Welcome to another addition of baby rants. My name is rob, and this week i'm here .
with the overstreet. The pin hitting is becoming a little more hitting.
yes. Yeah, not so much on on decks anymore. Just expected up next.
It's just part of the week now lately and i'm starting i'm with you often enough now i'm starting to shop for Better .
lights oh goodness. Well, I mean, I don't know, did you get a chance to hear thoms second update that was part of last week show?
I'm like i'm always like three weeks behind life ounds about right when IT comes to anything at all, except like today as we record as election .
day in amErica IT sure.
Is that combined with my other stress ers, i'm just gonna need the bottoms .
that in the kitchen, on sides. Home theater discussion this week as we're recording this, nothing distracting in the backgrounds or that you know anything that he needs to get out of the house and do later on that we can't keep everybody around too long today. That's that.
But you know we vote in in a shopping mall nowadays is mostly just close because that's our shopping mall are now used to have everything all back in the day, the sweetness of an eighty ninety mall that had every product in the world. Now it's all on amazon. But yeah Normally we walk in and it's just empty like if sometimes I feel like i'm the only one voting in the world. And so there's been a few exceptions in the past where I was a little bit crowded. So i'm hoping for that today and makes me feel Better, at least when it's somewhat busy, I guess.
So I mean, you've waited all the way till actual voting day in america.
So so I I live in alabama and they give us no other choice unless you request apps. And that okay.
Well, we'll see if our canadian parliament decides to call a snap election now that everybody, seemingly including the liberal party themselves, is basically tired of the liberals being federal government at this point, a lot of inflight and going on with our government, in addition to all the opposition, all the various opposition parties deciding it's about time that they want to want to force an election. So we'll see doesn't go on yeah promotion in that campaign doesn't go on nearly as long.
This we have the uncomplicated but uncomfortable .
binary choice inner ice. I think there are maybe plus and minus is to that going on.
But minus wrestle this podcast .
back to be a game red I would say a yet tom materia was was on the show last we giving another update. He and I spoke for about an hour in casing mister and upshot being, uh the the good news uh is that they have now signed a lease, uh, not fully moved in and everything yet, but at least they will have the roof over their head that is not borrowing from a family member and overstaying they are welcome and all that type of thing.
That also means, as domini said, he will have a shipping address that he will be able to start sending out. Uh, before too, too long, maybe another week from now, you know, grants and Grace, there could be another week to have two weeks after to hear this, something like that. But we were hoping for about two week's time as of last week. So hopefully in about a week from now, he'll be ready to start giving out shipping address sed to all the wonderfully generous people who have offered to send him items for free to replace some of the stuff that he lost doing.
How key. And we can have fun with the rebuilding of equipment and and make that part of the .
show wells, as you mentioned, you know, until they are actually not even back in their original place after its built. But the intention is to eventually sell and move to a new place entirely still in computers per flor about about to a new place entirely um that he's not really planning to do a full dedicated theater rebuild until he's in the new new place but he still will be watching .
stuff so still you know he's going to hook up if he gets equipment for at least five point one, he's OK up goods around sound, he's going to be watching movie. So at that in itself is also yes.
but he's not really intending to put back together the theatre that he had before in their place once it's rebuilt. So it's going to be a while before tom has a fully dedicated whole hog home theater again um continuing on the like send which way of saying things. The negative news that he shared last week is how the things that they had moved to self storage, which itself was like forty five minutes away from their place, because that was a little closer they could get when everybody very hurriedly trying to get some storage places, but these storage place flooded during milton. So even the things they were attempting to save, god soaked.
And that's now a third insurance claim that they are dealing with um but yes, to make IT the the sand, which version of things were a good thing on top and a bad thing in middle, a good thing back at the bottom again um he is expecting to be back on the podcast in a boat. I mean, IT was a month as of last week. So we might have like this week in two more weeks with these some like that. So yeah, that's that's kind of the plan moving forward. And that's that's where .
we all aren't to make .
up m like that approaching IT resembling but yes, in other AV rand news, ln I we're both on a different podcast. This we can what what was that all about the you can fill everybody .
in uh D J does is uh annual twenty five hours of of podcasting live and I didn't even ask about bathroom breaks. I don't want to know how that works. I struggled to do our two hour clubs.
Sometimes I was drink coffee right before the show. I don't know what I do that, so I don't know how he survived. But yes, and he he's raising money, right?
What is he raising money? Yes, for a movember that is the sort um yeah movement therefore um yeah like men's health, the issues, raising awareness, raising funds are all towards mentally during the month of november when uh many guys choose to grow their master ashes out. That's the the way of show in the solidity not something that the are I really do as far as the last stash part goes but we are happy to join D J.
On his bright side home theater podcast. Ah he started IT last year doing IT when the the time zone, the from daylight saving time back to standard time takes place, so that going from six A M on one day to six A M on the next day ends up being twenty five hours of the the the saving time shift there so that I would ended up being the twenty five hours of home theater that DJ does. And if you wanted, check that out, go over to his youtube channel, bright side home theater on youtube and it's under the live section tab.
It's not going to show up in the regular videos because I was all just broadcast live. He chopped IT up into three, I guess, eight hour, eight hour, nine hours fit along those lines. And there would .
be what you would have to do on a youtube to put IT on their U. K. I think max is like ten hours or something.
That's right. yes. So I appeared at the six P M to seven P M time slot on the saturday that was the the first day and I don't know when we're you on there .
is I was on saturday night from eleven to midnight OK ah because i'm night at all and IT was really fun because IT was about there was five of us on at the same time. Other people just just hung on for a longer periods of time to me and I got to kick out of because I got him all talking about nostalgic c old stuff is not much. I love .
all the .
and video, and we talk a little bit about that. And I think they they had a big laugh at the fact that, as we mentioned, cassettes and video type that I could just like to reach over and pick one up.
going to be coming up later in today show too. So I keep that prop handy.
go. I can reach for a black and White photo like, right over here. Ecr s like right over there.
So we had a lot of fun with that. I enjoy that. And I used to have facial hair back in the day.
And like the late nineties, when actually started ninety five, look IT IT was cool. But late nineties when, like, go get popular, I had a scraggy goat, and I was never good. I have very course scraggy here, but IT doesn't like fill in nice and dense OK. If I was never great, I always just look a little, I don't know, a little higher maybe, but I made a very good devil one halloween OK because we just enhanced to that and put some my horns on my forehead and paying them my face right. As good times .
i've got the cheer pet hair on every part of my head. So here just grows straight out like a cheer pet. Very, very difficult to manage, doesn't work well for the beard.
Others you have to let to get enough.
Finally just get over. That means it's very, very um awkward phase for a long period of time in between, which is the reason that this head has continued to keep getting .
shave down because you're wish to .
go your absolutely go to .
here for november.
It's it's such a commitment IT and it's so awkward and it's so awful and uncles fun. There are there are answers.
There are products that give your answers. If you need a to lay down, you can do IT.
So anyway, before we get onto the regular cycles of our pod casters, we just once again, before we go any further, want to thank anchor. We're going to continue doing that until time is back of the podcast and he is able to say IT for himself because they really, really hoped auto and his family following the hurricanes there.
So provided him with a solid portable power station that can act as a camping lampon provides regular fifteen amp household outlets and they made tremendous use of that device. IT has been really, really, really nice are having that for them. So um also had some gallium nutria power banks for charging out their USB devices and the other USB cables and hubs and all sorts of things things anything tom basically asked of anchor, they were happy to send to him.
So we are tremendously uh, grateful to them. Tom is a super duper grateful to them and we're onna continue to thank them even though they like an official sponsor of the podcast or anything like that. Uh they they really helped to tom and they deserve there are there kudos will be forever grateful to themselves .
that really nice in a pint for sure. Those little things make all the difference when you're .
in a bad situation is sure that does a it's it's really quite a thing. So yeah, we will go ahead and introduce that. This is A V rant. It's your home theater and A V questions answered.
And to get your questions answered, all you have to do is ask you ask by emAiling your questions to question at a iran dog on that is the email address. And yet we answer first in, first out. IT is by far the best way to reach us question at AV rant dot com.
You can, of course, come to our website, which is A V rant dot com, where you can see all of our show notes. We have links to the products that we recommend, our articles that we're referencing. We have links to our flickr albums where you can see the photos and pictures of that we might be talking a boat in referencing on the podcast if you'd like to follow along. The audio versions are all there for you to listen to gigantic archive, nine hundred and thirty nine previous episodes. This one just page back and back and back and listen to your hearts content.
IT is fun to listen to a really, really old one discussing like hd dvds. That's right.
And yeah, you can find us on social media too. We have a facebook page, facebook to come live you in podcast, if you'd like to see the video, and if there are images that you d like to see while we're talking about them in real time, you'll see them via the youtube version. We have our youtube page, youtube dot com slash event simple is that.
And yet then were available to contact individually. I am raw, but if you an dot com, lee is leave at AV ran dot com. There's tom as well, tom at a vy ran dot com. And we haven't given joe a joe at AV random com yet. I think I got about nine more years to wait.
was about to say if he gets one within the next nine years, i'm going to be there .
is gonna be heck is over on these side there.
But but all all the email addresses are three letters .
at avian dog. I my .
question.
well, yeah, that's right. But I want to give my thanks to a joke snick forecast hosting last week that was very nice to have him on again and filling in there. And yeah, I don't know.
I guess we got social media i'm at first reflective for if you type in that surge and I don't show up and i'm not on whatever social media you're searching for, first reflective because that's my handle. And where can folks find you? Leave if you're on the social media.
Well, I to be honest, nowadays, the only account where are active on social media, where is just kind of open to the public, is gonna the tesla USA account accommodation of the word tesla and text lusa. So tesla USA and know I focus mostly on E V stuff when i'm on twitter x uh, and on threads it's a lot of politics, so I don't know what to tell you is just gonna weird. You can find me on threads or eggs, but it's going to be like psychotic.
It's going be two completely different things. But if here's want to follow along, it's fun. Uh, so come on, give IT a go to get to me about this show. IT is probably just easier to email lead AV or ant account.
Okay, so there IT is. And with all of that introduction and preambles done, we can talk about what we watch. now.
Lee has been away from the podcast for an entire week. Last week has been two weeks since we've heard from the overstreet. He must have watched a ton of movies and T.
V shows, right? Sten, I I am doing such a leve thing the past couple weeks. So, you know, the last time I was on, I talked about how I just jumped on to watch four movies.
That's right. So now this time I watched no movies OK, uh, life has just been stressful. I mentioned my mom's health, and that whole situation just keeps throw a new curve ball. O, we're going there. Got a new thing will try in this week so so that you know kind of puts a damper on things and A D, D, kind of gaza and it's just hard to do so. Uh, just and also I do watching a lot of cable news.
Okay, i've actually .
been a cable news fan if you want to call that since like the late eighties uh, always loved watching CNN as a nerdy kid as a teenager and that that kept on through even after they stopped being news as I would define IT .
and became commented like .
every other new and four people yellow about IT. That's just all they do now. But I still watch.
Why do I do IT? I don't know. I'm probably going to get burnin. You know, that is bright red at the bottom.
Just put the on down there for sure.
So hopefully the LG OLED system of moving things around a few pixel, and I have on the burn in protection where if something is very bright and static, IT will dim IT after a period of time. And that is a nice little feature in in old leds. And so far, I haven't noticed anything at all.
So like we said years ago, I don't think burnin is the fear that everybody has IT would happen. Be almost like a airport scheduled TV screen that just puts a static thing on all the time. You're a Normal human and you're watching some movies and T V shows and youtube, but and some cable news and gaming a little bit, eh. I think it's going to be .
I think you've also follow the sort of setting advice that we gave them as well and lower that OLED rights, said yes. So that IT because I mean, many of the like prebuilt pictures modes. So I can never blame somebody for using one of the preset picture modes and assuming that it's going to be safe to Operate that way.
Maybe vivid. You you might have question Marks around that one in particular, but like many of just the standard picture modes that are like an old LED lightning of eighty out of one hundred and if you left that they're all the time on just one gabled news channel, the aborn in could be potentially at risk. So yeah, we always recommend lower like forty five or lower because that's also more accurate to what the standard dynamic ranges supposed to be.
I'm certain i'm not that low, but I have started with the I, S, F, bright OK, and then I brought IT down from there. If I recall, it's been so long I got like, I wanted IT. And then why would you memorize the setting? right? I actually think i've wrote them down. Like I actually made a note somewhere physically on paper.
not about ideas. Phone 看。
but where's that piece of paper? But I don't know. So I should go look at IT again.
