A segment of the sports video business that is growing increasingly more exciting and interesting is graphics. At Super Bowl LIV, for example, Fox Sports had viewers buzzing with a flashing new insert graphics package and score bug, while the NFL wowed audiences with its NFL 100 pregame ceremony that featured nearly seven minutes of augmented reality graphics.

However, some of the most impactful graphics enhancements don't necessarily have to explode off the screen. They can be subtle. Much like the new Virtual Shot Clock introduced this season for NBA games on TNT by Turner Sports.

We’re joined on The SVG Podcast by Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer for Turner Sports to discuss the Virtual Shot Clock project, which took more than a year to develop.

Craig shares how he and the network see this technology on the level of a 'Yellow 1st and Ten Line' for basketball and walks you through the work they did with the graphics technology leader Vizrt in order to make it all happen.

This conversation comes from the stage of the SVG Sports Graphics Forum and was recorded on February 26. It is moderated by SVG Chief Editor Jason Dachman.
