Graffiti. The second feature film from director George Lucas, American Graffiti looks at the lives of four friends in 1962 the last day of their summer vacation. Terry (Charles Martin Smith) watches over Steve's (Ron Howard) hot rod car for the evening as zaniness ensues. Meanwhile, John (Paul Le Mat) is stuck cruising around with some chick's kid sister while Curt (Richard Dreyfuss) winds up with the gang The Pharoahs.

American Graffiti has a splendid shaggy dog quality to it with characters and scenarios that feel lived-in and true to form. Helping to sell the illusion of 1962 is a soundtrack packed wall to wall with pop and motown hits from the era. In fact, the soundtrack to American Graffiti was such a runaway hit that it inspired two more albums of vintage favorites approved by George Lucas inspired from the film's setting.

Mat feels the HBO documentary Elvis: The Searcher is a fascinating look at the earlier part of Elvis' career before his love for fried banana sandwiches took him down. Thrasher thinks Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-A-Rama is a quirky little creature feature.