I've a free to touch anything because I IT pleas me. So I got IT just where I love IT. And just like the the room correction and the sub for settings, i'm afraid to touch anything.
I'm afraid to hang a picture. I don't want anything to change just right. So i'm not to, i'm not going to doing thing like that.
Also, I obama didn't play football this, okay, so aren't what to do. Man, am lost. So I have a feeling that tonight being election returns, I am going to be, what in something other than election returns on probably try .
get your mind off IT a little bit.
Yeah, I probably dip in a little bit and probably gonna be drinking a little bit. So yeah.
yeah, as soon as you dip and I think that might be lazy evening, right right there just all shot. Wait.
find out. I feel when I look at this episode in the future.
yeah yeah.
austerity when you go. So there's all my mental issues and why I haven't watch me. But I have a feeling more movies were coming soon once we get .
hope so I I know for effect, you've got a list of things that i've sent you that you could be watching to enjoy. So good to you. Those are always the options there.
So since they didn't have a bunch movies and T, V. Shows to talk about. I will fill in what I watched this week.
I don't continuing on with my lovely running gag at this point. I did watch episode seven of the penguin. IT continues to be ugly. fantastic.
And here i'm going to mention I highlighted data canal in a previous episode where he plays, uh, oswalds b the penguins, a mother Francis. Well, this had a flashback, such pretty lengthy flashback of sections throughout episode seven. And they brought in a different actress, Emily me, to play the Younger version of Francis cob.
And I loved this so much because i'm like, we have all this nonsense with the the deep fakes and the d ing and the C G I faces and weird that that always looks in the mouse and never move correctly and all that type of definitely like, oh, they just found a woman who is Younger and resembles enough the other actress playing this this role um they had the same dialect coaches working with everybody so that he spoke in a very similar fashion. I know actress was very good at mimicking many of the same materials and the cats speaking that and IT works one hundred percent. There is no problems suspending any disbelief that you are seeing a Younger version of this family.
We so actors can act. There's that. I know what if you just have actors act.
that if you have these casting directors, that they can find people who close enough for resemble, you have a good hair and makeup team, and you like things correctly. And it's just these amazing things, these these lost art forms and techniques that went on, yeah, yeah, just another fta tic kept on. And I wanted to comment with the writers who are working on the penguin.
IT seems as though this is just my personal take out IT now, but IT seems as though they set themselves A A distinct task, which is to have oswell and Sophia the two main characters. How awful. How horrific.
What terrible, unforgivable things can we have these characters do and then have our two actors call in fail and Christian mili range you back in to still somehow rooting for them, which just sheer emotional performance is like IT doesn't even seem like they're writing a law anymore. IT seems like they're intentionally writing the worst things these people could do just for the fun of letting the actors bring you back to their side for sure. It's like IT seems like it's a game at this point.
You making a great case week after week for the show. And maybe this is the first thing I tried when I jump back on.
So yeah, there is no way we should be in. Any sense on the side of oslo and or Sophia at this point? They are ugly, unforgivable in the things that they have done.
And yet their performances are so amazing. Christmas, I oi can just lean back against the wall and began to cry. And you're like all that poor woman after the absolutely monstrous thing he just did a moment ago. It's so much fun um so speaking of so much fun, I watched the substance. This looks intriguing .
now i've got to admit i've seen previous for this.
Yes so this is demi more a Margaret quality playing what is supposed to be a Younger more version of the me more kind of Hillary as because this entire movie is about aging in hollywood, particularly for actresses um being cascio and they make a big deal about the instant the memories character turns fifty SHE has cast aside course the meal herself in real life just turned sixty one so even there they're having SHE has to play Younger than he is in real life in the movie about how your cast aside as soon as your aging and so marker quality is is here as the the Younger under thirty more perfect version of the same character that to mean what is playing then is great is here to just being the absolute most disgusting creature that has ever existed on screen and then I want to give a shuttle to yan bean who we never see in this movie because we only hear his voice.
But if we didn't have that voice in this movie, IT wouldn't have been as good as IT is ah because he his vocal performance just absolutely fits perfectly and and really really works well. We only ever hear him over the phone and on one little preprepared video that he may be we never see his face but ah he deserves some credit there. So this is a written and directed recent by h coral uh for J I think because I was pronounced SHE is french.
And what I wanted to comment as far as you know, how much uh, I enjoy or didn't enjoy this movie. I loved three fifth of this movie. IT is a five act structure, and I loved three fifth of IT. I was kind of like, what are you doing in act for um not that what was going on like didn't make any sec because that this is really a 7 thematic movie and a um exceedingly obvious metaphor movie like they're not china。 They are absolutely not just the opposite of trying to be subtle.
They are trying to be as absolutely in your faces obvious as they can possibly be um but are some of the things that played out in in act for I was like everything was set up for IT to be a painful, painstaking um just like rip your guts out sort of confrontation that goes on and act for everything is there in how everything that's been set up and I was expecting this like really long, painful, dragged out, slow, excruciating conflict to be taking place on screen and IT was at that time in the movie that they decided to speed everything up to like double th Epace t hat t hey h ad b een t aking t hroughout t he r est o f m ovie. And I mean, everything this movie was done very deliberately and so he couldn't been a mistake. But IT for when I was watching, I like that just not that everything was supposed to make any kind of literal sense in this move, but IT IT just didn't .
make sense to me why they .
chose him to sudden speed up when when everything saying I should have slow down. Maybe that was the point. Maybe you were like that. It's all supposed slow down, so IT all speeds up. I couldn't quite figure IT out .
though I didn't make you get older.
Everything seems no. But this was like, like people who, for that, the people who absolutely should not be able to move quickly are like running down the stairs and IT just, I don't know, IT through me IT took me out of the movie IT was so daring and string. And then the fifth act, the very final scene of this movie I loved.
Clearly, they had, they had written the final scene of this movie before they began this entire process, unlike sun movies that we see today, where they are clearly figuring things out on the fly. Um but this goes into complete and other and honestly, quite traditionally french SAT tier and a surrealism is completely go, which again is completely intentional. But IT went so far into the like school by do monter type of acting that I was just like, I don't know, I don't know. I don't think I can say, yeah, I like I I quit heg still liking what i'm seeing on this screen at this moment.
It's almost making you talk like shaggy.
So so ah yes so I think I like I love like I say three fifty of this movie and then I kind of lost me towards the end just in terms of emotion spots. But um yeah I mean everything that's being said so overtly about how horrible hollie wood can be and uh and the way people feel and yes I mean yes yes, to me, more character makes every possible bad wrong decision they're not trying to shy away from.
SHE had every opportunity at every of this movie to make one Better choice that would have avoided everything horrible that's go wake on in here. But I mean, that's not the point of the move. We've all .
watched people in our lives do the same thing. You just make one Better decision wants you.
That's what IT is. I mean, i've purposely left out be every bit of plot detail that I can I don't want to boil anything about this uh but ah what I absolutely want to comment on on the technical side because I mean it's shot very nicely. The colors are viva vivid. Um IT is obvious that do you member that um like kind of techno B A song, uh just called satisfaction where the second version of the music video was just like scant clad women all oiled up using power tools.
You would think i'd remember something like that. But so how I don't .
italian and DJ benny something yeah and nineties so um it's rather obvious that many scenes in this movie and the soundtrack in this movie took tremendous inspiration from that video in particular as sub of IT is almost one for one recreation. Let's going on there. Both the the music ended, the type shots that are going on and the scantily clad people all oiled up. This movie does not shy away away. I mean, IT promotes graphic nudity, so if if you .
don't want to on this.
if don't want too much graphic unity, a stay away from this um IT is classified as a horror movie, but it's really not scary at all. It's disgusting. That's the type before .
that we're dealing with. It's disgusting or not. So it's up lots of using the end. I mean, you're going to sell .
on this one on the two. So I mean, it's it's a wild time IT is absolutely when you come out like all the spoke, what did I just see? But the thing I really wanted the highlight is the sound.
The sound of this is you've ttl full blown home theater. You wanna crank this up and listen to you because this is like the sound is in your face. IT is so squelch and gross and group e and all of these types of close mike, the fully artist for this movie, must have had a vale of .
a time with with .
the groupie squelchy sounds in here.
So put in front of, can't exactly .
say this is smr. IT is not going to help you relax and you to sleep. IT meant to discuss you and keep you off culter and IT does a fantastic job on the sound side of thing.
So IT is a showcase of a type, i'm going to say a pleasant type, but IT is definitely a showcase for audio. So that was this substance. IT wasn't exactly what I was expecting or hoping for.
I I didn't love my experience with IT as much as I was hoping to. But three days of IT, I was over the moment. So yeah, there we go.
And then I was like, this was purpose. This wasn't completely accidental. I was like, you know what? I'm going to watch another Margaret quality movie because why not why not keep IT together thematically through through one actor there?
So I watched drive away dols, uh, which is written, directed, uh, by evan cohen but this is not a coin brothers movie because john cohen was not involved in this Ethan coen and his wife, trisha cook wrote this movie together years ago. Uh, there were multiple famous actors along the way. We were all tied to this movie, but he never got made until recently.
So we end up with mark t quality and Jerry dean. Uh, this was athon, I think is how her pro ates is uh neighbors pro to australian actress um so this is and I mean this is what even coin and treasa cook themselves have said about this. They didn't want this movie to be called drive away doors.
That wasn't the original title for this movie. And at the end of the movie, they have the title drive away doors, the graphic of IT fall away to reveal the title that they wanted this movie to be, which was drive away dikes and that, I guess, the studio didn't wanted to be called that. But that and they're like, what this movie is, IT is a lesbian road trip movie.
That's what they are like. They like proudly about IT. That's what this is.
You've got one very forward, a outgoing personality extrovert, along with the introvert who are friends but become lovers type of thing. But of course it's eating coin. So there is a crime story involved as they go on.
There must be a crime story involved in anything that came from one or both of the coen brothers. And IT still has the same delivery that we see from the coen brothers, where the dialogue does not sound natural. Everybody speaks in a little bit range clipped, you know, it's humorous and you can have to get used to.
And just put that aside, that's the way everybody speaks. Marbot quality is supposed to be from texas. She's doing some kind of accent, but I did not sell. I'm not a an expert on texas access, but that didn't sound like.
listen, I can tell you that as a southerner are any accent from texas across the south, over the Virginia. It's just wrong in the movies. It's almost always wrong. It's always this .
cartoon sh version I mean.
IT was kind of cartoons, but it's never accurate. I don't know if it's because every accent is always inaccurate. Like if there's a boston accent in the movie, is that accurate? But I think IT really gets wrong when its southern accents I don't like.
i'm not expert. Maybe somebody will come along going to go. No, that was like specific to this one area, really, really accurate or something. But but I don't know IT seemed a IT seemed a bit overdone. But I get I don't think by mistake because I mean, this is you know you think go in and that's the the when brothers when they do things, things are over over done on purpose. Um so this was basically maybe one or two T V episodes presented as a movie.
Um I didn't really have the feel of a film this really seemed like other than that uh I mean I would have to be like you know um T V M A uh cable television for for some of the content that's in here. So it's not like a network TV show. That's not what I mean but it's just like, yeah I didn't really have feature film type of thing and then seemingly very purposely the um the editing and especially the transitions in this movie.
We're like super duper over the top amateur hour IT was really weird like like i'm talk in star wipes and like the you know the whole rectangle of your image like rotates and spins away. And um there are these like psychodeviant scenes with miley cyrus for some reason that had literally nothing to do with the movie. Um yeah was there was to make me yeah there there is some kind .
of od choice is so I can't say I was .
like over the moon about this if IT felt like something two people came up with late at night when they were maybe a little bit altered and thought was really, really funny and interesting but then you see you on screen like, well, if maybe if I was there, maybe if i'd been one of the two of you while you came up with this in to be a absolute riot but here's the other thing. This is eating coin uh you know an absolute uh um uh film buff.
And like every shot in this movie, I think wasn't o mage A A copy of some other movies shot because I recognize a lot of the shots in this movie. I was like all that from whatever and that's from I didn't recognize every shot, but I wouldn't surprise me of literally every shot in this movie was like lifted from something else because I had that sort of feel. And then I have not read enough.
Henry James works to know for sure, but Henry James is is frequently referenced in this movie, and specifically the short novel the europeans um is much here. I've never read the europeans by henri James. So I don't know how much this is trying to parallel what was going on there. But that seemed really important. And I was just ignorant that on me I was just ignorant of what they were referencing because yeah um I don't know the european .
and I kind like the idea of every scene is a shot from another movie. There's a rona song like that where every lyrics is the name of a hit song in the past year so that that could be fun but but oh wise, this sounds exceedingly weird.
