Dyson is a maverick company. In an age where everything is moving online and most of the innovations, we see are non-physical, Dyson is always inventing physical products and 'reinventing' products that we thought were stereotypes, such as vacuum cleaners, fans, hair dryers, curling irons and so on, and they are all gaining market These inventions have been well received by the market. Dyson insists on not going public and invests a lot of money every year in new product development. Dyson doesn't outsource production but builds its own factories to produce core components. Dyson even runs its own university to train engineers. All this maverickism comes from the company's founder, James Dyson himself. In 2022, the Chinese version of James Dyson's new book, Inventions: A Life, was launched. Dyson offered an exclusive interview opportunity to speak to James himself. We invited our friend Molly in the UK to do this interview for us. Unusually, this interview doesn't talk much about Dyson's successes but starts with 'failures'. *Thanks to Dyson for supporting this show. You can buy Invention: A Life, James Dyson in bookshops and on all major e-commerce platforms.
