Pets or predators, spirit guides or instinctual drives: there are many ways to interpret and relate to the images and experiences of animals we may encounter in our dreams. This week, Christian Gerike of Sonoma University in California talks to Dave and Laura about the animals in our dreams and all the ways that we can look at them. Christian Gerike, MA, teaches The Psychology of Dreams and researches Cognitive Psychology and Cultural Anthropology at Sonoma State University in California. He takes a broad view of all the personal, cultural and spiritual meanings of our nocturnal animal encounters, drawing on his work and research in both Psychology and Anthropology, and with a good dose of personal experience and self-reflection, too. For the Dream of the Week, Christian shares his dream of The Mouse Who Asked for Help, and he, Laura and Dave discuss what it might mean for Christian (who even gets an “aha!” moment out of it!). Your dreams can bring you to your own “aha!”. Send a dream to share as the Dream of the Week or for our Dream Lab episodes via the social and website links below.