Yeah there definitely is some some good humor in this.
I enjoyed the performances because everybody who is on screen and there's lots of camels because everybody wants to work with the coin's um so yeah uh like everybody's given IT, they're all in this um you know IT starts off with almost like a thousand nine hundred and sixty batman countered angle portrayal of a crime that just happened and yeah it's that type of movie so people are here to have fun. They clearly are having fun. The fun they're having is on screen.
So in just that sense, it's fun to watch because everybody is clearly having about making this movie. So if nothing else, I give IT, I give IT that much. Ah yeah, that's enough for that section.
My gunness, we talk for a while because IT is time to thank our listers of the week here at this point, listers of the week are people who have supported this podcast in some way. And there are many people who are helping out tom directly right now. If you come to heavy rant dot com and go over to the right side, there is an image of a cup of coffee and it's a support AV rat.
And you click on any of that, and I will take you a paypal where you can give a donation and all of those donations through papel are going straight to all in his family right now. And he's been good about keep me updated whenever somebody stands in a pay bet donation to him. We might have miss someone along the way at this point.
We don't know for sure, but the names I definitely have A, J, N, S, Richard b, carl r, Andrew h. And gregory h. Thank you all so so much for setting in those donations.
They are really, really, really appreciated by tom especially, but by me as well. So that's wonderful to see that support continuing on if you'd like to support the podcast financially and help us cover all behind the scenes expensive of keep in this thing going. You can do so automatically if you go to patron doc lash E V rant podcast.
We have one hundred and thirty two patrons over there right now. I think because the month changed, somebody's different card required because we were holding and steady there at one third three for quite a few weeks. So check that exploration .
tion date on your credit. Or if IT reminds me, I need to rep of a domain. O shoot that.
okay. If I have a lot of week, I just thought of that. Yeah I mean.
I an email the payment .
didn't work because the car i've had the domain name since nineteen ninety eight yeah don't want to lose .
that all these books but you old .
radio show petron outcomes .
as last if you run podcast that is please come if you'd like to sign up or resign up as the case might be. And that those funds we are using to pay all the bills for a vy rents. So that's very, very nice for people who are supporting us that way.
And then if want to just hand over money in some ways they perform, you can still support the podcast in other ways. And if you do so, we will mention you here. so.
John tea sent in yet another movie code for tom to try out, so appreciate that invite. Gary also sent another movie. Could he sent several? So tom is appreciative of that.
IT is a way he can take a little break once in a while and and watch something there is that's very, very nice. Thank you, john. Thank you.
Gary iron, he sent in a canadian movie code for me to check out. So is that I? He didn't want me to feel left out.
That's very nice. Thank you. And I did redeemed IT work so fantastic. Um now john, he came through offering tom a ferman eight outlets surge protector and older AMD based PC with a web cam and ether net switch and HDMI and ethnic cables.
If any of those items are helpful to tom, he is like that you are very happy to ship those over to home once that shipping address is available to be given up. So that's very nice. John also has a fifty five inch visio T, B and two crown brand X L I eight hundred.
Those are class A B stereo amplifiers he's actually looking to sell those. So he didn't want to just give those to tom for free. Everybody's like all cut tom and excEllent deal if tom doesn't chase, tom has some funds that have been coming in for to replace things that he lost.
So IT wouldn't be completely inappropriate, but that that's wonderful. Thank you so much done for offering those things to tom. And Nathan also offered to send tom a pair of triad bronze satellite speakers.
And he, like I heard someone was giving some some caf A Q serious speakers. These aren't as good as those. But hey, maybe tom, these are other pair speakers to act to surrounds. So the cafs could be used up front. The trial Brown satellite could be used to surrounds.
But i'm telling you, this is content for this podcast at cobble together, a home theater system that's from donations and offers and seeing what you can throw together in an apartment that you're going to be in for a while or our house that you know you're not going to stay in. This is the kind of thing that, that people do. And so this will be very interesting and it's very nice of people's just listings. Everything they can send IT .
is pretty amazing. It's remarkable. So we thank you also so much. We also want to thank people who just send a note of gratitude for keep in the podcast going in some way, shape or form, which I am happy to say we've able to do throughout all of this that haven't missed a week yet.
So john tea, mike h sauce, I grinder, who noted that the costa s in ontario, canada, where he lives, they're clearing out their remaining stock of L, G, C three lead TV at terrific Prices like I ve never seen all LED TV so cheap and they're just like trying to get rid of those three from twenty to twenty three at this point. So if you're in in ontario, I don't know if it's true in B C as well as ross, the rest of canada. But for sure in he dropped into the coast cues like well those are some low L G O L Prices and are going to the wrong with those TV.
No from the c three of the c four was barely a change um but we have more names. Well we have j carl. We have Kevin who says he watches every AV ran epo de and as a member of the two hour pass club so thank you. Hello Kevin coral who says he found the perfect rock climbing gym for tom once he's gets back in rock climbing because the place that he found mounted urinals in the bathroom hide up on the walls along with some climbing holes around them, so that you have to use your climbing skills in order to use the urinal in the washroom. What could possibly go wrong?
what? What does the floor look like in that play?
Don't what?
What does the climbing .
wall like?
And kidding me what? Now I want that is clearly a publicity.
and i'm not including the photo because even without any people in IT, it's kind of grows. So I don't want to include the photo in the podcast and IT won't be in the flick album, but I will never link to the thing that carl was talking about. If you if you want to burn your eyes afterwards that on you, you have to actively click that link.
I'll put a warning, but that still not the end of the of the names there. We've got iron and we have paul, who was glad to hear tom last week during the episode. So that is fantastic. Thank you all. So, so much for sending in those notes of gratitude and a big, big thank you to everybody who continue to listen and .
and in your questions and a quick thanks to a Nelson who sent me an email and he said, my radio voice is a match for math. Tinch comes TV voice. So that's A E, S, P, N. commentator. So I feel a lot of pleasure to do a big radio voice.
right? No, I think he's just talking about the way you Normally speak as well. Practice that work.
I guess you set me in front of A A microphone, and I do over pronounce you come hanging out with me, sit on the couch in the living room. I I don't think I talk exactly like this unless you get me animated on a certain topic. So but if you stick a big fat microphone in front of me at that, something changes and I do have to do that. But yeah, that's a lot of pressure to sounds like a professional sports caster.
Come on. Well, with all that, I think we're about ready for this week.
New you all, let's talk about some news. Uh, first of all, visi R B H has added an additional speaker model to their third generation impression series is a new on wall model available with either there are silk done tweet or their reference folded ribbon tweeters and in either a black or White cabinet finish the five fifty five I W has two soap done tweeters and three, five and according wafers for eight hundred twenty five dollars each.
The five fifty five I W R upgrades to two folded ribbon tweeters for eleven hundred and fifty dollars each. Around back you'll find two pairs of binding posts, and it's more than just by wiring or by amping that's going on there. The five fifty five I W R can be used just as a single left, right or center speaker.
But of course, excuse me, the dull twitter design and the layout of the drivers would make him a really unusual driver arrangement that would raise questions about sound, way and interference patterns. They would be a buffer, twitter buffer, twitter buffer design. That's what that is.
And still, IT would just be a two way speaker, but the two pairs of binding post on the back allow the five fifty five models to act as two completely separate speakers that just happened to share a single enclosure. So these are really A A separate five, fifty five I W R and a five I W R in one long box. So a fifty five I W R and a five I W R .
lead to a five, five, five match together .
as a walk for witter worth.
a twitter worth.
That's what IT ends up looking like. So R B H has some previous designs for in wall and on wall models that are similar. And the idea is that with a part of five fifty five I W R speakers mounted on either side of your display, the fifty five I W R portions will act as your front, left and right speakers, while the two I five I W R portions will act as a split center speaker for setups where a single center speaker, either above or below the display, simply doesn't fit. So more options, but just unusual and watch how you might use IT pretty much.
yes. So um I don't know if or when i'm ever going to recommend this model of speaker very a new way. We actually going to be talking when sauce I has some questions later on and we will dig into this a little bit more because he's got some questions about them. But kind of interesting, they have added yet another model to that impression. Series line up. You can buy a direct twenty five if you want the dome twitter versions, or eleven fifty each if you want the a folded ribon tweet version so not does you put expensive there are only the on wall versions they don't have like a semi tower or gigantic monitor style version of these is only the well multiple versions ah that are available for this five, five, five model of speaker in the little .
bit complex that that reminds me, I keep meaning to contact R B H, because I have some new buds of there, some blue tear by, remember those. And my favorite, they send a lot of little ear pads, yes, but they are just continue now. They don't sell.
We have their earbuds anymore. There were my favorite, were, there were some that were great dense foam, and they were perfect because they sealed up really nice, stayed in my ears, and I could move l on and IT would block out the lawn mower. And I can hear music. However, i've worn those out. I wonder if they have any draw somewhere, yeah, maybe a drawer somewhere at R B H head.
R B H is one of those companies that responds with actually human beings when you call them on the phones. So it's it's worth goal.
I need to check because, man, I miss using those. No one wants to just put in your buds and have to have their own thoughts in their head like that's a nightmare when you're moving alone in your me. So if you d liked the idea of netflix is choose your own adventure style interactive special, but you never got around to clicking your way through all of them, you Better get a move on at the moment.
Netflix list twenty four titles in their interactive special section, but theyve announced that as of december first, only four of those titles will remain available. Black mr. Ber snatch.
Black, black mr. Colin bander, snatch. So .
it's a unbreakable commission. Met kimi verses the reverent fear versus wild with bear girl ls and u vers wild.
Those are the four that will still be .
available right now, right right? And unbroken able kish myth, that was some good stuff. Um the other twenty titles will all disappear. Push boots, carbon Sandy ago. Boss baby, your interactive netlik stories were just too pure .
for this world. Yeah.
what I was a network spokesperson said the technology served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on logical efforts in other areas.
When I was some wonderful marketing speak right there, I I love over its .
purpose to be a thing we could say we had. And now we're going to say we have other things.
We tossed them out there. We got a few news stories out of IT. Nobody watched IT, apparently because I wasn't work deeply on their servers.
IT goes I can't say I played through any of the interactive choose your own adventure style shows. I mean, the only one I really kind of heard about was the black bear episode, the banter nh episode. So they're keeping that one that that was IT like I was.
Only one I heard I was. So i'm assuming that was the most famous of the of them. Apparently that you versus wild was pretty fun because that that's another belt real thing.
So I think i've watched like two black mere episodes just randomly from different seasons, and I keep meaning to watch more. But then you know my whole problem about shows and movies .
that isn't like like individual so serious so you do not have to watch this in order it's not serialized or anything like that.
exactly. So um as per usual, we have delayed and delayed but now now it's time for this question answering project to answered questions. Let's get some heka mike age with the first question to be answered on this show. Somehow we missed mix question that he said in a few weeks ago, but thankfully mike was understanding and he's in in in again when he didn't hear IT mention on the broadcast.
yes. So I do want to just say if that ever happens, right? If you've sent a question to us, if you have emailed question that if you want to calm and you don't hear your question answered on the podcast or like you know, if you sent IT in on sunday night and I don't mention that yeah got the question, but we'll get to IT next week.
Nothing like that. Yeah please, by all me, intended in again because sometimes things do end up going through a spam filter and IT doesn't reach me or emails are getting forward IT or whatever or it's possible I just completely annually misfiled nothing and thought I had written down and put IT in last week. Folder instead of this is whatever IT might be.
Mistakes get made. So that is never intentional. If we missed out on answering your question, we are not intentionally ignoring you, and we're not like just Cherry picking and only answering certain questions.
Of course, that's the norm, right? Places that are getting hundreds of questions every day, they are not going to literally answer every single one of them. But that's not the case here. We're not purposely ignoring or choosing not to answer send IT IT employee ever missed you.
So thank you. Like for doing that. Very true. Um yeah because i've had emails that were intended for lead avia dot com go to a spam folder and that was disturbing.
So I hope you took IT out of the span folder, and hopefully the system will know not to do that anymore. Regional sports networks in the us. Are undergoing a lot of changes lately.
With diamond sports group under bankrupcy protection and various comcast and fox sports contracts expiring this year, several N H, L, MBA and ml b teams are making the decision to go streaming only for regional distribution for games that aren't being broadcast nationally in chicago or mike lives. The regional broadcast agreement with abc comcast came to an end on october first, so the new chicago sports network was formed to Carry games for the black ox bulls and White socks. They confirmed an agreement with direct T, V, but not dish, and with foobar, but not youtube T, V.
They've sent multiple offers to try to negotiate a deal with comcast, but no agreement has been reached with them. So chs n recently announced that even though they are devoting their own standalone dreaming APP, they aren't launching IT as yet as they hope to continue negotiating with comcast. yes.
In the meantime, if you aren't a direct TV or full bo subscriber and you want to watch the regional broadcast while living in the chicago area, your one and only option is over the air antenna with an antenna in a tsc one point of tour. They are only broadcasting and tiny I, because that's the broadcast hundred, and they are only used impact for compression. So not all A, T, S, C, one point of tunes are compatible.
Now that is interesting to me because the original stand for a ATS one point is impact too. That's correct. And so I watched the video not long ago. It's a fellow who has a low power transmitter and ATS c transmitter. He is a low power station and he experimented with broadcasting four k via A T S C one point oh OK and so if your receiver can decode um his method of encoding and he was using in peg for any tried a few others, turns out that uh the ATS c three point o standard for four k isn't actually necessary.
No, I mean, when you think that you can send fork resolution over streaming, that type of bit rate coming over streaming is lower than what would fit within an a tsc one point zero a bits .
per second they have available.
You can do four k resolution streaming at, you know.
twelve over ten, right? And he proved this particular person. Gosh, a i'll have to find a link to this video is so interesting. But IT was proven that you could even do multiple channels and still have them look good because of the compression standards. And so it's interesting the A T S C three point of standard has some advantages as far as reception, especially mobile reception. But the change over is, is, is not easy and IT turns out it's really more about being able to get people to pay for content. It's more about the copyright protection and getting people to pay and is .
coming into this. yeah.
So mike is willing to get A T V in, but he'd like to be able to record some games on A D. V. R so what would we recommend for an atsu and over the air D V R solution? He figures he won't be the only person looking for this sort of solution with all the appeal in regional sports broadcast these days.
So believe IT or not, I even have a recommendation. Okay, that but it's a nerdy recommendation. So let's talk about what we have written down here and then .
i'll take with this. sure. So i'll just say like my my easy go to answer, anytime somebody says I want to tune into over the air broadcast, i've got a digital and tanna hooked up. I want a tune and I want to be able to record what I what I watching.
And Normally, IT is very convenient if you are the sort of person who records things to be able to record one thing while you're watching a second program live or be able to record two things at once. Um that's something a lot of people want. So zipper box is almost the only game in town in terms of.
A tsc three point of next gene TV support and that isn't really applicable in this specific case because they're only broadcasting in ten A D I and A T S C one point o so it's not as though the zapp er box is necessary in this instance. But IT still remains my go to simply because at two hundred and seventy five dollars for the upper box m one that is the version that has two tunes are both of them continued into A T S C three point o channels and critically can tune into the D R M protected encrypted channels, the digital rights management copy protected channels. The APP box is the only dual tuner solution that exists right now. Be able to record and descript those, uh, copy protected next gene T V channel.
That's why I cost what IT costs yeah .
and you know at two thousand, five is not so crazy expensive that I think it's outlandish so in terms of, hey, I got the antananarivo now I can turn into anything that's being broadcast in my area and record to and record two things at once. I'm like that's a solution that covers a lot of basis. Any of these regional broadcasters were to upgrade and start doing A T S C three point o.
You're ready for IT if you already have as upper box and you can add as much storage to this thing that you want. It's got a couple of USB ports or a microsofts ds slot so you can add your memory to IT um as much as you want there and record your hearts content. They're also taking pre orders right now, uh, expecting to ship next month in december, two new devices, the m two and the m three ah now there used to be two different versions of the m one that was the dool two universities at two hundred and seventy five dollars and for some reason a single two two universities, two hundred and fifty dollars only twenty five dollars less.
And i'm like, why wouldn't just pay the extra twenty five bugs to get the second dinner? IT made not that much sense to me, but they're doing away with the single to universe of the m one and replacing with the m two that's gonna for two hundred dollars and that's a single tuner version with not as much memory built in. So like you can only pause for one minute by default unless you add a more uh, storage space to that m two.
They're also bringing in an m three or what they're calling their sap or mini for one hundred and thirty books that doesn't have any tunes at all. The idea of the m three is that any other rooms in the house where you want to be able to draw on the recordings you made on your m one or your m two unit, this is like just a little you streaming box unit to plug in their T V, basically to make IT part of the upper box, uh system. Is that m three? But both the m two and the m three, they'll be coming out in december.
The m one the due to inversion sion available right now for two hundred seventy five books. Um in addition to that and I forgot the image on this, so i'll click away from that. Uh but yeah um in addition to that, if you don't pay any subscription for or anything whatsoever um then you only get a twenty four hour TV guide so you can only program things to record twenty four hours in advance and have a twenty four hour TV guide for free if you pay thirty dollars a year.
As for the entire year for thirty dollars, you get the fourteen day, the two week, uh TV guide. You can schedule your recordings on two separate m one devices that's four recording sii multi eusden if you wanted to do that. So for thirty bugs a year, I don't think that's a crazy subscription Price that they're charging and that's what's going on a with all of zebra box.
So that still might go to solution for D V R in anything that's over the air. Uh, A D T H is the other company that has an ATS c three point o tune that works with the D R M encryption. Those are the only two solutions right now are the upper box and the A D T H box.
But the A D T H boxes, single tuner only. And the D V R functionality for that is still in beta and has beneficially released and still has some bugs that they are working out in IT. So right, this second, you want something that works for everything you might do .
with this upper box, right? So let's say you want a nerdy, dirt cheap, a little bit difficult, ugly solution because you're only going to record these football games OK are you're only onna record things here and there just every now and then, and you don't mind some faculty. So I just double check, check anybody watching youtube? We've seen me looking down at my keyboard and searching to make sure this is still available. So this is a digital converter box from I view and it's the thirty three hundred stb. And I just double checked its twenty five dollars on and they .
have far give them a try exactly.
They have a new year one that's like thirty five dollars and I have not examined what the differences are. Now what you're gonna is a thing that can do in these ten eight eye broadcast on a tsc. One point out IT will record IT to storage that you provide and plugged into a USB port so you um a USB stick or a hard drive.
How do you want to do IT? And i'm telling you, this is one hundred percent manual. You're not going to download any T V guides.
You're just gonna see the channels. IT will scan and IT will find channels and you're just going to see the raw channel number. You might not even match what the number of the station says IT is.
So because a lot of channels are like you were channel six. And then if you know what frequency is actually on it's it's paired up with channel fifteen or something ah, so IT can be very confusing. So you'll have to scan and you'll have to practice with IT.
You're going to going to have to type in the beginning time, in the end time like it's an O V C R, however twenty five box, right? And the benefit is you could pop the storage off, Carry out to a computer and you keep IT forever OK. So that's a thing that's hard to do nowadays.
Yeah because a uh A T S C H one point oh doesn't have copy protection right. Once you have that recorded somewhere, you you can do with that what you please.
right? And these are transport stream file dot ts. So it's the raw impact to just original broadhouse.
Whatever whatever you get on here is a raw following. Go do with that as you please. So kind of a it's a fun different option. I'd like IT because I rarely I mostly got this for local television stuff.
There's a we what we call jenky news that's mind of my wife's name for this this dicky little station we have locally and tusa lusa, we just call the jane because it's kind of hieu. But a lot of times people we know where things about the school system, where my wife works, you know, other local issues. When we were defending a walk bridge next to our neighborhood here, there were stories about that, and we wanted to recall he could do that with something like this.
And you can keep that file and edit or whatever want to do. So there's you another option if you ate. But trust me, it's finicking okay, so you need to be ready. It's not easy to use, but it's only doing IT.
There's a touch of you get what you pay for in this .
instance course yeah definitely you give painful. But if all you need once in a while b inky and manually programme a timer to record a program, it'll do that.
Okay, right?
So moving onto sauce. I uh, so burst up a while ago sauce. I wrote us with a whole bunch of potential ideas for his parents new backyard audio set up, but we successfully convinced him and them that they will probably be happy as buying a few portable outdoors speakers that they can easily move to any spot the backyard, including pull cide, rather than running lots of buried speaker wires and having to think about amplification and distribution in the end sauce.
I figures they will likely buy several sonos move speakers, but they're still going to wire for one pair of outdoor speakers that will be mounted to the side of the house. Given that they might be using sono speakers elsewhere, this one pair of speakers mounted outside the house might end up being powdered by a soas APP. The budget isn't particularly tight or anything, and they want good sound quality, but they also aren't the one pushing for anything particularly fancy for the outdoor set up. So any suggestions for a solid pair of outdoor speakers to mt, to the side of the house?
Yeah, so honestly, yeah, these are pretty hard to beat a din audio S I O eight like X T W on the end of those. But the I O waight, if you go looking for those, they're available directly from parts express. Uh, these go for all hundred and seventy five dollars each.
So that's pretty aren't affordable in my opinion. They are available in both black and White, uh, as the I O eight name implies, IT as an eight inch welfor in there. So they have pretty good open capabilities, is pretty good basic extension.
They also have a passive base radiator on the back, and they are fully I P rated for a dusty weather resistance in that. So they're goods be because these are definitely a top pic by the wire cutter from brand butterworth s he spoke and highly of those particular speakers. So if you're wanting something pretty down affordable, but as know the nice output capabilities, a work is just a regular a one load.
You have to select that because they can also work on seventy volor one hundred old systems if you want to. Um so that's an option to it's all available via a selector switch on those of date audio I O eight speakers. But that that certainly a top pic that I would be considering.
Uh now if you are just striving everything off of the sonos amp and it's a pretty big backyard that they have, apparently you might be looking for something with kind of top and efficiency, uh, high sensitivity that very few what still results in a lot of sound coming out. And of course, there is clip. Clip also produces horn loaded high efficiency outdoor speakers as well.
I would probably point you to their agents model in this instance um just like a uh with the data s there. I've also available in a black or a White finish uh with you know whether proofing on the back there for where the cables go in again, just a regular add load here. But yeah, fee these about ten watts and you're getting over one hundred hundred miles out of them.
It's not too much of a problem going on here with these ones. There are quite a bit more expensive. Nine hundred dollars a pair for the R S M. Eight, hundreds of the retail Price those so you can definitely find those on sales sometimes a little bit less than that. But yeah, I mean, if the budget really isn't tight there pretty nice looking speakers. They are in agent wafers that are not tiny, you know they are pretty big rectangles, but when they mounted to the outside of your house, that's not going to look out of place and I can vote for those. They get nice and loud with not very many watts and sometimes that's really what you're .
looking for yeah but just not tired. Honestly, i'd go that way. You know me, i'm cheap.
So i've got my big SONY jam box blue to speaker that I Carry around now to pull side and that's just what I use. But yeah, you don't want to have to log around a thing. Blast the backyard with those everything.
Next, they intend to have a media room in this new house. They previously had a fully dedicated theater room with a projection set up in their last place, but they've decided they do not want that same sort of thing. Again, they still want a very large display and a full theater like audio system, but they wanted to be more of a multiuse space and not completely dark this time.
So they are fully decided on using a flat panel display this time. Even an ultra short throw. A projector isn't going to cut IT. And you know, I get that, yes, there's a certain impracticality with the theater. And if IT doesn't match how you want to live life and watch things .
and enjoy things, you know how experience that you really using that room very often. And the entire room is dedicated to being a theater and nothing else like I can see that they're now this time, we want to be able to sit down and enjoy movies for sure. That is still a very clear priority for them, but that I could not be well to use space. The lights are gonna on and I get that I totally .
get that right. So you like if most of my viewing was people coming over to watch a football game, we're not going to sit the dark in the theater. We need to be able to see what we're eating and shopping in our faces.
So we need some light on. So they are looking very seriously, very serious. Ly, at one hundred and fifteen and TCL. Q M, eight, ninety one g model, yes, one hundred and fifteen and tl.
IT is the biggest consumer flat panel that is available right now. That is not a modular micro L, D display that over one hundred thousand dollars.
Yes, kind of exciting to hear someone taking this seriously. The twenty thousand dollar M S R P is a hurdle for sure, but Prices with installation can be negotiated. So if they can land on a Price they find accessible, that's almost certainly what they're getting.
Wow, but I want to know more. You have to tell us about this if this is what happens. But if the Price remains too high, no matter what, what other options are there?
Sauce is aware of the hundred and ten inch eysines U X model, but that has the same sticker Price. It's a smaller screen size and he's a bit gn shy of high since and their quality control. So he isn't too keen on that option.
Does that only leave dropping down to a ninety eight inch model? Oh, no. How you can be squinting, right?
Does just that, that only leave. That is the only option if no form of projection is on the table. So we just stop there. An update on that part .
of the country? yes. So I mean, other than spending even wore to go to a microlending display um because the the least expensive microbaLance displays are larger than the one fifteen inch um and they're like three fairly sizable panels that basically like three TV buzz panels that get merged together.
But that still over fifty thousand dollars as as the quoted Price. So when the goal is to get under to two one, I don't see that as a viable alternative. Um going to the microscope ah other than that um no body else doing greater than one hundred inches for less than the twenty thousand dollar M S P M S R P type Price tag. So I mean, there's a couple of options, right? The ninety eight inches can be downright affordable these days.
That is a wild thing to say. You tell me a dozen years ago that that would be a sentence you would think I wouldn't believe .
you and you can get um like flagship quality ninety eight four four thousand dollars pretty readily.
That is so cool.
You know that's not the M S R P on T C L ninety eighty um Q M eight, fifty d two. What are they on fifty one, fifty one, eight, fifty one um for for this year, the ninety adventure. But IT IT goes on sale for four thousand dollars like frequently and that's flagship quality from that one so that you know doing that plus I mean, at that point, if you were thinking ten thousand of these plus, you know you could get like a motorized mount that can handle the ninety eighty screen. So I mean, IT doesn't have to be motorized, but i'm just saying that the budget could potentially be there.
Then you could like motorbike that thing to extend out from the wall that is mounted on um you know that that could be an option that just gives you that larger field of view but doesn't require that the TV always be extended from the wall. You could of course do that with a manual extending wall amount for a lot less money ah, but you know those type of options. So I don't think you have to suffer too much if you go to the ninety eighties. But the other thing I just wanted to mention is there is essentially no question whatsoever that the Price on those TCL one hundred fifty eight screens is going to come down and like as soon as next year's version of IT um because step and profiling how their newest L C D fabrication plant allows them to cut two one hundred fifty or even two one hundred, I think that was one hundred thirty two inch panels from a single sheet of mother glass. Now.
can you get one hundred and thirty two H T. V. Into a house?
Or do I have a double first? I mean, they said how they can do a single I think was like one sixty eight or something like that, like theoretically ally out of that piece of mother glass. That's the largest single screen size they could cut. But there be a bug of whistle leftovers that would would be really, really expensive.
But the thing was, one of the reasons the ninety eight inches have come down significantly in Prices because they got to the point where on their older, existing fabrication lines, they could cut two ninety, eighty screens from one piece of model class with very little waste leftover. And once they get to that efficiency, IT brings the Price down. So they're already there ready to start doing that with the one fifteen s.
So if it's not next year, it'll be the year after the Prices on those are, are, are going to come down. I absolutely no doubt of that whatsoever. Um so if they can wait a while, it's not gonna stay twenty thousand dollars forever.
That Price difference is so great would seem to me you could buy the ninety eight ntv now and then wait for the Price to drop more than the amount of the nine eight T V, and then get the one fifteen or the one thirty two, or what the heck out you going to be. That's the way I would go because with all that money saved, you good blame out the rest of the situation, right?
You, you, you here, the on the audio side of things, it's mostly going to be up to sausse as to what they end up installing. They're set on a five point two point four configuration and loud output capability really isn't the priority. So he was thinking he had set them up with an on kio tx.
In our seventy one hundred receiver powering rbh impression series on wallpapers. He's also going to be giving his parents his pair of rithmetic subfilm that he intends to replace more on that later. As a bit of an aside, he's been talking to Kenny over at R, B, H.
And he confirmed that their new impressions series on war models can work perfectly fine, as in wall speakers. And since they have manufacturing facilities on site, they can also accommodate some custom requests. So if he would really prefer dog lague attachments for inward installation, they can make that happen.
It'll cost extra, but it's possible to have IT done. cool. Yeah right. And and you can see the direction that they're wanting to go is less dedicated, more subtle, more multiuse.
So you not like you're walking into a an only theater kind of space. I get that. Let me see, lost my space. So si was thinking he'd go with three of the fifty five I wr speakers across the front mounted on the front wall as intended. They're the right Price with the right output capabilities and form factor is looking for on behalf of his parents.
As another little aside, we've said how a proper design and good engineering can mean an M T, M center speaker is not always a problem. Despite what might be parroted about mtm center speakers online, Kenny from R, B, share their own measurements of the fifty five I, wr speaker when used horizontally as a center speaker. And they do show a measured dip in the one killer arts, two killers arts across the region between the folded ribbon twitter and the two wafers on either side, but at only at plus minus thirty degrees off axes or a greater.
And even then I thought that big of a debt, about four disciples. At worst, the folded over and twitter does measure as having narrow or vertical dispersion. So ideally, the twitters will be close to seated ear height or you'll aim the speakers by tilting them if they're notably above below year level IT all seems pretty reasonable to sauce.
So starting there, is there anything that crops up that we think he might need to reconsider? The seats that matter will all be directly in front of the TV in center speaker. So it's a plus minus twenty degree horizon spread from the center speaker that matters most.
Yeah I mean, if you're wanting nice, uh reasonably affordable but good looking, solid neutral benee measure like a pretty darn flat line is on access frequency response. You know that's at a Price point that's also on wall um you know and a good design that's like fully sealed and are going to have any weird boundary issues or anything like that. Yeah, I can think of anything i'd recommend too much more highly than that.
IT sounds like they are the sort of typical thing with the saying we don't really want IT that loud but we still want clarity um you know which is what what a lot of people request. So I mean yeah those the rivet eaters that hrb h users, they are a little bit more directional. They do have that narrow our vertical dispersion, as we would expect just from the geometrical.
Um but yet you get that superfast transit response IT increases their seven sensitivity and their power handling a little bit. Um so I think the choice of speakers and and saucy knows this. But IT never hurts to have another another paradise, another brain on IT just to just sort of confirm, but there's nothing I will can change about your choice of speakers.
The only of you I will say is I might I might a consider an alternative to the the ancho and our seven, one hundred and eight receiver just because IT sounded like the room they're putting this in is not small, like it's not gigi, but it's not small. They're not looking for crazy high output levels. You don't necessarily need the the most sensitive and highest power handling speakers ever, but the and seven one hundred gives you no option for adding external amplification.
You you must use the nine built in apps if you're running a five point two point four configuration. IT has no pro ts whatsoever. Um and i'm just like that you know in my mind, if the room is just big enough, if they are sitting far enough away, they're going for this one hundred fifty and inch display ideally.
So this isn't a tiny, tiny set up where you sitting within ten feeder closer of these speakers type of thing. Um I like you know I wouldn't mind the the possibility adding some external amplification maybe um I wouldn't want to cut off that option entirely um for myself. So a few different things that one you could just go up in a anko s own line up if you want to take with anko.
They have the new R Z thirty which is very similar to the end r seventy one hundred but does have the full set of um as well as the option to run direct live base control if you want to because IT has the independent subway rope. What was the and our seven one hundred is an internal life's litter on its support. I don't really think that's the case here, but that's the other future the R Z thirty offers, but also the R Z fifty that came out at the same time as the N R seven one hundred.
It's like discounted like crazy. It's that much more expensive that the end is seven one hundred to go to the R Z fifty. So that to me is something I would just consider like he he said all along, his his parents are doing pretty decently well financially.
They're like all the money in the world that we can just spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the theater equipment. It's like if we're talking like one hundred and fifty two hundred dollars more like, you know, just to give them that flexibility there. I would consider that I would consider, uh, uh, a receive or upgrading .
this case that makes sense. You like I said, you can tell they're try that they're backing off from the full dedicated theater, but doesn't mean you don't want a little eat every now and then.
You don't want the possibility that you like you end up sending a clipped signal to the speakers. You don't want to damage anything here. so. I'm just like given the sense of getting about the room sized, the seating distance in that I like, you know having that option to to add an appropriate babies just for the front three speakers type of thing. But I would like to have that option in this case.
But what's great, as you can tell, sauce, I has been listening to this podcast room. Ah, he's awesome. He he's doing the analysis in the way that we would do IT just to complete the thoughts for the floor level speakers.
The surrounds will also be R B, H impression series on walls, but also intends to mount them in war. And thanks to kenya advice, he's very confident they'll easily be able to make that happen. For the four overheads speakers rbh does offer in ceiling models with matching folded riband tweeters, but they still have wider horizontal dispersion and narrow or vertical dispersion. So for utmost in ceilings sauce, I didn't think that was really the best way to go. Plus those speakers are Priced almost .
a thousand dollars each of the impressions of speakers. Yes.
let's not go a dollar. So he's considering some dome twitter models from r bh, especially if the package Prices includes a discount that makes IT an easy decision. But those are still originally Prices at five hundred and fifty dollars each, and that's before adding real enclosures.
So what about matching the R B H impression series on walls speakers with their folded rib and tweet to our go to image 8 mag eight in ceiling speakers from best buy for emos purposes? Will those remain good enough and are close enough? Timber match. Timber match? Yes, yeah, i'm right away.
They're both go in for for quite neutral, linear, no real particular uh distinct of character to the sound. So for overhead at both speaker purposes, like like we've said, they just need to be like good speakers, just that I have to be like perfect tamper match speakers. They can't I don't think it's worth IT to put in genuinely crappy speakers in your ceiling.
I want at least get them to warm like, okay, that's good. That's a good speaker. It's neutral linear speaker.
You're gonna notice any sort of timber mismatch that way. So I say, yes, they will absolutely image just fine with those sats. Make eight speakers yeah yeah.
So write this second. They're listed at full M S, R P over the best buy, but another sale will surely come along, at which point they'll be a quarter of the Price of the R B H. And ceilings and their real enclosures are readily available again as well. Go with a magazine.
Ah, come on. Yes, yeah. I am pretty darn happy and confident.
Recommended that like you say, if R, B, H cuts you a deal where IT doesn't end up being any more expensive to go with their own insulin. sure. Why not? I mean, it's it's gonna great all around. Uh, yeah. If if the Price is gonna that different for for four of the main gates, I would surely that you not like the second.
It's not as though you can you be watching a movie thinking, wow, IT sounds like there's a blanket on the ceiling. This is terrible.
It's not gonna happen. So ah, we got black friday. Keep coming up. Keep in I out there at best by i'm quite certain those so and make serious speakers are going to be.
say again, soc, I has some more plan around here as we mentioned in the news, thanks to saucy, there's that new five fifty five I W and five fifty five I W R model that's been added to the r bh impression series lineup. In all honesty, how does that design actually make sense? He's convinced at this point that a horizontal M T M center speaker can work as long as it's been properly designed. But having two tweeters that far apart, if you use IT as a single speaker with two tweeters and three buffers for maximum output, power for maximum output and power handling, can that honestly work without any issues with one of the wolfers in between the two twitters? See, these on track is been less.
And and then in the second use case, where you separate the two pairs of binding posts and use the five fifty five I W S, essentially a fifty five I W main speaker and a five I W split center speaker that happened to share one enclosure, how is that any Better than just having one pair of fifty five I W main left and right speakers and using a phantom center? How is having what amounts to a separate pair of five I W speakers on either side of your display acting as a split center speaker perform any Better than just a center? What's he missing? Not much. Um so I mean .
that second part first, the the only thing that's going on there is IT gives you a separate trim level that you can adjust right? IT gives you a center speaker trim level where if you want to boost the center speaker uh channel uh specifically now you have a physical speaker connected to that way. Two speakers in fact, split across on either side. But that's that's a really all that is right.
You you are still relying on the phantom center phenomenon that you're still relying on that one hundred percent to give you the sense that the sound is coming from the middle, the screen, if you are sitting to the outside of the left of the right speaker, you know, having a split center like that isn't going to sound any Better than a regular phantom center from your main left and right speakers. You still need to be sitting between those speakers idea quite distant, ideally the the the main prime seat right between those seats to get that center channel effect. But yeah IT just gives you the separate trim level that's that's really what it's about.
Um while you know giving you the and the esthetics of a single box that you have mounted on either side of your T V this this one speaker enclosure um but yet using IT as a like let's say horizontal center um where you have a buffer twitter buffer, twitter buffer um no IT will for sure show up in measurements, right? If you do measurements, you are going to see com filtering, you are going to see loading. Uh, that is going to show up in the measurements.
Unquestionably, if you have two twitters physically separated that much, there are gonna be sound wave interactions and it's going to result in culm filtering. If you have three wives with the twitters in between the sets of three shifts, you are going to have looping in the cross over region, it's going to show up in the measured. So why? I mean, what's being relied upon there is, you know, just the claims that we really don't hear com filtering unless you are swaying your head kind of rithmetic ally back and forth as you listen because, I mean, i've heard calm filtering yeah, but I have to be physically moving my head and a pretty steady rythmic fashion to hear cold filter in different kind of sitting still.
I'm a figg person. There's no doubt there's gonna times during a movie where I literally am and my head around. So I don't think I would like that. yeah.
I mean, it's like it's unequivocally gonna there in the measures. The order ability of IT order ability of IT. Um is gonna matter a little bit on how you listen to that? Um I mean, this wouldn't be my first choice IT wouldn't be my first choice to design a centers speaker this way.
I don't think they really intended IT to be that. Uh, I don't like I say I I I during the news, I was like gonna strugling a bit to find the use case. We're i'm going to be recommending this particular speaker model.
So i'm there with you say I don't think that makes all I don't think it's a no brainer where IT makes all the sense in the world, but the notion of I I truly cannot use place a center speaker anywhere in my set up, but I still want to be able to independently adjust the trim level. There you go. That's the use case.
That's IT a lastly, he is intending to build himself a pair of eighteen and DIY subs to replace his rythmic subs so he can give the rid mics to his parents. He settled on using stereo integrity ht eighteen mk two drivers, which are rated for two ARM impedance with two thousand. What rms power handling.
Again, i'd like to hear that story, how that goes. So that has him on the hunt for lots of watts, but at a low Price. The top recommended rack mountable amplifier for these particular drivers is over three thousand dollars. And saucy e doesn't want .
to pay that much or not. It's as simple as that makes sense.
I would like pay less than three thousand dollars. So one of the folks at stereo integrity pointed him to a chinese brand that sells via ali express, but saw you did a bunch of reading about the model and found too many complaints about their quality control and downgrade ded into no opponents for him to feel comfortable going with them. Okay, there is the other side of the coin, right?
Lots of lot, not very many dollars, but he maybe too good to be true. I found out of people saying kind of too good .
to be true yeah, probably what IT is. He's come across a number of people who have been happy using cvr brand D J. ams. Now there is a way to do. And then the toward baringo ams are always a potential option barger for me.
lots of whats not. It's on the money.
I know it's it's going to have bearing equipment before. I feel like a compressor on a mixer. And I I can tell that is cheaper.
I can, but that's that's compressor and mike mixer. So that's a different product. So I shouldn't what I will say.
equities ally about those beer. Even if you're mounting them in an equipment rack that's outside of your home theat room, you're still going to want to manually modify their fans because for some reason they seem to have intentionally chose the loudest cooling fans they can possibly find anywhere.
Like we've got lots of cool ling fans for computers and other things that use that size of fan these days that are not very loud or or darn near silence. And they seem to have gone out of their way to find the loudest one they could possibly put in there. I don't know why I just .
I can I just had not the best experience. I mean.
it's a pretty easy modification. There's not much to IT. You can get like a ah knock to our A B silent b fan and just swap the thing in there. It's it's not that hard but yet out of the box, uh you're you're gonna to modify that thing like I think even if it's outside your room, you can hear those fans go and they they make a noise. But again.
I should very clearly say that my opinion of barang's form from. Mixers and compressed sors and night.
but they are meant to let go underneath the stage at the stadium. You know you're not going to hear IT from the audience. They did not care how how the cooling fans are.
right? So what kind of bug sauce is that one of these preamp h classical super high water amplifiers actually seem to hit their rated specks. The barrier ams were thorough, tested and measured, and they basically produced about fifty five percent of the voltage numbers they were claiming on their spec.
And then some of these other brands have numbers that are even more inflated than that. Ah so he knows we aren't super into the DIY subway for building scene, but do we have any thoughts to just bounce ideas off of in this case? Do we have especially other epi ideas?
Yeah yeah. So I mean, in terms of how are they claiming that on the sheet know they're not be hearing to any of those like ftc rules or even the european rules that have different parameters that allow you to make the numbers look bigger? Ah they're not to here to any of those.
They are going for the like for a millisecond in time. At one frequency, typically one killer hurts with unlimited distortion levels. How many watts can come out of this amplifier, right? Like it's a true maximum possible this that you for a split second in time.
if we wire IT to a lightning rod on the court tower and the storm comes through, how much what is doing get up.
which is why even at one percent, total harmonic distortion pass noise, which at you know mid range frequency is very, very audible. You know, even if those it's like a half of the waters that claimed on the speci of any these is about what can actually be output from these amplifiers.
Now the thing is that kind of goes for that subway for driver you're looking at to when they're like, this is a two thousand rms four thousand what peak but two own impedance dual voice coil, uh, design like that's what you're talking about. It's like, no, you're not sustaining two thousand watts continuously into that subway for driver that that's not what we're talking about. That is the maximum power handling, which is not that different from the peak amplifier power up.
Basically, it's before IT explodes.
That's right now genuinely as a as a too old look as I mean, it's kind of meant to be in a dool subway for driver arrangement where you can wire them in serious to create a load, or at least at the very least, wire together the two voice coils in series to give you a more manageable load for any amplifier. It's like, yeah, you need maybe about a thousand watts. You need about a little water into a four own load.
That's the type of amplifier that you're kind of looking for. So once you get to there, well, now you don't have to go wildly expensive to get some very good solid amplifiers. The ones that I am typically gonna at in cases like this are from crown ah, which are not the cheapest.
They are not the absolute cheapest. But you can absolutely look at like the X T I series that the class d high wattage series from crown. Um now it's not going to be under a thousand bucks, but it's not gona be over two thousand dollars.
You gonna be in the fifteen hundred, seventeen hundred dollar type Price range to get there. Like two by one thousand watts into forum type of amplifier. I think that's the four thousand two model which is claiming four thousand watts peak.
But like that was the peak power handling of the driver as well. So there are a match made in heaven. You like realistically, that's that's a really good match.
But you know he was kind of looking at some of these alternatives that are closer one thousand dollars that type of thing. So um you know G S G there there like kit based, right you can buy a kit subway for that you assemble. They've done all the work of picking out the components for you and they have flat pack the the cabinet so that you can assemble IT yourself. But they have done a lot of that lag work for you, and they have their recommended amplifiers. And one that they would point to is from the company pv.
They like two D J brand day.
Yeah the big D J brand day, the I P R. Uh, to seventy five hundred. You know that that the top and one but that's like under twelve under bucks, you can buy a directly from gsg there, an authorized reseller.
Uh, and that's got no that similar type of power rating as the ground APP that I just talked about at a lower Price point. So one of those i'd probably look at, I don't think we're a break in the bank here. It's not the the absolute most expensive like that chinese brand that you weren't two keen on, but it's nowhere near three thousand or not even close. It's definitely under half the Price of the the three thousand dollars es, and it's got appropriate wattage levels for the driver that you're talking about. So I think one of those will get the job done for you.
Yeah, I think so once you get to that vantage level, that kind of power you can't step.
you know you don't want go. So like actually thinking you need four thousand sustained was just because the driver says that peak power handling like no, don't have to do that.
right? I like the pv idea. So next questioner is infinite. Gary, hi gary. Hi here, invite gary has a question. So he came across a recent article that spotlights the brand maxo as in the old cassez that uh that we used to use and goes through some of the history and now suppose resurgence in audio cassette.
Here's a maxi audio cassette.
If you're watching on youtube, i'm holding in front the camera. I won focus on that and not my face right at the end.
I think I just got there.
He got IT there just for us. But like, yeah, what can you do for his part? Gerry has a fully restored nc amiti R X five o five recording tape deck, and he says he's made use of IT every week for the past ten years, really ten years every week. Gary is using concepts.
i'll believe. Why not? It's gary. It's entirely possible.
I definitely don't use the sets every week, but I have used them in the past few months. Uh, in my older car that I still need to sell, IT has take back and there's something super phone about pop in in a tape in an older car and driving around like that, I actually got a tape from the threat store, a homemade cassette. And all that set on the cassette was good old jam in music of somebody had actually hand label the casket with the words gool jam and music. And you know what I got that said, there was a good songs on there actually knew most of this IT was like early to mid eighties kind of dance phone and a little bit rock like.
you know what .
that you sound my best store find ever sup he's got his not committee for their part. Maxell never actually stopped manufacturing cassez entirely. Now they only make the jeep's. And now they are actually ramping up production and deploying some marketing campaigns, including the return of their blown away guy.
As a demand for the old format increases, the article describes how the cost of vital production has made a prohibitively expensive for a small artists to offer records for their fans to purchase. But cassez are still cheap, so IT allows almost anyone to offer an analog physical format release. So that's a big part of the appeal, along with an nostalgia, of course, for returning to the format. See, I don't know if it's that cheap to get any a mass production. But if you want to buy a few decent tape decks s and just hand .
make like a hundred of and that's quite a .
big that would be OK, but you're not getting like a thousand to sell. This is not going to happen. What do we think for gary cassez never went away.
But is this entirely a fed? Could cassez see as much of a resurgence as vital? Has does IT have that kind of longevity? So I can answer this one.
Is that a fat? Yes, good cassez see as much of a resurgence. No, doesn't have that kind of longevity. Absolutely not. Now if you mean longevity as a fad, that's one thing.
Do you mean longevity as a format where you can keep listening to IT in IT works in thirty years if you take care of IT? Yeah actually I have cassez and I have videotapes that uh, work easily thirty or forty years later and they're fine. But then again, i've been kind of paranoid and they've always been in an air condition house, never sitting in a hot car for very long.
And I often will purposely rewind, ford them, tails out or whatever, you know. So you can make them last a very, very long time. But there's just no way because cassette, cassette can sound amazing, but the vast majority of equipment that ever used cassette did not sound amazing.
And to make IT sound amazing, IT does require a more expensive cassette. c. You you can't just go up by like a barely working forty dollar unit at the thread.
ore. You're gonna something in the hundred dollar used range. You going to find like a pioneer, a SONY or you know brand names you've heard of A A J V C. I don't know there's all kindness of brand names that could play a decent asset, but IT takes more money and more trouble and more care to make IT sound in any way as good as even an M P three. And that's just the .
fact in their way. I mean as for as the nh of a niche of a niche group of audio files who are going back into cassez um like that, that's the appeal. Is how called infinite is that actually genuinely the appeal to that of people? Because the thing is so look, I mean, I don't I don't think that final records sound Better than cds do um pretty much full stop but there are certainly many people who do and I even if so, look, I can absolutely point at individual instances of a vital record release that sounds superior to the only CD version that was ever created ah that same album or something like I will absolutely say, oh yeah the record final version of that album sounds way Better than the only C D of that same album that was the .
aster recording that was intended for final and just slapped IT onto a that will sound terrible.
I think there is a bunch of albums that were that existed in vinal format that never existed in city format. So that is absolutely a case where if you want a physical release, the final was the only game in town. So for those reasons, I can one hundred percent get on board with people having. collections. But there there is the argument out there, whether I agree with that or not, of the people who just believe that the format, that the vital format sounds superior city to cds. There is nobody who is gone to argue that cassette pes inherently sound Better than any other format that was just over the thing about ah that was never what they were about at any point in history IT was that they were more convenient to play in your car than a final record that was for sure and .
they allowed you to get copies of music yes.
yes, that's what that was all about. So I think it's mostly is alga. I think that's the lion.
And share of what's going on is nostalgia. But I can see for IT like the artists were like, I want to have a physical release. I don't just wanted to be a CD that I burned like it's kind of cool.
It's kind of kitchen to have something that's analogue, truly is analogue, right? You have an actual analog, leah, pressing violence, this kind of expensive if you are very small audience that you're selling to. So I can see it's kind of cool in that way.
I don't think that's enough to create an actual resurgence and grow a market. And there's the people who love that. IT is all right, difficult to make IT sound as good as you possibly can. And that's the appeal of IT. But I don't see cassette going anywhere close to what final has done to the resurgence and is not going to get anywhere close to like suppliant's .
cds or something ridiculous. I don't want to dissuade someone from having fun with the technology, but if you want to try IT, i'm telling you with you're diving down a rabbit hole and you either finding someone to refuse them in buying a referred st one or maybe you want to get into opening that up and replacing belts and checking capacity and making sure the motors turning at the right speed and all that kind of if that kind of techy stuff sounds fun, go for there is something exciting about, wow, look how good this could set actually sounds I can doing.
And yeah, being able to actually make genuine and audible differences and things as opposed to the imagined differences of so much of autopsies.
So if if if playing with IT is most of the fun, have one with garsett. We just want something to sell good, just you get an uncompressed digital thought.
Yes, that's right.
So we get to gary game across the listing for a one point five meter hundred twenty four fifty nap after market power cable from a brand called wire world. A real steal of a deal Prices at two thousand thirty dollars to .
have to change a thirty on there. Yes, I couldn't just be two thousand.
even two thousand and thirty dollars. Since the quote, regular Price is shown right there is being twenty nine hundred dollars. Wow, a savings of eight hundred and seventy dollars.
Oh god, numbers are arbitrary.
What a deal for a power cable. The description says IT is made from O C C seven in altria r silver conductors and connectors, and that with design and materials of the highest level, this cable produces the richest timber, most dramatic dynamic expression of any power court. Nothing else comes close to producing sound quality so pristine, so impressively open. An area, of course it's area. The flexible flat design of the wired world plata electric seven power cord allows IT to bend in coil easily.
Even those pure .
sill .
uh yeah very, very little brittle in flexable material you're thinking too hard.
Drop IT bins in coils easily is very sexy. And the Loring fair to say it's all just marketing bs. Yes, yes, it's all marketing bs. That's not how any of this works.
Or is there anything in any of their claims that might actually improve what we hear over a properly made stock power court? No, no, no, no. A power cord is a power cord. Unless IT is broken on the inside.
this power cord is much more likely to fail, being made from silver, much, much, much more likely to fail.
I want to cut IT open and see if it's made from silver. I don't know if I believe him, because that would be .
really hard to do. They did make a mention of some silver clad copper in there, which one would imagine.
just from .
material science point of view, if it's not gonna fail, you're wanted to be copper inside. This is, this is not really stupid. I really ridiculous if your power, if your power cable is changing the timber of the sound. I don't know what the heck's going on in there.
It's not it's basically not .
one point five meters, two thousand dollars if you .
have money to set on fire. And that .
sounds .
good sending to me. Yeah, really let us set IT on fire. Will do fun stuff with IT. Uh, so moving on from that ridiculous products.
H, gerry can recall how smoking used to be, not just allowed, but very common in movie theatres. wow. And some movies themselves depict, this time with heavy smoke filling the theatre that's being shown on screen.
And the swells of smoke clearly illuminated the beam of light from the projector. Didn't that mess up the projective image? Yes, smoking messes up everything.
How did anybody see the movie screen clearly back in those days? Did you just have to hope there were less smokers in the theatre? And yes, I hope, I hope they were set up front instead of in the background for the projector.
Like, yeah, everything you're saying is correct. Smoking is terrible. Don't do IT grows up, you and everything around you.
I remember my my late father's TV screen one time. I went over there and cleaned IT and clean, clean, clean, clean. I like this looks really dark.
I cleaned IT and showed him the rag. I propose used a White rag cleaned with the index and IT was a Brown rag. And i'm like, this is in your lungs, mr.
dad. He didn't listen to me. So there you go. Yeah, all those things are true.
No, that's the movies weren't clear. They were not hd, let alone ultra high efficient back in the day. They absolutely were not.
So there you go. Uh let's move on to Jason and cfs questions about products that matter. First up, Jason previously asked about A T S C three point O A K A next gen TV network tune solutions since he already uses an hd home run A T S C one point on network tuner, but the H D home run next gen T V network to others don't support the m encysted channels.
Not yet, at least. Yeah, and that's the whole reason I want to change the broadcast standard career we suggested the sapper box solution has mentioned before. But one thing that Jason didn't mention in his previous email is that using an APP on his apple TV fork of view over their broadcast and recordings is a very high priority to him. So he doesn't want my little digital converter box is twenty million dollars. No.
no. APP for the apple TV four days for that little?
No, not a thing. It's got a funny, a little remote. Good luck. So for the time being, he is decided to just stick with his A, T, S, A one point of version, not worry too much about missing out on the HDR of some N, F, L broadcast.
That's going to very rare, and also that's going to be Carried as streaming. So hopefully one day soon there will be a viable network tuner solution with full D, R M support. Or Better yet, enough pressure is somehow applied to remove the ATS c three pointer encysted in D R M altogether.
Yes, sir, that's what i'm shooting for. Don't buy i'm i'm not buying anything that's broadcast with encryption. I'm not gonna IT. I'm not gonna a product because that is the public airwaves and they are supposed to be for the public. And IT shouldn't be about subscribing or having to pay for something that's over the year if you mean about with commercials.
But you just have to have an internet action that can look up the .
egypt keys and not doing IT, not doing IT. I'm not buying anything that does IT, and I just want watch IT. So that's all good.
Even I know this sounds crazy. I'm paying for streaming. So it's not about paying. It's about the difference in the in the product.
Public lives is certainly not required on a technical level to make the image and sound appear there. In fact, adding IT after the fact IT wasn't part of the original original, original spec. Uh, for next ten TV when I was when IT really was just atc three point no wasn't in there that was added later. They wanted that copy protection.
The more I look into IT, like I said before in this podcast about how you can use different codex even with atc one point out, the more I realized this is not really to improve anything for anyone yeah, may be the mobile devices, but very few people are asking for that. So onto other topics. IT is his panasonic t sixty five plasma.
TV finally started giving up the ghost. wow. He had been using a seventy seven inch L G C X OLED in his home theater, while the panasonic plasma was in his living room.
So he decided to move the sex into the living room and got himself a new eighty three and cc four OLED for the home theater. X S. Very nice upgrades all around.
His home theater includes a five point, two point for utmost speaker configuration, and he uses a ymar A R X A A A A, A very difficult model number to say, an R X A A A receiver for the four atta speakers. Yahoo continues to refer to them as present speakers. Because ya haz weird.
The front presence speakers can be configured as front height overhead or do be enable, and the real presence speakers can be configured as rear height overhead or dobe enabled. Physically speaking, according to dolbear's diagrams, Jason's front presence speakers would be the closest to being top middle, just going by angles. But when he ran y pal, that's the room correction for a uma IT automatically set them as being front heights.
As far as he can tell, just listening to his system, he's getting satisfying at those effects. good. Stop there. good. But should he manually change the settle for his front present speakers to overhead? No, you just said you're getting satisfying at most effect.
The yahoo manual mentions that if you only have two atmos akers, you should put them directly above your seats, right where dolby says top, middle should go and then can figure them as overhead rather than front heights. But IT doesn't clearly say what to do. And you also have a pair of rear heights speakers. IT only mentions having front heights and rear heights both mounted high up on the walls, or having overhead front presence and overhead real presence both mount on ceiling. What if you have what do be will call top, middle and rear heights like he has again, you know what i'm going to say if if it's working, you stop you yeah perfect that most if it's working and you like IT.
yes. Yeah you don't I mean, you don't need to change IT, that's the bottom line. You don't need to change IT. Um because what really matters is that yet you have a front versus a rear. You have a left verses a ride the the rest of the steering of that doesn't make a whole lot of difference, whether they're labelled as front heights and rare heights or front presents overhead, rear presents overhead doesn't really make much difference at all. Um if you did the because he's got a high end enough um aby receiver from hamar h that IT does the three dimensional, they actually let you um move the included measured microphones around on a little stand that they give you that gives you like three locations in asm yh so you don't move the stand but you just move the little included microphone under these three little .
seats on on this included .
stand and in asthmatic and then a fourth one on a little elevated height stick to get elevation angle measurements. And if you did all that and your speakers are like, you know pretty close to overhead just a little bit in front of you, which is within the back for a dolly top middle can be a little bit in front of you, just not as in front of you as top front or front heights would be um so it's like, yeah if you did the whole three dimensions measured thing and I still labeled them as front heights, a little bit surprised because it's supposed to be able to measure those angles um but yet effectively, effectively IT really doesn't make a liquor difference so I would one hundred percent leave the labels alone. It's really not going to change anything.
Yes, if it's working in the like IT, that's that's a good utmost result. So moving on. Along with his new eighty three inch L G C for OLED in his 1 mahan a 8a receiver, he also has an OPPO udp two three alter hd blue ray player.
He likes to watch live concert blue race. Sometimes most of those discs include both a five point one or seven point ones surrounding sound mix, and also a dedicated two point o uncompressed lpc m mix. You can typically use which one you want to listen to from the blue e disk menu, but recently, when he's tried selecting the two point o uncompressed L P C M soundtrack, no sound actually comes out of his speakers.
If he goes back into the disk menu and select the five point one D T S M A or doby true H D or sometimes uncompressed five under seven point one L B C and soundtrack, that place is just fine. And the video is always, there is only the dedicated, uncompressed sed two point o channel L P C M soundtracks that end up being totally silent for some reason. Even stranger, he tried having the HDMI pastor option enabled in the 1 maha。 So when he put the 1 maha into stand by, the video and audio both get passed along to the T V.
And the T V can just use its own built in speakers at that boy, doing that and selecting the two point o channel L P C M soundtrack on the desk worked. The two point o soundtrack played just fine coming out of the TV built in speakers, passing through the yamaha receiver and stand by a mode along the way. If he tries just playing a regular CD in his OPPO, the 1 maha receive a place that perfectly fine。 And throughout all of this he only uses the ymar s straight listening mode, which is just supposed to play any given audio format exactly the way IT is no up mixing.
But unlike the pure direct y pe room correction and based management can also be applied, which is what he wants. So any ideas could IT maybe just be a new firm? Are bug in the 雅马哈, a very specific use case. So he's got lue rays of concerts that have five point one and some point, one and two point O L, P, C M separate .
sound tracks. Know you choose that in the disc menu before you hit play or go back to the disk menu to change that.
So let's just say two point I was important to me wants to hear IT, yeah, let's going on here.
Yeah, this is a bit confusing, especially in that straight decoding boat. I would say what happens if you do just temporarily for the sake of trouble shooting, try the pure direct listings mode. Uh, because i'm wondering if something in the processing there, whether to be White power or whether be the base management or attempting to apply some of something like that.
Like what happens if you do pure direct? Because is the signal coming out of the OPPO and making IT to the yamaha in a way that is compatible. One thing that's involved here is um sampling rate and bit depth um because the yahoo mentions writing its manual that I will support all the way up to twenty four or actually up to thirty two bit one ninety two.
Well okay, but the OPPO i'm to actually think in a maybe a setting in the OPPO that's that's what's going on here because the OPPO has the ability I think to like up convert in its own uh audio processing to like three eighty four if you want to. So like did that maybe get check marked at some point? You know, when it's outputs to channel L P C M, is IT maybe being up sample to inside of the OPPO before it's getting sent out? And somehow that's messing things up. I like I am more suspicious of the settings, the OPPO, then I am of the settings in the .
amazon t to be right when you use the source direct .
on yeah yeah. The other thing that could be going on is on the second audio setting for blue race, because that definitely messes things up when your only connection is an HDMI connection um because that sounds like if you sending uh an encoded format, right D T S uh H D master audio doby true H D that's playing fine.
He goes to the two channel uncompressed L P C M where there's no code applied and that's what ends up going silent so that can have to do with that secondary audio setting um because the bitch stream output only works if secondary audio is off in a blue ray player um and I am more suspicious of your audio settin' your OPPO if you're doing any conversion inside of the OPPO of any kind, right where it's like it's doing the um decoding inside of the player and only standing out a multi channel p cm. Or if it's that up sampling option in your unbeknown to you, you are up sampling things to three eighty four and that's not compatible with your emails or two fifty six yeah those setting things are there in the opposite. I'm more suspicious of that.
That's what I would check. Okay, there you go. Ah let's move on the bread and see if we can get .
another question in here before or two c before o'clock stop time, teen minutes.
Okay, we can do, we see if we can help bread and thirteen minutes bread has an S V S P P two thousand prosper and in on kio R Z fifty A V receiver, he's using direct live for automatic calibration room correction.
He's wondering, is IT Better to lower the gain, the volume setting in the suber for itself and then raised the suber for trim level in the heavy receiver or vice versa? Or does IT really not matter at all? That is just a gool fashion audio question I like yeah .
uh so I mean S V S for their port, they've always recommended trying to have the volume nob on the buffer up kind of as high as you can um that's always been there approach um IT shouldn't make much out of difference at all, to be honest because I mean, we're just talking about you know are you applying or gain or you apply more actual amplification, but for their part the like ocs and in the weaker signal level.
Uh and then we we trust that our amplification is very, very clean. Uh, where as you know, if you're applying uh positive gain stage and preamp lifer or maybe you ever noisy prety amplify or something like that. So that's always been their approach. The only thing I would argue is if you're using any sort of automatic signal sensing, right, like if you will let yourself for go to stand by and then IT wads for to um you detect that there's a signal coming then very often that needs to just be at a certain thresh hold yeah and you had to having to bump up the trim level even if that means having to turn down the volume lab of suffer itself to get the levels appropriate. So if you're not using any signal sensing though, I mean ultimately you should make much difference um because the notion that you can have a noisy preempt these days, it's not very common.
Unlikely my my first stop, my instinct is always to send a higher signal to a device that's going to amplify as long as the higher signal long is clean and not being distorted by being pumped up too high.
There is another thing there, which is that the S B S B S, like they are basically rated to reach their full maximum output power with a two volt rms prem signal. And there's a lot of heavy receivers that if you turn the trim level all the way up, it's ending up like four volts or which at that point is a clipped signal as far as the amplifier is concerned. So that can be one of the reasons why they don't want you to turn the trial try way too high um because you can actually be sending a signal that higher than the the necessary .
signal to surely a mainstream on kio kind of receiver is going to send out a just a bog standard two vote thing when then we .
add its Normal setting. Yeah but if you turn that all the way up to its plus twelve, you know, that could be a three point five or a four, four, four preamp set in coming out of there.
Now he wouldn't urt think if you tried to both ways, right, like high gain, low put, and in the opposite, just try to two different ways if you don't hear anything different, just put both in the middle.
Yeah, but i'm kind of lake. If I am using auto center, uh, signal sensing, I just want the signal high enough coming out the ah out of the preamp output that is high enough to trigger that signal sensing. M i'm not at that point, i'm not going to go to like, well, as he said, turn the volume up up higher and turn the trim level down. But now my circle sensor does the work that's not the solution get the single sensing working and and that's good.
Not so. I guess the answer is IT doesn't really matter if everything's working well. Middle of the road is probably the best omen.
The ancho R Z fifty comes with drag.
and you can run IT using the measurement micro that comes along with the receiver, which is what he's doing at first. But you also have the option of using your own USB measurement microphones, such as the U M, I, K. One you might, one that is specifically mentioned and recommended.
So he's considering getting one of those that you make. One comes with a calibration file that is unique to each individual. You make one unit. It's supposed to make programs like roomie q weather, apply some offsets that are unique to your specific you might one, so that your measurements are closer to perfectly accurate and neutral.
Yes, many dsp, the makers of you might one supply both and on access and a ninety degree of access calibration file, and you can upload those files into rag as well to give you more accurate measures. The instruction, say, to point the tip of the, you make one straight up at the ceiling and then use the ninety degree calibration files to take your measures. And naturally, that makes sense for all of your floor level speakers since they'll be pretty closed to ninety degrees from the tip of the unite one when the mike and all of your floor level tweeters are all close to see at your level.
But what about your overhead speakers? Like in his case, he has bear a top middle speakers so there is there almost directly above the microphone should he switch the calibration file to the on access version rather than the ninety degree version. How would continuing to use the ninety degree version affect the readings for the overhead speakers? That that's a logical question right there. He is aiming right directly. I about to you could point IT to the front and set IT to nine degrees.
Yeah the option to do that is a little bit more pinky than I think anyone is honestly going to do um because yeah, you're you're in the midst of the measured process and now you're going to have to go back change the calibration file on the mack phone, which might force you to reset all the same settings and everything like that again, which is way more pinky than anyone is doing. So most people are certainly doing, he said IT and forget IT.
I would venture to say most people aren't even bothering to upload either of the a calibration files because IT isn't honestly like utterly necessary order to get a because it's more about comparative levels than IT is absolute level. I mean, to a certain extent, when you're talking EQ, there's some amount of absolute levels that we are worried about a bit, especially if you're very, very personne ity of about drawing your target curve and you wanted to match absolutely perfect to the target curve that you've drawn. Um but yet buy in large people are absolutely just leaving one calibration file or no upload to calibration file and taking all the measures with the microphone set the same in every instance.
Um the speakers are not directly nine like on access to the microphone. They are still to the left on the right at the very least. So they are off access from the tip of the microphone pointing straight up at the ceiling.
So yeah, my general answer is I wouldn't worry about IT too much. I certainly won. I wouldn't go through the hassle going all the way back through reloading a new celebration while coming all the way back because this is not an on access measured.
It's never an on access measures. You never know. I guess you have a voice of god that is really directly the one.
Right, right, right. So would we like to try to answer, Kevin.
to do as many as we're able to? So you let me know when we have to stop.
Well, I thought you were the one with A A hard .
out is not a hard out. No, just want to aim for around one clock.
right? We probably get a couple more folks here are Kevin has question. So rob, watching shows while wearing headphones sometimes, right? That you okay. Rob mentioned doing so when he watched episode .
five of the penguin.
So which headphones is robust? Kevin tends to reach for his SONY. Mdr, seventy five or six.
Those are very good. At any reason he should change. Why did rob the side use whichever headphones he uses specifically?
Listen, I love some SONY headphones. All I do for the past umpteen years, i've been using one of these M D R V nine hundred count D J headphones. I love them so much.
I've had them for fifteen years. I just keep changing out the pads. So I love me some uh SONY headphones. Ah so there you go that I would say stick with watch a gab but yeah what LED you to what you use right yeah I mean.
to answer that part, I don't think there's any particular reason you should change if you're happy with what you're using. Um the ones i'm using at the moment are 3 heizer uh each five, nine, nine headphones. There are multiple things that I really, really like about these headphones, but number one about them is just their physical comfort on my head.
They are very, very, very comfortable headphones that I can wear for hours and hours and hours if I want to, and they never become uncomfortable or overly hot. They're an open back design. I am always wearing eyeglasses. So close back, where he has to form a seal, doesn't work too well against the stem of my glasses. These being open back design IT doesn't make very much difference.
OK for a second there, you froze up and I thought something terrible happened to my internet here.
Good clamping force on these headphones is just enough to keep them nicely seated. There's no way I could do anything active while wearing these um but it's the clamping forces kind of light on these um so that's more comfortable again for the long wearing and for having the glasses on with them pressed against the stems there um yeah I mean the sound quality on the sand heider the whole H D five hundred series I really have like the sound quality all along.
I do wish there was a little bit more basic extension to help, but you're just not onta get that from an open back headphone. Ah and what they are producing is nice and accurate, that's what I favoured the most. Um then the other thing is just logistically, they come with a nice long eleven foot uh cable with a quarter inch jack on the end that plugs into an AV.
Receive a really nicely so don't have to get any separate um or extension uh headphone cord for IT to work really nicely in the set up. It's got that nice length of cord with the jack that already needs. So I don't need any adapter. I don't need any different table. So it's mostly all logistics reasons, but I do like the sound quality very much um but i'd be very happy with the sound quality of the SONY seven five six is that you're using i'd have no complaints about the sound quality but wearing comfort or code link or whatever like that could be enough reason and the eighty five, nine, eight or one hundred and fifty blocks on amazon. So do not break in the bank either.
You know, I don't think i've ever watched a movie with headphones. Oh, really, in my whole life, I don't think I ever have. I can't think of a situation I I don't know, interesting.
I can try IT sometimes see if that feels like I think I would. I don't think I would feel right to me and makes me want to do IT. And my whole .
thing is i'm in an apartment. I tried to be a very considerate neighbors. So anytime we're getting into the later evening, but I want to watch something i'll put on the headphone if i'm watching like guy tried to watch my movies at like three year in the afternoon.
So yeah and i've tested that were you know with that levels i'm playing, which is not full reference volume but not that bad. But i've carefully set up, I carefully chose the apartment that I bought, that IT had a room that was, like, kind of isolated and didn't share any walls with anybody. And all that type of thing.
You know, on the other side of the one shared world is the whole way. So it's not actually going to anybody else s apartment and then it's surrounded by the other rooms in my apartments was not directly going to anybody. I've decoupled everything.
I used to treat all of those things so well. Three P M. I'm onna. Play pretty close to a reference volume. I've never had a complaint from every anybody, but if I you know night, I want to watch something I can be considered. I'm going turn that up to put my headphones on.
Instead, my best opportunity to watch movies is just after my wife goes to bed. So yeah, I can't not really, my wife can tolerate a lot of noise. She's great, man.
We're super compatible. Once she's zones out, you could have canon warfare somewhere and how? And usually, however, I can't, I will wake you up if I go anywhere close to movie volume. So I always call IT a uh O K T V show SHE SHE can hand like and eat up and like about a minus twenty six D, B. And she's still asleep.
I've got the door close to the living room, you know? And she's fine if I tried to go up or I watch movies at a minus fifteen or something on a minus ten. Now SHE gone to be texting me from bed going stop IT.
Which he has done before. It's like too loud. sorry. So that's another reason why my best time to watch movies is when I need to be a little quieter. So understanding completely, maybe I should try the headphone thing, but I don't know .
that i'd like IT.
I try for five minutes. What can hurt?
We've want to, john here. I think this will be okay. great.
John is about to go ahead and make his new D I Y bed trap panels cool. And we successfully talked him down from some of the needlessly complicated multilayer designs he had come across on various forms. Also good at this point, he just wants to make panels that are seven inches deep in total, including a one inch area gap at the back, and just using bats of rockwell installation in a basic frame that you're going to get great results. And rather than trying to make very large panels that would require cutting the bats of installation to make them perfectly fit the custom size, he realized that if he just uses standard sixteen and on center bats of installation, rather than bats meant for twenty four ancient and center framing, he'll be able to a mount a few of them side by a side to get the coverage that he wants. That all to simplify things right?
Oh yes, not the least of which is mounting them on the walls too. It's a lot is to deal with modular system. This one, huge on wheels.
The panel, yeah. And they gonna match up to the studs. In your world. So that's that's so for him, it's convenient to buy the bats of installation at his local lose store. But of course, the rockwall brand offers several different options with different names.
The regular comfort bat are listed as being three and half inches of the safe and sound for addix version is the same Price, but listed as being three inches. And then there's the comfort board version listed at two inches deep. He can stack a couple of layers or three layers in the case of the comfort board to get the total thickness he is after. Is there a significant enough difference in terms of their acoustic properties as based traps, to make any particular version worth IT over any of the others?
No, get the cheapest one that over.
Yeah, yeah, get, just stay up by the cheap stuff. Yeah, the right track, man, yeah.
Um yeah. I mean, Normally I just go with the what ever was intended for absolutely standard, two by four framing, which is the three and a half inch depth. Now, he seemed quite specific.
He is like, he wants seven inches front, back. So I mean, you could just get two of the three and alf inches and put that together. But he's like he designed his frame.
So we'll have a one inch air gap behind them performance wise, whether you had seven inches of installation or six six inches of installation and a one in air gap performance, why is there's really not a lack of difference? So you you really can go either way. But i'm also thinking it's like, yeah, he wants to mt.
Them in the particular places and size that he wanted, having the one inch air gap on the back of the frame actually makes mounting a lot easier than having the insulation flush to the backs. So I can see maybe that's the very reason is doing IT um but yeah I mean, I would absolutely go with whatever is the cheapest option uh and that's not always the same, right? Sometimes you look up the Price online but and the Price in store is different or they're running a sale and what they have in stock in store.
Um so yeah just get whatever chief is almost certainly not the comfort bat. The comfort bat is always more expensive um that the other one so yeah uh or the comfort board i'm saying uh the comfort board is the more expensive one um so it's almost certainly going to be that one. But whether it's comfort bad or the safe and sound added makes not a lick of difference to the .
performance is what is when you can recommend the cheap stuff, but you know what? The simplest approach work and cheapest stuff works.
All of them, being rockwell, are very easy to work with. None of them are gonna compressed over time, going to give you like orientation on your skin, although I would still recommend wearing gloves while you're handling IT. But very, very easy to work with, holds its shape, easy to use, so can be great no matter what.
How about that? Not an an easy answer. Yeah, just do the easy thing. You're on the right track.
So as far as people who are on the list already, our Spencer and grinder will get you guys first up next week unless we missed somebody and they remind me they might skip the if they if they were a big question.
One day, one day we're going to get to my discussion of center.
Think we ve got two or three weeks left before time is back or we're out and just jam IT .
in there because I just out going to I thought I was going to happen in this week .
as when questions are coming and I ago we don't have that many questions this week and then every time without feel like no.
turns out we have more questions than I thought the listers and .
me will get to me but yes, before we leave for the episode entirely just wanted once again thank anchor for their support of tom after the podcast or after the hurry anes, um yeah I was tremendous of what anchor did they are sending over that sold export table power station? So huge ge things to anchor on going forever and ever will always be grateful to them for that. And we do want to thank our listeners of the week as well.
Jason, Richard, coral, Andrew and gregory. Thank you all so much for sending in those paypal donations to support tom. Really, really, really appreciate that. And on dot com, flash heavy rain podcast is where you can go to sign up to make an automatic monthly donation to support the bills for keeping the podcast going so big. Thanks to our one hundred thirty two patrons who are holding strong over there also want to send thanks to john.
And if in a gary for sending movie codes over the tom and iron for sending a movie code to me, that only works in canada. So tom, make us in that one. Thank you, gentleman, for all of those, john.
